nelix2000 · 26/06/2009 15:31

heeby that is SO exciting!!!....I started to get BH v early on but they got worse as due date approached.....I have my money on you going before your due date at least you won't have to put up with the heat!

I really feel for you other ladies....I was melting in May, I dread to think what it must be like for you!

smiley glad the physio is helping, there are good and bad days, but soon enough it will be done.

We are now on 4 hourly feeds, can't beleive my wee angel is 4 weeks on tuesday!!! it flies!! but I am getting some sleep now(not that she ever woke in the night just sqeaks for milk, drinks then goes back to bed) but i get to sleep more than 2 hours in a row!! hoorah!

Heebychick · 26/06/2009 16:03

4 weeks !!! Heavens where did that time go?!! So great that she has settled into a routine and you are getting back to normal, oh for that phase! Any tips on sibling intros nelix?? My DD is excited and hugs my bump which is lovely, but i sense some grumpiness sometimes when we talk about 'baby' so i'm sure we'll have both sides.

I went to a VBAC clinic/class today which was realy interesting, swayed me back the other way! God i seem to have spent this whole PG bouncing from one to the other! Anyhow, i hope that it comes out soon which ever way so i can escape the heat and heaviness, it's not fun and i am sooo tired.

The BH have ceased a bit today but had a few during class, thought it was going to turn into a practical session at one point!

Head isn't down far yet but i hope by next Wed it will be locked in a bit.

My DH is seeing Blur next Friday so will be quite far away for the day and overnight then we have a weddng of a close friend on Saturday .... you can guarantee that baby will come Thursday middle of the night eh!

Pezzina · 26/06/2009 16:34

Hi everyone

I'm in a bit of a grump at the mo as I've just been told that my DH and I can't go to the evening NHS classes run by my hospital as they are for 'out of area' couples and not for locals. We have to go to the daytime ones.

Looks like we'll have to book into NCT ones if we want to try and go for evening classes - my DH really wants to come along and wouldn't be able to make any daytime classes. I have also been looking at getting a DVD for us to watch at home instead.

What are/did you ladies doing/do?

nelix2000 · 26/06/2009 17:45

pezz thats a bit rubbish!...I never went to any classes so cannot advise I am affraid!

heeby we did a number of things....Phoebe bought DS a bike....well ok we bought it and he got her a teddy. Then when she was home, we put a little car in her moses basket and when DS saw her he pulled back her blanket and tada a present for him. I think it worked better than the bike tbh as he had met her, seen her and understood that she was not just a bump! lol yes guarenteed you will go into labour then!!

OP posts:
Heebychick · 26/06/2009 20:08

nelix thanks so much for that, that's spooky as our new baby is 'buying' our DD a bike!! Daddy has lots of them and he has been researching a fab new wooden one for her, we have mentioned bikes and summer etc so will see what happens. Great idea about the hidden gift too, i will def do that! She is into magnets and stickers so i nice sticker album or something can be on the cards or does anyone know if you can buy a 'timmy time' lamb?

pezz i didn't do any this time, except the one today about VBAC but last time they were run by our midwife office and were in the evening, mind you my DH only came to one even tho they were in the evening! I'm not sure i got anything out them, apart from the hospital tour which was great, so didn't go again this time.

Heebychick · 26/06/2009 20:32

Found a timmy time! It's a whistling one! so that'll be hiding in baby's cot when we get home as a gift for our DD! thanks Nelix!
x

SparkyMalarky · 27/06/2009 20:44

ello ladies - where has the time gone? DD is 7 weeks old tomorrow

heeby can't believe you're due so soon! I felt exactly the same about my vbac - my waters went but I didn't go into established labour, and even after I'd agreed to have a low level induction I was saying to DH 'maybe I should just have a section - will you go and ask?' but I'm v pleased I didn't - sooo much easier to recover..

how's everyone else? nelix - how's you?

funtime? pezz - I did NCT both times - really useful and mine covered more 'emotional' aspects - including family dynamics etc with more than one child.

was going to say more, but typing one handed whilst bf-ing too tricky!

