Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

OP posts:

Newb · 05/02/2009 12:06

We're hopefully going to find out at the next scan (week Monday yay!)) then shopping will begin in earnest. I'm looking forward to picturing a little him or her bumbling around in there.... MIL is desparate to know the name but def won't tell anyone that, as they'll start giving an opinion or trying to get us to change our minds. She was really fishing about to find out on the phone yesterday. no chance MIL!

plot2 · 05/02/2009 13:19

Hello all, can I join in and squeeze amongst those due on 16th. I already have a dd aged 2.
I have been lurking for quite a while but due to previous mcs and me being a bit old for this pregnancy mularky I wanted to wait until viable.
Alas all has not gone as smooth as wished for but would like to be amoung you supportive folk if you don't mind. I have had three scans already at the fmc and due another next week at St Thomas's fetal cardiac unit and I'm only 17 weeks! The problem is an absent ductus venosus which may or may not be a problem, all other tests within normal boundaries. One day I feel optimistic and other days I just want to cry.

I didn't want to know what we are having but the dr was a bit careless and we could see the meat and two veg quite clearly. I'm a bit disappointed at knowing I really wanted the experience of a surprise as we knew last time - ho hum, anyway look forward to catching up with you all as our bumps grow.

hello all again, can i rejoin please? I'm on the list with my due date as 25th july. Have not posted since I originally joined as I've been really bad with sickness etc and am only just feeling human again and actually having the motivation to do stuff.

Had my first scan last week (at 15 weeks) but the hospital have put me a week further along so my due date is now 18th July, so now I'm nearly 17 weeks.

I'm not sure I agree with this as my cycle is always the same so I'm pretty sure it would be impossible for me to have got pregnant at the time I would have needed to in order for me to now be 17 weeks. I'm going to have a word with my midwife as if the hospital have got it wrong then if I'm late (based on their date) then I could be induced a week earlier than if I was based on my date (which the doctor and midwife also agreed with).

Anyway need to get back to work but hopefully I'll be able to join in with conversation abit more now!

dannyg · 05/02/2009 13:48

Hiya all, was sooo annoyed last night Asda messed up my food shop, didn't get any of my frozen items which ment no ice lolly's so i made some lemonade ice cubes to eat instead. On a better note Ive just received my Angel sounds Doppler ans had a little listen to bubs, it was so nice to hear the heart beat & swooshing where bubs was moving around, well worth the money I just hope these things are OK to use x x

Phoenix · 05/02/2009 13:50

dannyg, mine hasn't come yet. Was it easy to find the heartbeat?

dannyg · 05/02/2009 14:10

Hia Phoenix it'll be worth the wait, When i first received it no light came on when i turned it on, but soon realised i had to attach the battery lol. It was really easy to use, i just put a small blob of gel about 3 Cm's below belly button and tilted doppler around until i picked bubs up, had to re position it a few times though as bubs kept moving lol x x

Wiltedrose · 05/02/2009 14:21

HI all and welcome to anyone new! Haven't been on much this week as been a bit of a difficult one - house sale fallen through again (we jinxed it by daring to pack a box) and then had to go into the antenatal assessment unit as a liver function test done at the ANC last week was higher than expected so had to have more bloods done.

Obviously a bit worried but it turns out they are looking for (sp?) choliestasis which is where you have a liver problems and you go all itchy - but since you don't get that until 30 weeks + it's obvious that isn't what it is. We're away this weekend so I'm going to switch my phone off, don't want to be summonsed back for more tests this weekend

Am 18 1/2 weeks and been feeling clear squirming for a few days now, v excited Still no NHS 20 week scan date, they can't even be bothered to return my calls - so I've booked a private scan and I'm going to send them the bill

Will definitely be finding out gender - I do completely respect that everyone feels differently about this but I have tried and tried to understand how you could not want to know but I can't Equally, I know that it some places they won't tell you even if you do want to know!! I think my personality in general is that I don't like suprises, and if I know it's a boy or girl I will be much more excited than if I don't know at all IYSWIM. I find it hard to get excited if I don't quite know what I'm getting excited about!!

I am also convinced that this one is a boy. If it's a girl will be delighted too but will just need to get my head round the idea and would much rather do that now than once it's out! Given the fact that we're moving, also need to know if I can clear out the girl clothes, there are sacks and sacks up in the loft!!!!

Gillyan · 05/02/2009 14:43

Welome to plot2 and congrats.

Hi lydia

Hello everyone!

deleting I am the same with the spots, keep getting them on my chest and all over my face and in my hair line and they are really sore - I have always been lucky and never had spots at all, I defo do not look blooming!

