Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pulapula · 19/11/2008 18:35

Oh and just looked into vinegar- apparently its an iron thing- so looks like we all need to boost our iron intake!

agooboo · 19/11/2008 18:43

spangle they give you the wee sample back so you can re-use the bottle. Keeps dwn NHS costs so my last midwife told me!

SpangleMaker · 19/11/2008 18:43

llareggub my tiredness seems to have gone into reverse (sorry that probably doesn't make sense!). I'm now much less tired in the afternoon/evening, but where I wasn't sleeping well at all and was waking up early, I'm now out like a light and having to drag myself out of bed in the mornings no matter how much sleep I've had. Guess I should enjoy the sleep while I still can.

EmmalinaC I'm of your lazy day!
I've put on about 3lb I think but I expect I'll quickly pile it on over the coming weeks as I get a proper bump and the mince pies are calling me

detsy I'm free the weekend after this one - how about Sat 29th?

SpangleMaker · 19/11/2008 18:45

agooboo thanks, wish the midwife had told me that & I hadn't chucked it in the bin!

Reggiee · 19/11/2008 19:09

Am pmsl at wee pot talk. I keep asking for mine back as it's a short fat one so easier to wee in, unlike the usual tall thin ones where I end up weeing all over my hand .

I put on 2 stones with dd. So far, have still 2lbs to put on to bring me back up to pre morning sickness weight . Am almost 17 weeks but just looks like I have excess flab below belly button.

Spangle I soooo want a mince pie now

Carol good luck tomorrow

agooboo · 19/11/2008 19:24

Emmalina I put on about 2st with both DSs. It does bother me so I try to be careful and not eat too much/more than I actually need. Its just hard when cravings get me and I am giving in at the moment! I think 1st trimester is always worst for eating. By third trimester I normally can't face food esp on evening as I get bad heartburn.

agooboo · 19/11/2008 19:39

Spangle ooh, mince pies. Glad I don't have any!

detsy · 19/11/2008 19:50

Stop it with the mince pie thing - i have 15 mins to get to waitrose...!!

Spangle have put 29th in diary - will be lovely to put a face to a name on here, really looking forward to it

So I see there is a bloody football match on - what happened to Corrie??!

Re tiredness - I still get bouts of it but also get bouts of energy as well so its better. I've always been a snoozer so can sleep at any time really if I get the chance. Think am getting the dreaded virus - banging head and really sore throat - good thing is DD is much better, played and giggled a lot this afternoon - its so lovely to have her back

I had s & V crisps for breakfast, followed by runny poached eggs on toast - thank goodness no one was around to see the combination.

detsy · 19/11/2008 19:53

I know runny eggs are a no no but can't resist - did no harm last time. Have so far resisted the advocaat (with a struggle tho)

detsy · 19/11/2008 19:54

hmmm you are all watching the football I guess....??

runningmonkey · 19/11/2008 20:07

I'm not! Glad your DD is better detsy.

lol at the wee pot chat - My midwife said 'guard this with your life, its the only one you'll get' when she handed it to me at booking in meeting!

SpangleMaker · 19/11/2008 20:17

And there was me being so un-environmentally-friendlily outraged at having mine given back! Sample is now submerged under stuff DH has put in bin and don't think I can face going in there to get it back.

Apparently our Leeds office are currently having (voluntary) medical assessments. Wonder if I could get someone to get me a sample pot out the loos and put it in the internal post??

Reggiee · 19/11/2008 20:19

OMG!!!!
Tesco have just delivered and there on top of my first basket were TWO BOXES OF MINCE PIES

Reggiee · 19/11/2008 20:20
detsy · 19/11/2008 20:25

Aw thanks Reggiee (where do you live??!! close enough fo rme to bob over and steal one...)

EmmalinaC · 19/11/2008 20:42

Detsy so relieved to read your post. Cooked kedgeree for supper (salty carbs - mmmmmm!)which I usually serve with a poached egg on top - sooooo much nicer than hard boiled. Been deliberating all afternoon about the runny poached egg and in the end I thought 'sod it!' and had a runny egg. Am avoiding pretty much everything else I should be though. Except the odd glass of wine. And peanuts. Oh dear...

pulapula · 19/11/2008 20:44

Emmalina, i think peanuts are ok if you dont have any history of allergies in the family. I've never avoided them mmmm fancy some now... must be the salt

alapala · 19/11/2008 20:49

Mince pies!! Send me one here. I might have to make mince meat from scratch in desesperation - but they probabbly don't sell currents in madrid..

So had the detailed scan this evening. All of the 'markers' for Downs were fine, although the nuchal fold went up (but bean is bigger). The doc said that he was reassured but that it didn' mean a thing and that there can be no markers whatesover even when there is a problem. And that given the blood results the only sure thing was an amnio. Really don't know what to do. At all. Wish I was home, wouldnt know where do even do it here. What d'ya all reckon?

carol7 · 19/11/2008 20:53

I find I cant stop eating polos anyone else similar. I have been eating peanuts and minestrone cup a soup not got on to mince pies yet though.
Hows everyone sleeping I am finding I have to get up around three times a night to visit the bathroom kind of ruins the sleep pattern.

carol7 · 19/11/2008 20:55

alapala I am booked in tomoz for an amnio after getting 1/111 blood test result hard decision but I am 42 so decided to go foe amnio bit scared about miscarriage though fingers crossed. Good luck with what ever you decide to do!

detsy · 19/11/2008 20:57

Alapala good news on the normal scan. If you want a definitive yes or no then you have to go for the amnio. Have you any history of abnormality in your families? Do you know what you would do if you got a positive Downs result? Do they do the triple test for AFP in Spain and if so have you thought about getting one of those done as a comparison - supposedly not as accurate as the combined nt bloods but may be worth considering.
How many weeks are you now and what was your nuchal fold? Bit of an off the wall suggestion but what about mailing the fetal medicine centre in UK (Harley St) and seeing if they have any pointers for you? He was the guy who pioneered the test.

pulapula · 19/11/2008 21:00

Alapala, really feel for you. I agree that there might be no markers but there is still a chance of a problem, but this must be very unlikely.

I think it depends on whether you would continue with the pregnancy whatever the outcome, and how stressed you might be through worrying for the next 6 months and whether you'd rather have a yes/no now.

If you think you can take the fact there are no markers, and think positively about this pg, then don't do the amnio. If it will play on your mind, then you have to go for it.

detsy · 19/11/2008 21:01

Good luck tomo Carol.

Sleeping fine except for disturbances from DD. Have been putting her in with us in the early hours as she has been distressed due to being poorly but now need to break that habit and get back to good habits - quite a few restless nights ahead I think!
