Hello everyone

thought i'd start the new thread since i haven't posted on the last one in a couple of days.

I'm well although my patience/tolerance/ability to smile has completely gone out of the window. I don't seem to have any patience with DD (she really is suffering) or DH. i'm moody and sulky. the only thing that seems to calm me down is a nice bath at the end of the day.

Is it all pregnancy hormones and is anyone else feeling the same!?!?!

I'l duck so you don't throw things at me, but I actually feel OK. Very surprising to me as I was so rough with DS. I get very tired in the early afternoon, but apart from that I'm alright. I've been tidying madly as well, especially in the nursery, as it's a bit of a mess from when DS moved out. I got out all of his old blankets and got very emotional as I can't imagine wrapping another babe in those precious things, it's funny because it's only the blankets, not the clothes.

Took DS swimming this morning and discoverd that if I swim on my front my bump drags along the bottom of the children's pool . Was very nice to feel weightless though.

Dazie, I passed my driving test last May and it is a great relief to DH that he hasn't been dragged around looking at baby stuff like before

hello fellow due in auguster's!!!!!!!! I've only found this website today and love the message board! i've been reading all you august girls news since you started out together~ some news has been so sad but most has been happy thank goodness. These babies just change our lives so much! I'm due on the 2nd August and am called 'fatbird' from colleagues at work as can no longer keep it a secret!! I laughed reading about the 'under bump' jeans as I have tried 3 different pairs & all fall down! Can anyone wear them in comfort??

K7 · 06/04/2005 20:36

Hello August people!
I'm creeping in on this one - due on the 31st, although have been told by doctor that things might be more advanced than that. Who knows...Anyway, it's really nice to hear about other people due at the same time.
Kizzy, I do hope your notes have turned up. They kept copies of my scan pics at the hospital, so they may let you have theirs in due course.
Anyone else having the most dreadful aches in their hips? I'm like an old woman... First baby for me so is all very new. I didn't realise how much changed so quickly. And when does the blooming bit kick in? Still hoping...

Twiga · 07/04/2005 10:35

{{{hugs}}}Kizzy, did you find your notes? All the very best for your scan this morning. Dh and I are getting more excited with each day about ours, only tweleve days to go!

Huge welcome to Fatbirdtoo and K7, great to see new faces still appearing! Fatbirdtoo I'm still on a quest for the perfect pair of jeans - made more urgent by the fact my normal ones are getting sooo uncomfortable. K7, myself and Colinsmommy are also due on the 31st so plenty of company right to the end and into September too if need be! I've been getting painful hip joints too and pain across my lower back, mostly when I've been led down - I hobble about when I'm first up but it seems to ease once I get going - hoping is a passing phase as lying on my sides gets really sore as a result.

Colinsmommy - good to have you back!

Have now got a definately noticable bump, two friends that I met for coffee this week both commented and one hadn't seen me for a fortnight and was amazed at the difference. Feeling much more comfortable and like myself in the last week or so. Also am definately feeling the baby move about which is just great.

Twiga · 07/04/2005 13:29

Have got the following vouchers from a Mothercare magazine which I picked up at the Baby show in Glasgow (I don't need them as not buying these items from mothercare) - are valid until 31st July 2005 - if anyone would like them let me know and can arrange to send them to you:

Save £10 on any pushchair over £125
Save £5 on any car seat over £60
Save £10 on any cot over £150
Save £5 off first order from www.mothercare.com (need to spend £50 or more)
Free Delivery on your order from ww.mothercare.com

We've got a couple of good size branches near us so can't see me needing to order on-line. Can only use one money off voucher per transactionbut would possibly be worth the hassle of multiple trips if buying these things from mothercare.

colinsmommy · 07/04/2005 16:24

Hi K7 and fatbirdtoo. How nice to have new people so far along. Welcome!

Twiga, I have the exact same joint pain as you do. I had it with Colin much earlier than now, but it never hurt as bad as it does now when I lie down. I can't sleep on my left side, can only sleep on my right.

I went to Colin's music class yesterday, and somehow we got into a pregnancy discussion, and realized that out of everyone there only my 2 friends knew I was pregnant. I don't know whether to be elated or really depressed that people think this is how I normally look. I think my growing boobs are somewhat helping hiding my stomach.

I have a question to all the due later in the monthers. Can other people feel your bump kicking? Last time I couldn't feel it myself until about 20 weeks, but DH has been able to feel it for almost a week now, and last night, we were watching my stomach move a bit. Not when it kicks all the time, just the more vigorous ones.

