is the "horny pregnant woman" an old wives tale spread about to make husbands not notice the expending waistline etc?

Although bigger boobs are obviously a bonus (well they would be if they weren't sore)

Have rung MW she wasn't much help, told me to book an appointment with my GP. Can't get an appointment with my GP for 8 days so have to see a different doc 2moro.

FiKelly · 12/11/2008 09:35

As I type this i'm pleased to say that i'm not feeling sick :O yay. The first time since last thursday that i've not felt 200% absolutely vile.

On a downer though I had to send my seraphine jeans back that I got last wednesday as after the first wash the pocket edges started to fray really badly on each and every one. I ordered a replacement pair which arrived yesterday... only to find they were also frayed on one of the pockets and before I'd even had a chance to wear them. No where In their catalogue or in the pictures showing their jeans does it show they have a distressed look... am I being unreasonable to expect a pair of £59.00 jeans to look new before I've even had a chance to wear them!

FiKelly · 12/11/2008 09:38

loobylou the horny pregnant women does happen... I was like that last time apparently it can happen more so if you're having a boy... to do with hormones. My friend in NZ who had a boy 1st time round was the same! that's why part of me thinks this one is a girl...

Momino · 12/11/2008 10:04

FiKelly, if that's true, I'm defn having a girl as well! not horny with pregnancies 1&2 and both girls so it may follow that this one's a girl.

or maybe i'm just not a horny person and this is yet another immaculate conception ?

LoobyLou36 · 12/11/2008 10:06

I feel so sick - headache is worse now I'm at work. Trying to decide whether to take half day hol today and lie down in dark room with a bowl.

LoobyLou36 · 12/11/2008 10:07

I must be having a girl too then. Oh bugger think hubby was secretly hoping for a boy

FiKelly · 12/11/2008 10:11

we'll all just have to wait and see anyone going to find out what you're having at the 20wk scan? We found out with DS and kept it secret from everyone till he arrived. Probably going to this time too so I can make some secret boy/girl purchases before lo's arrival we'll keep it secret again but this time it'll drive everyone nuts as they'll know we know!

LoobyLou36 · 12/11/2008 10:22

We're not gonna find out. My stepdaughter wants us too but we said it would be more of a surprise if we didn't.

Which is weird for me cos I like to be organised.

Although I might change my mind.

frazzledoldbag34 · 12/11/2008 11:04

OOOH magnummum - twins!!! Oh my goodness. That's two sets of twins on the thread now. Hope you're not too shocked - very exciting, congratulations!

jools if you're reading this I hope you are ok . Take care.x

Momino · 12/11/2008 11:15

magnummum, I missed that one . Twins! congratulations!

Jael · 12/11/2008 11:22

It's took me a while to catch up as computer has been playing silly beggars.

So sorry Jools XXX

I think were going to find out again, we did with DD but just for our benefit, we didn't tell anybody else.

I'm exactly 15 weeks today, and I haven't felt any movements yet, every time I thought I have, it was just wind lol

Jael X

FiKelly · 12/11/2008 11:33

magnummum congrats & hiya

alapala · 12/11/2008 12:11

Looby I sympathise, had awful migraines in my last pregancy. The doc put these down to hormones, as I get them with periods too. But there was little to do about it. Paracetamol, dark rooms and hot showers/baths relieved the pain. And I snacked alot to avoid blood sugar drops, and slept as much as possible. Good news is that they lasted about 2.5 months then cleared - enough to blight the 2nd trimester. As soon as I stopped BF I got some serious migraine drugs from the doc and they were amazing, until I got preggers of course, and no interesting drugs for me. Sorry not to be more help.

Much better so far on this preg, so maybe I'll get off more ligtly, or maybe it's not a boy this time. WHo knows.

And Jools, just caught up on your sad news, and am very sorry indeed.

LoobyLou36 · 12/11/2008 12:16

Very excited. Doppler I've hired has just arrived. Can't wait till home time to try it out.

Thought DH would think I was mad for wanting to hire one but he said "if it puts my mind at ease..."

