Morning all

Finally feeling a bit more human here.

Diege - good luck with the scan, looking forward to hearing how it goes

Nat- at your doctor being so rubbish. Hope you can monitor your BP yourself but seems a bit odd to leave it all to you.

Kay- your painting sounds like its coming on well

GYo · 06/11/2008 08:50

Morning tink cant believe you are now 30 weeks!

Good luck with the food measuring. I always used to love the machine thing that closed in around my feet when i was little

Cosmogirl · 06/11/2008 09:00

Just a quickie as not had time to catch up properly on last couple of days...

Nat - girl's name is April Reese Hope you all like.

Good luck for scan today Diege.

Bump size wise mine seems to be getting bigger but not a proper rounded thing yet. I think at 24 weeks it might suddenly start growing lots.

Heebeejeebee · 06/11/2008 09:12

Diege - good luck for today! As NJ says, I think your sickness is a good sign, but let us know how you get on..

GYo - I loved that machine too!!! I used to be really disappointed if we went to the old fashioned shop that used the slide and the tape measure..

Cosmo - April Reese is a lovely name

Tink - I can't believe you're 30 weeks!!!!

NJ - how on earth are you supposed to measure your own blood pressure? I can imagine you've got better things to spend your money on than a heart rate monitor.. Stoopid GP

kayzisexpecting · 06/11/2008 09:14

Morning,

Nat, that is just stupid really. He should have given you one of those BP machines to use.

Diege, Good luck today. I'm sure it will be fine.

Lovely name Cosmo. They go so well together.

Tink, Wow 30 weeks!! Time does fly when you are feeling like a beached whale having fun.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 06/11/2008 09:21

GYo, glad you're feeling better, sounds like a bad one I have no way of monitoring my BP myself, I was going to get one of the monitors for home use, but when I asked the MW if it was worth it, she said they are completely unreliable and a waste of time, so I didn't get one. Now not sure what to do, if I get one and they are as bad as she was saying then it could either give out a lower reading and make me miss something, or give out a higher reading and have me in bits! Or it could be the whole thing like about home dopplers, they don't seem to like people having the same access to stuff as they do IYKWIM? Can understand why, things like that must cause a lot of worry for people who don't know what they are doing, and so a lot more work for doctors and MW's. Swings and roundabouts!

Tink, hoorah for 30 week marker Have fun in town. I am off myself in a bit, the boys have got a birthday party tomorrow, I got the card and pressie when I went in on Tuesday, but forgot the wrapping paper

Cosmo, very pretty names, and they go very well together

Bump wise here, have gone from not being very big to feeling like I am going to pop, I guess all of the water I am holding is also being held in the waters around the baby. But then I feel like everywhere is going to pop, and I think if I bite my tongue once more it really will pop! DH said I need a tap inserted in each foot to drain it all off, isn't he just absolutely hilarious?

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 06/11/2008 09:25

Morning Heebee and Kay

Problem is, even if I could monitor my BP myself, it isn't always a sign of anything anyway. The main thing to check for is the protein, but he wouldn't even check it once he'd done my BP, saying it'd be fine. When I was induced for it last time, they only caught my BP high once, it was everything else that made them induce me.

kayzisexpecting · 06/11/2008 09:27

Round here they give you a BP monitor. Someone I work with had PE in her first 2 pregnancies so this time round the MW gave her a BP monitor and she has to go in once a week to get a nurse to check her urine.

She moans like hell about having to go every week but at least she knows if there is a problem.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 06/11/2008 09:41

I was just thinking actually, I think I have heard you can buy the little sticks to test for protein on eBay. Don't know if I am going a little OTT? I just hate the not knowing, I feel no differently now to when I did when they induced me, and even if my BP did shoot up, or if I had a protein plus, or any of the other stuff, I didn't know about it last time, till they told me, I didn't feel poorly or unwell or anything. Just don't know what I should be looking out for, when all the major signs are only detected with instruments, montiors, wee sticks, blood tests etc.

I don't know if anyone will remember me saying but when the MW caught my BP high last time, she wouldn't even let DH drive me to the hospital, it had to be an ambulance, because I could have started fitting at any time. That is what worries me, what if I did start fitting while I am here alone with DS2? I have no way of knowing if that is about to happen or not, just as I didn't know it when I walked into the MW's last time.

Sorry, I am thinking out loud.

GYo · 06/11/2008 09:44

Hi Nat
sorry- think my brain is still mush. completely mis read your first post.

The whole thing is mental. Think you are right about doppler theory thing of the professionals not liking us to access such stuff.

Cosmo- lovely pretty name

Got ongoing issues with my boss. He just tries to make me feel crap all the time about being pregnant, needing time off for antental appointments etc. He does it without actually saying anything IYSWIM. He does by by not doing or saying anything helpful at all. Its a big company so doesnt hit his personal pocket if Im not working on my work for an afternoon. He is just an arse!
This is my second time of taking 2 days in a row off sick in a month and Im just left feeling nothing but guilt and stress which isnt any good for me and beany. Makes me so cross.