I want to know the sex of baba as it did my nut in last time not knowing - I sat for hours and hours saying 'i just want to know what it is!' Hopefully will find out at 20 wk scan - I'll be exactly 20 wks on the day and I was booked in for it after my booking appoint at 9 n half wks. How strange some of you haven't even had a date yet.

Going to the MW at 4pm and will get the results of all the blood tests including the downs one so fingers crossed everything is okay!

DP is off sick today which is a total rarity so he can come with me and listen to baby heartbeat for the first time.

BonzoDoodah · 05/02/2009 17:37

Hi Plot2 congratulations and commiserations. I had a quick look at what the ductus thing meant and it seems quite scary. Fingers crossed for you - have the doctors given you a prognosis?

On the finding the gender - I'm completely torn - control freak side WANTS TO KNOW ... the I like a surprise side is desperate not to know. Will probably not as it's a lovely thing to find out at the birth. And I definately WON'T be telling any of the grandparents the potential names. I just know I'd then face a battle with them trying to persuade us differently. My dad asked us what DD would have been called if she was a boy - and then nearly burst his sides laughing when I told him. Hmmm so that encourages me for this time doesn't it!

Can't wait for the 20 week scan ... it's SO long off (March) ... how can I wait that long [pouts].

Gillyan · 05/02/2009 20:18

Happy to report that all blood tests came back fine - the BARTS one for Downs came back as 1:24,000! How low is that! Heard baba Heartbeating again which was lovely. Lovely MW that I saw last time I was PG she has offered me an hour long appoint with her to go over my notes from last time as she is quite horrified by the things I was telling her about the birth, so good of her and it's exactly what i need. Just need to talk it out I guess as still don't know wether to go for elective section or normal delivery. I've got to ring to see her after my20 wk scan and after I have seen the consultant! My scan is 2 wks today - I am absolutley bursting with excitement/anxiety, just cannot wait to see little one, hopefully find out there's no probs and maybe even the sex! Feeling lots more movement now too.

Keep meaning to report to all my craving - FISH! It's so weird - I didn't even realise for over week that I had eaten it every single day for e.g.

Lunch - tuna salad - tea dominos pizza with tuna on!

Lunch tuna sandwich - tea - tuna pasta bake

Lunch - sushi - tea - ocean pie

Lunch - sushi - tea etc etc

Tuna can be dangerous if you eat it more than twice a wk because of the mercury levels in it! I totally forgot and it's just all I want to eat - really weird - today I had tuna salad for lunch and then salmon and rice for tea. Totally still off veg and meat and still well on salt and vinegar crisps but also the pickled onion monster munch - the OLD style one's in the big bag and they're dead crunchy, found them in a corner shop along with fruit salad and blackcurrant chewits! Yuuuuummmmyyyyy!

xxhunnyxx · 05/02/2009 21:10

Gillyan when I was suffering with sickness I would have chucked up just at the thought of eating anything fishy but over the past week I'm gettin like u. I opened a tin of tuna last night to make my sandwiches for today and ended up eating half the tin there and then, tasted sooooooooo good! Also got a cravings for sardines, mackerel and prawns.
Before I was pg I ate mainly chicken but now I've really gone off it. Weird.

ilikeyoursleeves · 05/02/2009 21:14

Welcome Plot2, I hope all goes well for you this pregnancy.

Gillyan that's funny re your cravings cos when I was PG with DS I was eating pickled onion monster munch and fruitellas! (not at the same time I might add).

I've not had anything too weird today, only had one packet of S&V crisps so that was a bit weird.

I'm at all you lot who are having 20 week scans, I'm getting one cos my hospital doesn't offer them boooooooooooooooooooo.

ilikeyoursleeves · 05/02/2009 21:15

I'm not getting one either- I can't type!

Misspaella · 05/02/2009 21:42

Welcome Plot2... Phoenix and anyone else with a doppler I am thoroughly jealous. This is my 3rd dc so don't think it is an investment I can justify to DH.

I had a terrible night last night. DD (20months this Sat) had a horrible tummy bug and woke up after midnight after having been sick in her cot. Cue her being sick every hour til about 10am. After some reassurance from an NHS Direct nurse that she was ok, we were all able to stop panicking that something sinister was lurking.

DD is doing ok and has kept some food and most importantly water down.

I just wanted to crawl in bed but DS needed dropping off and collecting from school and the usual parenting stuff (feeding, playing with etc). I did just give him toast for dinner and let him watch is fav dinosaur dvd.

Ohhhh, about your cravings chat, one of mine is chili flakes. I have been spicing up my cottage cheese with it and love it. And crunchy peanut butter. I am going through a jar a week!

ilikeyoursleeves · 05/02/2009 22:13

Misspaella dopplers aren't too pricey, £20 on ebay.

