laumiere · 26/12/2008 19:12

I'm glad it's not just me! I was at Monkey: Journey to the West and the bump got so excited, he actually kicked the woman sitting next to me!

emma2617 · 26/12/2008 22:05

Good evening ladies!! Hope everyone has a good Christmas!

I am in a lot of pain...I went flying out of my front door on the way to my mums on xmas eve! My foot, by shoulder, my back and my ribs are really sore!! On the upside, my grandparents gave me a cheque for the pram so I have a little more money! And my grandpa has said he will give us £50 a month for the first year to help while I'm on maternity pay (he did the same for my mum when I was born) needless to say we are very grateful!!

I will be 30 weeks tomorrow...this is the landmark time I have been waiting for, for some reason I still don't feel properly pregnant, thoungt I would at 30 weeks! Plus it 3/4 of the way through!!

I am going to bed now...for some reason I'm never as busy as I am at xmas...even when I think pm doing nothing! Its jolly tiring!

auntyspan · 28/12/2008 20:05

Hello ladies! It's my birthday today... does that mean I have to change the list?!?!

Had a great day, breakfast in bed (that gave me roaring indigestion but it was WELL worth it) then met family for lunch / general playing. DH has played a BLINDER all day and looked after DD all day leaving me to lounge around.

Looking forward to NOT being pregnant now and meeting this little pink kicker. We've pretty much decided to call her Lydia, after my Grandma. Thoughts?

Wolfblass · 28/12/2008 20:21

Ooh just wondering if i could add myself.

I'm Becs and expecting our second baby which wil be our first son! . Already have one little lady Georgia Mae and we are due 15th March.

Just about to retire to bed as getting kicked in the ribs and bump and back are feeling very achey (again!!)

xx

Slickbird · 28/12/2008 22:08

Happy Birthday AuntySpan! I love the name Lydia, always have, the only thing that's ever stopped me is my dad once said "Lydia Teapot" (Lid of a teapot - it's the way we say things up here) but if you're not Scottish that won't really make sense and won't matter one bit, so I say go for it!!

Welcome wolfblass still time to sqeeze one more in!

Hope everone had a lovely Christmas - I'm glad to say we did as everyone managed to be WELL in our house!! My sinuses are much much better and the headaches are gone, and keeping DD2 off nursery proved the right thing to do as she has been well for over a week now and has been laughing and smiling and generally just been glad not to be ill! Hurray! Long may it last! I am finishing up at work on the 16th Jan but am investigating mat allowance as work have said I don't qualify for SMP. I could argue the toss, but don't have the energy. I just want to get through the next 9 weeks - it has gone fast on one hand, but I am so over being pregnant!

I've also started to get the anxiety creeping in at night thinking: OMG how will I cope with 3, what will I do if DD2 is screaming and wake the newborn and then the newborn keeps the other awake etc etc etc. All natural I guess, but yes, it's all starting to sink in and I'm just feeling a bit AAARRRRGGHHHH!! But, I think, the not knowing is often worse than the reality! I used to worry before I had DD2 and I really don't know why, cos it's fine.

I spent from this morning til 8pm tonight completely gutting DD1's bedroom which was just hideous, got rid of four bin bags of crap and made it look beautiful. However, my back and ribs are killing me now cos I barely stopped. Our room's next. And then the kitchen's getting painted. Nesting perhaps??

meep · 29/12/2008 10:17

I am nesting too - sorting out all sorts of strange things that we haven't done since we moved in when dd was born!

Slickbird I am terrified at the thought of how I will cope with 2 - never mind 3!!! But you have already survived 2 and I am assured by friends and family that after surviving 2, 3 is a doddle!!!

My new baby stresses include:

  • when should I move dd into a proper bed (will have to be done in time for when the bean grows out of the moses basket)
  • when do I start potty training dd
  • will she try to carry the new baby by one leg and plonk it in the pram head first just like she does with the dolly she got for Christmas
  • when can I move dd and the new baby into a room together and will that just be a receipe for disaster
  • how will I get any sleep
  • how grumpy will dh be due to lack of sleep
  • will I be able to bf this time round
  • how will dd cope when I am away in hospital after my c-section
  • I could go on and on........

Hi wolfblass - love the name though it has made me ache for a big glass of red wine (though maybe not at this time of morning )

I can't wait to finish work. Dd woke up at 1.30am and I could feel work stress seeping back into my brain so I couldn't get back to sleep after I'd settled her - and I am even on holiday for another week - aaaggghhhh!!!!!

Anyway - hopse you all had a fabulous Christmas - anyone doing anything for Hogmanay - or will you all be tucked up in bed well before the bells like me?

goldmother2b · 29/12/2008 11:23

belated happy birthday auntyspan hope you had a good one!

