Plus I need to clean the kitchen (again).
That's why I wish I didn't work from home .......at least in an office you aren't tempted to load the dishwasher, make the beds and feel guilty there's no food in the fridge for the kids tea.
Am a terrible wife, mother etc etc etc Hate housework, want a housekeeper (in my dream life, that is)
Gah
Must stop mumsnetting!

frazzledoldbag34 · 12/11/2008 15:11

At least my cleaner is coming in the morning.

Ok, am going now.
Bye!

LoobyLou36 · 12/11/2008 15:11

baby hammocks look great! Unfortunately I have a budget to stick to as this is first baby and my niece has given me the moses basket she used for her two babies. It is lovely tho very pretty in lemon yellow with winnie the pooh.

Momino · 12/11/2008 15:40

frazzled, you've got me wanting a wispa bar. also chuckling at your conversation with Self .

LoobyLou, i'll do my best to follow your example and stick with our moses basket. I need to be practical but am terrible with ebay.

am having terrible heartburn which i though wouldn't affect me until later pregnancy but the pizza and chick noodle soup are not agreeing with me at all. am drinking mint tea but it's not helping. any other remedies?

I've taken a bit of a liking for Iron Brew - but is it safe?? It doesn't say on the packaging if it contains iron (which as we all know isn't too safe for us with bumps) - or is it just a name?? Anyway it's lovely!!

Dandy - when on the Next website there is a button to press 'view all' i found this helped greatly cos you could see everything (well most things) on the one page, rather than trawling through page by page!! Oh this reminds me, my Next order should be at home for me waiting!! must get closed up quickly!

DS had his flu vacine today - wee mite didn't make a sound. So I've promised him a huggle on the sofa watching his choice of DVD and eating French Toast!!!

I found Next website pretty useful but I agree the view the start off with is really annoying. I also discovered Topshop online which is pretty good - quite a broad selection, and if you type "maternity" into the search engine you get a lot more items up than just browsing the maternity section for some stupid reason!
I have been totally miserable all day with my wisdom tooth flared up - this usually happens to me about once every 2 years, but it's already happened twice since I've been pregnant...... grrrrr silly progesterone....... . I've bought my DH a book called "From Here To Paternity" as he's freaking out a bit about everything and I'm too tired to give him all the attention he wants so am hoping this might do the trick?!

SpangleMaker · 12/11/2008 18:58

Wow list-mania ! Congrats on the good scans.

Welcome magnummum congrats on the twins!

frazzled I've been into the Wispas too. Not managed two yet (but have had two fingers of Fudge so far today )

Someone said to me at work today my face looks a bit thinner, strange as I haven't lost any weight. I remember a colleague years ago telling me they could tell whether it's a boy/girl from how a woman's face shape changes when pg. Reckoned she had a 100% record Can't remember which way round it was though. Has anyone heard this one before?

DH & I both agree we want to find out the sex at the next scan. We don't see any reason to wait, we're going to find out eventually so thought why not? Those of you who're finding out, are you going to tell people? I think we will, but definitely keeping names a secret.

I will miss Jools on this thread I was on a TTC thread with her before so was really pleased she'd made it over here. Jools, if you're reading, hope you're ok x

FiKelly · 12/11/2008 19:09

congrats to all with scans. I got the date through for my 20wk scan and 1st appointment with the consultant... 23rd dec. Only strange thing is i'll be only 19wks!They must be doing it early due to the xmas season?

frazzle glad i'm not the only one to talk to themselves

I felt heaps better today.. I don't know if it was the sponge cake for breakfast but I didn't have to put the nausea bands on till lunchtime. As i'm typing this with them still on I don't feel nauseous at all Yay! Maybe I should do sponge cake for breakfast tomorrow too!

bekkaboo · 12/11/2008 19:17

hi i lost loads of weight with DS from everywhere, this time im just a fat face! I can feel the extra weight all round neck and everywhere, its horrid! Im thinking girl this time

MsG · 12/11/2008 19:32

Anyone else feeling a bit low at the moment? I feel really tired but find it hard to get a decent night's sleep - what with getting up to use the toilet and then waking early and being unable to get back to sleep. I haven't even got any other children yet so goodness knows how all of you with kids manage.

I'm also a bit fed-up with work... I work from home and it's often unsociable hours. I'm finding it quite lonely at the moment. I'm sure I'll feel better if I can get some decent kip. xx

pulapula · 12/11/2008 19:36

Evening all,

Congrats on all the good scans and welcome to magnummum- another set of twins! I have heard bleeding/spotting is quite common in multiple pregnancies so that might explain your scare.

We will be finding out the sex (if baby obliges) at 20 week scan. First time we didn't (but the policy at the time was for the hospital not to say). Last time we found out but wanted to keep it secret, so we said we hadn't to avoid all the nagging and questions. Don't usually keep names secret though as usually want to test them out, and you will find you get asked so much its easier just to say!