Heebychick · 27/06/2009 21:10

Hello sparky! Fab to hear from you, and good to hear that you are positive re the vbac and that you were the same as me, i feel more positive about it now, i have a good frame of mind and i think as long as i do all i can to prepare mentally and physically then what will be will be.

SparkyMalarky · 28/06/2009 15:31

other than my NCT classes, I did nothing to prepare - top tip for labour would be to stay upright as long as possible. Even with CFM (which most places want if you're having a VBAC) I stood for the first 5 hours....and I'm sure that helped things along ( I went from 5- 10 cm dilated in less than an hour and a half!)

How are all you pregnant lovelies coping in this heat and humidity? It's so grey and sticky.....

Heebychick · 28/06/2009 19:51

That's great advice thank you sparky i have made sure that i have requested the mobile montior so that i can move around. i'm positive that lying down all but brings an end to a quick labour!
Did you tear at all? if so how long did it take to heal? i'm so worried i will tear.

Heat is awful, everything is swollen and feels fat, roll on 2 weeks time! (hopefully!)

smileycat · 29/06/2009 09:59

My nieces plug went on Saturday so just waiting to hear when labour finally starts, she is due Wednesday, don't know how long they leave it once the plug goes, but I guess it could be anytime now.

I think baby has moved around again, I can't feel the head pushing down any more & the pain in my bum has really eased up the last few days so I don't mind now if she doesn't turn head down until she is due to come out if it stops the pain from coming back too strong.

Heeby 2 wks will fly by for you (I hope) its all getting very exciting & scary that our dates are coming up so quickly.
I had to be cut with DS as he had the cord around his neck a couple of times. I remember being very uncomfortable for the first few days & having to sit on the side of my bum rather than full on & I remember being in the supermarket about a wk after birth & feeling like my insides were about to drop out of my scar, apart from that I think I healed fairly quickly

WanabeMum · 29/06/2009 12:27

Hello ladies, it's been manic here so haven't had much time to get on here and speak to you all. Been sat here catching up though.
Wow Heeby not long for you now!!! You're right, you can almost guarantee that baby will arrive at the most inappropriate time! although I'm hoping not for your sake. Lets hope they make an appearance soon though.

I'm actually starting to get a little nervous as I'm 27 weeks today! It seems to be flying around despite people telling me at the start that your first pregnancy drags because you're so desperate for it to be over (occasionally happens, but overall has flown by!). Ooh exciting times, we'll have more bubs in the next few weeks.

Lovely to hear from you sparky & nelix. Can't believe your little ones are 7 weeks and 4 weeks already! how time flies.

Ahhhhhhh this heat is aweful! I'm normally a very summertime person and love it hot but at the moment it's wearing me out. I had a few moments yesterday where I thought I may pass out, quite scarey actually. Just hoping I can bare it for another few weeks. Only 8 weeks until I finish work! woo hoo

SparkyMalarky · 29/06/2009 12:38

wanabe - can't believe you're 27 weeks! I bet you can't wait to finish work

smiley - I had a show and my waters went about 5 hours later so it could be soon - but I think it can be a couple of weeks before it kicks off..I think as long as you're waters haven't gone, they'll leave you to it! Exciting tho...more babies on the way!

I was cut with DD too and had a few stitches...it was actually fine - take the painkillers regularly and sit on cushions...but I agree with smiley about the insides falling out feeling....you need to do your pelvic floor exercises!!!