Well, I am back to work this afternoon after my measly 4 day xmas break, have only 11 half days of work remaining until mat leave starts - hooray!
On the other hand I have only 11 half days in which to write and deliver 9 end of year reviews to my staff on top of the usual demands of my job........and I'll need at least a day to clear out all of my junk from my desk....

I've had the most frugal (food wise) christmas of my life due to the gestational diabetes, and am currently staring at a big box of Thorntons chocs which must remain sealed until junior arrives...life can be unfair. On a positive note I have done really well with my blood glucose levels over xmas so expect I will be given another week's grace from the insulin prescription, and I'm feeling thinner, so hopefully this healthy eating will allow me to shed the double chin that I seem to have grown in the last few months!

31 weeks tomorrow - only 7 weeks till induction - scary thought!

Wheelybug · 29/12/2008 12:22

Hi All - Happy belated birthday Aunty Span.

Hope you all had a lovely christmas - it was lovely here. At my parents so pretty relaxed - my bro and wife entertained dd which helped too ! I still had the lurgy all christmas and now DH has come down with it too and I'm entering my third week of snot-fest !

We have friends arriving to stay for 3 days tomorrow. They're really good friends who we don't see very often as they live in Scotland so looking forward to seeing them and hoping it will be quite relaxing (despite all the cooking !!).

Can't believe it'll soon be January. DD's birthday is end of January so am going to get that out the way before I start thinking about getting ready for March (you would have thought I would have learnt something from not having my bags packed in time last time but it looks not.....).

MKG · 29/12/2008 12:46

Welcome Wolfblass!

Happy Birthday Aunty!

My bump has exploded over the weekend and I am officially getting ready to never be pregnant again!

OP posts:
Wolfblass · 29/12/2008 13:58

Hi Ladies

I am currenlty at work sat on my stool behind my desk with a very achey back.

I'm a Hotel Reception / Duty Manager and currently preparing for Aston Villa to arrive. We are just over the Humber Bridge from Hull - who they are paying tomorrow evening, i'll be gone by the time they get here (hooray) so hopefully will miss all the signature touts!!

Just under 5 weeks for Maternity leave to start - - people keep asking what they will do without me and i just wonder what i will do without them - all the gossip and people i see every day turning into me at home alone until bump arrives!

We all had the sickness bug over xmas week. Georgia-Mae started with it in the early hours of Monday morning through until Tuesday. I came down with it on xmas eve, as did dp (although he was not sick as such) felt okayish xmas day, went to work Boxing day 06.30 - 3pm and boy did i feel poorly in the afternoon. In the evening i was back at the toilet bowl, dp on the phone to NHS Direct and an out of hours Dr on the way to me. Still not great Saturday, although sickness stopped - still feeling like i could do with a week on the sofa....

Georgia-Mae's birthday on the 9th and birthday party booked at a soft play for her and 9 friends, Dandi the Lion to attend, and yep - yet more expense (rolls eyes).

I've just phoned dp (Mark) to advise him that i really NEED vanilla ice cream -and not the cheap kind!!!! LMAO! It's to go with some Fresh Mango i've got in the fridge - i'd never usually eat the to together but i really really fancy it.

Shock Horror - but our tree has come down today (poor things was all dry and brittle - put up far too early) .

Cannot wait for the new year to start - but time is going far too quickly.

Hope you are all well xxx

laumiere · 29/12/2008 16:58

Hey, I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and already feeling like the bump is low-riding! I'm wondering if he's dropping early as he's my second, any mums out there had/getting this?

TwoCuteFestiveFairys · 29/12/2008 21:39

Hi Girls,

God where do i start? ive not posted for ages ..........just been so busy!! guess i will here and work my way up LOL

laumiere I remember with DD2 my bump was much lower with DD1 i could rest a cup on the top of my bump and almost balance it

wolfblass Hi & welcome

MKG so know that feeling of never wanting to be PG again!!! grrrrrrrr, i feel like a beached whale!! im actually trying to talk DH into having the big snip done during his paternity leave .

wheelybug fingers crossed your snot feast (like this term btw lol) will disappear along with 08!! get well soon ((hugs)).

goldmother well done you for keeping your sugars under control over xmas!! jeezzz that must have been so hard!! but fingers crossed you might just avoid the insulin totally. at you being just 7 weeks of your induction!! and what with DDs B/day its just gonna fly by!

meep you will have a similar age gap as what ive got between my girls, so i though id have a bash at answering some of your stresses .

  • when should I move dd into a proper bed (will have to be done in time for when the bean grows out of the moses basket)

We moved DD1 out of the cot about a mth before we needed it for DD2 - we made a big fuss of her, let her choosed her own bedding (the most gross dora set id ever seen LOL) and all was fine, she was actually quite excited about passing her cot onto DD2

  • when do I start potty training dd

You will just know when shes ready, DD1 was 2.8 and DD2 was 2.1, i personally wouldnt worry about it tbh if you wait until they are ready its a walk in the park..............honest!!!