K7 · 07/04/2005 17:58

Not sure if what I'm feeling is actually the baby moving. First baby, so have no idea what to expect. The only way I can describe it is that it feels sort of fizzy - like slightly shuddery vibrations in my side. First time round I thought it was wind - nice! - but has been way to persistant for that. Is that it, do you think? Am looking forward to that Channel 4 programme tonight showing all the ultra-sound pics. Will have to tape Footballer's Wives...

Twiga · 07/04/2005 19:01

Colinsmommy, I'm def feeling kicks not all the time but there are some movements which feel more vigerous than others almost like being nudged but from the inside! Think I mentioned before that the mw measured the baby as up on the 90th centile at 16+2 and I think I was feeling movement from around 16+5 which is earlier than I expected due to being my first but am assuming if baby is that bit bigger that would account for it, plus ruled out wind as there was a noticeable pattern. Much sympathy on the joint thing, I have nights when I wake in the early hours and spend ages turning trying to find a way to get comfy without it being sore - some nights are better than others - do you think it could be mild psd/the start of psd? A kind mumsnetter has passed on her wedge pillow and I'm hoping that will help at least keep me off my back which seems to agrevate things.

K7, I'm really looking fwd to the channel four doc as well, looks like it will be fascinating and will be watching for when it reaches 19 weeks which is the stage we're at. Think I might bung a video in and record it.

colinsmommy · 07/04/2005 20:24

K7, I've been looking for a word to describe the first feeling of movement, and never been able to come up with one. I think fizzy describes it perfectly how the first movement feels. Mine has gone beyond fizzy and into kicks. I'm just surprised that DH can feel the really hard ones so early. It makes me wonder if they will move my date up for the next scan, because it seems like at least in movement, the baby is farther along than 19 weeks.

Twiga-I don't know what PSD is. If I don't have it, I don't read about it in pregnancy, because I figure if I read about it, I'll get it then. I had the same problem last time, but it was a pinched nerve, and the higher the baby got, the more it went away. I think it disappeared in about a month from now when I was pregnant with Colin, so hoping for the same this time. It still is really uncomfortable, though, because it definitely hurts the most in the joint, but shoots down my leg into my foot.

Twiga · 07/04/2005 20:57

psd is pubic synthis (spelling?) dysfunction and is where things loosen up too much causing pain in joints - can lead to being on crutches etc as pg progresses. I have no previous experience which is why I asked but I suspect the trapped nerve thing is nearer the mark - dh has suggested this. Also on the movement front, dh has felt the baby moving through my tummy but mostly when it's been more vigerous - has the advantage of being a Dr so used to feeling for things/knows how to distinguish between bowel movements, heart beats etc.

KMS · 07/04/2005 21:45

Hi guys, and welcome to fatbirdtoo and K7.

Twiga it's SPD. symphisis pubis dysfunction you can get more info about it on this website colinsmommy.SPD

I hope for your sake it isn't SPD as it can get really bad. I am now close to crutches. i had them from 35 wks in my last pg and I'm really upset that I wil probably need them in the next couple of weeks as I am only 22 wks now.

Feeling loads of movements now. DH can feel the big ones too, as can my boys. Yes it does start as a sort of fizzy/windy feeling, K7, but soon you wont mistake it for anything else. it is such a wonderful feeling and i feel it makes all the rest of the aches and pains worth it!

Hope the rest of the scans go well

Twiga · 07/04/2005 22:03

Thanks KMS, i thought I'd maybe got the letters muddled round but it didn't look right whichever way I typed it. Sorry that you're having such a rough time with it, hope the crutches can be held off a bit longer [hugs].

MissChief · 10/04/2005 11:38

HI all (and what no posts for a few days??) rolling along in the 20-something weeks, baby moving alot - much rolling tho worried had over-subdued him having taken valerian to sleep last night - worked on him but not me! Hope you're doing okay KMS.

kate100 · 10/04/2005 17:57

Hi all and welcome to fatbird and K7.

I've been visiting a friend for the weekend with DS and have definitely tired myself out, think I will be in bed shortly after DS tonight. Had a lovely time, but it reminded me that I am pregnant as I've been feeling so well.

My baby is very busy, much more so than DS and I can feel it turning full somersaults inside me. Very strange sensation, that I don't recall from last time. Also, baby bouncing around on my cervix, sometimes it feels as if it might jump right out!!

Yesterday I reached 24 weeks, so I allowed my self to finally buy someting for the new baby and have chosen a lovely new blanket, after my midweek meltdown about DS's blankets. I bought it with my winnings as I backed the winner in the National, do you think that baby will mind it was from, 'ill gotten gains'?

