Anyone due July 2009? Part 2

Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

Hi all, just wanted to say I'm still here, lurking

Got a consultant appointment next week to talk about DD's birth, and whether I can have a c/s this time; bit nervous but fingers crossed.

DD was 2 this week and she's having a party on Sunday so lots to do . Can't believe the time has gone so fast... or that I sound so much like my mother...

Definitely going to find out the sex at the 22 week scan (yes, I know the rest of the world has 20 week scans but here in SE London it's apparently 22!). But that's not til March 4 (boo, hiss). Can't wait.

Hope those moving have an easy time of it, and manage to keep cheerful.

Hi,

I've been lurking through this whole thread and Phoenix you are the unsung hero; thanks for religiously updating the July list. Could you please add me to it? I think I could be the old matriarch of the group at forty bluh, I mean 44 (but who's counting? )

I have a DS aged 21 this year(OMG where did those years go!) who's just finishing university, 1 early MC just about 4 wks, 1 hydatidiform mole, another DS aged 12 this year, probably another early MC (thought was just a period until bled through my jeans down to my knees, ooops, & ended up at A&E) I had a CVS in Nov 07 followed, sadly, by a TOP due to a bad result. Another CVS Dec 08 followed by a normal prelim result on Christmas Eve (best Xmas ever) and a normal full result (New Yrs Eve) V exciting timing. Oh, and it's a boy! DP thrilled and so too DS's tho they were more than a little shocked to hear the news. So, to summarise, I have 2 DS's aged 21 and 12 with another due July 8th. The sonographer said, blimey, you like your age gaps don't you? Er, yes, but I think I'll give the next 10 year gap a miss

I've put my 2 week scan back one week due to half term just in case there is a problem,as wouldn't want my 12yo to witness such upset but looking forward to having a peek at this LO & fingers crossed that all is ok.

I've found Mumsnet to be a wealth of helpful information and support to those who are less fortunate than we are (so far) with our pregnancies. Absolutely breaks my heart to read of some lady's losses, even on this thread. Perhaps, looking at my history (and my age!) those who have lost DC's will see that there is always hope whilst never of course forgetting those we lost.

On a cheerier note, Gillyan your post made me chuckle, as I too ate a packet of Fruit Salad AND Black Jacks the other day. Yum, yum! As long as it's not every day I tell myself........

Lovely to join you all and I wish u all successful, healthy pregnancies

xxxxx

rubyriley · 06/02/2009 17:49

Ooh, thanks also to lucasnorth for starting the new thread! xx

JLo2 · 06/02/2009 17:50

Hi all
Been a busy week with the snow. DC's have been off school for half the week and spent the other half trying not to fall over while taking them there! My balance is definitely strange, probably something to do with the extra weight out front Still got loads of snow here and although we've had a lot of fun, I'm now bored of it and just want to be able to get out the drive to get to work!

Christiana - Very pleased everything was okay with your scan. Your Downs results are definitely not the worst on here, mine are 1:480 and I am very happy with that

Wiltedrose - Cholestasis does usually occur after 30 weeks, but can show up a lot earlier. I had it with DS2 and symptoms first started at around 15 weeks. I know the repeated blood tests are a pain but if it turns out to be cholestasis then you will want to be closely monitored to make sure baby is okay. DS2 first threatened to arrive at 32 weeks, so I was glad I knew what was going on before 30 weeks. I escaped it with DS3 and have already had one lot of blood tests for it this time. Fingers crossed for both of us

Got my 20 week scan next Friday which is very exciting We're definitely going to find out the sex (although I can completely understand why some people might not want to) I have known with all 3DC's what I was having and have never regretted it. Will not be telling anyone else that we know though, as I like them to have the surprise Also got a consultant appointment on the same day (due to having had a CS with DS1, history of cholestasis and being on the 'slightly older' side), but don't expect that to be as exciting!

rubyriley · 06/02/2009 18:03

I agree JL02 re finding out the sex. My previous 2 were surprises but to know this time is just so exciting & takes some getting my head around. It's like, I can't believe we're having a little boy!! Fab. PS Would feel just as excited if it were a girl

Re the Downs odds, my friend had a 1:16 result from exemplary private care (she said even the Consultant seemed upset for her) and her little boy was born just over a yr ago. He's gorgeous and does not have Down Syndrome. I've learned from experience that odds are great for the majority but for the "1" they SUCK!!

