Really sorry to hear that some of you have had bad news and everyone seems to be poorly.

We've barely left the house all weekend (such rotten weather) and are still stricken with coughs and colds. Had to get doc in to see DD last night, her chest was so bad.(luckily he lives next door so he popped round in his jimjams!) All on the mend now, thank goodness.

Good luck with your scan runningmonkey

LoobyLou36 · 10/11/2008 08:46

Morning Ladies

Just caught up with everyone's news - haven't been on here since Friday.

Sorry for everyone with bad news, congrats to those with good.

Can't believe I'm 15 +1 already. Had to go to my nieces and pick up a moses basket she's kept fpr me as she's emptying her attic for the builders and has no where to put it. It's really cute lemon yellow and covered inwinnie the pooh. Its sat in the dining room at the moment waiting for me to wash the covers. I think its bad luck to have it in the house, dh says don't be daft..

Seems really weird to see it in the house - it now seems real I guess, didn't think I'd get this far - hope I haven't jinxed it.

FiKelly · 10/11/2008 08:58

loobylou don't worry.. we have a full house of baby clothes and equipment from ds! our ds's pram arrived 2 months early last time and we had it in the house with no bad effects

LoobyLou36 · 10/11/2008 09:01

I've got my first meeting with my consultant tommorrow at 9.30 DH is coming with me. I'm owed a couple of hours off work so won't go in till after my appointment (normally at work at 7) so it's a lie-in for me tommorrow - lovely.
Don't really know what to expect. MW mentoined I might have problems lasting full term cos of my history of high blood pressure. I suppose it's good that I'm going to be monitored.

Was thinking of hiring a doppler off ebay as I still haven't heard the heartbeat. I have seen it tho at 11 week scan and nuchal at 13 weeks. I just think it would put my mind at ease.Worried what DH will think who, porbably think I'm nuts. Don't think he realises how paranoid I am that it will all go wrong.

sorry to be such a misery...

LoobyLou36 · 10/11/2008 09:19

thanks FiKelly

Febes · 10/11/2008 10:01

I had another bout of MS this morning. Heaving over the kitchen sink is not a nice way to start the day. I am 15 weeks this week-time to stop .
Apart from that I'm feeling good had a hormotional meltdown on Sat but luckily DH had been through this befire and doesn't let it faze him too much. I went to bed and had a nap with DD and woke up starving so ate the left over from the roast so felt better. Must go and do some work.

LoobyLou36 · 10/11/2008 10:10

Hi Febes I'm also 15 wks and thought MS would be over by now - no such luck drove past chicken factory on way into work this morning and came close to throwing up over the steering wheel

Momino · 10/11/2008 10:18

morning all,
loobylou, try not to worry. it sounds like you'll be under good care with the consultant. about the heartbeat, if you've seen it on two scans, that's excellent and should be reassurance for you - but, do get a doppler if it will put your mind at ease.

febes, hope you're seeing the end of ms. I'm 15+3 and have just started to see the end of the nausea thankfully. food still doesn't sound good to me but maybe because I still have a tummy bug.

dd1 a little better but think she now has the tummy cramps. bless her, she's asleep on the sofa. dd2 still with very runny nappies, i've cancelled her mmr jab until she's better. thank goodness, as i don't think i could have handled walking the two mile trip to/from docs with heavy buggy and still feeling crampy myself.

have had a coupla pieces of toast and watered juice so hopefully will feel better later. speaking of dopplers - wish i had one at the moment as i'm a bit worried about bean through my sickness (even though you kind lot have told me not to worry!).

going to check on poorly dd1 now. take care today everyone and see you later.

Jael · 10/11/2008 10:46

Morning everyone, found the new thread. Was out all weekend, Christmas shopping, was very exhausting! I'm 14w5d and haven't heard baby's heartbeat yet. Saw it beating on 12w scan. Only saw midwife once so far, and that was when she came round house to do first visit. Got an appointment booked for a week on friday though, to have blood tests for downs, will ask her then if she can do a check on heartbeat, it's always nice to hear it isn't it. My consultant appointment came through last week, for 3rd December, I'm dreading it.
As she is going to tell me how I can have my baby, would prefer an elective c-section (DD was emergency CS) but it's all up to her apparently. Sorry for rambling again lol

SweetBROODY · 10/11/2008 11:26

Morning ladies... Dad's still in hospital so it is quite stressful. Stress cantbe so bad for the baby can it? I mean in some situations it is impossible not to stress... how can you not get stressed. I hope the little plum is ok... I'm worried even though the scan went so well..

