lucasnorth · 12/12/2008 17:05

Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

OP posts:

Phoenix - I know what u mean about thinking it's a Sunday today, I drove about 2 miles in a bus lane today cos I thought it was Sunday, just keeping my fingers crossed that there wasn't a camera anywhere on route

Belgrano · 02/01/2009 19:19

Hi everyone. Been away for ages so popping in to say hello!
Mickey I feel for you. I have been so bad this time too - for a long time I couldn't read this thread as it was always full of food talk and made me heave! I was signed off work with hyperemesis written on my sick note the week before Christmas after a few days like you describe - unable to keep anything down. But they said to me that as long as you can 'generally' keep liquids down you don't 'have' to take meds - they get worried about dehydration but not so much about lack of food- it just makes you feel like hell but the baba is fine.
All I can say is rest - mine is much better now after a week of proper eating at home with my mum. The mroe you can eat the better you feel but that's easier said than done. AND 12 WEEKS IS NOT FAR AWAY (here's hoping it actually stops then)'!

QueenFeeUntoUsAChildIsBorn · 02/01/2009 19:35

Hi all
sorry I have been away for a while eith christmas and my grandmothers funeral.
The funeral went well although it was -5 at the graveside brrr! (scottish highlands)

I have started to feel better now and am eating non stop but can only eat small portions.

Am I the only one not finding out the sex? I love the suprise and with one DD and one DS It makes little difference to me what sex it is!

Happy New Year to you all heres hoping for a great 2009 for you all and lots of healthy babies!

nicky6 · 02/01/2009 20:10

hi guys all good here. Am 3 months today so 14 weeks and a bit i think and still nausea a nightmare i fear its gonna be like last time when i was still being occasionally sick and almost constantly nauseous right til the end and the first thing i did after dd charlie was born was be sick!!!!

Last time the only thing that stopped me being sick was eating all the time, whereas this time dont feel like eating as doesnt really help as much

Anyway i bought some magical elve chococalte for me and dh and it has popping candy inside so both of us sat here with our mouths open listening to the pops

Good luck everyone with scans - anxious times but soon all be through it

ephrinedaily · 03/01/2009 11:40

Hello everyone I think its time for me to crawl out of the lurkers cupboard - I'm due 3rd July 2009, which I think makes me 14 weeks (?) have one DS 13 months, I'm 28.

Have already had scan, one baby but had poor nuchal fold result... though 'good' blood tests - not sure what to think but going for a foetal heart scan soon which will let us know more.

Hope everyone else is stopping feeling sick quite so much, sorry for all who feel sick throught pg - Mine used to come back every month with DS1 and that was bad enough!

Also hope other people get nice reassuring scans - if you don't come on and talk to me!

BonzoDoodah · 03/01/2009 13:48

Congratulations ephidrinedaily and welcome to the thread.
I'm 11 weeks now and have the appointment for my scan in a week and a half .... too long to wait! Am really nervous but trying not to think about it - although been looking up nuchal fold testing centres to book something as I am on the old side of old

Have been feeling really sick but then Hubby and family all had the vomiting bug after Xmas so can't tell if I had a mild version of that or bad ms. Yuck anyway. Roll on 14 weeks (when it all stopped last time).

Have any of you read this ... the truth about pregnancy symptoms ... very funny!

Phoenix · 03/01/2009 15:42

I took a photo of my bump this morning and OMG it looks huge. The bottom of my belly is big and flabby anyway but the top part just under my boobs is loads bigger than before. Pic is on my profile.

I'm 11+5 today. Scan on Monday. I'm scared but so excited too.

Congrats and welcome to you ephrinedaily

mavornia · 03/01/2009 16:21

hello everyone and happy new year!

haven't been around for ages - our whole house came down with the vomiting/diarrhoea bug over xmas, we even had to postpone xmas dinner. My mum threw up in the butcher's when she went to pick up the turkey and nobody could face looking at it never mind trussing it for the oven.

we're all on the mend now though - you know you feel better when you find your hand in the Quality Street tin

had a scan before xmas and everything was fine and the doctors were really pleased with my blood sugars (I have type 1 diabtes). I'm only 10 weeks but starting to relax a little bit

congrats to the newcomers!

pop1973 · 03/01/2009 16:26

Hi

I thought that I would introduce myself, I am due on 2nd July.

