OMG Beans congrats !! what a lovely name and well done you not taking the pain relief ! I wondered where you were over the weekend . I look forward to hearing the full story and understand the tears - I am the same when I think of my wee boy or look at photos of him, blub, blub, blub - brace yourselves ladies who hve yet to give birth - get the kleenex out !

lovely name PD we considered Nina

yes Veggie it was the MW that noticed things were going awry and pressed the panic button to get the consultants in. kayz at them not supporting your HB.

aaahh jj she is gorgeous

snorris congrats and OUCH

Olipop sending you big hugs, hope all turns out ok, this is the last thing you need at this stage

LadyThompson · 08/12/2008 20:47

Lovely girls

Congratulations, Beans! What a pretty name. Really looking forward to hearing about it and very well done as well to Snorris!

Oli, I am SO sorry about your chickenpox stress. Beaming you holding in and immunity vibes. It was interesting to hear about the Tana Ramsay books. She demonstrated a great recipe on telly the other day (new Mummy staring vacantly at GMTV emoticon) and I'm not even much of a cook.

Turnip...I cann't wait until DD is old enough to be taken to Santa's grotto at Selfridges. I will probably explode with pleasure.

Happy belated birthdays to SL and our Veggie.

Mibbes, I am formula feeding but I hate to hear you upset about your bf troubles. I really, really hope things pick up a bit for you. I bet you are a super Mum and you are obviously busting a gut to look after little Evan. I know it's ok for me to say, but bottom line is that's what matters. Good luck.

Bisou - I am so impressed with all your sewing projects. I wish I could do all that. Is it relaxing to make stuff? You may all think I am a sex maniac to be wondering about fun and games so soon, but a good part of it is that it's a good way to relax I am not allowed to have a big submergy bath until the New Year (one of the disadvantages of a cs is that it's showers only for yonks) so I have got to do SOMETHING soothing....

Well, off to the blimmin' cottage hossie again today so LO could be weighed. She is finally back up to her birth weight again, nearly a fortnight later (it's not just bf babies that lose weight). Unfortunately I have got to go on stronger antibiotics for my scar, and the ones I am probably going on are very likely to give me thrush and will make me feel sick if I drink whilst taking them. Oooh, it's glamour all the way. It's a shame as a glass of something in the evening has been most enjoyable.

Does anyone want a book on breastfeeding and almost a full pack of Johnson's breastpads? It seems a shame to chuck them away. Just don't do what I did and accidentally stick the adhesive side to your (hugely tender) nipples.

I think Rosmerta and Arti are having babies [looks into the middle distance in allseeing, allknowing manner]

Veggiemummy · 08/12/2008 21:01

LadyT LOL at your sagely all knowing womenly foreknowledge of our ladies R & A giving birth.

Don't be ashamed of your need for pleasure ladyT I think we are all just in awe, poor DH is getting as much as he can at the moment because after DS was born my libido took a nosedive. However I had a NCT friend who was a very devout Christian who had married her husband at 39 and had her first baby at 40 so when the rest if us were in a sexual drought after bubs were born she was going at it he'll for leather because she hadn't had any for ages because she didn't do the sex before marriage thing. We were all quite jealous of her...um..enthusiasm.

LobstersLass · 08/12/2008 21:09

mibbes, I found you via the search mechanism! Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you! Many, many congratulations!! And love little Evan's name. xxx

kayzisexpecting · 08/12/2008 21:10

Well I think it has all stopped. With DS the bath made them a lot stronger and more regular.

I have covered my bump in Clary Sage in the hope it does something. I am feeling a bit sick, don't know if that could mean anything.

I am going to make sure we have sex tonight. Anything that could make labour start. It so cruel for it to seem to start and then stop again.

Hopefully in the morning I may have some news.

penny99 · 08/12/2008 21:44

Just a quick post to let you all know that Xavier Jake arrived on Friday 5 December. Waters broke at 2am, went to the hospital for a check up at 8.30 am. They confirmed that it was my waters, that everything looked ok and sent me home for either contractions to start or to be induced in 48 hours.

First contraction at 10 am and Xavier was in the world by 3pm. All happened very quickly, was the best labour I could have hoped for (only two paracetamol for pain relief!).

Am in love with my new little man. Will post more details later and congrats to all the other new mums.

Beans33 - our babies came so close to sharing a birthday!