  • will she try to carry the new baby by one leg and plonk it in the pram head first just like she does with the dolly she got for Christmas grin

This was one of the hardest things to deal with for me, i could never leave them alone in a room for even mini second in the early days, i used either take one of them with me or strap DD2 in her rocker/car seat/pram ect.

  • when can I move dd and the new baby into a room together and will that just be a receipe for disaster

My girls have shared a room since DD2 was 8mths old, we did put DD2 in her own room to start with - but she was a nightmare!! so rather that move her back in with us, we but her in with DD1 and she has been there ever since!! they rarely disturb each other (even in the early days) and we often find them in the same bed in the mornings..........tis very sweet!!

  • how will I get any sleep

No comment but you WILL manage!!

  • how grumpy will dh be due to lack of sleep grin

Not grumpy at all!!! its not allowed!! its against the rules..........and he is DOOMED if he does

  • will I be able to bf this time round

Yes if you wanted to of corse, there is support here in the shed load!!! including me i BF both my girls till they were turned 12 mths

  • how will dd cope when I am away in hospital after my c-section

DD2 was born at home so not quite the same situation but sadly DD2 was very ill and spent 2 weeks in hospital from 3 weeks old till she was 5 weeks, i obviously stayed with her and DH stayed with DD1 - she coped brilliantly!! tbh it was like a big adventure to her.

slickbird I share your fears!! i am keep trying to workout my morning routine!! its hard enough getting just the girls out for 8.20 everyday!!, how on earth will do that with a baby to care for too?? .

auntyspan Happy belated birthday - Hope you have a fab day

laumiere PMSL at the LO kicking the woman next to you!! did she notice?

Emma How are you now?? you need to slow down girl!!! did you get yourself checked over? (((hugs)) and i hope your not feeling as sore xx

dinny very at your chrissy pressies, how thoughtful.......wish my dh was .

Anyway i had better leave it there for now, as this is probably my longest ever post!! and is probably full of typos (cos i am shattered after typing all that LOL).

laumiere · 29/12/2008 21:45

Hi TwoCuteFestiveFairies!

Thanks for that, I feel a bit better, getting a bit paranoid now Still, onwards and upwards. Though I may punch the next person to say 'oooh are you expecting twins?' or 'you're carrying low!'

And she gave me a funny look when DS2 booted her, even funnier when I tried to explain!

And big snip seconded here, DH actually suggested it! (We tried for approx 2 weeks for both kiddos and I am so sick of being on the Pill). We're going to talk to the doc asap but apparently it's only £220 privately, much cheaper than another babe....

dinny · 29/12/2008 22:37

hello - it is driving me MAD trying to guess whether I am having a boy or girl, wish I'd found out at the scan now!! ARGH!!

TwoCuteFestiveFairys · 29/12/2008 22:40

Hi laumiere

Thankfully our local sexual health clinic do a fast turn around and can normally fit them in the week after the consultation, so hopefully we should be able to get DH sorted in no time at all , but your right 220 quid is quite reasonable.

Hows everyone doing with baby buys? we are almost done!! the only big thing we need to buy is a car seat, i was going to get an M&P one, but its got shite reviews so im thinking of a maxi cosi, so if anyone had a bargain, please let me know .

TwoCuteFestiveFairys · 29/12/2008 22:48

Dinny how are you carrying? i am defo all at the front this time, i dont even look pg from the back , with the girls i seemed to but more weight on my hips witch sort of even me out abit IYSWIM.

What do you think your having? with DD1 i would have been gob smacked if she had turned out to be a boy! i was convinced from very early on that she was girl. DD2 however i thought was a boy until about 6 week before my due date, then i just didnt have a clue LOL .

The little man keep kicking me under the rib tonight.......tis driving me crackers!!

dinny · 29/12/2008 22:57

TwoCuteFestiveFairys

hmmmm, I am carrying a bit lower this time than with my other two (a boy and a girl) but that could just be stomach muscles giving up!

dh says I don't look pregnant from behind....
or fat in the face, lol

I think of s/he as a girl all the time, but I was wrong BOTH times guessing with dd and ds.

I've also had sickness with all three, but this time was about the same level as with dd, with ds it was a bit worse....

HMMMMMMMMMMM, is there anything else I can do to guess??????

laumiere · 29/12/2008 23:05

Dinny,

I had such a tough time with DS1, when this pregnancy was a breeze I was convinced it was a girl until DS2 decided to flash the candy at the scan! I carried all over with DS1 and all out front this time, so I can't suggest anything I'm afraid. I did hear you crave sweets for a boy and savoury for a girl though.

dinny · 29/12/2008 23:17

lol at flash the candy!

my friend's husband who has NEVER GUESSED WRONG says it's a boy, so exect it must be

the scan pic looks like a cross between dd and ds, so no help there!!

lizziemun · 30/12/2008 07:23

Happy belated birthday Auntyspan.

