MsG · 13/12/2008 10:36

Is anyone else arguing a lot with their other halves a lot at the moment, or just me...? I keep trying not to snap but he just winds me up... Find it hard to stay calm, and I know I'm over-reacting. Any tips?

MissyK · 13/12/2008 11:40

Sorry no tips, but we had been arguing A LOT..
Seems to have calmed down in the last week, but everything he did at one stage annoyed me, I was convinced he was doing it on purpose to get a reaction out of me - of course he wasn't doing anything!! He came with me to a midwife app and I had her explain I wasn't meaning to snap & it was hormones.. He later joked about 'women sticking together' to his brother & I could have swung for him, even though I knew he was joking really..
Though I have been told this will be my last pregnancy otherwise we may end up divorced or he'll murder me & stick my body in the coal shed I didn't realise it had been THAT bad

MsG · 13/12/2008 11:56

Blimey!!

We're seeing the midwife on Monday so I will try to bring it up there - hopefully it will give him the chance to talk about his feelings too, if he will open up.

I just feel sometimes as if he doesn't understand how I feel, physically and mentally - this is apparent when he'll make remarks about me not getting much exercise. I know he says it out of concern because he wants me to be fit and healthy, but it makes me see red. I think I'm doing bloody well to be working full time (shifts as well) and doing a part time course with a lot of coursework!

Grrr. At least I'm not the only one. xx

divedaisy · 13/12/2008 13:12

Oh MsG my DH also passes remarks about me not exercising enough. I work in our business 6 days a week, look after DS - put to bed/homeworks/feed etc!, try to get some housework done and then I would really like to sit down rather than go swimming! (we'll I've been advised by 3 or 4 physios and consultants that swimming is bad for me due to prolapsed discs in my neck - but what do they know??!)

Anyway I've just sold a BMX!!

Oh - if anyone has a child who is mad for Lego , and you're going mad because it gets everywhere and is a pain to try to keep tidy, Lidle has small drawers for £11-£12 - the ones usually used for nuts and bolts. I bought 2 for ds and spent 2 hours last night starting to get his stuff into them. Also got a set of 6+2 drawers from Littlewoods.com for £29.99 (+P&P) to store the bigger bits. He is so pleased I bought them for him 'Oh Thank you Mummy for buying them for me - they're fan-dabby-dozey!!!' See wee boys can be sweet too!

Hi Febes - I kinda wanted a surprise too but DH wants to find out, so I guess I'll have to see if we can be told - if not I'll be fine with it but he'll probably be disappointed!

OP posts:
daizydoo · 13/12/2008 16:08

divedaisy, my DH wanted to know the sex at the 20 week scan when I had ds. I didn't want to know and said seen as I was the one actually giving birth I thought I had the deciding vote and we didn't find out!! He didn't question it either!
I've definitely been more snappy and irritable over the past few days. I get less sympathy than when I was pregnant with ds. I firmly believe that all men should experience pregnancy for at least 24hrs, then they would understand us women alot better!

divedaisy · 13/12/2008 16:11

My 'perception' of my mood is that I'm OK. I do get tired and grumpy in teh evenings, but on the whole my view is that I'm ok - but maybe DH sees it differently! I do know I have had a few really bad outbursts aimed at both DH & DS - I hate myself for them esp DS as he can't argue back....

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 13/12/2008 18:17

sorry to hijack but JAEL just wondered how santa at harrods was as i don't whether to bother using our tickets. some people have said it was a bit rubbish.

pulapula · 13/12/2008 19:18

With my 1st pg, I wanted to know the sex, but DH didn't and he convinced me to keep it a surprise although i did try and look on the screen but couldnt see anything.

With my 2nd, we both wanted to know, so we could plan a bit but told people we didn't know and kept it our little secret.

With this one we want to find out, and will tell people too (or DD will tell them for us).

I think its nice to experience different things. As soon as i find out, I'm off to find something blue or pink for the new babs! Last time I didn't buy much as we didn't want people to guess that we knew and what we were having!