Veggiemummy · 08/12/2008 21:54

hooray penny well done another little Aussie in the world.

JamInMyWellies · 08/12/2008 21:58

Evening all.. have tried to catch up but failed miserably as I am watching spooks so I am stealing LadyT's excellent catch up and second it all.

Mucho congratulations to our lovely new babies

So not much happening here tis D-day tom have been getting some quite strong BH but not much more, was very impressed that I managed to get through my b-day without it happenig so will now prob go 2wks over. Saw the midwife today and she is very happy for me not to be induced when the time comes and to go daily fot monitoring as I really dont want induction.

Ooh have added a pic to my profile of my huge bump go stare and laugh lots.

Must dash uber exciting bit there is about to be a bomb on the telly.

Kimberly1979 · 08/12/2008 21:59

Congrats penny!!! Love the name Xavier!!

GettingBiggerBird · 08/12/2008 22:11

Aaaaaggggghhhh, I'm so itchy! The butterscotch G&B did help momentarily though. Babblington - thanks for the tip, I had found a recommendation for it already and bought some but was trying a couple of homeopathic alternatives first as the man in the health food shop was adamant that I shouldn't take dandelion root in herb/capsule form in pregnancy. Given that the itching is worse and the homeopathy clearly isn't working I may have to ignore him...

Here's hoping we all get a good night's sleep [crossed-fingers emoticon].

waitinggirl · 08/12/2008 22:25

penny - hurrah hurrah hurrah! and only TWO PARACETAMOL - i just yelled something at the computer which i won't repeat, but suffice it to say, it was a yell of jealousy rather than anything else. can't wait to hear more...

thanks for the advice re: cold sores - will check up on that

ladyt - if no one else wants your bfing book and pads, i'll certainly have it - let me know if you've had other offers, or i'll try to email you directly.

suddenly thinking that since i've had no recognisable BHs, i don't want to start feeling them and think it's proper labour.

so what's the advice re: baths? is it supposed to sort out proper labour from false? i.e. a bath will stop false labour, but keep proper labour going?

IceCube · 08/12/2008 22:39

WG - think that's the idea, although I'm a first timer so not sure either.

I had load of BH last weekend, they were even really regular (roughly every 20mins) and the odd one was painful, but a bath before bedtime calmed them down enough for me to sleep and then after three days they stopped. I'm back to waiting and feeling like I could be in this condition for a while yet.

Veggiemummy · 08/12/2008 22:41

jam you look lovely. I would say pregnancy suits you but don't know what you look like otherwise. You little man is a cutie such great hair. I really should put a picture of me on my profile I think so far I only have dh and ds

kayzisexpecting · 09/12/2008 07:18

Morning,

No blooming baby here. I've got awful awful back ache and BabyKayz feels very low. He almost feels like he is about to fall out, which would be nice. It'd save me pushing him out.

Penny Congratulations!!!! Xavier is a great name.

Jam You look wonderful!!! Pregnancy really suits you. Your DS is gorgeous, he has lovely hair.

WG My MW said that if you think you are in early labour to have a bath. If it isn't labour they should stop but if it is labour then they won't stop. The bath will help ease the pain too.

Hope you are all well this morning.

Verso · 09/12/2008 07:46

WG I second the bath test for sorting out real and BH contractions. Definitely worked for me first time round.

penny congratulations!!! I, too, thought (but didn't quite utter) an expletive or several at the concept of two paracetamol. Blimey! Gadzooks!

I'm just totally today. My perfect baby did the most amazing night and I am SO grateful!! 10:30pm, 3:30am and 6:30am . She's like the babies everyone else had first time round, when my DD1 was up every half hour. Hallelujah!! Probably a one-off, but the fact she's done it even once gives me hope!

(Am bit happy. Does it show? )

DH is off to register the birth this morning and then I've got another mum-friend coming round with her three-week-old.

Olipop · 09/12/2008 08:03

Morning ...congratulations Penny that is fantastic news!
Thank you for all your kindness and immunity vibes! Only four days left til results should be available!
Well done Frieda...good girl!!!!!! Can I book one like that please! I think I was prob up around the same times with DS . He's got a stuffy nose and kept shouting out but wasn't awake when I got in there. Ended up awake from 3-4.30 just laying in bed getting bored!
Catch up soon x

kayzisexpecting · 09/12/2008 08:40

Verso I am glad you had a good night last night. Fingers crossed it is the first of many.

