Anyone due July 2009? Part 2

Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

Hello all

Been lying in bed most of the weekend feeling sorry for myself with the complete exhaustion that only pregnancy seems to bring!!

Did manage to get out the house yesterday though with hubby and DD. We took a wander down to the river and canal as we had seen on the news that it was frozen over - DD loved watching the swans trying to walk on the ice and kept wanting to try and touch it!!

MS seems to be fading, but the reflux has started so I am swigging the Gaviscon quite regularly at night now!

Is anyone else getting hungrier?? I seem to want to graze from about 4pm to midnight. It is really annoying as just when I want to settle down to sleep I want a sandwich!!

Also any cravings out there yet? I can't seem to get enough of BBQ beef super noodles mixed with campbells meatballs in tomato sauce!!! My hubby thinks I have gone insane and everyone else just seems to think it's disgusting....but it's all have wanted for days. I guess it's not quite as bad as the cravings with DD where I was drinking salad cream out the bottle at 3am but I will have to watch the salt intake!!!! I am also so indecisive about what I want to eat until I actually get hungry, then I have no problem deciding what I want - it just depends if we have it in the house!! With DD we lived close enough to a 24h Tesco to be able to satisfy most of my cravings, but since moving to Cornwall the shops close at 8pm!!!

Hope people are all starting to feel better and that we get lots of lovely scan results this week and good news all round.

xxx

Hi all,

I had a pretty good week and felt ok (albeit very tired) monday to thursday. low and behold ms reared ugly head on friday which i dont work!

just spent today at in laws and fell asleep on sofa for about an hour and a half. just soooo tired all the time.

i am also eating like a horse and bump is very obvious. had to tell all at work because of it.

now 11 weeks + 3 days but still no scan date. very keen to get that first hurdle over and done with!

hope everyone else is keeping ok. sorry that some of you are worried about scan results. will be thinking about you.

woollyjo · 11/01/2009 20:02

beccabump Still on cereal bowls full of buttered peas, I can get through a kilo bag in a week easily

Phoenix · 11/01/2009 20:35

Updated list cos it hasn't been done for a few days

Welcome and congrats rhubarbrhubarb

I'm 13+2 now and my ms has gone (fingers x-ed) still tired though, can't last much past 9pm on a night. I've give in and bought some maternity trousers.

Does anyone know how long paid maternity leave is now? I've read the website but i can't work it out. Someone told me it depends on your employer as to wether they pay you for 26wks or 39wks.

rhubarbrhubarb · 11/01/2009 20:35

oooh thank you... I am initiated. How exciting! Good luck everyone and look forward to chatting to you.

lucasnorth · 11/01/2009 20:42

Hi rhubarbrhubarb
I'm in a similar boat to you - DD is 2. I'm so much more tired this time round than I was when pregnant with her! And the amount of lifting I'm doing!! Last time I was so careful... Ho hum.

Hi to the oldies too. No news from me really, just waiting for my consultant appointment in a couple of weeks.

OP posts:
lucasnorth · 11/01/2009 20:43

Oh, sorry phoenix, I don't know about mat leave (still a SAHM with DD so don't get any ). Someone on here should do though

OP posts:
Phoenix · 11/01/2009 20:44

I've got a nearly 3yr old ds and know what you mean about the lifting . God knows how you lot with 2, 3, 4 other dc's do it

Misspaella · 11/01/2009 20:53

Evening everyone

My MS is pretty much gone but I still feel soooooo tired. It's annoying as I am not even working this time round. I guess my 2 DC's keep me busier than I realise.

Phoenix re mat leave when I had DD (June 2007) mat pay increased to 9 months and I got 9 months of SMP and my company topped it up for the 1st 6months. Hope that helps.

Right ladies - bed is calling.
Night

Oh I am glad to hear everyone is tired!!! Very selfish of me, but I was starting to think that it was just me being rubbish!!!

I am exhausted, falling asleep on the sofa most afternoons. We have now told DD 5 and DS 7 who are so excited, and they very sweetly creep around me when I doze off! What a wicked mother!

Belgrano · 12/01/2009 12:06

Christiana where do you live? I want to have nice banlmy ozone overload swims in the sea! Wannna swap? Sounds gorgeous.