Twocute, I'm glad your nearly done with your shopping. Dh has just realised that we only have 10wks so we had better get organised, So we are going to look at double buggies today. We don't need much only a double buggy and a few 0-3mth clothes as i got rid of my 0 - 6mth clothes as we were not having anymore after dd2 opps. Dh is going to have the snip as i can not take any hormones as they make my pmt realy bad.

Oh and we have to think of a name as well.

Although i don't feel like doing any of it as i just want to curl up into a ball and hide from the world. As i had to say bye to my dad yesterday as we were told on christmas eve that he only had days rather then months with his cancer .

Wolfblass · 30/12/2008 08:25

I'm carrying this one higher than i did with DD. I am still only visibly pg from the front and happy to say i am all bump again - which is great as i lost 2 stone at SW just before i fell pg (come to think of it i lost 2.5 stone 6 years ago just before falling pg with DD and both babies were conceived on a holiday/break - pmsl)

As for baby buys we are not sorted yet - at all!

Pram is in the shop waiting to be collected when we are ready (i've opted for the Bebecar Ip op in Chilli and love it) and will be having the maxi cosi seat with base as it's the only one that seems to fit in the vehicle we have (L200 Warrior)

We have a lovely cotbed from last time around in perfect condition, so need a new mattress and a new mattress for moses basket too.

Planning to try and breastfeed this time (failed miserably last time - gave in at 3.5 weeks as was given no help, advice or encouragewment by MW or HV ), so need expressor a few bottles etc.

Will wean baby myself so need a new blender etc.I'm not a fan of jars or packet foods.

Need to buy bath, toiletries, clothes, blankets, gro bags (as i prefer the sleeping bags to bedding) monitors, nightlight / mobile, get basically everything

Under 5 weeks until Maternity leave - that is going to fly by! lol

I'm back to being tired and achey in the evening so am in bed really early watching tv / reading. Dp and i are leading seperate lives lmao.

I really waddle now and bump sticks out of my suit ridiculously - i can only do up the top button which is breast height....

Hope you are all well

Becs x

meep · 30/12/2008 11:00

TwoCuteFestiveFairys what a star you are for answering all my worries - feel much better hearing from someone who has done it before - thank you so much

The only baby buy here will be a Closer sling - will hopefully cart the bean around in the sling leaving my hands free to deal with dd. I have also got a very old and unfashionable double buggy which will be good for long walks or when dd refuses to walk!

Apart from that I have everything from when dd was born - will only beed to buy blue stuff if the bean turns out to be a boy!

laumiere it's funny you heard that it's sweet cravings for a boy and savoury for a girl - I heard the opposite . With dd I craved fruit and fruit jiuce - and guess what I've been craving this time round too!

I still want to know what the bean is but dh doesn't! dinny I have an sealed envelope from my amnio that has the bean's sex in it. It is soooooo hard not to open it!

lizziemum - huge hug to you - life is so cruel sometimes.

emma2617 · 30/12/2008 11:30

twocute I'm better now thanks! Although I have constant back ache when I was doing quite well before! Think the fall has meant I brought on the natural aches a little earlier than nature had intended, but hey!
I have already slowed down xmas eve was my last day at work so I am now enjoying my time off before bambino arrives!

I thought we had everything we needed...then realised we need monitors, a sling, all bath time stuff!! I'm starting to have nightmares...I would usually be organised at least 4 months in advance of such a big event!!

On the plus side, I went shopping in the sales on saturday with my best friend from back home, known each other since we were 6! And we popped into next and between us spent £50 and got over £100 worth of super cute little outfits! And she treated him to a little outfit from mamas and papas...fortunately there is a factory shop near my mum and dads and with the sale it was only £17.50!

I am starting to nest quite badly now! I'm just ignoring those people who reckon its a sign that baby is on his way soon!!

meep I am very impressed at your self restraint in not opening your letter, I would have cracked by now!!

Lizziemun so sorry to hear about your dad, we lost DPs grandad just before xmas and that was hard enough. Stay strong, thinking of you xx

Hope everyone is well today!

TwoCuteFestiveFairys · 30/12/2008 11:42

lizziemun Im so sorry to hear about your loss .

Oh well i thought i had done with my shopping but you girls have just reminded me of a few things i still need!!!!

I need one of these

bath support thingy We had one of these for DD2 it was a god send, far better than messing around with baby bath, plus it means DH can bath all 3 DCs together.

A top and tail bowl

Steriliser - although im not to sure what to do about this, as baby will be BF so i would only be using it for dummys (if baby needs one)?? think i will see if i can manage without.

Oh well plenty of time LOL!! even though i will be 32 WEEKS tomorrow!!!! eeekkkkkkkkk!!!