Gillyan · 06/02/2009 20:02

natty Try not to get stressed over money, I know how stressful it can be though. When I had DD I was single by the time I found out I was pregnant and I wanted nothing to do with the father and I lived in a shared house withmy friends. Had huge debts that my entire months wage went to pay and I lived off the money I earned working 3 nights a wk in a club as a barmaid. I was sooooo stressed out and I made myself ill - all came good in the end and i had second hand eveything - did getthe sure star grant but when DD was about 5 months old as I didn't know about it. I stuck it in her savings account and bought things over the next year - I do sympathise with yu but don't fret too much - like you say it is only money Happt to say this time my pregnancy is planned and I'm very happy with my DP who has been Daddy to DD since she was 13months.

So glad I'm not alone with the spots and mad cravings!

I'm feeling really pregnant now and have been daydreaming about the baby, it all seems more real for some reason now. I think it sinks in the further on I get. On the subject of buyings, I just can't, I would feel like I was tempting fate - my mum drove me mad last time buying the odd little outfit here and there. I honeslty never really believed I was going to have the baby untill I was holding it as just kept thinking what if the worse happened. I'm like that now - not in an all consuming way but it's just at the back of my mind. I starting buying the few things I needed when I was 34wks pregnant lat time. I must say though being in a position to buy things now when I wasn't then, I am tempted to go a bit mad when I do start buying, we're having the 4D scan too, so thats splurging a bit.

LGOR Our scans are on the same day as are our due dates! Ooh exciting, I can't wait till we're all anouncing the births and checking in on everyone else.

deleting · 06/02/2009 21:42

christiana I think I win with my 1:4 chance of having down's syndrome and 1:6 of having patau/edward's syndromes. (all of which came back negative)

plot2 I sympathise with you. we have been going through a similar nightmare. our nuchal fluid was 8.2mm which is enormous apparently (it's now back within normal ranges ) and had 95% of serious abnormalities. We are slowly cancelling these out. we've had scans every two weeks, a cvs and today we had a detailed cardiac scan, which showed no abnormalities. The only clue as to what might have caused it was that today at the scan they noticed that the right side of the heart was very slightly larger and that at some point early on it might have had to have worked harder to compensate for something that has now righted itself. Our prognosis is now really good, but as you say, the problem with having no answers is that you can't relax and enjoy the pregnancy. Are you having a cvs/amnio to rule out edwards?

deleting · 06/02/2009 21:47

rubyriley - sorry to hear about your previous cvs result, glad you've got some good news now.

rubyriley · 06/02/2009 21:52

Gillyan I can't buy anything either, it just doesn't feel right to do that yet. Maybe after the 20 week scan but even then currently feel that there's no guarantees. Read on MS about someone who had their scan, then lost their perfect baby a few days later. It doesn't even bear thinking about And actually knowing that these things really happen wouldn't even make it easier/be less of a shock if it happened to us.

My DS's so far apart, I forget exactly when I bought things for either of them But fairly sure that did have the essentials prior to going into labour! Don't recall coming out of hospital, straight to the shops

Did buy a couple of small things last time, prior to my TOP, and a very emotional DP had to take them back (think he did this after CVS results, just before the pregnancy ended) So, could say we've had our fingers burnt. Also, very unlikely we'd have any more re my age, so couldn't keep items for possible future pregnancies.

woollyjo · 06/02/2009 21:52

Hi All,

Just back from London and FIL's funeral I'm so glad the formalities are now all done, it is nearly 3 weeks since he died. It was a bit tricky with all the family there and me looking such a pud again (I was 36 weeks when MIL died).

In all the arrangements and driving etc I completely forgot that turn 20 weeks this weekend and I have my scan on Monday! great, really looking forwards to it and hoping all is well.

rubyriley · 06/02/2009 22:02

deleting thanks. Horrible experience but sure others go through similar (and worse)
Congratulations on your news today! What a relief for you Have heard about the dangers of relying on the nuchal fold alone, as it can often resolve itself.
Did ask at my CVS what the baby's nuchal fold was, but the consultant said that they didn't do it routinely as was having the CVS anyway. Assume that nuchal fold used as a soft marker for chromosome problems which the CVS gives a definitive answer to anyway.

Hi everyone and welcome rubyriley Very excited to have you join us and having read your story I am sure you will find this thread a huge support.

