Glad to hear it Emma although your back may well still be hurting after the fall hopfully things will improve for you, i didnt ache much with my first PG, this time round i feel about 90 lol, but i will spare you all the detail as its likely to put you off any more .

How everyone doing on the bedroom front?? im so not interested!! (i lost all sex drive when i was ill) its driving DH potty so i might have to offer a simpathy shag at some point .

titmouse · 30/12/2008 12:38

hi ladies,
I've just been enjoying all the updates on here, I haven't been on for a little while as we are visting the in-laws.

Goldbug I am so impressed with your GD restraint, you will have earned those Thorntons come March!

Twocute - I got my mojo back but my next paragraph might have killed it again -

Sorry about this next question - is anybody else experiencing weird hair growth? I was weeping hysterically on boxing day morning when I discovered I've got some patches of hair sort of on my neck behind my ears. You know the film The Witches, where the maid finds the bottles of delayed action mouse-maker but thinks it is perfume and dabs it behind her ears, and she gets little furry patches and Rowan Atkinson is repulsed? Well, like that (husband says it isnt that bad but it sure feels like it)
I have got hairier in general but this furry business has really upset me!!

meep · 30/12/2008 14:32

titmouse I have a furry tummy! and if the sun shines on my face the wrong way I have a lot of blond fuzz round my jaw line!!!

It happened last time and went away about 4 months post birth. Unfortunately it coincided with hair loss on my head (which came out in handfuls) and I still have a whole new hairdo under my normal length hair 18 months later!

PS bedrooms are for sleeping in our house - not much else!!!

Slickbird · 30/12/2008 17:21

Lizzimum - So sorry to hear about your dad. I would be devastated too. It's so hard when you want them to at least be around for the baby being born. We had the same situation 8 years ago with DD1. DH's dad died exactly 3 months before she was born and it was so sad that he wasn't there to see her - but if it helps any, we found that having a new life kinda helped emphasise the cycle of life? Maybe you could give him your dad's name as a middle name if it is a boy? Just a thought, but will be thinking of you. (((Hugs))).

Meep I too have the chin fuzz thing going on, much to my dispair, but unfortunately I can't out it down to pregnancy as it just seems to have materialised in the last few years. Still, on a brighter note - my last two pregnancies involved hairy bellies and this one I seem to be ok. Either that or I am so used to it I have failed to notice the difference!!

RE: Getting jiggy with it - just when I get my mojo back, DH announced that he can't get horny when he feels like I third person is in the room and I have to agree I feel the same. It's like doing it in front of the kids or something.

Still, it made me laugh when we were discussing the size of my boobs and bump and he said; 'It's like two moons orbiting a planet..!' Just as well I'm thick skinned.

Wolfblass · 30/12/2008 18:19

sickbird that so made me giggle!!!! Exactly what dp more or less said to me! lol

MKG · 30/12/2008 20:24

Hi ladies. I had my lovely 3 hour gestational diabetes test today. It was great. I liked being a fly on the wall in the office. Some people came in and were totally nasty and others were hilarious. I should have the results back tomorrow afternoon so hopefully all was well. Apparently first results weren't extremely high, it could go either way.

Baby is still head down as was suspected two weeks ago. So I'm 30 weeks with a baby head down and ready to go. I wonder if I'll go early or not. Hopefully it's a sign of not being pregnant for 10 more weeks. I could do 8 more.

emma2617 · 31/12/2008 12:31

hope you are all well today! is anyone else being a misery tonight and staying in?! me and DP are staying in and having a nice meal and cuddles in front of the TV!! I don't feel up to a night out, and if I did force myself, I wouldn't last til midnight anyway!!

Cherrybaby · 31/12/2008 12:45

Oh, fantastic! Hi Emma! Is it your first baby too??? Yeahhhh, I found a manchester march mummy....or she found me!!!
I'm allright emma, apart from the awful heartburn. I think I'm becoming immune to Gaviscon now!
Hope you and bump are well after your fall...How many weeks are you now, and when are you due?

I'm definitely staying in; am useless after 6pm

TwoCuteFestiveFairys · 31/12/2008 14:33

Welcome Cherry

Im not to far away from your guys just over the Pennines in Sheffield .

MKG I think this little man is also head down, as most of the kicks are under my ribs, due you think they will stay this way thought , DD2 was breech at 37 week .