Also it will be nice for stepdaughter to hear her baby half brother or sister - she's very excited about it all.

Just had a text from my friend who's having her 20wk scan on Monday - she's not finding out what sex either.

LoobyLou36 · 12/11/2008 12:17

Meant to say - only ordered doppler lunchtime yesterday -0 that's what I call good service!

Headache still there but have managed to keep down a couple of digestives.

aquababe · 12/11/2008 12:19

really sorry jools

EmmalinaC · 12/11/2008 13:24

Just had a really stressful visit to the hospital. Apparently I have antibodies attacking my thyroid which may affect the baby but they can't check until my 20 week scan... And I have to take aspirin every day from now on because I had pre-eclampsia last time... AND I had to have another blood test because they lost the results from the last one (again!)... And DD did a massive poo and unbelievably the hospital doesn't have any changing facilities... And the final straw - the hospital cashpoint wasn't working so I didn't have the £5 (yes, FIVE!) to get out of the car park.

A kindly stranger found me weeping in the waiting room and gave me a fiver. I was so embarrassed but also very touched!

Phew. Needed to get that off my chest.

On a cheerier note, we already know it's another girl, as a result of CVS test. (And no sign of horny pregnant wife this time either!)

MrsEvs · 12/11/2008 13:36

Wow, Emmalina it's nice to know there are some kind hearted people out there! Hope your day improves.

Nice to have more twins on the thread - welcome Magnum

I will defo find out at the 20 week scan, my DH never wants to, but I am just too impatient I have to know!!

Horny?? What's that

LoobyLou36 · 12/11/2008 13:44

Sorry about your stressful visit to hospital emmalinac

This is probably a silly question but I've just seen a bargain cot on ebay - local to where I live. Do you think too early? Scared of jinxing it but I'm on a tight budget.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one out there who's not been bit by the "horny" bug.

frazzledoldbag34 · 12/11/2008 14:00

HORNY? What's that? Are you mad?

My poor DH .........he thought he might be going to get lucky the other night but then DD2 woke up howling. He wasn't very pleased!

loobylou36 - I guess it is a bit early, but then I have to admit I was looking at 'Amby Baby' baby hammocks on ebay yesterday with a view to purchasing as alternative to moses basket. (had never heard of them until someone on another thread said they are wonderful). DD2 had horrible reflux and was a terrible sleeper - apparently these Amby things are slightly tilted (therefore good for reflux and colic) and also are super-snuggly and bounce (unlike normal moses baskets). Anyway, am sorely tempted......although they do look a bit odd. ( to be honest I'd quite fancy a wee nap in one right now - am exhausted!) - where is my 2nd trimester energy rush???? Where, where ....... has anyone seen it????

(however if I do buy one I'll have to hide it from DH - he says since we're now on no 3 we have no need to buy ANYTHING! Unsurprisingly I disagree!)

Momino · 12/11/2008 14:24

just looked up amby baby on ebay and am very, very interested, though we have a moses' basket. The hammocks look great! I'd like one for myself...

frazzledoldbag34 · 12/11/2008 14:41

momino - let's buy ourselves Amby hammocks and go for a lovely snooze in them!
Am really thinking I might purchase one, but may start a thread to find out what other peoples experiences are first......had honestly never heard of them before yesterday.

frazzledoldbag34 · 12/11/2008 15:05

OK, not going to bother starting a new thread about Amby. Just did a search and there are already masses of threads mentioning them. They seem to get (from my quick scanning perusal) a huge thumbs up. Someone even said that according to her midwife there has never been a SIDS reported on a baby sleeping in one, which sounds pretty good to me.
I can feel my credit card twitching ..........

frazzledoldbag34 · 12/11/2008 15:06

By the way, just ate 2 Wispa bars whilst reading about these baby hammocks and now feel sick. Ugh.

frazzledoldbag34 · 12/11/2008 15:08

oh goodee, just realised I'm talking to myself again!
Should really be in the supermarket or doing some work before school pick up but am talking to myself instead!!!
Crazy pregnant woman.
