Sorry that time should have read 2.50am!!!!

Yorky · 07/11/2008 08:37

Well I didn't hear DS till FIVE to 6 this morning! The cat had woken me earlier but I don't mind throwing them out of the window as much as I do DS!

I would quite like the baby to come soon as it is sending horrible shooting pains down my hips, jabbing its elbow in my nerve or something. Very uncomfy, especially when I'm carrying DS and my leg goes from under me! MW says its probably because of baby moving down.

Ceebee I was going to stay at my parents and gategrash the 2nd week in Dec meet up but if we're moving that week I'm not sure I'll be allowed out - although DH keeps suggesting that I stay at my parents and he moves without us 3 to help him!

Oblomov · 07/11/2008 08:56

Love to Pinkali and Esme.

sparkletoes · 07/11/2008 09:14

Ceebs can I quickly ask while my dodgy internet connection is still working... please can you give the link to the alarm clock again? I couldn't find it and have been looking for one as a gift from baby to DS!! And as it has had good reviews on here I am definately interested!!

rutho - Costa coffee at 10 sounds great . See you then or maybe not as it sounds like your baby is stepping up a gear unlike mine .

ceebee74 · 07/11/2008 10:20

Sparks here it is - this shows you the different options - we went for the Thomas one but DS is Thomas mad!!

sparkletoes · 07/11/2008 10:26

Oh Thank You Ceebs you are a star! Will have a look..

My baby still hasn't moved even tried a cup of coffee (not decaff) and still nothing...

I did feel it turn round last night in bed and was cautiously optimistic that it was getting itself into OA position at last but NADA since... not even a flutter.

Morning all... i was thinking we'd have some more babies..nope
get well soon pinkali and esme
I had midwife again yesterday, see lovely as it is to have an independant midwife, it means that she's here all the time checking me!!! blood pressure still no better at 144/95...apparently i'll need blood taking at the start of my labour, if it stays high i have to go to hospital and the antidote to high blood pressure....epidural. Its such a far cry for my home waterbirth that i cant even think about it!

She's coming back on saturday as she wants to check it again!!

Last night i had some real crampy period pains in my bump, thought, "oh im gonna come on!" then as i had my hand on it realised bump was tightening. yahooooooo i thought and then it stopped. argghhhh. DH made me last night when he started panicking, what if the baby doesnt know him? what if cries at him. bless. i was trying to reassure him that the baby knows his voice and that its important that his family dont arrive and play pass the parcel with it on day one! Now its friday and my MIL always turns up uninvited or announced with Dh's screechy niece..bets on whether im intruded on yet again...

MonkeyMargot · 07/11/2008 11:49

Morning all!
Well, I reckon at this rate our thread should have been split across two groups, one for October and another for December as I can't see any November babies yet!
Just been for long brisk walk with dog and DH - both very well behaved I might add - and am going to do some more cooking now as am sick of cleaning. It's just not me.
I did bump into one of my "new best friends" from NCT - she is now 5 days overdue and is still really cheerful. She said she's now made loads of weekend plans - that way you're not sitting around like a lemon, and then baby is bound to arrive to disrupt everything.
sparkle glad panic over with movement - phew!
vbabs and rutho - hope you have a lovely meet-up tomorrow! I really did enjoy our London Ladies wot do Tea meet-up.
BTW - did anyone watch that real life hospital programme on last night where they showed someone giving birth? OMG - the husband was hilariously useless - all he could say when the head was crowning was "it doesn't look like a baby".
I pointed out to DH that if comes out with something similarly useless, he will get punched in the nuts. Oh it was funny.
Then in bed later was watching the best bits of Only Fools and Horses - and it showed that scene where Raquel gives birth to baby Damien - that was pretty harrowing viewing too!

ruthosaurus · 07/11/2008 13:01

Hi all, will catch up properly later but have a GROSS QUESTION - what is "hindwater"? I know DW you had something with this a bit back but I have just had a leak of something that is not wee or bathwater - it is a little straw-coloured and had mucus in it (which even my bathwater doesn't usually) and I couldn't stop it when I clenched. I have been getting teeny tiny leaks for a couple of days but had just concluded my pelvic floor muscles had given up under the strain of all the contractions.

I'm not going to start screaming for joy or throwing my hat in the air just yet as it appears to have stopped again but do I remember just that happening to a few people? Is it normal, should I worry, you know the drill... [rueful grin]

Right, off to catch up, any info/advice appreciated.

Vbab, matey, please can you email me your phone number ruthnorth at hotmail dot co dot uk, just in case? Actually, hang fire on that for 2 hours or it will totally jinx it! I would hate to leave you sat in Costa, though... Cross your extremities for me.

ruthosaurus · 07/11/2008 13:44

Hi, me again... Sorry for insane amount of verbiage today. Some messages.

Ceebs, love the image of your DS sitting patiently clock-watching ? don?t feel bad, it is a useful skill that he will appreciate in later life!

M2B, good luck with your sweep, hon ? I really hope that starts things off for you. You must be getting a bit grr by now and deserve a break! 10 days, really? Ooh, I had banked on 14! [runs off and scoffs 4 advent calendar chocs on the basis of this?]

Yorky, FGS take your DH up on this, get it in writing and do not allow him to wriggle out of it! He sounds like a godsend! Mine is great but still asking if I wouldn?t mind getting these sacks of coal out of the mine for him, making a wedding cake today, shoeing a couple of horses if I get a mo?, you know. But he did make my chair, so I do love him for that (he sat in it and said he was getting one for himself and doesn?t care that the house is now officially FULL. Then he nodded off, love him!).

