Morning,

Good luck for scans and appointments today. I'm dreading mine on Thursday. The gestational diabetes is scaring me so I'm keeping everything crossed that I don't have it.

DS woke up at half 5 this morning, he did go back to sleep and so did I but I woke up feeling worse than I did at half 5.

Hope everyone is ok.

Heebeejeebee · 04/11/2008 09:51

Morning all! Thank you so much for the scan wishes - its at 3.15pm so I will post later to update you all. I slept better last night and had to have some crackers before I left the house as I was feeling so sick, so I feel a bit calmer than I did yesterday.

Diege - DH and I had a similar conversation last night about the scan, though he is trying to avoid thinking about it completely

GYo - Hope your scan goes well too.. Let us know how you get on!

Ses - hope your appointment goes well and have fun with the double discount!

Tink - I like the first ones!

I have to confess I scanned the names conversation. I have a Scottish/Irish name that is pronounced differently to how its spelt (though not quite as differently as Aoife) and Gruff is exactly right - because it sounds odd people tend to make an effort to get it right, whereas my friend with a more common or garden name had more probelms! Pre-marriage I had an Irish surname, and now I have a French one, but its nice having a different name..

NJ I really like Ned. The thing is, that if you name him Edward and you and DH call him Ned, you'll probably find that when he gets to school, he might call himself something different at school anyway as he'll be Edward on all the forms?

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 04/11/2008 11:00

My doppler just arrived!! only 26.5hrs after i placed my order!!!!! how amazing is that service???? Highly recommended by me aswell as Tink!!

AND- managed to find beany's heartbeat so i'm chuffed to bits!!!!!!

Diege · 04/11/2008 11:13

Hello! Sorry, haven't managed to catch up, but wanted to clock in. Feeling really poorly today, been sick four times already, but have scheduled another appointment for tomorrow for acupuncture so fingers crossed.
Love to all - and good luck for scans xxx

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 04/11/2008 11:15

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 04/11/2008 11:17

Oh diege!! I feel for you on the sickness- but I'm living proof that sickness is only a good thing when pregnant!!!!

4 times is a lot... i've now been told if i'm sick more than 6 times in a day to go straight in for re-hydration.... haven't been sick since Saturday now though!!!!

Wait till you can say that Diege!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/11/2008 11:28

Morning all,

Glask - glad to hear you are out of hospital, hope you manage to stay out.

Deige - well I suppose sickness is a good thing

Nat - how are the contractions now?

Good luck with everyones scans

Loving the name discussion, Edward is probably my fav boys name as well and I do like Charlie.

sorkycake · 04/11/2008 11:36

Get him to agree to Edward, then nickname him Ned! I personally think Teddy is soooo gorgeous for boy, but we have an agreement that no child will bear a family members name.

My lo is called Luca, if he was a girl I loved lila/lula/lola variations. He answers to Loola

My back has well and truly gone. I'm getting close to taking the max daily allowance of painkillers and if I'm no better by the weekend I'm going back to the doc's & physio.
We haven't seen our hE friends in ages it feels because I can't drive
I'm wondering if the new car being higher up will help with that tbh. What does everyone think?

kayzisexpecting · 04/11/2008 12:00

ARGH!!!!

I'm trying to write my birth plan and my mind has just gone blank!! I can't think of a thing really. I know what I want but just can't think how to write it down. DS's was so easy to write and I do still have it but I'm not sure where it is and if I so much as look at a box DH moans at me.

Diege, Sorry your sickness is still bad. You have my sympathies.

Glask, I love the bedding for a boy, it's so cute. Saying that so is the girl's stuff.

Sorky, Sorry your back is bad. Mine is starting to get to me now. Might ask MW about it on Thursday.

Hello Playing, I hope you are ok.

pophas2boybeans · 04/11/2008 12:06

A HA - found you all. NJ, Kay, its been ages. How are you both?
xxx

Starshinetiger · 04/11/2008 13:00

Hi All, Haven't been on for ages - combination of such horrid tiredness and sickness and then working so hard before 2 weeks off. Feeling a bit more normal now after the holiday. Work is still busy, but feeling a bit more in control now that i don't feel like I need to throw up all the time.

So, what have I missed.
Think I have picked up that Diege you are pg?
Kay - have you been signed off work? hope you are okay?
What else is new? Have we heard from Teuch, I think last I heard before hols she was having to go to mainland?
LaTourEiffel, are you a name changer - do you have one DS at nursery (not that that gives too much away I think)?

Good luck to all those with scans this week. I have 20 week scan a week on Friday, although am 20+2 today. Am looking forward to it, particularly because it just seems that MW appts are so few and far between this time. I saw mine first week in October and don't see her again until week after Christmas!

Right, enough waffle - what a cheek, I'm away for weeks and then come back on and waffle.

Sorry for those with sickness, can so sympathise and mine wasn't that bad that I had to go into hospital. Wishing you a speedy pass through this stage.

Star xx

Starshinetiger · 04/11/2008 13:01

Sorry - Diege, meant to say CONGRATS!

tinkisbigandinneedofzzzzzzzzz · 04/11/2008 13:02

hi

glas both bedding and chairs are gorgeous

not long till you find out

hi pop waves how r u doing? gr8 to hear from you

sorky poor you with back and kay

hi playing waves

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 04/11/2008 13:04

Ses, hope your cons appointment goes well

Tink, sorry you didn't get to sleep any easier. I take it you've tried all of the hot milk/relaxing bath etc.? Not sure what else to suggest. I was going to suggest lavender oil, but I am 99% certain that lavender isn't recommended until after 36 weeks...