Sorry to hear about your DD, poor wee soul.

Off to bed now cos soooooooooooooooooooooooo tired but at least I'm off work now til Tuesday

LargeGlassofRed · 05/02/2009 23:38

Hi all, keep reading posts but never seam to have time to type anything.
Have my 20 week scan on the 19th of feb spot on 20 weeks.
Bought a doppler (angelsounds)from ebay having fun with it the dc's love listening, very difficult to work out which heart beat is which though.
Am getting huge and have been very hungry, funny have had loads of tuna this week too!

Been a manic few weeks, but feel slightly better as have some firmish plans now.
To cut a very long story short,
I'm going to be moving into rented with dp, we haven't lived together before and I haven't rented for years.

Have a mixture of excitement, sadness, fear, and exhaustion
But overall an overwhelming need to get sorted before the twins arrive,
Extream nesting
Have had to stop myself buying little babygrows, but they are just so cute
and haven't bought baby blue clothes for 11 yrs

Anyway brief ramble must get on and no some work,
Lovely hearing everyones news.

LargeGlassofRed · 05/02/2009 23:40

do some work

EvieBear · 06/02/2009 12:01

Hmmm... I'm not sure whether to order my pram or not, just saw a good deal on a website for the one I want. But is buying stuff early tempting fate and all that? Most people I know wait until 6/7 months and I will be 19 weeks next Tuesday.

PS I am also getting hard lumpy spots - v painful but how weird that a few of us are!

PPS got really stressed this morning and baby started moving - feel so guilty now, like i've stressed him/her out too! Wonder is it a reaction to my stress?

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 06/02/2009 12:35

i bought the pram, the nappies (wraps in small for reusables i already have) and some clothes, mostly sales stuff.
so im naughty cos im only 17 weeks myself.
but ive got no choice, DH stops working in april, and things here going to be really tight. so i have to buy everything i need now else the baby wont get anything lol.
should be able to claim the surestart maternity grant, but that wont cover much, need a new cot + mattress + bedding as DD has gone back into hers after a few bad weeks of climbing into my bed at 3am, then some clothes and breast pump it will prob be gone!

we have hit a major finacial hiccup, and are taking to path to bankrupsy right now, as tax credit cut our money by 200 a month and have said we were over paid for 07/08 as well, so we have practially nothing coming in and huge debts we cant pay.

ah dont you love the new year!!

glad to see so many ppl doing well on here, have been lurking but not posting for a while, been too busy to post.

love to all

natty x

EvieBear · 06/02/2009 12:45

Hi NattyPlus2... Don't forget your Health in Pregnancy grant too - a one-off of £190 btu every little helps!

You sounds quite chirpy even if things are tough... well done! I'm sure most of us will be hitting some kind of financial problems this year with the way things are going. Both me and DP's jobs have been in the firing line recently but we escaped this time round!

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 06/02/2009 12:53

ah yes that will be helpful. might use it to buy some luxury items, like feeding pillows etc.
you have to be positive, i got quite upset and weepy this week, but made kids and DH miserable, so decided its only money and long as i have a roof over my head food in the fridge and my health i will be ok!

plot2 · 06/02/2009 15:24

Hello again
I feel quick lucky I have had no bad side effects in this pregnancy, no ms, skin great, only one bad headache day but eating like a horse since conception! I was told by others that's a sign of a boy as didn't have it with dd guess they were right! Anyway feel I deserve some good luck in this pregnancy given our dilemma.

BonzoDoodah yes the ductus thing is quite scary and confusing. It's quite new research and if I'd had an NHS scan at 12 weeks instead of private I'd be non the wiser as NHS don't test for it.
Initially I was given a high risk for Edwards Sydrome as they thought it showed reverse flow then that was overrided as false as now they think it's absent. Most things I found on internet seem to be in conjunction with other abnormailities like thick nucal fold and in those cases prognosis is grim, but mine was 1.4mm and my downs risk went from 1:37 for my age to 1:952 with bloods despite this abnormality. It would be 1:1800 with a ductus! We've been assured that ES is unlikely as hands not clenched and all else seems ok. Basically we're still non the wiser as to what the actual problem is, baby growing normally. Just hope scan next week gives us some answers, it's hard to celebrate this pregnancy with such uncertainty which is such a shame given it is absolutely my last!

Love your veggie plot, I've just inherited one. Had to clear 7 years of overgrowth but all ready for spring planting now.

Who's enjoying the snow - its all thawed here now but had a great day off on Monday building dd's first snowman!

LargeGlassofRed · 06/02/2009 16:45

Natty going down same route as you moving to rented first though, have just started viewing houses.
As you say though its only money and hopefully by the time the twins are here life will be a whole lot simpler.