K7 · 10/04/2005 20:39

I hit the shops this afternoon as the sun was shining and wanted some clothes I could actually fit in to. Had reached the point when I dreaded getting dressed, just because everything felt tight. Hurrah for Next Maternity and Per Una at M+S! Lots of lovely things for summer. You watch - the snow will be back next week... Can someone tell me at what point my boobs will actually stop growing?! DH is offering to make me a bra from two old saucepans...

beachyhead · 11/04/2005 10:33

Well, I'm out of my jeans and into my fat clothes for sure now.....only 20 wks and feeling some movements, but nothing dh can feel on the outside yet... Scan on Friday, so we'll know what it it...we think its a girl......

had to test drive a people carrier at the weekend as this is our third (and No 2 could not be trusted to sit next to small baby without stuffing something up its nose)...very depressing. feels like a tank.

Found my wedge shaped pregnancy cushion in the loft at the weekend - joy on joy.......

Eulalia · 11/04/2005 18:18

Hi there - been away for awhile as I've had toothache which the dentist thinks is a gum infection as the tooth itself looked fine. He's not allowed to do fillings anyway while I am pregnant. I am on a course of antibiotics. Now I have dd's cold and a touch of earache but at least I can eat again. Had 4 days of eating mush as it hurt so much!

dd is 3 on Saturday so am busy organising a birthday party for her.

Hope everyone is still 'blooming' - the 3rd trimester isn't too far off.

blossom2 · 11/04/2005 18:59

Its frightening how fast this pregnancy is going. I'm 25 weeks already and will be in my 3rd trimester at the beginning of May!!!

But do feel chuffed with my baby shopping - managed to find some sleep-skirts (they don't have legs) with fold-over sleeves which act as mittens!!!

I'm so big!

OP posts:
beachyhead · 11/04/2005 19:04

I haven't done any baby shopping yet......don't really feel safe to yet.... I think I will post 28 weeks, which is kind of mid June for me...I think this is the VERY worst bit for me - 20 to 28 weeks, where if it arrived, it would be very touch and go....... This is my personal nightmare bit and I will be soooo happy to see myself in that last trimester (which is 28 onwards isn't it!)

I did venture into the loft at the weekend and spied two boxes full of clothes, blankets etc, but I am NOT going to bring them out until June 1st (half term) and then I'll start washing, sorting and buying some bits and bobs......

kate100 · 11/04/2005 19:21

Beachyhead, I feel a bit like you. I have bought a blanket for the new baby, but i'm not ready to get the baby clothes out of the loft and start arrangiing things yet, I think I'll wait until half term.

This time I've got a double sided pregnancy pillow, which is great as I do't have to move it when I roll over, perfect for me as I fidget.

Eulalia, the thought that the third timester is not far off has really cheered me up and you're right it isn't far off. From then on it's counting down to the big day, it takes so long to grow a baby, I already seem to have been pregnany for ages!!

colinsmommy · 12/04/2005 02:10

Hi all.

Is anyone else having a really clumsy time of it? I fell off my deck Sunday when we were having a barbecue. Its only about a 3 ft fall, but was carrying DS, and had to manage not to fall on him or the bump. I landed mostly on my legs, fortunately, and got a twisted ankle, knee, and some bruises and scrapes, but neither child seems to have suffered for it. I just can't believe how often I trip, drop things, or just fall down for no reason.

Having a baby shower for others in my playgroup tomorrow. We're all due in twos, and they are due next month. Can't wait.

K7, I know what you mean about boobs. Mine are already bigger this time then they were when I was bf'ing with Colin. I just want them to stop growing. I had to go out and buy some new bras a few weeks ago, which I find really annoying. My boobs really interfere with my golf game.

Twiga · 12/04/2005 08:08

Hi, am counting down the next 7 days as have my scan exactly a week today - can't wait! Will be twenty weeks as of tommorrow and it's nice to feel half way through. Can't believe how tired I am, got in from work yesterday and slept from 4pm until dh got home at 10.30pm ate some dinner then went back to bed until this morning. Still haven't sorted out my transfer at work, boss was off sick (again) so it never happened last week, should be sorted out today though.

colinsmommy, hope you're not feeling too stiff and sore after your fall yesterday.

Eulalia · 12/04/2005 09:47

So nice to see the sun shining! Forecast is good for Saturday thank goodness as I've hired a bouncy castle!

beachyhead - did you miscarry before - sorry I've forgotten....

Good luck Twiga if I don't have time to post again.

Must go and get shopping now.
