jumpjockey · 08/12/2008 18:31

Have posted a couple of pics on my profile page... she's mostly asleep at the moment and these are fairly representative!

kayzisexpecting · 08/12/2008 18:37

JJ she is gorgeous!!!

I think I am having contractions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They aren't very painful but my bump is so tight its unbelievable.

jumpjockey · 08/12/2008 18:42

oooh kayz how exciting! It's possible they're the last few BH's you'll have, as contractions are certainly if not painful (ahem!) then noticeably different from BHs. But I could well be wrong, everyone feels them differently! Keep us updated, will cross my fingers for you

kayzisexpecting · 08/12/2008 18:44

Some are a bit painful and some aren't. DH had a bit of a panic and had a mad tidy up and took the tarpaulin out of its packaging.

Turniphead1 · 08/12/2008 18:46

Beans big big congrats! Enjoy cuddling your wee girl.

and to you too Snorris such lovely news!

Oooh Kayz I am excited for you! And very proud of you for standing up to the ill-informed consultant. Veggie said it all so succinctly. I second all that.

PD love the name. Hope all well with you hon and you are getting some rest. Wasn't that also Artis name but a friend used it before her. (When I saw someone post "You got to use Nina after all I suddenly thought Arti had managed to produce a baby since this morning! My suggestion was Nancy to Arti which of course we now have too. LOVE all these pretty girls names.

Trace please don't worry about being insensitive mentioning that incident. We all know that such things can sadly but so so rarely happen. It is more important that you could vent about such an inappropriate FB message.

Hatty energy burts are DEFO a sign of things on the move (albeit maybe not for a couple of days. I varnished an entire built in desk and shelving when about to have DD and did my utility room out in tongue and groove panelling just before DS arrived. The mind boggles. What baby is going to care if your utility room is pannelled?? And Bisou is going great guns with all her sewing which might means things are kicking off for her (and at least her and your energy bursts are actually helpful for the baby )

GBB glad it wasn't the cholastis thing. How the heck are you doing??? I am so full of awe at you getting this far wuith twins (Not, obviously that someone with twins can help it if they come eraly - but you know what I mean). I can't even begin to think how moany I would be with two in here - I am bad enough with one!

WaitingGirl your tea party sounds lovely!! Well done getting the nursery done too. Don't know about having oral herpes but imagine its fine (obviously unlike having it down below!) But your M/W should know.

Jump all the godparents sound lovely. You are so organised!

I think, statistically, with so many people going on time/early I will be doing another 40 plus 10 again this time! Oh well....means it will be a whole other YEAR!

Turniphead1 · 08/12/2008 18:48

Trace I said that badly - it sounds like I think you were being insensitive, whereas I don't.

abbymeg · 08/12/2008 18:57

WG I read some things about cold sores and newborns on here when I thought I'd got one. I searched the pregnancy topic for threads. It seems that there could be a risk but you will need to have a look and decide for yourself. Thread called: COLD SORE and pregnancy-any danger for unborn baby in pregnancy topic. Can't do a link as I'm a bit clueless!

abbymeg · 08/12/2008 18:58

That didn't work!

SummerLightning · 08/12/2008 19:22

Hello everyone!!
Congrautlations Beans!! Love the name!

trace how odd of your friend re the facebook message....I hope it was a private message not one on your public profile! To be fair to her maybe she just wanted to check it wasn't you as she was worried, but still, mmm...engage brain before typing perhaps!?!?

kayz hope you get your homebirth and hope it is all happening tonight!

pd love the name and the photos. Especially the one in the carseat...awwwwwww.

Congrats snorris too. Very exciting all these babies arriving. I suspect I will end up being late too. I spent ages wandering round town today doing my Christmas shopping and don't feel like anything is imminent!! I am starting to have the odd Braxton hicks (I think) but that is it. My brother and SIL have arranged to come visit next Monday (3 days before due date), which is cutting it a bit fine!! He is training to be a doctor so maybe he is hoping to see some action...no chance, if anything starts happening he will be dispatched off home pronto, none of this "trust me I'm nearly a doctor rubbish"

I am also impressed with all this domestic goddessing! I have a sewing machine, but it has only seen any action at my best mates house!!! I do like cooking though.

Off to my best mates house for dinner, she was due a week last sat and is fed up!!

artichokes · 08/12/2008 19:26

Ooooh, good luck Kayz. Are you going to do a live labour thread?

Olipop · 08/12/2008 19:37

Evening girls! Congratulations Beans well done you! And well done to Snorris what a whopper!!!!

I haven't heard from Rosmerta either but would have thought I'd have got a text if she had produced. Daren't ring her as it is awful to get the 'have you had it yet' pestering!

Exciting news Kayz - lets hope you are for the off!

Now can I do a bit of shameless me posting. As I mentioned, I went for dinner on Saturday night. We had a call last night saying that one of the guys there has come down with ChickenPox. I phoned the midwife straight away and they called me back this morning. They came round to take a blood test to see if I have immunity. The results wont be available until at least Friday. The basic gist is that, if on Friday they discover I have immunity then all is well. However, if I go into labour before then, I will have to go into an isolation room at the hospital and be given drugs to delay the birth. Also, if results show that I don't have immunity then the baby is in danger if it comes within the incubation period of up to 21 days.......how many days til I'm due.....you guessed it..21 exactly.
Now I know that the chances of not being immune are quite slim (I checked with my Doctors and I had Chicken Pox when I was about 7) but it just seems like such a nasty stress to come at this late stage and is so contrary to the lovely homebirth that I had planned. Also, today is the day that I hit 37 weeks so was clear for the homebirth.
Now I have to just try not to think about it until Friday and try not to have the baby . And of course (as is always the case with these things) I keep feeling itchy!
I had a big blub today and rang DH in a panic which meant he rushed home and then I felt really silly.

chutneymary · 08/12/2008 19:42

Just a quick one from me...