Hallo Peeps

Had a good day shopping today and done a fair bit of it now so feelig calmer. Got Charlotte out of her buggy and let her speed crawl the aisles in Borders which she thought was FAB and giggled non stop.

Was "dopplering" this morning and Pip gave a big wallop against the monitor - guess he/she didn't want to be disturbed

Verruca are all taped up and are def looking better IMO!!

detsy · 13/12/2008 21:57

Where is everyone tonight??

flippineck · 13/12/2008 22:08

Evening all!

Moods not too bad here at the moment (only as snappy as usual!) but I am feeling daftly tearful. We bought a real Christmas tree earlier and put it up after M went to bed - I cried because it was quite expensive but the size is wrong really, it's too small to stand on the floor (and I dont want it on the floor so there!) but it's a bit big to go on the table we usually use. It's on the table now, but it's not right, and we need to buy new lights too so I'm feeling really disappointed with it. I'm being completely irrational and DH is a bit confused, bless him. And then I saw a Barnardos advert on television and that made me cry too! Actually, one of the reasons why I'm feeling a bit fragile today - it was 3 years ago today I had the D&C after my first mc. Can't believe how much has happened since then.

Scan is next Friday, we're not going to find out the sex. We've had conversations about names but can't agree even on a shortlist yet! DD (M) had no name for three days after she was born because we kept changing our minds.

flippineck · 13/12/2008 22:10

Cross post detsy - I'm here! Might be off to bed soon though, all this crying is tiring!

LoobyLou36 · 13/12/2008 22:13

Hi detsy

I'm here.

Took stepdaughter to panto today then went to pub for tea so no washing up!

DH has slopped off to bed after 1.5 bottles of red and I'm sat up with stepdaughter watching XFactor results.

LoobyLou36 · 13/12/2008 22:15

All I've done tonight is watch crap saturday night telly programmes.

We don't think much of the XFactor xmas song.

DH will be snoring away by now {fhmm]

LoobyLou36 · 13/12/2008 22:19

I've got my scan on Monday and we're not finding out the sex either flippineck

We haven't talked about names much yet, although every name I have said DH hates

LoobyLou36 · 13/12/2008 22:21

Stepdaughter is really tired bless her but is determined to stay up to watch xfactor result.
I'm shattered too but thanks to DH have had to stay up.

delightedoldbag34 · 13/12/2008 22:35

Detsy I'm here too!
Feeling v fat having eaten a huge piece of lasagne for dinner (dad and step-mum came for dinner). Had some salad with it though (as if that makes it better).
In a slight panic about Christmas, not long and I'm not sorted.
Still up on a cloud of excitement and happiness with my baby news - still can't quite believe I'm actually having a boy. Had no idea I'd be so thrilled (sorry if that sounds weird).
DH hasn't got his head round it at all although he has asked me a couple of times 'how is baby Alexander?' - his favorite name at the mo (apart from Ray and Roy, and Rory) - hmm. Alexander is nice (shortened to Lex is lovely I think - I know a fabulous Lex, he's gorgeous). He has also made comments about teaching him rugby, golf and football so I hope that means he is warming to the idea. I feel sorry for him, he had so wanted 3 girls and assumed that was what it was

DD1 is the spare bedroom downstairs to be near us as has a horrid sore throat and cough and doesn't want to be upstairs on her own until we go up too. Bless. Poor little thing.
Might go to bed soon (although did get a lie in then slept 2 hrs on the sofa this pm with poorly DD1 - lovely snuggle under our fur throw - mmmmmm).

LoobyLou36 · 13/12/2008 22:42

Xfactor result is in so we're off to bed.

Night all.

llareggub · 14/12/2008 18:21

Where is everyone?

delightedoldbag34 · 14/12/2008 18:30

I'm here and wondering the same thing!

Have (very bravely I reckon) just started a thread in baby names asking for opinions on Mungo and Sholto. Bet they'll get absolutely slated.........can hardly wait!
Have had a v quiet weekend as DD's both not too well so we haven't left the house. Am just getting them to bed then off to pick up an Indian takeaway as have hardly eaten today and am STARVING.
