rutho - when you going to hospital?

SpringySunshine · 07/11/2008 16:12

TheDoctorsWife I've only been following you lot - I think this is the second thread I've followed of yours, but it's been way more interesting than my own, what with all the drama of people on this thread actually having their babies! Ooh, it's all so exciting! & I bet you'll be having yours really soon - it's not like you've had absolutely no signs of anything. You're obviously just very comfortable to live inside

ceebee74 · 07/11/2008 16:15

Ooh exciting exciting!!

Shall we take bets on who is going to be first?? HM2J or Saurus??

As Yorky said - anyone want to meet up with me ???

Drswife you stick to your guns about not being induced!!! I had really high bp towards the end of my last pg and they never once mentioned induction - just kept sending farking MW's round to see me every other day!! I wish they had induced me tbh (but I didn't want a homebirth).

ChocOrange05 · 07/11/2008 16:17

Exciting news from Saurus and HM2J! Good luck to both of you!!

DrsWife Don't worry, I'm still here, still pregnant and still no signs to keep you company!! Race you to see who can have the most overdue baby!!

Hello SpringyS the waiting does not get any easier at this stage - its just more frustrating and life consuming!!

Tinkerisdead · 07/11/2008 16:19

I have an eerie feeling though as DH has always said this baby is coming on weekend of 8th/9th and ive always though i'll go over to the 22nd. now im thinking wouldnt it be weird if sweep worked in the morning and i had it this weekend... im not that lucky.

and i reckon HM2J will be first, sorry rutho i think its cos you've been in labour for about ten weeks love, i think you'll last bit longer x

Pinkyminkee · 07/11/2008 16:22

Yay Rutho and HM2J

You should have said about the ball, I could have sent you mine, all un-needed and deflated..

Bit late now!

Hindwaters you think, lacks.. I wasn't sure when she said there was lots..but no mention of a gush.

Sorry bout the thrush.Ithought I had it last week but it is just bruised nips. Hope it clears up soon.. cheapskate GP.

Get yourself jogging round Ikea, Yorky, it's clearly the way to go.

Tinkerisdead · 07/11/2008 16:25

chocorange are you overdue now? im 39 weeks today but its all this leaking and high BP where im being pressured with induction. i could have about three weeks to go yet. sob! and im on the edge of my seat as its about this time that the inlaws invade me on a friday....

ChocOrange05 · 07/11/2008 16:40

DW I am 6 days overdue today and like you I really really want my HB!! I have until the 15th to have the HB and then I will probably agree to be induced on the 17th (16 days late).

I am having another sweep tomorrow - I had one on Wednesday but she couldn't do it properly as the cervix was too far back?? She did say the cervix was soft and she could feel the baby's head - fingers crossed tomorrow's sweep starts something off (or the fireworks we are going to in the evening!). I know I will jinx it for myself telling you all this but sod it - a family friend who is a MW who does lots of HB's said lots of HB babies arrive at the weekend.

Tinkerisdead · 07/11/2008 16:42

would you def agree to induction or choose to have continual monitoring, thats my other dread, going over and induction again.

ChocOrange05 · 07/11/2008 16:47

I don't know - I just wonder how fed up I am going to be by the 17th. I think I will see how it goes and depending on my bishops score (which I understand says how likely induction will be successful) play it by ear. I don't want to be induced if possible but I also don't know how strong willed I will be to hold on if they give me the option.

Whats your plan DW??

LackaDAISYcal · 07/11/2008 17:01

ooh, it's all gone quiet on the Rutho and HM2J front.........

Hi all,

Contractions getting a bit more "fun" and we're going to start timing them in a bit. In the meantime we are having a pizza and I'm going to ask DH if he wants to kick my arse at actual Scrabble.

I'm going to hosp at 8 by arrangement at 8 but JUST for the swab - I am NOT labouring there. I want to go in to give birth and nothing else. I am shit-scared of hospitals and my worst nightmare is being given a spinal so that I am flat on my back and immobile while doctors do things to me - I had loads of ops after a car accident when I was 8 and had to lie flat for 6 weeks so it kind of brings back bad memories, which I am currently trying to blank out.