We are thinking Charlie for a boy and Millie for a girl...Bit worried whether Charlie is appropriate for a grown up man, but don't really like Charles mmm tricky.

agooboo · 12/11/2008 19:38

LoubyLoo - I have had very bad headaches for quite a few days now, to the point where I think I will go see doc as paracetaol don't touch it. maybe pregnancy thing - not sure. my mum said it's a common thing in pregnancy but can't remember this with my other two. Can I ask how much you are paying to hire dopler and where from? Hope I'm not being cheeky asking.

EmmalinaC - sounds like you had a rough day! Perfect excuse for a nice bath and box of choccies! In fact, now I have said that think I'll ask DH to get a box on his way home!! where can I get thornton's continental from at this time?!

We are going to find out the sex and like you FiKelly we are going to keep it secret! It's hard though esp when people ask you about names. We found out last time too. It's nice to know so we can plan ahead!

Divedaisy Funny - made me laugh about the iron brew. i don't know about the iron though!! i don't think it does!!

magnummum welcome and congrats x2!!

I am seriously weighing up if I want a magnum ice cream (thats because of magnummum's name) or a box of thorntons. I have half an hour to decide before DH is setting off to come home - suggestions on nice things appreciated!!

Oooh I've just remembered I've got a Vienetta (sp?) in the freezer

agooboo · 12/11/2008 19:58

Spangle what flavour?!

flippineck · 12/11/2008 20:20

Ooh, viennetta, haven't even thought about one of those for years!

agooboo - when I was expecting DD I ate tons of Thorntons toffee. Just the plain stuff, couldn't be doing with chocolate or nuts.

Had an exhausting few days here. I'm fine, but DD has just started having tantrums and it's an absolute nightmare. She's 19 months old now, and kicks off every time you say no or don't, and cannot be distracted with anything. I'm sure her focus will be a valuable thing later in life, but right now I'd love to be able to distract her.

Viennetta! OOH don't think I've had a slice of one of those since I last had tea at my grannies house in 1987.
Do report back on what it's like!

dandylioness - glad I made you chuckle!

Everyone - please don't go out and buy Amby hammocks on my say so........am worried now that due to my ebay-induced enthusiasm I am going to be held resposible for a purchasing frenzy and lots of angry (and possibly skint) DH's and DP's will be hunting me down! And then if your babies won't sleep in them it'll all be my fault [sob]
I'd never even heard of them before yesterday and don't actually know a real person who has used one (although as I said, there are masses of threads on here with positive refernces to them).
I still may secretly purchase one though (ssh...don't tell DH).

However, ladies I do urge you to purchase some Wispa bars and ENJOY.......they are 3 for £1 currently at my local Spar shop! Bargain.

frazzledoldbag34 · 12/11/2008 20:53

spangle - I think it's fat face = girl
(that was always my excuse with DD's 1 & 2 anyway!)

divedaisy · 12/11/2008 21:03

Well agooboo what did you decide on? I'd have gone with Thorntons toffees - esp the mint and licorice ... yummy!

LoubyLoo - how is your headache? It doesn't sound to me to be 'normal' - do you ever suffer from them when not preg? I'd be popping to the health centre even to get my BP checked by a nurse.

Very disappointed - my Next maternity wear order hasn't arrived... was so looking forward to getting it!

Frazzled - a cleaner!! Wow what a luxury! I run my own shop Mon - Sat, so if I don't get my cleaning done on a Sunday it doesn't get done!! Maybe someday I'll be able to get one also! My mum has offered to help me out, but she's nearly 65 and I hate to ask her. Though when baby is born I will be asking for her help. I have no plans to try and be Super Mum again.

With this in mind: All you new mums - plan NOT to expect yourself to be able to do everything. Housework can wait. Baby doens't need every outfit washed after it's been worn - if it's clean it'll do again! Baby doesn't need a bath every morning. For me I'll be writing out a list of what is required in a baby bag - my PND was so bad I couldn't have told you what was needed!!!

frazzle we've managed to get a cosatto gliding crib that ds was extremely happy in from kiddicare.com for £50.00 as they were changing the wood colours a few years ago. We're just going to use it again... although I think we'll treat next LO to a new mattress Just checked online and you can pick one up for below the RRP£100 in quite a few places. Although kiddicare don't have it at the moment.

My friend that moved to NZ has a hammock thing... all 3 of hers have used it & she loved the ease of it... but I don't know if it's the amby one.

divedaisy I think it'll be a great idea for those of us that have been through this before to share our top tips for anything that helps before/during/after our baby(ies) come. We must have a wealth of knowledge between us and some of it has to be worthwhile!