TwoCuteFestiveFairys · 31/12/2008 14:39

Oh and we bought car seat yeasterday, so the final big purchase is done YAY!!

We went for the Maxi cosi one, it fits both mine and DHs cars really well and it was actually 15 quid cheaper (£85) at out local independant baby shop than anywhere on line!!

Im still considering getting an Isofix base for it though?? has anyone used one before? are they worth added expense? im thinking it will be useful as it mean all 3 DCs will be able to travel in the back without having to break my back to strap them all in.

meep · 31/12/2008 14:52

twocute I've got an isofix base for the maxi cosi - it is great - just clicks straight in and out. When you get really good at it you can even get the carseat out without waking the baby!

Had MW appointment today - the bean is also head down - but as i'm only 28 weeks there is plenty of time and roomfor it to flip about if it so wishes. It was very very sriggly and kepy dodging out of the way so the MW had to chse round my bump to get the heartbeat! i wasn't too worried because this bean is super wriggly so I always know he/she is there!

Welcome cherrybaby emma - we're staying in tonight - have a steak pie ready to stick in the oven and mashed potatoes and that will be about as rocking as we'll get for Hogmanay!

Hope some of us manage to stay awake to see in 2009 - I suspect I won't!

laumiere · 31/12/2008 15:21

Cherrybaby - 31 March is my birthday! It's so great as birthdate when you're young, easter eggs and usually time off school. And you share a birthday with Christopher Walken.

Of course now I'm all grown up it means end of the tax year!

emma2617 · 31/12/2008 15:23

cherry I am 30 weeks, due 7th March! Am in Hyde! I'm okay, just getting super clumsy!! And yes, this is my first, I'm absolutely bricking it!!

Glad I'm not the only one staying in!! Hopefully ill make it to midnight, I'm gonna really try!!

twocute woohoo...I loved that feeling when all the big stuff was bought!

TwoCuteFestiveFairys · 31/12/2008 15:47

Thanks meep

My Dad is here at the moment - ive just showed him what you said about base and he is going to get me it..............YAY bless my darling father xxxx

And bless you for good timing .

As for new years eve, we are having some family around for drinks and a takeaway this evening, so we will all bring the NY in together, im not sure i will make it till midnight, but i will try

Wolfblass · 31/12/2008 17:49

We're being boring too! Even dp cannot have a drink - (well i'm at work from 06.45 in the morning so he's taking me!). We're having an indian and planning to watch Jools Holland and see in the new year (which will be a great test for me as i'm usually in bed by 8 watching tele, so we'll see how far i get..)

I've three days off from tomorrow so i know i'll get plenty of rest after tonight....

Then it's Maternity leave in 4 weeks!!!!

My parents have had Georgia-Mae for the day and have just bought me a few little bits for the baby (sleeping bag, all in one coat, towels etc) and now i'm really beginning to understand how much i really do have left to buy! LMAO!

Hope you all have a great night xxx

MKG · 01/01/2009 01:00

Happy new years ladies.

I have 4 hours left to wait, but probably won't stay awake long enough to see it.

Happy New Year ladies!

Is anyone else freaked out now that we're that bit closer?

My DH is totally in the doghouse. We went out tonight to the pub, fancy dress.

I obviously was not drinking, whereas man known as DH (dressed as a woman) decided to have quite a few pints. He was totally drunk by the end, I had to stop the car 4 times on the way home for him to be ill, got him in to bed where he fell into me after trying to get to the bathroom yet again, so now I am sat on the bloody sofa having had a good cry and feeling just a tad angry.

This was not the start to the year I wanted!

Sorry for the rant.

I also had a dr appointment today as I have the lovely thrush again, she checked my wee and it has a lot of sugar in it. Oh joy. I have my GTT on Monday anyway, so will wait to see what they say...

I wish I'd stayed in like most of you seem to have done!

TwoCuteFestiveFairys · 01/01/2009 11:44

Happy New Year Girls !!............bring on the Babies !!!

grinningbee What a twat!! men get be such arses!! , i hope he has a very sore head today!! .

I had a lot of sugar in my water towards then end of my PGs with both my girls, so try not to worry about to much.