Suffered quite badly for a few weeks with morning sickness. Not doing so bad now.

Been having terrible headaches for the last few days, so hoping that nothing is too wrong.

Just wanted to say hello !!!

welcome pop and ephri...

good luck all with scans dont worry of on the old side me too and results came back as 1 in 5600 so think positive

xxhunnyxx · 03/01/2009 21:50

Just wanted to ask is anybody not having the blood tests to see whether u r high risk for downs? I'm supposed to have my tests on the 13th but I'm not sure if I want them.
I saw the stress they caused to my friend, her results came back as high risk so then she had the whole ''do I have an amnio?'' stress, had an amnio (against her bf's will) and it turned out that all was well with the baby.
I just think there's enough stress without adding to it.
And even if the worst did come to the worst and my baby was downs, I think I would still want it anyway, now that I've seen it and felt it I don't think I could chose to not have it.
Oooooooo dilemmas! Just interested to know what other ppl are planning to do?

mavornia · 03/01/2009 21:59

i feel the same as you, hunny - until I was pregnant with ds1, I always assumed I would have the tests but when they offered screening with ds1 I refused as I knew I loved and wanted the baby I was carrying whoever and however he came - so there was no point in subjecting myself to tests that might make me worry or carried the risk of miscarriage.

of course everyone is different and you don't know how you'll deal with something until you're actually living it - for some the tests would offer peace of mind or the chance of choice about how they wish to proceed

but with this pregnancy I'm not planning on any testing

xxhunnyxx · 03/01/2009 22:21

Yeah it would be nice to have the peace of mind knowing that they came back as low risk, but as the MW explained u could still have a downs baby if they show as low risk so it wouldn't give me 100% peace of mind.
I'm only 25 and no history of downs in either mine or bf's family so it's very unlikely.
I would find it very difficult to cope with the loss of this pregnancy, under any circumstances, so I really wouldn't want to increase the risk of miscarriage by having an amnio.
If there was anything wrong with this baby I would deal with it, it's my flesh and blood and I will love it uncondionally.
BF wants me to have the tests as he says that he would want to know if he was having a downs baby, he doesn't seem to fully understand the tests tho, he seems to think the blood tests show the result.
Explained that we'd have to have an amnio to find out for defo and explained that that means we could protentially put a perfectly healthy baby at risk so I wouldn't want one, so there's not much point in havin the blood tests, he doesn't seem to understand my method of thought tho!

woollyjo · 03/01/2009 22:47

I had a nuchal this time round, didn't with dd.

This time I felt I needed to consider the impact my choices may make on dd and at least go into things with my eyes open (as much as they can be).

Like you said, its different for everyone and even with all the tests here are no guarantees.

Newb · 03/01/2009 22:50

OK, I'm going to be brave and add myself properly. 13 weeks today. Baby no. 1, due 10th July. mmc in July so was very nervous for the first 12 weeks but all seems well, had scans etc. and all looking good

After being in denial until now (sort of to protect myself) I am now faced with the also slightly terrifying thought that I may be having a baby Definitely don't know what is in store, but sure it will be good! Looking forward to learning from all you lovely mnetters who do know what they're doing!

PS Please can someone add me to the list, bloody mac doesn't seem to be able to cut and paste....

