Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

Sorry, DD still running around so not much time but just wanted to say lydia thinking of you, and hope you've got some help from another doctor; your GP sounds a nightmare. Let us know how you're doing.

christiana: thanks, I'd be grateful if you could pass on details of the home birth discussion group - sounds a good idea to attend.

I'm meeting my midwife (of Pennywell Community team) for the first time next Thurs for booking appt, so will also discuss with her then. Sounds like we REALLY need to avoid ERI!

Misspaella · 09/01/2009 13:32

Just a quick check to see if everyone is doing well.

Christiana I may go out and get the Shiva DVD. I am still exercising but want to throw some yoga into the mix. It has great reviews on Amazon.

Lydia hope you have managed to get better care since your last post!

Better go - DD is down for a nap and DS is out with DH so I have time for a cheeky lie down.

Christiana that would be brill if you could review the Erin one too. I can't wait to get a hold of a dvd and get stuck in. I have never exercised during my previous 2 pg (but I was working f/t so time wasn't on my side). This time around I am doing spin, some swimming and the machines at the gym. I was doing body combat before I got pg but my ms was so bad this time round I kept missing the class and they won't let me restart it as I have been off for too long and I am now pg. I think I would be alright though....

Misspaella · 09/01/2009 17:30

Forgot to add that I was doing all these types of exercise before I got pg with no 3 as my only means of "me time" since I didn't end up going back to work after DD was born. I have always enjoyed fitness but it has become about mental health as well.

lydiathetattooedlady · 09/01/2009 18:56

Misspaella · 09/01/2009 19:51

Hi Lydia glad to hear you are better...personally I would keep your appt even if it has gotten better down there. It may look better but what if it comes back? Have you got any exciting plans this weekend?

Mine incl eating 1 of the 9 boxes of chocolates we have and going to the inlaws for lunch. I may exercise but I eat vast amounts too. Wonder why the pot belly has never disappeared since having DC's.

I know u should never ask a woman's weight but just wondering how much weight ppl have put on so far?
I'm 14+5 weeks and I've put on about 6-7 pounds so far and just wondering how this compares with other ppl?
Most of the weight actually went on in the first few weeks and I've actually managed to stay the same weight for about 2-3 weeks now.

LargeGlassofRed · 09/01/2009 21:37

ooh don't want to speak to soon 14 weeks today, but think ms is going off, have felt better the last couple of days and very hungry
hunny have put on 2 llbs so far but am sure it will pile on now ms looks like its on the way out.
My bump looks huge now will try and get round to taking a photo, also having lots of fluttering and pressure at times, one baby seams to be bottom left and one top right but I may be imagining it.
Really can't wait to find out the sex, was looking at little babygrows with dp the other day and he went all goey

Belgrano · 09/01/2009 22:03

Right - quick update if you are interested! I'm off to the Fetal Medicine Centre on Wednesday to see Prof Nikolaides for a second opinion nuchal test - he includes more detail like heart function and nasal bone presence so hopefully that will set my mind at rest. If not, he's supposed to be the best of the best with the CVS needle and can do it there and then so that's there if I need it after he's done the nuchal test.

Hope everyone's ok, sorry I've been totally preoccupied with my own problems this week. Hopefully will be better next week!!

Thanks for all your help and support though.

Just added my scan pic if any1 fancies a nosey.

Has any1 had accupuncture for a bad back? I was in a car accident back in May and had injuries to my lower back and neck. Had a course of physio and started swimming regularly and takin ibuprofen to reduce the inflammation and it got much better. However, then I got pregnant and couldn't face swimming due to constant sickness and tiredness and obviously can't take ibuprofen now and my probs have started botherin me again. I went to the doctors today and all he could suggest is taken paracetamol and cocodamol. Altho they're supposed to be ok in pregnancy i'd like to avoid takin too many thru the pregnancy. GP also says it's likely to just get worse as pregnancy continues. Also, the pain killers are only gonna treat the symptom and not the actual cause (inflammation).
The midwife suggested said that I can have accupuncture free on the NHS so I thought I'd give it a go, just wondered if anyone knows if it helps much?

Patchybob · 10/01/2009 09:34

xxhunnyxx I don't know about accupuncture for a bad back, but am a huge believer in accupuncture as a whole.

I have suffered from migraines for years and was on a cocktail of nasty pills to treat them. I started accupuncture about 18 months ago and came off the pills after about 2 months. Since then I hardly ever even get a small headache.

I had a bad one one day when I had an appointment anyway and it was gone about 10 minutes after she put the needles in. A true lifesaver. Its great for general pregnancy aches and pains too so I am sure it can only help. Go for it!

DH has taken my 2 dc out so I am off back to bed with my book and a cup of tea! xx

The free accupunture might just be in my area then (manchester). When I first saw the midwife I told her about my back probs and she gave me the number for the accupunture.
I'll give them a ring next week and get booked in.
I'm just dreading what it's going to be like in a few months time if it's already troubling me

Misspaella · 10/01/2009 19:54

Spkg of yoga christiana have you tried to Erin DVD yet. I am basically going to buy the DVD you recommend...no pressure, ok .

Hunny I know of a hospital on N London that offers free acupuncture to the pg women having their antenatal care there so I would investigate what your area offers. I hear it does wonders on a LOT of ailments.

Great news Natty.

Hi to anyone else out there.

JetLi · 10/01/2009 20:28

Hi all. Cheapest I can find Shiva Rea DVD is six quid delivered on eBay - item number 270318656899. HTH

JetLi · 10/01/2009 20:56

Oh also had 12 months of acupuncture & TCM for eczema and to help conceive. I'm a big believer - it's good stuff.
Friends have used it in conjunction with IVF and also for depression - all with excellent results.

nicky6 · 11/01/2009 14:12

hi all just a quickie to drop in and say hi - sorry for all those with scan results they are not happy with but try not to be too anxious .

been hectic here back at work and charlie (dd 11 mths) i think is about to cut her first tooth well its taken long enough but we have had false alarms before so we will see.

Anyway dh away with work for the next month only back sat and sun so hopefully not too many broken nights of sleep as what with morning sickness i will be a wreck!!!!

BonzoDoodah · 11/01/2009 16:18

hey all - lazy sunday here. Feelin slightly queasy and utterly shattered still. (When does the tiredness stop?)

xxhunnyxx I'm 12w+3 and have put on about 4-5lb so far - but I was very overweight to start with and still BF so boobs didn't need to grow this time (and didn't hurt either - blessing!!!). Mind you - I have been living on a diet almost entirely made up of salt and vinegar crisps and marmite on toast - so there can't be many nutrients going in yet.
