Obs am v for the way you have been treated and hope, by venting on here, that you are feeling a bit better about the situation. However, I really do think you need to make a formal complaint otherwise it will just get brushed under the carpet no doubt!! I agree with the others that you have had so much to cope with that I have nothing but admiration for you and how you have handled everything - and now you have 2 gorgeous little boys

Lol at you lot being fisted swept that is one thing I am glad I am not going to have done to me anyway!!

Nowt much going on here - been to see the MW this morning for my last ante-natal appointment (yippee!) - everything is fine and my BP is quite low - considering I had high bp from 35 weeks with DS, I am so pleased that it is ok this time round. Baby is back-to-back aswell (and Drswife I can also give you the 'truth' about back-to-back labours but I suspect you won't want to hear it ).

Obs in answer to your question about whose next, it won't be me! I have an elective cs booked for next Thursday so am quite happy to wait until then I think it is going to be either Mum2Becks or Monkey next - anyone taking bets??

Have done my best with the list.
Our penders, (had to choose words carefully), at top, becasue they are the ones we are rooting for.

Then the ones that have given birth.

And at the bottom, are some people that I just wasn't sure about. Wasn't sure if we had heard.

Forgive me if you are in the wrong section. Or if you see any mistakes, please correct them.
I did my best.

I've also responded to your message on the PN thread. Am for you.

Good work Obs& and Daisy. Loving the lists. I personally love spreadsheets too. Though don't claim to be as organised as the chocOrange*.
Right - I'm off to Gap as have a 30% discount voucher - would anyone else like this? I can forward this to them if you e-mail me at rswinfen at googlemail dot com. It's valid until this Sunday 16th November. Mail me and I'll happily forward you the link .

Hi everyone, looks like the ones who have had their babies are getting us more organised than those of us still waiting, where do you find the time you are like supermums!!!!

Unfortunately I am still on the pending list, wish I had given birth but no such luck!! Have tried everything over the last few days and nothing is moving this baby so looks like I will be going ahead with being induced on friday

Hi again all.

Back from hospital so thought I'd update if anyone interested! (warning ME post coming up owing to nature of subject...)

It is however another good tale about how you shouldn't worry to much about what midwives tell you as again mine was wrong! (MonkeyM you may wish to take heed of this after what yours told you the other day...).

  1. Baby not breech (yet again confirmed by scan when MW thought it was).
  2. Baby not back to back (I told MW I thought it moved round after I scrubbed the porch the other day, but she thought no - back to back).
  3. Baby predicted to be 8lb 7oz (not 9lbs 14oz as per MW chart - I know these are notoriously inaccurate tho).

So moral is don't listen to MW 'feelings' wait for more hard facts as I now think that MW enjoys scaring shit out of me!

However this time I was more cautious of what she said at least!

Baby's head not engaged but hosp MW confirmed this is normal for 2nd babies and often doesn't happen until labour starts.

Phew, so could still be on for FRIDAY then lol! C'mon baby!!!

Oh and DS doesn't have measles but may have viral infection from the cold. He is at home but in bed poor wee lamb.

Off to look more closely at these lists....

I would like to offer a full, public and unreserved apology to all those whose labours took a while to get established, resulting in the am I aren't I posts. DS was a really simple labour so I had no experience or understanding of how frustrating it is wondering what the your body is doing. I've been hoping/expecting the same again. It doesn't look like its going to happen that way I've been having tightenings/small contractions on and off since Friday night, and actually rang the MW before we went to see the new house as DS was quick and I wasn't sure if baby would arrive on the hard shoulder! Needless to say it didn't! They are probably braxton hicks which I never noticed last time but they are very frustrating. I said to DH when he went to work this morning that he might only get a half day so he's disappointed too now! I'm not even due till 23rd but the whole am I aren't I is starting to get me down, I wasn't this impatient last time, why can't I just accept that baby will hatch when ready, in its own sweet time!

Sorry for me post, must go and stir white sauce now!

