carol7 · 19/11/2008 21:26

Thanks Detsy my children are 16 and 12 so I need to get used to getting up in the night again.

flippineck · 19/11/2008 21:27

I'm still shattered a lot of the time - still waiting for my second trimester bloom and it's not happening! Definitely did with DD, but that was a much easier pregnancy. At least the ms has (mostly) stopped now. I'm still sleeping quite badly, my bladder isn't too much of a problem, but I keep rolling over on to my front in my sleep than waking up really uncomfortable (sore boobs, back, bump getting in way), then it takes ages to get back to sleep. I'm also worrying about stuff in the night too which is rubbish.

I think I've gained about 6lbs so far, and 3 of that seems to have been in the last week. I blame the craving I have a for fruity sweets - fruit pastilles, haribo (esp. Tangfastics!), jelly beans etc.

detsy · 19/11/2008 21:30

Flippineck - hooray i have some 8 May company - been solo for ages!! Mind you i was 2 weeks late last year with dd

Jael · 19/11/2008 21:31

Carol I'm getting up between 8 and 10 times a night! At least once an hour. I've tried limiting the amount I drink before bed, but never works. And then because I'm up all night, I get thirsty, so have to keep water by the bed. Crappy sleep for me, I nod off and then I'm up again. I must have a terrible bladder, and I'm only 21

I'm getting really bad pains in the tops of my legs, it started this afternoon. Anyone know what this could be. It's def not cramp. Could it be related to possible PSD? I'm seeing the doctor on Friday, whose hopefully gonna tell me more. Still got the pubic bone pains too. I am in the wars, and feeling sorry for myself. Going to watch Desperate Housewives in a min, with a big cup of tea and a giant Mars Bar, should make me feel better lol

Jael X

alapala · 19/11/2008 21:33

Detsy - great idea will email the clinic right now.

Jael · 19/11/2008 21:33

Should have said SPD oops

flippineck · 19/11/2008 21:39

Detsy - I really don't expect thos one to arrive on that date either - reckon it'll be much closer to the original date. DD was born on the date I always thought she'd be born on, not the adjusted scan date.

carol7 · 19/11/2008 21:40

'Jael' I also have a drink everytime I get up and a choccy biscuit gets so boring getting up and then having to try and go to sleep again. Had lots of dreams last night I think thats becoz I am not in a deep sleep. My bump has been very tight and slightly achey today just stretching muscles I think good luck with the doc on friday carol x

frazzledoldbag34 · 19/11/2008 21:43

carol - I had an amnio 8 yrs ago with my DD1 - it was fine (and so was she). Not the most pleasant experience but not painful either - just uncomfortable and a bit odd really. I watched the needle go in on the screen as they told me this would make me feel better - it made me feel worse! So this time I'm not going to look at all.

Am booked in for another one this time with DC3 on 1st December - nervous again, but it's over quite quickly - literally just a couple of minutes. My advice is to come straight home afterwards and spend the rest of the day (and possibly the following day if you can manage it) on the sofa with your feet up drinking tea (or your beverage of choice), reading Hello magazine (or similar such un-taxing stuff) and watching mindless tv. I was totally exhausted after it last time (emotionally not physically) - had a few cramps for a couple of hours but nothing worse. The risks are very low. Hope it goes well, fingers crossed for you. Good Luck and let us know how it goes. x

detsy · 19/11/2008 21:46

Ok ladies i think i'm off to bed, am shattered. Good luck to everyone with scans, amnios and decisions to make tomo xx

carol7 · 19/11/2008 21:49

frazzleoldbag34 Thanks for the info I dont think I am going to watch. I have friday off work so will take your advice and relax I do alot of competitions so I am planning to do alot of them relaxing on the sofa.I also have several pregnancy magazines as I have forgotten alot with my 12 year gap. I will let you know how it goes. Good luck to you on the on the 1st December X

frazzledoldbag34 · 19/11/2008 22:03

Thanks Carol. Will be thinking of you. Feet up on the sofa with an armful of baby magazines afterwards sounds perfect. Take care x

EmmalinaC · 19/11/2008 22:11

Carol good luck with amnio tomorrow. I had CVS a few weeks ago and I absolutely did NOT watch the needle!

Alapala it's a difficult decision to make. When I was trying to decide what to do a friend advised 'if you're a worrier, which you are, you should have the test. If, like me, you're not, then don't'. What I mean is, only you can make the decision but don't spend 6 months worrying yourself sick about it. Hope the Fetal Medicine Centre are able to help - they're great!

Momino · 20/11/2008 09:30

morning all.
am i first on today? just caught up with posts. hope Carol is ok at amnio and everyone ok today.

i'm happy because i know i've got the other half of the salt and vin crisps waiting for me when i feel. well, it is only 930am.

also, i think i've missed thanksgiving - MrsEvs, if you're on today, is it thanksgiving? well, if it is thanksgiving she won't be online. not sure if it was next thu. i'll have to call my mom, i'm rubbish at keeping up to date and forgot to ask last time we talked.

in any case, better go ask if the butcher has any extra turkeys for the weekend so we can celebrate then. turkey roast, gravy, mash, cranberry sauce, mmmm. someone mentioned sprouts which, despite my distaste for green things, sound slightly yummy to me. will have to add to the menu.

see you later, shall get some work done.

divedaisy · 20/11/2008 11:37

Jael, SPD pains can occur at the top of your legs, pubic bone and lower back. My pubic bone feels bruised at times, so it may happen to me too. With DS it started when I was about 5/6 months. It was very painful getting in/out of a car, getting out of a bath (I always needed DH to raise me up!!) and especially turning over in bed - I used the edge of the mattress or my DH to haul myself over - I always woke up turning over cos it was so sore . Just take regular painkillers, wear your 'girdle' for support, keep your knees together, and do as little as possible.