QueenFee · 12/01/2009 12:37

Hi there again
feels like ages since I popped in here last - It has taken me a while to read all the posts.
Glad folks are also starting to feel better - I am also permanently hungry. I haven't put on any weight yet due to ms but now I am about to make up for it.

I am currently having a big debate with myself as to whether to have a double or single pram. DS will be 3 just but will have just started nursery so will prop tire him out. Had double last time but that was a 2 yr gap. DS is still in pram every day so is that really going to change in the next 26 weeks!

BonzoDoodah · 12/01/2009 13:47

Queen Fe -you could have a single and a Buggy Board. My sister swore by them. They fold out of the way but flap down for the toddle to have a ride when they really need it. I've gone for a Phil and Teds but my DD will only just be 2 and so not walking far yet.

JLo2 · 12/01/2009 13:56

I'd definitely recommend the buggy board (anything to avoid a double buggy in my opinion!)
Used ours with DS1 & 2 who are 3 years apart, then again with DS2 & 3, who are 18 months apart, after about the first 6 months. Quite often DS 3 used to go on the buggy board with DS2 (who's a lazy little whatsit at the best of times) in the buggy. He was so little he couldn't even see over the top of the pushchair

lastboxoftampons · 12/01/2009 15:48

Hello all:

I've not been here for a while either! Glad to see that many are emerging from the fog of ms.

Very happy to report that we had our 12 week scan on Friday and all looks good! two arms, two legs, all manner of fingers and toes! Bit scary that it's got all that and is only 2 inches at the mo! Anyway i will FINALLY add myself to the due date list!

Phoenix I believe SMP is now 9 months, with your first 6 weeks paid at 90% of your salary and the remaining time at whatever the pay is (around £114/week).

Phoenix · 12/01/2009 19:28

Thanks lbot, i've asked work about maternity leave today. Apparently i get 18wks full pay and 21wks at around £117 p/w. Now to decide when to go on maternity leave , i'm thinking 4/5 wks before i'm due.

bellybaba · 12/01/2009 19:38

Hello,
May I join you on here? I am due on the 9th July and this is our first baby. Am very excited about it all. We are planning a water birth at home and I'm going to also use hypno birthing as well.
So far I've been feeling nauseas since my 6th week and it's still going strong. Am trying everything under the sun to ease it. But think I will just have to sit it out. Hope that's going to be sooner rather than later!

Phoenix · 12/01/2009 19:48

The direct.gov website does say 90% of pay for 6wks and then £117 for 33wks. I'll go by that rather than my manager.

Hi Bellybaba you're already on the list. Welcome and congrats

woollyjo · 12/01/2009 20:38

Hi to all the newbies great to see everyone is back again after xmas.

My poor dd (2)has chicken pox, I had completely forgotten how awful it is, all round her eyes, in her nappy etc. I could cry it looks so sore!

DH has been home with her today and I am doing the rest of the week, hope it stops raining so we can get out for walks, neither of us are staying in types, even when we're ill!

lastboxoftampons · 13/01/2009 12:03

Phoenix is it possible that your job pays above and beyond the SMP? 18 weeks at full pay sounds fab!

Woollyjo so sorry about DD And LOL I am so the staying-in type! ESPECIALLY when I'm ill! Whole days went by during Christmas break where I didn't even poke my head out the back door! That said we are in DIY hell and had been using that time to get some stuff done inside the house.

Hi bellybaba Not sure I'm on here enough to properly welcome you, but didn't want your post to go unanswered!

Anyone else have clothing issues? I'm 12+4 today and finding everything either tight and uncomfortable, or not long enough to hide the fact that everything is tight and uncomfortable I've got a few baggy, empire-line tops - that arent' even maternity! - but hesitate to wear them because we've now told a few people that we're expecting and I feel like if I wear them I'll look like I'm TRYING to look like I'm pregnant, IYSWIM? Plus, I feel like this is all happening way too early - I keep hearing stories about friends/family who didn't need maternity clothes until 17 weeks etc. I'm thinking of switching all my trousers for elastic waistbands! What are you all doing?

Hi bellybaba! How exciting to be expecting your 1st.

Lastbox I am still in my old clothes - just. I am wearing them below my tummy (on hips more than waist) and that seems to work for now. I want to buy/borrow/steal mat clothes as my old ones look dated.

Christiana I am sorry your mom has let you down again. Bet it made your blood boil.
