Oh, I'm he played here in Cambridge a couple of years ago and I missed it as was away, heard he is still v good tho.

SpangleMaker · 12/12/2008 18:41

delighted congrats on your blue one yay, someone else having the same as me! P'haps we should update the list with what we're having (or surprise).

I saw a really cute little boy on the train with his Dad today, only about 3, very chatty but also well behaved... made me go all gooey to think that could be DH and our little boy in a few years

Great that some of you like Ptolemy. I should've just asked you lot for a more tactful range of opinions! I like Evan, not as sure about Howard (though Howie is really nice) but then I had a really dull boss called Howard many years ago & haven't shaken the association. Llareggub I can't guess the B... the only B... bear I can think of is Bungle (please don't say...) !!!

Re Saskia/Sasha, both nice names. A friend of ours has a daughter named 'Sorsha' (pronounced like that but I've no idea how it's spelt).

detsy no worries about the top. I am the world's worst person for posting things - I can easily get as far as putting a stamp on, it's just the posting bit I can't do. I have to sit on the train holding my letters so I'll put them in the post box at the station but I regularly end up in the office, still clutching the letters! Hope your SA trip went well - it must have been so tiring. Do they let you go business class?

divedaisy · 12/12/2008 19:38

Austin reminds me of Austin Powers - I wouldn't inflict that chest hair on anyone!!!

daizydoo · 12/12/2008 19:56

Sorry but my friends dog is called Howie! My grandad was called Howard though, which I quite like, but DH doesn't. Not sure about Ptolemy or Sacha for a boy. I'm quite liking Xander for a boy, but yet again Dh doesn't like it!!

delightedoldbag34 · 12/12/2008 20:14

divedaisy thanks for keeping my secret [turns up collar of raincoat and puts brown paper bag over head just to make sure].

Dh has gone out with his dad for a drink. I was hoping we could have a night in and was even planning perhaps a small glass of wine to celebrate the clear amnio result. But not happening . So am all alone with crap on the telly. Boo.
Now don't know what, if anything, I want to eat for dinner. Was planning on pizza but...........
DD1 not feeling well now either so on edge about that. Hope she feels better in the morn, can't bear another bug in the house! DH has only just recovered from flu.

pulapula · 12/12/2008 20:16

My BIL is an Austen- he's nothing like Austin Powers or the "strictly" one!

Spangle- as a first-timer you probably haven't experienced cbeebies yet- the bear in question is on there!

delightedoldbag34 · 12/12/2008 20:20

I really liked the name Austin. But since watching strictly I just couldn't bear to use it. Bleurgh. Although pula I'm sure your BIL is lovely!

Just thought of clues for the name of the bear:
1st syllable - where chickens lay their eggs (unless they are free range of course)
2nd syllable - a
3rd syllable - live in a hive with the queen!

Ooh I'm so clever.
(hope I'm thinking of the right one

See, can you tell I'm bored?
Might have to go surfing online and spend some money.....

divedaisy · 12/12/2008 20:29

Names I like - for a girl (cos I think I'm haviing a girl - will hopefully find out on New Years Eve!) Amy, Emily, Keziah, Clarabel, Madison, Victoria Rose, Charis, Sophia, Susannah (?), Charlotte, Eleanor, Lucinda, & Olivia.

As for a boy - Oliver, Harrison (Harry - better than Harold), Joshua, Jonathan, Macauley, Matthew, Mitchell, Nathaniel, Reuben, Ryan, Samuel, Zachariah/Zachary & Henry.

I really like names that can be shortened!

OP posts:
divedaisy · 12/12/2008 20:42

delighted - love your cryptic clues! he he!
My DH is out too for a work night out. So me and ds watched Ice Age 2 and had pepperoni pizza. Ds is in sunroom building lego. I can't get off my bum to get him to bed - bad mum? Is 8:30 on a Friday night early for a nearly 6 year old who is meant to have football training in the morning?? I had planned an early night in bed tucked up with a Ian Rankin book and a BIG mug of tea.

bekkaboo · 12/12/2008 21:15

What would people think if we had a DS called Thomas and one called Henry? Do you think too thomas tank ish or not??

delightedoldbag34 · 12/12/2008 21:19

I wouldn' think that no bekka. I think Thomas and Henry sound great. Luvverlee!

delightedoldbag34 · 12/12/2008 21:24

divedaisy by the way I like lots of your names. Have you thought of Christabel ? similar to (but IMO) nicer than Clarabel if you like names like that.
Also like your boys names especially Macaulay - that is going on my list too (if you don't mind!) Jonathan is gorgeous too.

bekkaboo · 12/12/2008 21:27

who wants to hear my long list of names then? DH seems to have a comment on all of them!

Charles,
Samuel
Ben
Harley
Henry
Theo

Emily
Lily
Chloe
Evie

HAllo - congrats delighted your gut instinct was right then - well done you!

Spangle am going to get r's into gear and sent your top this weekend, i promise. Flew business class but still pretty uncomfy - wanted to be in first class due to the free pjs and slippers mostly... Long flight tho, 11 hours from Zurich, but very nice to see some sunshine.

I've restarted my name list which is currently pretty short and includes

Millie
Maisie
Mollie
Lucy

Harrison
alfie
Archie
Henry

We'd have name, "middle name" Pip Jacobs so has to be something that goes with that - and also with Charlotte Grace Bean Jacobs too! If last time is anything to go by it will change a million times before May tho. Tried to get DP interested in the name list but only showing slight interest.

I have to go and buy some more xmas pressies on line now

catch you all later x

Oh will update the list with scan dates etc

Oh regards the Bear - tell me its not the Big Blue Bear!!

Have changed my mind about Ptolemy as I really like the shortened version Tolly

detsy · 12/12/2008 22:45

Oh also - whoever said they were going to try the duck/duct tape (i think its actually duck as its super waterproof, but may be talking nonsense!) You have to put a piece of surgical tape over the top of it to be doubly sure to keep it in place!

I'm so glad I'm not alone with the fungal feet disorder - I have a little cluster thing going on too but I'm trying to kill the little blighters off whilst I can still get to my feet

MsG · 12/12/2008 22:57

I used to love that bear when I was a kid - funnily, can't remember it that well now!

JennstarOfWonder · 13/12/2008 05:59

Delighted - Batteryabee is very strange name

Llagrub - How about a different bear Paddington and it also goes with P.

colds - if you have a tickly cough then sucking any sweet is useful. Paracetamol, plenty of fluids and steam inhalation at least three times a day will all help lots. Just got over a horrid virus that made my chest hurt I was coughing so much and now I'm coming down with a cold. Been waking in the early hours to blow my nose, and staying awake thinking about what we need to pack. Moving house next saturday....

JennstarOfWonder · 13/12/2008 06:02

Detsy - I wish verrucas were fungal. They're viruses though the little blighters. They are meant to disappear by themselves if you leave them long enough, but 4 years is too long for me.