Well I am feeling very sorry for myself. Having had a UTI over last weekend I have now developed some chesty cold thing. Had a temp of 102 for 2 days and am just coming out the other side. Managed to have a shower and wash my hair (feel much better now!) and come on mumsnet to see how you all are for the first time in days......must be feeling better!

DH had to cancel a business trip to China to stay at home and look after me, nightmare!

Anyway sorry to winge but am just so fed up of feeling so rough.

Have my heart scan on tuesday to make sure this one doesn't have a heart problem like DD. Quite nervous about that too. Oh it never ends does it.

Love, the normally quite chirpy, happy Patchybob xx

plot2 · 07/02/2009 11:29

Good morning all

Christiana had a brief look at your beauty thread sounds amazing well worth a try.

Patchybob I too have a dreadful cold, it's affected my voice so never sure what sound is going to come out when I speak! Dh prefers when no sound comes out ha ha! Hope you feel better soon. Where is your heart scan, mine is on Tuesday too, I'm very nervous. Does your dd still have heart probs?

Rubyriley good luck, it's lovely to hear your excitement.

Deleting thanks for your kind words. We're not having an amnio just yet but its on our radar. We'll wait to see what heart scan says first. At each scan we've gone to they are more sure its not Edwards so we're starting to discount that now thankfully.

Woollyjo sorry to hear about your FIL must be nice to get all formalities out of the way and be back home to grieve in your own way.

Patchybob · 07/02/2009 14:04

plot2 My scan is at the Evelina Children's hospital (part of St Thomas' Hospital in London) DD has a vsd, ventricular septal defect, basically a hole in the heart that hasn't closed with time like they thought it would. She is under the same consultant that I am seeing on tuesday which is reassuring. It doesn't bother her and is in a good place (or so they say) so it is just a case of waiting to see if it closes.

I hope your scan goes well.....catch up on tuesday x

plot2 · 07/02/2009 14:52

Snap Patchybob I'm at Evelina's on Tuesday too. My appt is in the morning. Not sure who I'm seeing as it was a telephone referral via a midwife I've never met but who's been brilliant and at the end of the phone throughout this whole drama.
Good luck might see you there!

plot2 my scan is in the afternoon, abit of a nightmare with school runs etc but my mum is sorting out the kids. We live in rural sussex so a trip to the big smoke is very exciting for us!! Thankfully dh is coming too as I am sure I would get horribly lost!!!

I hope all goes well for you. xx

ActivityApple LOL at the blocked drains, did my legs the other night for the first time in ages....they had started to get itchy they were so hairy!!!

Mij · 07/02/2009 17:03

I have NO idea what's going on with anyone so sorry for being so crap and will send out random hugs to anyone who needs one

Anyone talked about movement yet? I was expecting earlier wriggling this time, but haven't felt anything that feels like it did last time. What I am getting though, is a weird kind of adrenaline-rush type feeling, like butterflies when you're about to do something nice-exciting (rather than shit-scaredy iykwim) when my heart-rate increases a little. Anyone else..?

Got to go on a ciabatta errand now. Apparently DPs risotto won't be complete without more starchy carbs alongside it...

Misspaella · 07/02/2009 19:47

Money worries, pregnancy worries...and none of us can really have a stiff drink to settle the nerves. HUGS to everyone who if feeling a bit blah instead.

I think I may have blown my chances for a 2wk temping assignment. The girl wanted to meet me first and I was not my usual self. I caught DD's tummy bug and was basically green for all of the interview.

I also spent over 2 hours in Topshop (in Westfield, what a FAB mall) trying on bits and just couldn't decide on anything.

Nevermind.

QueenFee · 07/02/2009 21:41

Thought you could all do with a bit of cheering up...
Here is an amazing picture of a baby born at 21+6! She survived! Tiny Baby
Hope things start going better for you all x

I am 18+4 so this baby is only 3 weeks and 2 days older than my bump. Totally awe inspiring for me

deleting · 07/02/2009 22:04

christiana - will definiately try the cleanser, painful spot never surfaced and it's going now, but as I get older my skin is getting drier so this sounds ideal.

plot2 patchybob good luck for tuesday.

mij yes getting movements now, started a couple of weeks ago. Also get palpitations occasionally, had it today in fact. I just put everything down to hormones or stress.

Got a day off from kids today, went to visit a friend who had a baby just after Christmas. Still at that warm and snuffly stage.