And so so tired.. I havent put any weight on so plum must be putting it on.. but then I'm not eating much because of the all day sickness!

How are you all doing?

I havent been shopping yet but I am weraing my mums size 18's today lol they fit so baggy and are lush to wear but would like to go shopping soon as they dont look right on me

EmmalinaC · 10/11/2008 11:33

SweetBROODY, I feel for you - and of course, it's impossible not to stress. You must try to make sure you're looking after yourself in every other way and your LO will be fine.

Jael I to had an emcs with DD and have already discussed what will happen this time. She was very supportive and said it was up to me NOT the consultant but also that you don't have to decide immediately so don't feel pressured by your consultant appoinment - lots can change between now and May!

I'm at work, so I suppose I ought to be getting on with it...

SweetBROODY · 10/11/2008 11:45

Emma me to just cant seem to concentrate at all..

SweetBROODY · 10/11/2008 12:22

Are antihistamines safe in pregnancy? I've got really runny eyes.. itchyness.. cant really work like this!

EmmalinaC · 10/11/2008 12:34

As far as I know, no antihistamines are confirmed safe in pregnancy.

I had a terrible rash last time and the doctor gave me a prescription for some but the pharmacist refused to give me them!

Think you might have to keep itching!

FiKelly · 10/11/2008 12:53

sweetbroody not all anti-histamines are ok... i get hayfever and while pregnant with ds i had to switch brands. The old varieties are ok just some of the newer ones to watch out for. Check with your GP and if nes he'll prescribe different ones... they'll be free now we're all pregnant anyway!

jael i'm sure your consultant will let you go for an elective cs esp as you've had an emcs and problems last time. I would love a VBAC but i don't think they'll let me go long enough after my due date to give me a fighting chance of it. I also had probs last time that ended with an emcs.. my mw has warned me the consultant will prob push to do an elec cs...

Momino · 10/11/2008 13:28

sweetbrody sending hugs your way. do try to take care and not worry - your plum will be absolutely fine. most people stress, sometimes it can't be avoided.

hope you can relax soon and all best wishes for your dad. xx

SweetBROODY · 10/11/2008 13:36

Momino thank you so much you ladies are just amazing really give me the strengt to carry on - you have so much on your own plates but try and make a real differance to all of our lifes!

I really appreciate how kind you all are..

pulapula · 10/11/2008 13:37

Jael,

When you see your MW or consultant you should give your preference for delivery, and see what they say. If you feel strongly you want an elective be prepared to give your reasons.

I wanted another elective cs and consultant was fine about it. I think it is often harder to get them to agree to a VBAC especially if the delivery might be difficult (big baby, complications previously etc).

Good luck.

LoobyLou36 · 10/11/2008 13:41

pulapula sorry to be thick - whats a VBAC?

FiKelly · 10/11/2008 13:45

loobylou you're not thick... it's a 'Vaginal Birth After Caesarean'...

LoobyLou36 · 10/11/2008 14:01

thanks FiKelly

new to this - first baby.

Just hoping for a VB

Seeing consultant tommorrow so will discuss it with him I guess?

pulapula · 10/11/2008 14:15

I had to ring the midwife out of hours last night as I was feeling decidedly odd. I have to keep taking deep breaths, felt panicy, and exhausted. She thought my BP might be low so advised a trip to the GP today. I've been and I've now got all sorts of blood tests on Wednesday.

I took the day off work to relax (on GP's orders) and slept soundly between 11am and 2pm. I suspect I really needed it, as I am feeling a lot better now.

I've got my second dating scan tomorrow (the first was done too early) and an appointment with the consultant on Friday, so I'm pretty sure I'm in good hands.

I've felt plenty of movement from baby, which is very reassuring!
