Hmmm cote that's what I thought too, my friend swears her DD was 160-170 ish and her DS was never above 145bpm. Will be interesting to hear what your DS is in a couple of wks time?
(although the sensible half of my brain tells me this is all complete nonesense and heart rate can not be related to gender!)

frazzledoldbag34 · 24/11/2008 21:21

detsy - that's so funny. I was just wondering (as I am munching my crisps) if two bags means I have to do it TWICE!
(They are small bags though, not the big ones. I'm not that much of a piggy)

detsy · 24/11/2008 21:23

Cote its zizzi the restaurant - tho doubt and extra Z makes much difference. Its the same I think with Fiat Punto - means something similar in Brazil

Ok off to search for blisteze

detsy · 24/11/2008 21:25

Or once with extras I imagine frazzle - best limber up the jaw muscles with your crisp munching

nauseous · 24/11/2008 21:31

Evening all. Nice to catch up with you all! 6 months on full pay! Civil service sounds fab and very civilised! Nice one.

For the first time yesterday someone guessed I was pg just from how I looked!

Can't wait for the flutterings... Must remember to ask for fetal heart rate at the next scan. Hmm.. might do some research to see if there is any scientific basis for heart beat speed and gender...

I think Zizi is a cute name for a penis!

Still got mummy brain, and I don't like it! Keep doing/saying utterly stoopid things.

frazzledoldbag34 · 24/11/2008 21:32

detsy - eeeeww, you're putting me off my crisps!

SpangleMaker · 24/11/2008 21:34

cote detsy I just remembered that, it is 2 'z's. There was a case a while back of a bloke having his 'zizi' chopped off in a restaurant in London - IIRC it was Zizzi on the Strand. DH & I ate there once, but all diners' body parts remained intact that visit

OK I found this page from a thread on the pregnancy board. Been comparing my 12 week scan pictures with the scan images on there & tho it's not clear, looks like could be a girl. But then I read down the page the accuracy was 50% so no better than guessing... we'll see.

SpangleMaker · 24/11/2008 21:46

Hope I haven't scared everyone off with talk of chopping off zizis & angles of dangles??

frazzledoldbag34 · 24/11/2008 22:06

Am fascinated by the angle of the dangle theory.
My consultant told me he wouldn't hazard a guess until about 15 wks if he wanted to be accurate (and TBH there's no point knowing unless it;s correct!)
Crisps all gone.
Could fancy another cocktail though......

detsy · 24/11/2008 22:10

Hmm spangle given myself a quick science angle of dangle lesson and am just looking at 12 week scan. I want a surprise but couldn't help looking!

Think I'm heading for pink again but like you say 50/50 - interesting tho!

Had guessed due to your current state that DH's zizi was intact spangle

detsy · 24/11/2008 22:13

2 packets frazzle - oh dear.... its 10 past 10 shsouldn't you be elsewhere

detsy · 24/11/2008 22:15

God watching discovery real time now about a horrendous mother with out of control kids - in a horrid house and she's at at dead end - poor kids

detsy · 24/11/2008 22:18

oh where has everyone gone now..

detsy · 24/11/2008 22:19

Still no blisteze either

Momino · 24/11/2008 22:36

wish I'd have seen the dispatches programme. would love a good excuse to get a bugaboo (but then how would I transport dd2 who will only be 20 mos?).

a margarita for me too pleeease.

going to bed soon. am fed up with pregnant people (no, not you lot!) hounding me to get on an antenatal course that is tailored to their needs and antenatal teachers complaining to me about this and that.

have a full day to work tomorrow as inlaws are coming to babysit. could you police me and kick me off this forum if you think i'm not efficiently working? thanks.

detsy · 24/11/2008 22:40

Momi as i have said before I think i will have to gaffer tape my quinny and my bugaboo together but both face me so should be ok

detsy · 24/11/2008 22:45

It def works tho as my DD (1year old) said tonight after her cauliflower and brocc cheese - get yog!! No please though just yet - very proud mummy

divedaisy · 24/11/2008 22:50

detsy - I'm here now! glad you all found the new thread - I can't believe we're on page 2!! we can chat!!!

MsG - sleeping on your side is really only important later on when the baby is heavier. It is recommended to prevent your aorta getting squished and circulation compromised. Though, getting a good nights sleep is important - don;t beat yourself up if you can only get comfy on your back/tummy. Maybe you and DH need to sit down and have a good chat. Most things do work out, but you sound like someone who needs to be prepared. I too worried about hours after returning to work. Eventually I went back full time - but I was fortunate to have a mum who was able to look after DS whilst I was at work. There are no right answers - each persons situation is differnet, but if you are not sleeping due to worry it is a bit unfair of your DH to say not to worry about it yet.
As for getting comfy - what is the problem?? If you can afford it I can highly recommend a 'memory foam' mattress or mattress topper. I replaced our bed last christmas with a sprung base divan with a sprung mattress topped with 4" memory foam, coupled with memory foam pillows - one each is recommended to align your spine correctly. Both DH & I have agreed it has improved our sleep - though I feel like the princess and the pea getting into bed as its so high!! You also should try the maternity support pillows such as these to support yourself when in bed. And do try to limit what you drink before bedtime. I too get very thirsty - especially in the morning.

Cote - a boy!! Fantastic news!!!! I can't wait to find out the sex of ours. Have to wait till 31 Dec....

SweetB - when I was preg with DS i used to watch 'Countdown' on Channel 4 every day. When DS was born he recognised the tune!!!!! Then when he was learning to speak he'd ask for 'a vowel peas' or 'a consonant peas Carol'!!! Very impressive!!

DS got his white belt tonight at JuJitsu!! It's his first grade and I am so so proud of him!!!

sorry for long post

Nighty night

MsG · 24/11/2008 23:11

Thanks divedaisy! I'm just feeling a bit pathetic at the moment. I think it's because I had a m/c last year, so this time I didn't really fully accept I was pregnant until we had the scan, and now it feels like it's not really that long until our lives completely change...although in a way the weeks are really dragging!

We do have a memory foam mattress - thank goodness! I think I've been obsessing a bit about lying on my side, but my midwife said it's fine to lie on my back if I have a second pillow, but I find that a bit too uncomfortable on my neck and head.

I'm a bit too anxious in general anyway - I need to relax a bit more - must book myself in for a massage! I don't cope well when I'm really tired. Also, will be having acupuncture again soon - not been for a few weeks as she was away. That seems to help.

pulapula · 24/11/2008 23:48

MsG,

I currently sleep on my tummy (making the most of it while I still can!), and with my last pg I often slept on my back, even towards the end, and baby was fine. I used to like it as it would lead to a lot of movements so if I woke in the night I would find it reassuring to feel baby.

Don't know what I'm still doing awake. My DH is working away and not back til late Weds night, so my mum is here to help out with the DCs. At lunchtime, I put DS down for a nap, and then my mum entertained my DD whilst I fell asleep on the sofa for nearly 2 hours! I wasnt feeling as tired as usual, but guess i just thought I should make the most of the opportunity lol.