We are out to the in-law for lunch this PM which i could do without as i am knackered, it was 1.30am before everyone sodded off last night, and then i couldnt get to bloody sleep!! as this little man (AKA little bugger) was kicking me under my ribs.

emma2617 · 01/01/2009 11:44

grinningbee DP did that to me last year (I as drinking but not drunk) which is one of the reasons I wanted to stay in this year! I feel your pain, men can be real inconsiderate twits sometimes!

Possible TMI here but what the hell! Since hitting the 2nd trimester I have been getting increasingly "damp" in the nether regions! Partially down to discharge (using pantyliners to handle that!) but also due to seriously increased sweating...is that normal? It has hoten to the point where I know have what can only be described as adult nappy rash up one side of my groin at the front from dampness and underwear chaffage very uncomfortable!

TwoCuteFestiveFairys · 01/01/2009 11:52

Happy New Year Emma

Your in the 3rd trimester LOL

Have you tried sudacream on the are where your sore? another thing that would worth a would to go knickerless whenever possible, so that the air can help thing to heal.

I also have to use pantie liners as i often find myself quite damp, but tbh this is down to me peeing myself everytime i cough LOL.

The discharge btw is normal, mine is always manky when PG.

emma2617 · 01/01/2009 12:42

twocute I know I'm in 3rd...but it started in 2nd, lol!! I know my brain is shot, but I'm not that bad!! I will go but some sudocreme and will definitely try the knickerless thing! My discharge has been ridiculous, had heard it was normal but it doesn't make me feel any better!! And its a good job I'm off sex cos it has an interesting meaty pong!!!

Can't believe I forgot to say happy new year, how rude of me!

Happy new year ladies! Welcome to the year that will see our new little arrivals!!

Slickbird · 01/01/2009 14:05

Happy New Year All!

Well we managed to go out to a friends last night which was the first (successful) night out in months and I managed to stay up til 2.30am!! However, I then pretty much stayed up all night with snoring DH, crying baby and after migrating to the couch (we were at Mum's) I got two hours sleep and an agonising pain in my hip for my trouble, so I'm pretty tired today. The family have all gone off to winter wonderland in Edinburgh this afternoon so I have some blissful peace to tidy a bit and get ready for dinner - Mum is going to make a curry so that will be nice, then back home for an early night I reckon!

Emma re: dampness, sometimes I think I've sat in something, so no, you are not alone!!

Twocute I'm peeing every time I sneeze - bloody nightmare! I hope this is something that will sort itself after the bambino is out cos I don't want to live like this - it will be Tenaladies all the way for me!!!

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy and bouncing baby New Year!

laweaselmys · 01/01/2009 16:41

Happy New Year!

I managed to convince some friends to mine for a dinner party instead of going out, so DP managed to get suitably sloshed and I got to be half civilised and go to bed reasonably early (about 1am) was lovely actually! Being the host is sometimes the only answer.

On another TMI front, I'm getting really fed up of my leaky boobs. Plus the other day I was wearing white PJ's and it looked kind of yellowish where I'd leaked? Normal? I don't know... I know it's not really milk at this point is it?

Now we're in the right year it does seem like baby girl is due very soon. There's very little left we need to get after all the hand me down's we've been given - just the replacement pushchair tbh. But some of the things are at DP's parents house (a few hours away) and it would help my paranoia if we could have them here instead. Oh well!

I feel a bit like I'm missing out on all the nesting and shopping as well though, so I've been scouring soon to go bust baby clothes shops for coats and thing for the next few winters while they're still stupidly cheap!

meep · 01/01/2009 18:27

Happy New Year ladies!

Very impressed taht some of you managed to stay up so late - I was asleep on teh sofa at 9.30pm and shuffled off to bed at 11pm. Unfortunately we live just off a busy junction which is the main route for ambulances into town so they kept me awake in the early hours - not exactly the nicest sound in the middle of the night

Dampness and sweating - definitely happening here ! emma just wait until you experience the post-baby sweats - what you have now is nothing compared to that! But it does go away!

I think leaky boobs are also normal - some do and some don't.

Isn't pregnancy lovely - you just become a big wobbly bag of leaky bodily fluids

I got a bit tearful today - was just feeling a bit overwhelmed with a toddler and the fact that this is the year that the baby will be born. Don't get me wrong, I am so looking forward to meeting the wee bundle but also bl**dy terrified!