GYo and Heebee, I am awaiting your scan news with baited breath

Heebee, yes it had crossed my mind that he might not like being called Ned as he gets older, but that is up to him, whatever we called him he might not like it. DS1 has always been a Thomas, never a Tom, but his teacher last year has a son called Tom, and she kept calling DS1 Tom by mistake, he wouldn't even prick his ears up to her, it had just never registered to him that someone saying Tom was meaning him!

Glask hooray for doppler! And fingers crossed the sickness stays away.

Diege fingers also crossed that the session tomorrow will give you a break from the sickness.

Sorky, sorry about your back, I know I keep saying it, but it's not much fun this pregnancy lark is it?

Playing, contractions are OK thanks, slowly building in occurances and pressure, but I suppose that is only to be expected.

Pop!!!!! Hello, we were only talking about you a couple of days ago! How are you? Everything going well?

And Star, what is this friends reunited?? Glad you're feeling a bit better

Ok catch up done, and I forgot what I was going to say from me.....

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 04/11/2008 13:10

Oh oh oh, I remember, went to MW...

Iron is lower still than last time, but I actually don't feel too bad, a bit tired in the afternoon but what's new? So not bothered about that.

Other blood tests haven't come back to the GP's so she has to contact the hospital, or something, not sure...

BP is creeping up so she says "I am on high alert" ???? WTF? Why? It's not as though I know what my BP is even the minute after I step out of the MW room, so how exactly am I to alert her????

Anyway.... I plucked up the courage to ask about being booked in for an induction, she asked why, so I told her, she said she thinks I have a good case, she is going to make me a cons appointment at 36 weeks because it is them I have to convince, but she said from what I told her, she thinks they'll do it, she said she knows of women who have been induced for much less. So fingers crossed it will work out, because I probably don't need to spell it out, but the thought of labouring on my own or with the kids here scares the shit out of me!

tinkisbigandinneedofzzzzzzzzz · 04/11/2008 13:11

which taggie do you like nat?
yes i have tried hot chocolate cant have a bath before bed is right next to dds room would wake her
glas ye for finding beans hb

tinkisbigandinneedofzzzzzzzzz · 04/11/2008 13:13

glad midwife went well

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 04/11/2008 13:14

I'd say either the first one, or the turtle one, DS2 had a blanket taggie and never took any notice of it. He also had, in the turtle link, there is a blue/green rattle taggie, it has a mirror on the back of it, he loved loved loved it! ( it is in his keepsake box!)

sorkycake · 04/11/2008 14:16

both my boys have/had muslin squares. I can't recommend highly enough as you can buy a pack of 10 for a fiver, they're easily washed, there is no favourite one and are very easily replaced, unlike the quilty thing we had for Dd which we lost when she was 18months and we went to the national railway museum in York to see Thomas.
She cried for the full 2 hour trip home and can still remember it! (she's 6.5)

Sorky's top tip for the day!
If you do buy something 'specialised' like a stuffed rabbit, blankie etc, make sure you by 2 people buy 2

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 04/11/2008 14:51

Neither of mine have ever formed attachments to anything really, (except me ) don't know if we were lucky, we weren't worried about losing a blanket/dummy/bottle/whatever else! Or un-lucky as in nothing else comforted them.

Cosmogirl · 04/11/2008 14:55

Hi everyone,

GYo - sorry to hear your boss is being a pain. Not what you need..Good luck with the scan, will check in later to see how it went.

Playing - hello. Hope you're good and enjoying pregnancy now the sickness has gone. I am much better than I was, still nauseous, but only threw up once last week, so progress!

Big sympathies to Diege and Glask and anyone else suffering. I know it is supposed to be such a positive sign, but I found it really tough to feel positive during the really bad times.

Hi Star! Another fellow sickness sufferer.

Nat, Tink, Kayz - can't believe you guys are due so soon!(lucky things...!)

Am loving feeling movements. Started week 16 and now am feeling little kicks which is so cool - always brings a big smile to my face.

Cosmo
19 wks today

pophas2boybeans · 04/11/2008 15:55

Not to bad thanks NJ - I'm the size of a house. Measuring term but so not at that stage yet. Still - they said that if that wasn't the case with twins then they would be concerned so all is good.

I'm still being scanned every 2 weeks in London but if i can get to next week with no signs of TTTS then i can be scanned where i live until they come out. They have booked me a c-section for 36 weeks so only 9 weeks left! whoo hoo. They are weighing roughly 2lbs each and they estimate that they will be just over 6lbs each at 36 weeks which hopefully means that we can keep them out of the NICU when they are born. we've finally decided on names. We're going for Henry and Hugo.

Are you still set on Ned? That's such a cute name.

sorkycake · 04/11/2008 15:57

Pop can I ask why you're having a C-section? just interested is all.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 04/11/2008 16:09

Hi Cosmo, glad sickness is finally settled, you sound like you're starting to enjoy it more now, talking of movements and everything

Pop, fingers crossed for the next scan then, will make life a little easier no doubt. Your names are lovely How is your sister doing?

Yes, I'm still set on Ned, but DH is a different matter.... I am going to stop before the steam starts coming out of ears again!
