Oblomov · 07/11/2008 14:37

why induce rutho?
induction can be great. it can also be fucking excrutiatingly painful.

Pinkyminkee · 07/11/2008 14:39

LOrdy, if waters have well and truly gone, that's full on enough. Good luck RUtho

off to get DS from school.

ruthosaurus · 07/11/2008 14:40

Nah, I'm fine so far. My mate in the US who has been a mama for a whole week has called and my unpunctual Sheffield mate is here now and chatting to her about the horrors of childbirth. I am playing Fisher Price Garage with Unpunctual's four year old son...

Tinkerisdead · 07/11/2008 14:41

yes rutho why are they talking of induction so early? the NICE guidelines used to state 96 hours then i think they changed to 24-48 hours so you still have time to wait for natural labour to ramp up. they will hark on about induction if you show to be GBS+ as the risks are increased once waters have gone but i think its hanaflower who tested + but the liklihood of it colonising with baby is minimal. get on that ball!! Oh and i was told after my leak, no penetration of any kind and no baths as the risk of infection is increased..

Pinkyminkee · 07/11/2008 14:42

ah sounds good, Rutho. Have a good afternoon, and hope things prgress for you.

LackaDAISYcal · 07/11/2008 14:50

oooh......is there excitement afoot?

fingers crossed this is the start of things for your rutho. No mistaking hind and forewaters ime so sounds like a hindwater leak, but if mucuosy then that sounds like a show as well.

how you doing?

and bugger that I have to go and do the school run in a minute. I promised DS I would!

Finbo has thrush in his mouth; which might explain the feeding issues. Doc has prescribed drops for him and cream for me but wouldn't entertain fluconazole capsules for me so DH is having to go and buy them at the princely sum of £6 each

Oblomov · 07/11/2008 15:12

DrsWife, Rutho, who has the sex drive of a ...... tart, -annanicolesmith--, with a dh, who is a bit partial, is surely not thinking of any of that kind of penetration, at a time like this, SURELY

Tinkerisdead · 07/11/2008 15:15

ha ha ha obs thats made me laugh... i think rutho has jinxed me. My midwife just rang me, saying she has checked with superviser of midwives and that with my blood pressure as it is they would normally be keen to induce. i said noooooo way, so she's offered me another sweep tomorrow. Honestly, its the worst bit of having an independant midwife, we talk about her kids, we share cups of tea, we swap books and then she says right take your knickers off... it makes me want to curl up and die!!!!

LadyBuzz · 07/11/2008 15:20

Ooh good luck Rutho Drswife hope it gets moving soon for you!
Hi to everyone else, Sorry I'm a bit vague I thought it was hard to keep up with people before I lost ALL of my brain cells to childbirth .

Heartmum2Jamie · 07/11/2008 15:28

Me Post*

I am 9 days over and induction has been booked for next Wednesday.....

BUT...

Ack!!! I think I am having a baby!!!

I just got back from the midwife drop in clinic at the hospital where I was given a vigorous sweep.

Got home, really needed to wee, felt a pop and wee seemed to be gush out, so think my waters have gone.

Just a shame it isn't Sandra (the midwife I just saw) on call, she is fab and I really like her. Suppose I need to wait for contractions to get closer together now, but definately leaking with each contraction.

ruthosaurus · 07/11/2008 15:29

DW, I don't care what she told you, she's not a midwife and you should call the police!

I am fine, just a bit bored and twingy. I After the last week I am a bit jaded about the whole contraction thing so I am going to go and do some housework in a while. My mate and her son have now left and I am just waiting for DH to get home in the next hour or so.

Lacks, sorry to hear about Fin's thrush, poor little tiger.

LadyBuzz, if I am going to lose any more brain cells I should probably say it was lovely knowing you all and please forward all correspondence through my DH, who will also be in charge of feeding me and taking me out for walks.

Okay, this contraction hurt a bit more. Huh. Well I never. Still, clothes to fold, dum de dum...

PS Obs, you reckon I ought to proposition DH as he comes through the door, just for a laugh? I hear that shagging after your waters have broken is a nono, but the look on his face would be priceless.