Mentally I am trying to get to a beach in Costa Rica in 2006, watching the hermit crabs and the waves with DH without a care in the world.

Breathe. DH is under strict instructions to make like Jackie Chan if they try and strap me to a gurney and use mind-altering drugs. Unless there are flashy lights and a named DJ.

MerryMarigold · 07/11/2008 17:22

ChocO. You have always reminded me of a friend of mine I met at NCT. And now I know you are. She had a homebirth on her first, and was due to go into hospital to be induced 15 days after her edd. She had refloxology and acupuncture and a sweep to get things going, but nothing did it. Anyway, on the day she was due to go into hosp, she went into labour about 1 hr before she was due to go in! It was all very quick and wonderful, she had a lovely birth at home and went on to have her second baby at home - who weighted 10lbs and she didn't have ONE stitch!

Does anyone know what is going on with pinkali and her baby being in special care? What is up?

MerryMarigold · 07/11/2008 17:25

Rutho, that's really exciting! No, don't stay in hospital. I did (I quite like hopsitals, I am a weirdo). But it was worst mistake as they sent dh home.

LackaDAISYcal · 07/11/2008 17:26

rutho, bear in mind that once they have given you a VE, or even the swab, your risk of infection increases regardless of anything else entering your foof!!

They might try and use this to get you to stay.

Fingers crossed that things have kicked off big time by 8 and you are well on your way by that time

ooooh, this is taking me back

MerryMarigold · 07/11/2008 17:27

Rutho's having a girl!! (I reckon)

ruthosaurus · 07/11/2008 17:32

Don't get me wrong, I love hospitals, they are full of wonderful people doing the best and hardest jobs in the world for crap pay but they also smell funny and make me wig out a bit.

I am hoping to give birth in the early morning so they don't send DH home.

ruthosaurus · 07/11/2008 17:33

I think so too, MM. Plus, we already have 1 Finlay! How are your babies and your lovely DS, btw?

MerryMarigold · 07/11/2008 17:37

I learned a good lesson when I was in the night before my cs. There was a lady on the ward who made SO MUCH NOISE that they let her dh back when she was 1CM dilated! They wouldn't let me call dh till I was 4.5cm...

Ds is great, thanks. He is in love with his babies! He loves cuddling them and playing, although is not too good at being 'GENTLE'. Babies are good, though ds2 not feeding a lot today and just sleeping, have been waking him. He refuses right breast!

Anyone heard from margot, how is she?

MonkeyMargot · 07/11/2008 18:00

Hi MerryM - I'm still here! just caught up on everything. I'm 2 days overdue now but hoping this baby will arrive sometime over the weekend - I live in hope! How are you getting on? Can't wait to see some photos!!
Good luck to HM2J and Rutho - maybe 2 babies by tomorrow?

Betti · 07/11/2008 18:07

Hello ladies. Typing this from blackberry so excuse mistakes. Haven't managed to catch up.

Nathan Colin was born at home at 10.10 this morning. 2hr labour. Didn't manage to get to hospital. Weighed 8lb 4oz .managed on tens as mw had run out of gas abs air.

Will update properly when can get on pc. Best wishes to everyone. X

ceebee74 · 07/11/2008 18:13

Betti CONGRATULATIONS - looks like we might be having 'triplets' today then And wow to you for managing on Tens alone - look forward to the photos

ChocOrange05 · 07/11/2008 18:14

MerryM I hope I am like your friend then, although not with the 10lb-er but without the stitches!!

Saurus I am with you on the hospital front - I hate them, probably because I have never stayed in hospital before and only ever associated them with illness and death - never been to see a baby in one. And they do smell funny!

Actually thats one of the benefits of a HB - the MW said to me at any point before or during my HB I could decide to go to hospital but if I was having a hospital birth I couldn't choose then to go home. I think everyone should opt for a HB so they get to be at home for as long as possible / as long as they feel comfortable with the benefit of a MW and then if you want to transfer in you can. Best of both worlds!!

LackaDAISYcal · 07/11/2008 18:14

Congratulations Betti and welcome to the world Nathan Colin (I love Colin but DH wouldn't entertain it!)

Sounds v dramatic; can't wait to hear the full story

hope you are having a lovely babymoon