I forgot to tell you yesterday while I was ranting about my consultant. He said that I need to be induced on the 22nd Dec if BabyKayz isn't here by then. I reckon he has jinxed me.

Nolda · 09/12/2008 08:44

Congratulations PD, Beans, Snorris and Penny.

Sorry to hear about the chickenpox scare Olipop. I hope the test results will give you peace of mind.

No sign of my baby yet. Just as well as I came down with DH's flu over the weekend. I'm feeling a little better today but my hands swelled up in the night and I only just managed to get my rings off, ouch. Perhaps I should ring the MW but I'm due to see her on Thursday anyway (if baby hasn't arrived in the meantime).

EffiePerine · 09/12/2008 09:16

Congratulations Penny

Last day at work today, lots to do. Looking after DS tomorrow but am planning a lazy day on Thursday if the baby co-operates...

Was wide awake at 5am so v tired now.

Verso: that is a fabulous night . Are the feeds less painful now?

Turniphead1 · 09/12/2008 09:19

Well done penny we were just wondering about you yesterday! Sounds like a great labour and I love the name Xavier!

Oli hope all well on chickenpox immunity but as others have said it is very rare to have lost it. Fingers crossed!

Kayz your consultant sounds like a right t*sser. What does he mean you "have" to be induced on 22nd. Hopefully you will have had the babe by then, but if you are a lowrisk pg there is no reason why you would need to be induced if you were being monitored properly. Enjoy your Dad's visit today.

Nolda I would get that swelling checked out just in case.

Veggie your DS is sooooo cute. Never saw your piccies before!

Jam you look fabulous and your DS is a regular little Lord Fauntleroy with those blonde curls. We just don't do curls in my family - I would love a DC with a head of curls!

I have to take the car to the garage to be assessed to have the front air bag disabled (can't quite wedge in baby seat between the two DC in the back). They are telling me it might cost as much as £500 - I am livid!

Turniphead1 · 09/12/2008 09:20

Oh and Verso big claps for your DD2. What a star!!!!

emmanbump · 09/12/2008 09:37

Morning All,

Congratulations Snorris & Penny Oli I really do hope you are immune.

How disappointing Kayz maybe the backache is the begginings of labour?

Had another rubbish sleep last night TMI had terrible painfully trapped wind keep DH awake half the night as I was wriggling and kept getting up etc. Hmmm think the sleepless nights could be training for when the baby arrives.

Verso · 09/12/2008 09:37

Effie the feeds are much better now, yes. I'm using the MN-recommended-and-patented 'gob and shove' (?) technique - which is what I was doing originally until the mws interfered . She isn't 100% reliable latchwise, but much much better. I just hope her weight is 'acceptable' at the clinic today.

Sorry I've not kept up with all the new arrivals. Congratulations to everyone with their new babies. They're coming thick and fast now!!!

daisydora · 09/12/2008 10:17

Hello All

Have been trying desperately to catch up with you all but its impossible

So sorry I can't remember everyone who has had their babies...congratulations to you all. I hope you are all doing really well and are getting as much rest as possible.

DH went back to work today so I am desperately trying to give DD some attention while DS is on a feeding frenzy. I only got to sleep at 4am after he decided night was day and he wanted to stay awake, cuddle & feed and then DD woke at 7. DH was out by 7.30, I wonder if I'll ever cope.

Hope all you ladies that haven't popped yet have a restful and easy day with your feet up

traceface · 09/12/2008 10:27

Hi everyone!
congrats penny!
Breaking news... I only did one wee last night!!! OK, so maybe not that exciting for you all but it was a big event for me!
Verso - glad dd2 slept and fed well - keep it up little one!
Kayz - really hope your bubba makes an appearance soon...

Just been to my MW and she did a stretch and sweep, which was a bit uncomfortable but more painful for my prudish nature than a physical pain! Anyway, don't know if it will do anything, but there's been muchos blood since I got home, including a clotty blobby dark bit (sorry!). Should have asked her what was normal to expect after a sweep but was to keen to put my pants on and run waddle away! She wrote in my notes "cervix partially effaced (25%)" and something which looks like "central multips os, P/P Ceph - 4" No ida what any of that means so am going to google it! Any ideas?
