Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

OP posts:

Queenfee that IS amazing....and it does put many things in perspective.

Christiana I am trying to come to grips with Ebay too for baby stuff. Even after having DS and DD we never have gotten anything from their (or sold anything). I need to be more savvy.

We are not finding out the sex. DH wants it to be surprise and the only reason I wanted to find out was to sort out the clothes/toys and sell/giveaway what we wouldn't need. Guess not really a good reason.

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 08/02/2009 10:44

missp, we not finding out either, the ony reason i would like to find out is to sort the clothes and toys too!
ah well will have to do it all after the baby is born!
im trying to save money atm, so that when baby is born i can just have a mini spending spree.
been transfering money into paypal, cos then i can get lots on ebay.
i would love a rocking nursing chair tho

Gillyan · 08/02/2009 11:27

queenfee that pic is amazing, I'm 18 + 3 so totally awe inspiring for me also!

rubyriley · 08/02/2009 14:24

Patchybob Good luck with your scan on Tuesday; scans are such an anxious/emotional/ scary time for all of us but especially when we are looking for a particular problem that we already have experience of. I think that I can cope as long as any problems are not so life threatening that the pregnancy is threatened. So long as the baby can survive and have a good quality of life. Let us know how you get on.

QueenFee Gorgeous, inspiring and moving photo. Hard to believe we all have a similar LO inside us!

mij My movement has been around since around 13 weeks, the usual butterflies, popping, tapping. I have quieter days where I swear he's sleeping and growing as after a quiet day I seem a whole lot bigger!! Watched baby bumps on YouTube (where heavily pregnant mums have filmed their LO's moving) and thought OMG what have I let myself in for??

Activityapple Yes, you've made me realise how much other aniseedy other things I'm eating! Thornton's liquorice toffee is so moreish that I eat a whole packet in one go and then feel VERY sick

That said, had a funny turn the other day 6pm-ish afer a long, active, outdoor in the cold freezing my nuts off (if I had any) kind of day. Ended up not getting home for lunch til 3.30pm and hadn't eaten since my breakfast at 8. On phone to DP whilst cooking tea, when suddenly heart rate picked up, felt hot & a bit nauseous and as tho a feeling of doom was coming over me Lay down on the cool floor (not usual behaviour for me!) and DP rang handy neighbour nurse/ex-midwife to come and check on me. Was upright by then, and she said probable cause was low blood sugar and to take more care re eating regularly. You're nearly half way and you have a physically demanding active life!! she said. Baby will apparently be fine, taking what it needs from me, leaving me feeling rather poorly! Been fine ever since and taking things slower whilst ensuring I don't miss meals Suppose we're told not to eat for two, only adding calories during the last trimester, but the other side of the coin is that THAT would never happen to be whilst not pregnant. Some common sense is required isn't it.

Thanks to everyone who has welcomed me; I look forward to this journey with my fellow baby buddies.

xxxx

rubyriley · 08/02/2009 14:28

Oops, typing error, feeling like about to collapse wouldn't happen to me when not pregnant! (Not be)

QueenFee · 08/02/2009 20:48

I'm all bright and cheery today. My DD has been sick for days and is finally back to herself
As for ebay I am a big fan. However it is easy to be ripped off. That said I have managed to get off there so far:
A car seat for only £16 - and its rrp was £200!
A souble pushchair brand new for LESS than they are selling second hand.
A Sling for about a quarter of its original price.

Couple of tips if you are thinking about it. Watch for ages before bidding. The key is know the cheapest price they sell at and get it for that. There will usually be another one next week - try not to get carried away in the heat of the moment.
Go for local pick up only stuff -It tends to sell for less
Bid in the last minute only.
Hope you all get some bargains
My baby has gone quiet for the moment haven't felt any kicks for a few days. I think though I have been so busy I just haven't noticed. I am very pleased I have finally got the cot up in DDs room and it fits fine (was a bit worried!) and so I now have a dumping ground for all this stuff I am accumulating

ilikeyoursleeves · 08/02/2009 21:56

Hi all, I am another Ebay fan! I bought a great bundle of pretty much new stuff for DS, about 40 items, fantastic condition and has been his entire winter wardrobe. Loads of folk have commented on how lovely the clothes are (they are Gap, Verbudet, next, John Rocha etc). Worth having a peek on ebay but there can be utter crap too so watch out.

Well news from me is that we bought a new car today! My car is great but the boot is tiny as in I need to take the wheels off DS's pram to get it in, so what with a double buggy on the horizon a new car was needed. It was all a bit quick, we went to look at them yesterday and put down a deposit today and will get it on Tuesday! It's a Mazda5 and we got a great deal yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

QueenFee · 08/02/2009 22:07

ooh a new car is always so exiting
Happy driving.
I (or rather DH!) am trying to make up my mind which 7 seater to buy...

Phoenix · 08/02/2009 22:09

I used to buy and sell loads on Ebay but don't bother with it now since they changed it all a few month back.

The Mazda 5 looks fab (i just googled it). We got a Xsara Picasso last month (we had one before and love them) also for the room issue. We couldn't quite work out how we could possibly get 2 children, pushchair and camping equipment/luggage into a Clio or Peugeot 107

My ds is 3yr old tomorrow , it doesn't seem 2 minutes ago since he was born.