Hello fourlittlefeet !!! (waves!!) I'm afraid Monkey junior is rather tardy - having a sweep tomorrow so hope that gets things going. Otherwise it's a dreaded induction next week....hope all is well with you!! !
Sparkle - that's fab news - just goes to show what a load of nonsense can be spouted by (well-meaning) midwives. Could easily be a baby by the end of the week for you then!

Report
chocolategal · 12/11/2008 16:19

yorky i think that is the worst bit, its the wondering. if someone could say tit definately wont happen until such and such then you would just accept it and get on with it!

when i was up at hosp getting monitored on monday they picked up 3 contractions so i started getting excited but MW says that could go on for weeks!!

Now i have accepted that baby is not ready yet and i have to at least be patient until due date which is not until saturday!
im really not keen on induction so am trying to bide my time and let baby do his thing!

sparkle that is good news on all counts!!

monkey when i saw that message from 4littlefeet i thought she knew something we didnt and you were in labour!!

did you get lots of bargains at GAP?

barbareebaa · 12/11/2008 16:23

hello!
am back from mw appt and a little bit fretty (but just read your post Sparkletoes and feel a bit better - not to listen to what mw says! Btw brill news - what a relief )

oh this might end up being a long and rambling post cos I think I'm feeling jittery!

So I didn't have a sweep because I have a hosp appointment tomorrow - the mw said she would do one but I thought there's not much point if they're going to do one tomorrow anyway. She said they will give me a date for induction tomorrow too. I don't want an induction

then she listened to the baby's heartbeat and said 'do you know what you're having?' And I said 'a boy' and she said 'oh good - it's quite slow' Don't say that!!! I asked if it was a worry and she said 'no - it's fine' but she mentioned it and I'm hormonal so now I'm fixated and worried his hb is too slow

Apparently he's about 8lbs and long cephalic - what does the long bit mean? Is that his body? Me and dh are quite long people so that would figure!!

Also he is 2/5's engaged - is that more engaged or less than 3/5's. (he was 2/5's last time)

Pah! Sorry for that

Obs dh does know about you guys and quite often asks after people if there has been a worry... hope that's o.k...? I always tell him about when there's been an arrival (it's exciting!) - looking forward to telling him about VBAB!!

Report
sparkletoes · 12/11/2008 16:24

Am glad you also see it that way MonkeyM DON'T LISTEN TO THEM!!!

So you are having sweep tomorrow... hope that works out for you. I have sweep penciled in for next Wed if my little Sparkler hasn't made an appearance BUT I have said I only want them to go ahead if it looks likely to work. They said they wouldn't do it until head engaged anyway so that is fine by me.

P.S what has happened to Scrabble now?!

Yorky I know how you feel hon, my DS was relatively straight forward but fact he came on due date was complete surprise to me as I had thought first babies ALWAYS late! I am trying to maintain this mantra this time around but understand the whole am I, aren't I thing must be soo frustrating. Hang in there girl and try not to stress (I know easy for me to say as you are moving house soon fgs!!). Hope DH gets more than a half day too... Hugs, we're in this together!

barb 2/5 is more engaged than 3/5, they go by how much of the babys head they can feel.
what a stupid thing to say about the heartbeat!
you will get it checked at the hosp tmw and hopefully they will reassure you then.

Report
barbareebaa · 12/11/2008 16:34

Thanks chocolategirl sorry - meant to say he was 3/5's last time so I wasn't sure if he was unengaging himself!!

Report
MonkeyMargot · 12/11/2008 16:34

Barb - honestly, you'd think MW's would know how hormonal we are in our present condition, and would think before engaging gob! Don't fret - if there was a problem, you would know about it. I noticed at yesterday's appt that my baby's HB was a lot slower than a few weeks back - from 144 down to 133. I guess this is because they are getting bigger?
Sparkle can't say I'm looking forward to being fisted, but it seemed to have done the trick for cricri and choc0.
Scrabble - it's your turn!! Am keen to get as much scrabbling in as poss b4 baby!
Chocgal yes - had good shop at Gap - xmas pressies for my nieces, and some socks and PJ's for me!
