Hello everyone, wow what a huge list of May babies we have now (plus a couple of April ones as well) I am measuring up as 4-5 wks over dates so look like I am 20 weeks pregnant and I am starting to get sick of the are you sure...comments. Congrats to the mum who has twins confirmed, first pregnancy and all, wow.
Must say I was rather relieved to find a single as I am quite terrified of coping with just one more let alone two. Anybody still got absolutely dreadful nausea and tiredness? I was hoping by 15 weeks to have some respite. I am booking the anatomy scan (what you all call the 20 week scan) for the first week in December which I am getting quite nervous about. We chose not to have any early tests and we are in a higher risk category because of my age so am a little nervy about baby being all ok.

I'm fed up still feeling absolutely vile. been like this since thursday and it's starting to really p* me off. i remember being like this last time just before it went completely.. only thing keeping me going. don't know what to do with myself

Thank you all for your kind words - dads ok, still in hospital. its so nice to be missed and know i've got you guys... I'm not even thinjking about the baby at the moment.. but I know I need to get some clothes. I do keep gazing at the picture of baby!

I think my next will be in January - its my birthday on 31st December... would to have my scan then...

Hi....... i've been lurking for quite some time but wanted to wait until i'd had my scan. I'm 13 wks with my 2nd, have a DD who's 19 months. Have felt really awful with ms and been so exhausted but have turned a corner in the last week and feel much better now. I'm starting to panic about how i'll cope with 2 under 2!! I'm not sure how to add myself to the list Due May 14th by the way

sweetbrody echoing get well wishes for your dad. hope you're getting through this ok.

not sure about best friend's guide - i read it quickly once and thought it cute but couldn't stomach it again, felt it was so 'American'. but, maybe i'm sensitive to that because i'm american. might give it a another chance if you all say it's good.

anyone have a gastro-intestinal bug in pregnancy? from yesterday eve, i've been stricken with horrid tummy cramps, keeping nothing down and very liquid poo (sorry, tmi ). cramps have calmed down but still there, still diarhhea (sp?)but not sick. have only sipped cold mint tea and had a few spoonfuls of ready brek.

am very worried about bean. what do i do? i've been able to keep down a vitamin and the cereal but not much else. am sipping things but is that enough?

poor dd1 was up all night with the same - four changes of sheets and pyjamas, bless. hank goodness dh was here to help as i was in too much cramping pain to do much but give a hug. very sad when lo's are ill.

Momino sory you sound so poorly.. ring NHS direct see what they say? i think the main thing is not to get dehydrated.

I know how your feeling cos i've been snuffly all weekend and cant seem to breath... any ideas whats safe to take?

momino hope you feel better soon. To keep your energy levels up and help with preventing the de-hydration drink either the isotonic drinks, dirolyte(sp?) sachets or flat fizzy lemonade. From what i remember baby takes what it needs from you anyway vitamins wise... so you'll feel rough but he/she will be guzzling away. Go for bland starchy foods.. dry toast/crackers etc, rice and fruits like apples and bananas. Not citrus, grapes or pears as they'll make you go more!

SweetBROODY we're all suffering with the snuffles... a few pages back you'll find what most of us are doing... if I remember right the quick run down is:- vicks under nose, there was a saline nose inhaler, steam, eucalyptus on tissues rotten isn't it.

I still feel vile with nausea... nothing is helping. Feel very sorry for DS as he's been stuck in with me for 3 days now. Good job weather has been grotty or i'd be feeling even more guilty!

thanks for your advice. am now having plain white toast with dd1 on the sofa in front of CBeebies and it's raining outside. very comforting.

i'm going to send dh to the corner shop for lemonade as that sounds good (does it, you say?).

FiKelly, glad for your reassurance on baby taking what it needs. i've just been worried about dehydrating because haven't been able to drink much till now. and only small amounts. but it's easy to worry, isn't it?

about snuffles, i'm going to try the saline inhaler, my sister swears by this as well.

Good news on all the scans ladies. I think the next 2 and a bit days are going to go v slowly until mine.

Got work to do now, Will check in tomorrow and catch up properly.

I'm well used to dealing with runny tums... not for our household but with my mum. Since her cancer op in her colon her tummy has been very food sensitive... and goes 'the other way' at the drop of a hat. She's also prone to pick up any bugs around and has ended up in hospital with ulcerated collitis twice in the last 2 years. When it gets this bad she forgets what to do so I end up being the reference book!

oh, bless her, Fi. I hope she's doing well now.

Just been up to the hospital to visit my Gran (she's been in about 3 weeks now) as I arrived they were pulling the curtains round and my sis, brother and dad were being ushered out. Think she had just had a stroke. They were running some initial tests and seen as we had DS2 with us we decided to come away. Just waiting for some news. Feeling very sad, had just perked up after a couple of down days.

Was 12 weeks yesterday and no sign of my 12 week scan let alone 20 week! Getting a bit fed up of waiting now.

agooboo so sorry about you Gran, hope she's OK, and that your Dad is on the mend too sweetbroody. I had some sad news yesterday, my aunt died and though I am upset about it, I am more upset for my Mum than anything else. They were really close but she the one that is everyone else's rock so she won't be able to feel sad for herself as she'll be too busy putting on a brave face for everyone else . One of those times when it is REALLY hard to be this far away!

Momino so sorry about the bug, I had the worst stomach bug of my life when I was pg with DD2. Threw up for 36 hrs straight (as well as a tap the other end too ). Thankfully I was staying with friends, one of whom was a doc and he monitored me pretty closely. You do feel awful though, because it's true the baby gets everything and you get nowt - which is the way you'd want it of course but it's really rough. As long as you are able to manage some fluids - even a few sips you should be OK. My friend had the same bug as me though and it lasted a little longer and she couldn't drink so did have to go into the hosp just to get some IV fluids, so if you can't keep anything at all down I might be tempted to call the doc. Hope you feel better soon [hugs]

Momino- Try and drink, I had this bug it was both ends at the same time thank god our loo is next to the bath!!! Doctor told me that bean would be just fine although I would feel like crap! Hope you feel better tmrw, mine only lasted 24 hrs xxx

agooboo, sorry about your gran. MrsEvs, sorry about your aunt. it's really a down time at the moment.
thanks all for your sympathy and advice. must be a 24 hour thing as feel better than earlier today. luckily am managing drinks now and had some chicken broth made by a caring dh. dd1 still not eating much but did get some toast down her. am amazed and relieved how she seems to have bounced back quickly. in a weird way, it was nice to have an excuse to do nothing but cuddle with her on the sofa dozing and watching telly.

hope you all had a good weekend despite some with bad news and difficult times. Hopefully, we'll all be having good news now (isn't that how it works?).

Hi everyone

MOMINO - I had a stomach bug last wk, I didn't/couldn't eat for 72 hours but drank alot of water and lemonade to keep me hydrated. I wasn't sick but had the runs til my bod had nothing left. I'm fine now, rang my mw for advice,said to just keep trying to eat but to seek doctor if carried on longer than 72hrs.

hi Bantam. going towards the 48 hour mark on the runs but signs of slowing down. will do as you say and call doc if it carries on past another day.

going to sleep now after some bidding on ebay. got a lovely jumper for dd2. now i've got insomnia but am going to try to sleep.