Belgrano · 08/02/2009 22:23

Hi everyone
There are so many of us now that I spend all my time reading to catch up! Welcome newbies. Hoorah!
All ok here, I seem to have sprouted a massive bump now (17 wks tomorrow) and have heartburn and SPD ALREADY! Last time both of those started around 36 weeks so this seems unfair. There was only a week in between hideous sickness stopping and SPD starting when I could actually go to yoga as normal! Now I can't go again with the SPD and expect I won't be able to go until the baby is out and old enough to allow me out for a few hours. Maybe around next Christmas then??
Ah well, it will be worth it. Still holding out nervously for the 20 wk scan after my thick nuchal fold at 13 wks, so not properly bonding with my bump as I am sill a bit scared there is a problem. Poor baby, I look forward to (fingers crossed) knowing that all is ok so I can give it some love and get properly attached.
night everyone.

Phoenix · 08/02/2009 22:28

Those of you with SPD can you describe the pain. I have started a thread here describing my aches and i think i may have SPD/PGP.

Phoenix · 09/02/2009 08:43

My doppler just came and i found the heartbeat. I'm so happy now. Just over 2wks (feb 25th) til my scan so this will keep me calm til then

mummytobejuly09 · 09/02/2009 11:00

hey th of uly is my birthdsay and am due the 26th of july so excited and ive had a great pegnancy so far and no sickness yey

PrincessButtercup · 09/02/2009 11:37

Hi everyone and a special hello to all newcomers. I'm very envious of all these 20 week scans coming up so soon and hope they all go well. Mine's not until Friday 13th March (fantastic) and I'm quite nervous about it as my nuchal measurement was thickish.

I'm having a very lazy morning on the sofa today as I spent most of the weekend in near-tears and feeling generally rubbish. The result I think of a ridiculously hectic week, last week. DS and DD were off school & nursery for 2 days due to the snow, it was DS's 6th birthday on Sunday (class party on Saturday; family party on Sunday) and we had family staying over the weekend. I too had a funny turn just like yours rubyriley yesterday morning but as it was DS's birthday and was surrounded by in-laws,I just felt I had to get over it. Ridiculous!

I just wish I had someone to look after me today; to tuck me up with my hotty and cook all that healthy food that I'm desperate for but don't have the energy to prepare for myself. DH is in the thick of it at work and v stressed so I don't want him to take time out. I need my mummy! Right. Sorry, whinge over!

Gillyan I've been craving fish too recently and have been packing in the mackerel but I am desperate for sushi which I have been denying myself so far and miss more than anything. I might have to give in!

Christiana Thanks for the cleansing link. My skin is definitely hormonally challenged at the moment. I've been swearing by Eve Lom (lovely) and your method seems to be basically a much cheaper, home made version of that! Perfect.

Phoenix · 09/02/2009 11:45

Just got my triple test results in the post. It says downs risk factor is 1 in 1400. This puts me in a low risk group

Belgrano · 09/02/2009 11:46

SPD apparently feels slightly different for lots of people, but since it is essentially your pubic bone un-fusing a tiny bit and moving about when its not meant to, it can cause pain directly in the pubic bone or in the muscles and ligaments of your pelvis and hip sockets.
It tends to be worse if you try and stand on one leg (!) or spread your legs wide, like in yoga or breast stroke. Walking makes mine worse - like long walks I mean. It could be stabbing or low level annoying pain and is usually worse when I get up after sitting down.
Is that what you've got, Phoenix?

Phoenix · 09/02/2009 11:50

It's pain in my left butt cheek Belgrano. I've had it since i was about 8wk pg. It is worse at night especially turning over in bed.

Belgrano · 09/02/2009 11:53

Anyone else not really felt movement yet? Feeling left out as there are loads of posts on here about movement. I've felt a sort of deep belly squirming like pre-diarrhoea cramps (sorry! TMI!) which i am guessing might mean the baby is pointing inwards and kicking my intestines, or my placenta is at the front so I only feel it internally. I only get that every couple of days and it doesnt seem to be increasing much since I first felt it about 2 wks ago so maybe its just dodgy pregnancy tummy! So no little kicks or butterflies for me and I want some! I am 17 wks today and its my second DC.
Anyone else?

Phoenix · 09/02/2009 11:56

My second too and i'm 17+3 and not really feeling much. I sometimes think i do but can't be sure and tbh i can't really remember what kicks felt like . That's why i'm glad i've got the doppler now.

Belgrano · 09/02/2009 11:58

Phoenix - butt cheek could be also interpreted as 'hip socket', no? Have you asked the midwife for a physio referral?

Belgrano · 09/02/2009 11:59

I am too scared to get a doppler as think I would spend my entire life listening in and worrying if I couldn't find anything!
Does it help or hinder with paranoia?

Phoenix · 09/02/2009 12:04

Not seen mw yet and don't now til 31st March. I'm gonna go to GP one day this week to see what they say.

Doppler has helped my paranoia because i found the heartbeat.

Belgrano · 09/02/2009 12:16

Where did you all get your dopplers from then? And how much were they? I have scrolled back but can't seem to find any info on here (too many pages to look through maybe!) I am feeling tempted now!

Phoenix · 09/02/2009 12:25

Some were from Ebay, i got mine from Amazon but it was from a seller who also sells them on ebay. It's an angel sounds doppler. They're around £25-£30 inc. p&p. This is the one i got and it comes with a tube of the gel stuff.