Tinkerisdead · 07/11/2008 15:36

rutho did you save your mopped up leak? i had mine in a tissue and after being asked are you sure you havent wet yourself a thousand times, i let the tissue dry..

DH got home and i shoved it in his face and said smell this, is it wee? ... now i bet you cant beat that look on a mans face!!!!

ruthosaurus · 07/11/2008 15:36

OOH Heartmum me too! EEEEEEEEK [dances around waving hands in the air]

Who is Vbab's text buddy? I haven't heard from her since this morning and need to raincheck meeting up tomorrow. I don't want her going to Meadowhall if she doesn't get the message, can someone text her if she's not on by later tonight please?

I knew arranging to meet up would kickstart it for someone...

DW I forgot to get a ball to bounce on... I was in the shop and was distracted by shiny things...

Tinkerisdead · 07/11/2008 15:40

x posts..heartmum and rutho get going we havent had any babies for a few days.. i'll try a sweep tomorrow and still be sat here like a whale at xmas... i was off MNet when text buddies were done... anyone wanna be mine...you should be free around xmas to check for texts though.

Heartmum2Jamie · 07/11/2008 15:46

Ohhhhhh!!! Good luck Rutho Babies will be coming thick and fast now (I hope!)

ruthosaurus · 07/11/2008 15:49

I'm trying to, hon - contractions are getting a little worse but I am still being bad and refusing to time them...

I take it all back about Ikea, it works! Or maybe it was DH getting the bed moved back into the bedroom that I was waiting for.

He is home now, exciting day for him as it was also his annual performance review which he passed with flying colours. Proud of my lovely man. Now if only I can get him to hoover the house in the next few hours...

SpringySunshine · 07/11/2008 15:53

I'm going to be so rude here & just gatecrash your thread for a minute - I've been cyber-stalking you all like a nutcase for a while. I'm due in April & have little better to do with my life than watch you lot all pop babies out & get excited about my own

I'm particularly interested in your experience, rutho, as I'm having mine at Jessop too - I swear to God, they'd better be nothing but lovely to you!

Good luck to you all yet to have your babies & congratulations to those of you who have already had them - you all seem to be coping really well despite some big issues & it gives me hope for what is still 5 months away for me - doesn't that make you feel better?

All the best, ladies! XxX

ruthosaurus · 07/11/2008 15:56

Hi Springy, congrats on your pregnancy! How far along are you? I would work it out but am being distracted by labour... Jessops has been ace so far, I had to stay in for a night at 33 weeks and the staff are lovely and the facilities are great. I would also recommend the antenatal classes there, the mw was v friendly! Good luck.

vbab78 · 07/11/2008 15:57

rutho - I've sent you an email with my mobile number. Seems like things have definitely moved along for you YIPPEE!!! GO WATERS, GET BUSY, GO WATERS! So prob wont see you tomorrow.

I dont think I live far from you (bramley roundabout ROTHERHAM, junction 1 M18) so if you need anything phone/text me and I will try my best to help or get to you.

LackaDAISYcal · 07/11/2008 15:57

back from school run (well very very slow walk) to yet more excitemement. Go heartmum and rutho

hi springysunshine; lurk away!!

SpringySunshine · 07/11/2008 16:01

I'm 18 weeks tomorrow. I'm already impatient to meet it & keep whining at DP to make it hurry up & get big so I can cuddle it, so I have nothing but respect for you lot & your persistent good nature about the whole thing!

I'm glad to hear that you've had a good experience so far - I've only been there once for my dating scan & bloods, but was quite impressed. I'm originally from Birmingham & the general health care down there is nowhere near as good, although I don't know why it wouldn't be.

I hope you have a quick & relatively painless labour - I'd say you've suffered enough with it over the last week for that to be the only fair situation!

(I also hope that none of you think I'm super-creepy You all seem like such lovely women )

chocolategal · 07/11/2008 16:03

goodluck ladies
it is happening AT LAST for you both

xx

chocolategal · 07/11/2008 16:04

Tinkerisdead · 07/11/2008 16:07