I don't know if I have a bump yet... I've a fat belly that I'm letting hang out , but when I suck it in I've only a small round hump. I don't know either if I can feel my uterus or not!! I don't think I can feel a hardness... I do think I am feeling movement there (16+1 - depending on my dates!!) but if it wasn't for the fact I haven't bled I'd be concerned there was nothing there!

I was in bed last night at 9pm. DS came home from Beavers and as soon as he was in bed I got into mine. I feel rotten. I slept until 10:45 when DH cames to bed, then woke at 1:30 coughing (quick sip of cough medicine and back to sleep) until 3:20 when I woke up in a fit of coughing. I had to get up and get a cuppa, back to bed for 4am, and coughed on and off until about 5:30 then I must have dozed off cos I woke at 6:30 coughing again... then alarm went off at 7:30. Poor dh putting up with that... mind you going by his snoring he didn't really hear a thing!

Jael · 20/11/2008 11:57

I have a snoring DP too Daisy lol I haven't been given a girdle or anything, because I haven't had it confirmed yet. Got docs tomorrow morning, I'm hoping he's gonna say that it is that, otherwise I dunno what I'm gonna do. Still in pain today, gone from the legs for now and is completely "down below" again.

I'm 16w1d too. I was worried I wasn't feeling anything, and then it all started Sunday. DP has now felt baby move, so has DD. She was like "I've felt my baby" lol who she's called Fred, so were all calling my belly Fred now lol Went to bed last night, bout half 11, and baby was juping around for about 30 mins. I let DP feel again, cuz I keep thinking I'm imaging it lol

pulapula · 20/11/2008 12:17

I love all the talk of baby movements- i really enjoy being pregnant and that is definitely the best bit (till they start kicking you "down below" )

I thought I felt some flutterings a week or so ago, but they were near my belly button and at that time, i think baby was still down in my pelvis, and with my "backwards facing womb" i would have thought it would be hard to pick up sensations so early. I think with previous pg it was around 21 weeks and 16/17 weeks. Only 13+3 at the mo.

divedaisy · 20/11/2008 12:37

Yeh Jael, I've been sitting at desk in work doing not a lot (I can do that - I'm the boss!!) - actually searching for Christmas inspiration and getting nowhere. Anyway I do feel something to the right side - and it is where the sonographer scanned me, so it must be the same place!! I just wish I could get DH and DS to feel it too so I know I'm not imagining it!!

Well with my dates being anything from 7th to 19th May I could still be only 14 weeks.. but I'm hoping 7th may that's why I say I'm 16+1!!

OP posts:
divedaisy · 20/11/2008 12:41

I still feel rotten, but this morning when going to a book shop I passed by a bakery... and spotted a lemon merangue pie in the window... so on my way back to the van (that I drive!!) I just had to buy it. It DEFINATELY has made me feel a bit better... so I had better go and have another 'slice' (aka a quarter of pie )to make me feel even better. Then 2 more quarters are there as a pick-me-up to get me through to 5pm!! Great plan me thinks!!!! Oh and tasty too!! Anyone care for a slice??

OP posts:
divedaisy · 20/11/2008 12:59

Oh and I've got the christmas decorations up... in the shop! I haven't gone overboard cos there's not too much spare room. Just a nice purple 2ft tree with some blue lights and a few baubles, and lights round the window, and 'icicles' on the glass cabinet shelving.

Only a few weeks now until we go and get our tree - always let DS choose it! We try to get it as close to 1st December as possible... must start getting the decorations out of the cubby hole!! I love christmas decorations... but hate the shopping for pressies!

OP posts:
Jael · 20/11/2008 13:10

DP put our tree up last sunday lol I made him do it. I love having the Christmas tree up and I never think it's up long enough lol It's my birthday and DP birthday, the start of December, so I love having the tree up before then, and as his parents are visiting from down South this weekend,it made Sunday the only option. So DD is currently colouring in the lounge, with the christmas tree lights on, it looks beautiful, he's done such a good job. It's a 7 foot tree so took him ages bless him! I've always wanted a real tree, but thought DD was too young atm and weve got pets

Momino · 20/11/2008 13:22

Jael, I agree with you on christmas trees not being up long enough. but, like you, we have pets and i'm worried about lo's pulling things down.

but, we've put up fairy lights around the lounge and it does look festive! can't wait to get a tree, we'll try in early dec.

about movement, i'd thought i felt a bubble a couple of weeks ago but now don't feel anything. am a bit worried as am 16+6 and also imagining my bump is lessening. why is pregnancy so worrying?

Jael · 20/11/2008 13:59

I don't think my bump is getting any bigger, but for some reason before I go to bed at night it looks like it's doubled in size...or maybe I'm just eating too much dinner lol

Momino · 20/11/2008 14:04

sorry, i'm making this my worry thread.

i'm also worried, i'm not drinking enough. I can't bear to drink water and don't feel that thirsty. I find it difficult to MAke myself drink anything.

i know i'm not overly dehydrated and that baby will get what it needs but this non-movement is bothering me and i'm trying to find any reason for lack of movement. am i just being impatient?

Momino · 20/11/2008 14:07

also, i haven't missed thanksgiving, a good thing. it's next week! i've ordered the Turkey from the butcher and will look forward to Thanksgiving dinner next weekend!