Phoenix · 04/01/2009 09:33

Happy New Year everyone haven't been on for ages !! Welcome to all the newbies our thread is really growing !!!
I am 14 weeks now got my combinded screening results back and I was really pleased with the result 1 in 4200 for an old bird like me [35] I was chuffed
Told work so have now stopped flying hurrah but just got to wait and see where I am posted hopefully somewhere nice find out next week .
Still haven't told anyone in the family about LO absoulutley dreading telling my mum its funny but I just can imagine the reaction oh well have to cross that bridge soon , didn't tell her last time till 18 weeks may do the same again luckily being tall tend not to show for a while !
As soon as ican work out the scanner I will post a pic of my scan xxxxxxx

mickeymistletoe · 04/01/2009 11:13

good morning everyone. i am delighted to say my ms has subsided somewhat! still feel and look like utter crap but i can keep water and small meals down which is a start!

dh's mother had a baby with spina bifida who sadly died and so when we were having DS DH really pushed for the blood tests which came back low risk.

i wasnt offered a nuchal fold scan. this time i have been told i can have one in another county for about £125.00. to be honest the info i've been given in the past re spina bifida was be very worried if it was your own mother but not DH's mother. also havent got a spare £125 this soon after xmas!!

i am going to opt for the blood tests again and see what happens.i am 29 so not overly concerned although i know of a girl in her very early twenties who has a baby with downs. i guess nobody knows what is going to happen and as my mum says its not a catalogue and you cant choose what you get!!

phoenix - your bump is hilarious! mines not too far behind either. your DS was a tad lighter than mine when he was born (9lb 5oz). i just think its all been soooo stretched before theres no way we can hide it this time!

depending on what i look like in work suit tomorrow i may have to tell all at work. wasnt planning on it until after 12 week scan but its really obvious now and not just in a "look whose eaten all the pies way."

mavornia - so sorry you were all poorly over christmas. are you still at home? when do you fly back to egypt?

NattyTurkeyAndEggnog · 04/01/2009 12:30

hey all
feeling awful last few days i think im getting this sickness bug we all seem to have come down with.

i am not finding out the sex either queenfee, same reasons got one of each, so doesnt matter really, and would love a surprise.

i am havig the downs nuchal test AND bloods, and will be going for amnio if they come back high risk.
i have 2 kids already both very young, and would need to know in order to think about my options and also to prepare if i did decided to continue the pregnancy. i dont think i would cope terribly well personally, i already have an autistic son, but like others have said it is a personal descision, and until i had a disabled son i didnt realise HOW hard it is, and perhaps another child with SN would be too much for my family.
but like i said to DH if it was something like blindness/deafness it would be completly different.
each to their own i suppose.

WELCOME to the newbies

MoominMoma · 04/01/2009 12:44

Hi, just found this thread. I am due on the 8th July - although I am sure this will change when I have my 12 week scan on Jan 13th. I am 36 and this is my 2nd pregnancy, my 1st ended in a miscarriage in July last year so I am trying not to get too excited yet. I am terrified by the thought of going for this scan in case all is not well.
I love how supportive everyone has been so far on MN. It is a great site and I am so glad I found it.

christmasiana · 04/01/2009 13:16

hello, HAPPY NEW YEAR

am back from hideous, unfestive, sick Christmas in Germany, where I lost 4 kilos and now all my clothes are too big for me! can't believe it, i have no bump at all any more (which means, i think, it was just fat!) and don't feel very pregnant, but I had a booking in scan on 31/12 which showed it still there and wriggling round!

i have stopped feeling sick now though which is good - finally at 15 weeks it has died down completely

now worrying because my down's results came back 1 in 1148 which seems much more common that all you people out in the 5000s! and i am 33... grrr.... i know it's still very low risk but I am a complete worrier.

part of new year's resolutions has begun for me - i've been doing yoga first thing in morning, I've got a DVD by Tara Lee which I am liking a LOT. Feel very chilled yet strong afterwards.

is anyone considering a home birth?

NattyTurkeyAndEggnog · 04/01/2009 13:19

hey christina.
i would LOVE LOVE LOVE a homebirth, but dotn think i will be allowed one, will see when i get my booking in appointment. 15th jan.. so i will be like 14 weeks by then lmao. dont u love the NHS! ive got my nuchal scan b4 my booking in appointment lmao!

christmasiana · 04/01/2009 13:22

yes, i love the NHS, i still haven't received my letter asking me to the booking in appointment, which happened when i was 15 weeks, so i paid £195 for the nuchal at 12 weeks...

what does lmao mean?

why might you not be able to have a home birth? natty?