Beans, many congratulations, how lovely! I think you have chosen beautiful names - my sister is Isabel so I am biased.

PD, I think Nina is lovely too and Camille is very delicate.

Congratulations Snorris, what a whopper! Hope you are all going well.

JJ, she is gorgeous. What a sweetie!

Fingers crossed for some action for you tonight, Kayz.

WG, I could write a book on having a boy when you expected a girl. I have to say that I am overwhelmed with love for my little fellow and would not swap him for a girl for anything (not girl bashing at all - I have 2 already of course. I was very disappointed when pg as I loved my girls so much and could not imagine loving a boy in the same way. Suffice it to say I do now he is here. He is wonderful.) Anyway, wait until you see the willy on the day before you get used to the sex. I carried all my babies exactly the same and people who just knew, were never wrong, etc etc frequently went for the wrong sex. It'll be all right on the night.

Hope all well with the feeding Verso - here's to a quiet night for us all.

Turnip, hope you don't have to sit around too long, but if you do you will have lots of your virtual mates willing you on over the festive period.

Love to everyone. M really is crying now so I must go.

chutneymary · 08/12/2008 19:45

X posts, Oli, how very worrying for you! Fingers crossed you are immune and all is well. I'll be thinking of you my love and praying you hold off til Friday. XXXXX

Olipop · 08/12/2008 19:52

Thanks Chutney...the likelyhood is slim...three weeks to go and was a week late with DS but its just weird to go from 'wahey....come on bubba, you can come out now!' to 'For gawds sake don't you dare try and get born in the next five days'.

A shock to the old system but I'll be fine I'm sure.

kayzisexpecting · 08/12/2008 19:57

They seem to have stopped.

I'm going to go and have a bath and see what happens from there. Hopefully they will start again.

Oli Hope everything is ok and you are immune.

Olipop · 08/12/2008 20:06

Oh no Kayz....dont' have a bath, that will relax you...go for a walk!!!! It's me that needs to sit in a bath for a week!!!!!

reban · 08/12/2008 20:18

congratuations snorris hope all is well with babysnorris!

oli i think its quite rare not to have immunity if you have already had chickn pox. In fact the one time i did knowingly come into contact with someone who then came down with chickenpox the following day, i phoned the midwife and all they asked was if i had had it, if not they would then check my natural immunity. Admittedly it was earlier on in that pregnancy but im sure everything will be fine xx

kayz maybe just some lovely big warning BH to get your body ready. I know with my ds1 i had some pretty big BH events leading up to his arrival and that labour was only 4 1/2 hours from start to finish. I think the general concensus is the more BH you get before hand the faster your labour is. Of course that could be complete rubbish, but its just my theory!

got a consultants appt tomorrow and am hoping they will do a sweep. I will be 38+3 and im so ready to have this baby, but i think they will only do it if my measurements are higher than the 10th centile, last week at the midwife i think i was about 25th centile so fingers crossed!

EffiePerine · 08/12/2008 20:19

Oli: how worrying - hope all will be OK. If you've had CP the chances are you'll be immune anyway. And for getting to 37 weeks, I'm at that magic number as well and it feels good to be full-term.

Snorris: wow, a lovely big baby! Look forward to hearing more about it (and the name).

PD: pics are lovely, esp the one of the family together. You look great for someone who gave birth a few days ago!

EffiePerine · 08/12/2008 20:20

Kayz: I've been getting lots of BHs and tightenings, but think the baby will be staying out for a while yet (I hope so anyway, I'd like to enjoy a bit of my ML!). DH has stated that he is too busy for me to have a baby yet and I have to hold off till Xmas at least .

Kimberly1979 · 08/12/2008 20:21

GBB Sorry to hear you have a rash. I had one last week too and it was awful! Turned out it was just dry skin and it was being made worse by the bump band on my maternity jeans. Started using aqueous cream and it went away within 2 days!

waitinggirl Do you know if you can get Abreva here in the UK?? It works wonders if you can. Whenever I get one of those I can start putting that on the cold sore and it usually goes away within a week or less if I catch it early enough. If not... you might try Carmex and just make sure you keep it on there all the time. Hope that helps...

kayz Hope things continue to move along for you. Take it easy and relax.

babblington · 08/12/2008 20:25

Getting Bigger Bird - check it is not PUPPPS - google it. If it is, take dandelion root - 3 in the morning, 3 in the evening, after 3 - 5 days it should clear up. May be the worst thing in your life in the meantime though!

Veggiemummy · 08/12/2008 20:28

oh Kayz was really hoping things were kicking off for you it's a bit late to go out for a walk but maybe you could get a bit of nooky in to possibly move things along. We are watching the tottenham v west ham game would that get you excited enough. Hey are still having back pain my back is so painful in the evenings I don't know if it us just hauling this huge bump around or the way I sit on the couch.

JJ lovely photos I really want to cuddle my boy now!!!

PLO sorry to hear about that with the chicken pox but at Leary they are being cautious chances are low and if it wasn't so close to your due date they prob wouldn't have even tested you.

I have added butterscotch green and blacks to our crimbo delivery, actually added 2 just in case I really really like it and don't want to share with DH.

Butterscotch G&B is my favourite flavour