We are about to hear about a heap of redundancies- sounds mean but I REALLY hope he goes. He is nothing but a waste of space.

Sorry just having a rant...

GYo · 06/11/2008 09:47

Checking protien sounds like a sensible option to me, defo not OTT.

Do anything that will keep you more at ease. Sitting there wondering will only potentially push up your BP anyway IYSWIM.

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 06/11/2008 10:01

NJ - I think the test sticks you use are called Ketostix (but you might want to double check) and most pharmacies will be able to sell them. You might get asked why as people use to abuse them a few years back when doing Atkins diet. If you tell them that a white lie that MW has recommended them, should be no problem.

Cosmo - April Reese is lovely

GYo - your boss does sound like a real arse if you don't mind me saying so. Fingers crossed he doesn't stay your boss for long...

tink - 30 weeks!!!

Hello Heebee and everyone else!

I seem to be "working from home" at the moment. I have to go down to Brighton later as one of my stores have their records for controlled drugs (things like morphine, temazepam, methadone if that means anything to anyone!)in a mess so muggins here has to go and put it right! They've been without a store manager for over a year now so it's really difficult to hold anyone accountable but I think I've managed to recruit someone for them - she accepted verbally yesterday

Sorry - I've rambled again!!!

2beautifulgalsandabean · 06/11/2008 10:04

Morning.

Diege- hope everything goes well today not long now. Will be thinking of you.

NJ- Doc sounds like an arse think that if he wants you too monitor your BP he should of given you something to do so. Can you not give your midwife a call and see what she suggeats? Tell her how worried you are. They should be keeping a closer eye on you.

Cosmo- great name

GYO- sorry you are having problems with your boss, is there anyone higher you could talk to about him?

tink- hoorah for 30 weeks, not long now. Enjoy the shopping

Ses- was meant to say at you £250.00 spend, but great savings.

2beautifulgalsandabean · 06/11/2008 10:05

Only 23.5 hours until my scan

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 06/11/2008 10:11

2BG - at scan!!!
V exciting!

I'm not feeling too bad about my £250 as it only ended up £168 after my discount

I'm quite pleased as I've bought my 3yr old godaughter a Christmas present this morning. It's a book called "Leah's Christmas Story" and tells the nativity story from the perspective of Leah, the innkeepers daughter.

I've actually bought 3 people's presents now and 2 bits for DH! That's almost organised for me!

GYo · 06/11/2008 10:34

Hi 2BG and Ses

So exciting about the scan. Love that anticipation bit almost as much as the scan itself!

2BG - thanks for suggestion of speaking to someone higher. I've already formally documented a number of comments he's made to me via email to career mentor so its on record should anything get worse but im ready to step it up a bit.

tinkisexcitedabouthavingababy · 06/11/2008 11:33

i cant believe that i am 30 weeks either

dd measures the same with feet which is good phew!!
should be alright with her shoes for a while

gyo - poor you with boss!!

kayzisexpecting · 06/11/2008 11:43

Hello.

MW appointment was fine. No ketones today so she said all is well. Except my back. I told her I have been having problems with it and she is referring me to a physio and that they'll probably get me a brace to wear.

GYo, sorry your boss is a useless idiot. It is a good idea to go higher.

YAY for scans!!! They are so exciting. I think you should get more than 2!

Ses, I am very I haven't got 1 present yet. Except we're getting a puppy and we have said that its like a family present.

Diege · 06/11/2008 12:45

Hello! Back from scan and all is well . Saw baby and strong heartbeat, everything looking good. I am over the moon, as I really was expecting the worse. I had a streak of blood this morning when I wiped, so thought here we go again, but sonographer saw no signs of a bleed and there's been nothing since (phew!). Talk about timing. Scan measures roughly 8 weeks, and I'm 7 weeks 4 days according to LMP so I'm happy with that!
Sorry for me post - will have a read through now but just wanted to let you know the good news

GYo · 06/11/2008 12:57

Diege- - so pleased its all ok. Hurray for a good scan.

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 06/11/2008 13:07

Diege - that's FANTASTIC

Am sooo pleased for you. I let out a little scream of excitement in the middle of the dispensary!

Diege · 06/11/2008 13:27

Thanks girls!! LOL at scream SES . Feel happier about booking in with midwife now too.
SES do you remember my worry about CBD conception monitor showing 2-3 weeks when should 'really' have been 1-2 weeks? My '8 week' dates from scan would fit in with ealry implantation theory we had, putting me a few days agead, so feel I can put that one to bed!

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 06/11/2008 13:38

Yes - I remember! All fits perfectly now!

tinkisexcitedabouthavingababy · 06/11/2008 13:56