Sparkle, lovely to talk to you at horror o?clock this morning, stop DOING that to me in Scrabble! How is your brain still even working, girl, especially on that little sleep? No, just kidding, am in awe of the size of your brain and the tininess of mine?Glad to hear your bump has woken up, it?s so scary when they just stop, isn?t it?

DW one thing is about having your baby in hospital is that they won?t let your inlaws in if you don?t want them there? I know you really really want your home waterbirth (I am now regretting not going for home birth as my near-birth experience on Saturday was so nice) but at least in hosp your MIL won?t be hovering over you, fangs dripping.

Monkey I am not bloody surprised you are sick of cleaning, I saw your list on Facebook the other day, you monkey nut. How are you doing in general, apart from the cleaning?

Big hugs to Pinkali and Esme, anyone got any news?

Sorry to anyone I forgot.

I have had loads more wet and I think my waters might have broken and I am now having harsh period pains (sort of Jane Austen ones, fner fner, oh never mind, shut UP, Saurus) but am too superstitious to try and time them or even put my hand on my bump to see how hard it is or isn?t. I?m so glad DH will be home from work in four or five hours. I have called the midwife and she says to call the hospital to get the GBS sweep done. Fuck.

On the other hand I am also having a lovely friend over for tea and biccies in a bit, hope I don?t moo at her?

Pinkyminkee · 07/11/2008 13:47

Rutho

Whe the baby's head engages, the amniotic fluid gets stuck in two parts:

HIndwaters is the water that is stuck around your baby's body. The forewaters is the bit stuck under the head. If the forewaters go, it's as I described with DS- a big gush/flood. Hindwaters tend to be a trickle.
Either way you should probablyget it checked out with the MW. They will be able to do a simple check to see if it is amniotic fluid. It can be a bit difficult to tell hindwater from runny discharge (sorry for yuckky description).
HTH in some way.

Pinkyminkee · 07/11/2008 13:53

oh there you go, x-posts. Sounds like your waters have gone, lovely!

Hope all is well.xx

ruthosaurus · 07/11/2008 13:53

They have definitely broken, Pinky, there is no doubt about it! Eek!

Pinkyminkee · 07/11/2008 14:03

Is your friend coming over nowish? If you are experiencing a gush things may get a bit ouchy fairly quickly. Have your rung DH? You could do with ringing the hospital, too. Good luck sweetheart, sounds like things could finally be occuring!

Oblomov · 07/11/2008 14:07

Rutho waters broken ?
Finally. hoorah. some progress at last.
poor ole ruthy. it has been a slow old trk, hsn't it ?
best wishes. big hugs.

anyone else with anythimg exciting going on/down ?

ruthosaurus · 07/11/2008 14:08

My mate is notoriously unpunctual - when we were in our going out heyday she would come round to get ready and we would have to go to a club cos by the time we were out of the door the pubs would have shut!

I have called the mw, who said to go to hosp for the GBS swab when DH comes home but no rush as it is 1st baby - she said even if I don't deliver soon they will induce in 2 hours anyway! So I have called DH who said he has just gone instantly grey and wet himself. I reassured him it won't hurt much and the pain will all be a distant memory when he's holding that little baby in his arms . He seemed reassured but still a little nervous.

Having contractions now but nothing too bad [starches upper lip]. Am having a terrible urge to get on with the ironing... or clean the bathroom, or somthing. Well, maybe not the bathroom. Urgh.

Pinkyminkee · 07/11/2008 14:13

hmm possibly not impromptu birthing partner candidate, then.

I would get the kettle on, sounds like DH is going to need soem hot sweet tea!

Pinkyminkee · 07/11/2008 14:15

Just take it easy and keep near your ball. You may need to lean over to take the pressure off your nethers if you waters have well and truly gone [been there myself emoticon].

ruthosaurus · 07/11/2008 14:23

Ta Obs! I am so excited I could puke. Just wish everyone else' would go as well, kind of synchronised...

Tinkerisdead · 07/11/2008 14:27

rutho sorry i was watching a bump to breastfeeding video on the pc...bloody good information i found..

When i had a leak, it was straw coloured liquid and smelt sweet like grass/hay kind of smell. I told my midwife and then she started on about how you have to be induced for fear of infection blah blah. ive chosen not to be, i monitor my temp at home three times daily, check for more fluid and check pulse. any sign of infection then i'll be induced. Dont know what your feelings on GBS swabs are but remember you have the right to refuse, you do not have to be induced, think its 80% of women go into labour after rupture of membranes within 48 hours. you can choose to be monitored rather than having an induction. There is lots on GBS on this site but if they swab and its positive then you have the antibiotics argument.

i personally didnt want the swab, didnt want the antibiotics. ive had no further leak but sounds like you're well on the way now so you are much more empowered to decline induction if thats what you choose.

sorry if im preaching just dont want you to be railroaded, the hospital will work on guidelines...but the final choices are yours.

Pinkyminkee · 07/11/2008 14:32

Why would they need to induce you? Sounds a bit silly, especially as you seem good to go. Never been induced but I imagine it's one of those paths to intervention best avoided.

p.s. I would avoid the iron- in fact any blunt instrument, for poor mr saurus' sake!

MonkeyMargot · 07/11/2008 14:35

Ooh good luck rutho!! Sounds like progress for you! Lets hope this is the start of a whole host of labours...mine included!
Bear in minde Doc'sWife's advice - since being induced can be painful and I believe can lead to the need for an episiotomy etc. But you're probably so keen to get your baby out by now you'll probably go ahead anyhow!