spats · 29/06/2009 16:28

pezz, i went to ante natal classes for 1st but found them a bit of a waste of time, but everyone is different. I guess with your 1st you like to do the things like this. I didn't go to top up classes for next DS and not doing anything for this one. Bit bad though that you cant go to your local ones when it suits you.
It is hot, hot, hot. I am annoyed coz i brought nice summer stuff last year and couldn't wear it coz all it did was rain and then this year when we have a heatwave i am in mat gear. I look like a scak of potatoes in the nice denim dress my friend gave me so not wearing it again so am in trousers and baby doll tops. Thing is i only have 3 strappy ones so am getting bored of them now!!! 29 weeks tommorrow - horray, starting to go quickly again. I found it has dragged since the 21 week scan but now it seems to have picked up again. Mind you i am in 2 minds as my 2DS starts school in sept and i don't want him to go as i love having him at home. so in some ways don't want sept to come too quickly. After a week of being so tired can't think or be bothered to do anyhting i hvae a second wind (long may it stay). I spring cleaned the kitchen yesterday and hoovered (properly!!!) i hope my energy levels don't drop again, it was horrid alst week. Anyway must go as i feel i am just rambling now. Need to go get a nice cold, ice cold, full fat can of coke- nothing like it on a hot day. Need 500 extra calories in last trimester, coke and chocolate hits the spot for me!! xx

nelix2000 · 30/06/2009 09:11

Hello all! wow I cannot beleive how close you are all getting!!

wannabe27 weeks feels so good enjoy it

heebyI was cut with DS to allow the forceps in the pull the wee bugger out!....The did inject me with a local, which hurt lol, the cut hurt too, but in the throws of labour and crowining its not a huge deal. Agree with others you do feel like your insides will fall out lol. I healed in a couple of weeks...stings when you pee, so keep a jug of water by the loo to pour on when you pee, works wonders!

spats29 weeks!! wow!!and sounds like you are nusting!!

smileycat · 30/06/2009 09:22

My niece saw the midwife yesterday & she said she could feel the babies head by running two fingers around her cervix, so she is opening up, she had an uncomfortable night & had a little bit of blood this morning so hopfully it will be today.

My hubby has just phoned to say that he saw our tenants last night & they havn't found another place to rent yet..they are supose to be out on the 20th July & we have our furniture being delivered back from storage on the 21st. I am beginning to panic..its not what I needed to hear just now
I will only have 4.5 wks left for my due date when we get back to UK & if I have to go into a hotel or rent somewhere I will not be happy

Heebychick · 30/06/2009 11:12

smiley loads of luck to your niece, that is great and i really hope she has a good/easy birth! Do let us know all. With DD i had a show but my waters didn't go for 2 days, although they kept an eye on me for those 2 days and told me to watch for labour signs.

I really hope your tenants can get out soon, can you not force them to leave? i don't know much about being a landlord but it sounds wrong that it's your home but you may have to stay at a hotel!

wanabe i am so shocked ... 27 weeks!! it must feel like it's flown by cos it really has! yes agree re heat, hate it and everything is so fat, we are supposed to be going to a wedding on Sat and i have no idea what to squeeze my fat feet into - very attractive huh.

spats i am doing just that, sainsburys have just delivered the biggest van of soft drink, oj, kitchen and toilet rolls to last us through a long blackout!

sparky don't laugh but as i read the start of you post i immedietely started doing my pelvic floor exercises!! I have been massaging that 'area' (didn't think i'd ever have to do that!) so i hope it's not too much damage, and yes will keep jug of water by the loo nelix great tip!

It has to be better than a c-section scar after all!

I had to go to our maternity day unit last night as baby is head down but very mobile, it seems that when i am upright it stays down but if i lie down it pops up again, although i have heard that 2nd babies don't engage as early as 1st ones? i have been having lots of low period type pains and they almost feel like baby is sitting on my bladder. All urine and blood checks are fine so i guess it's just my body getting ready!

Right i'm off to rest my fat feet and hope these B-Hix calm down! ... chat later ladies

WanabeMum · 30/06/2009 12:09

Hello everyone!

Heeby i started doing my pelvic floor exercises after reading Sparky's post too! . It has flown by to be honest. I'm excited now too but have a feeling this last stretch may be the bit that drags!

Spats that's so unfair! Surely as the landlord all you have to do is give them notice, which it seems you have, and it's down to them to make sure they're out by that date? Don't put up with it, don't need extra stress at this stage in your pg xxx

OMG it's too warm today. I work in a hospital too and i'm sure they still have the heating on!! luckily i'm based in offices at the back but have to make regular trips to the wards and OMG it's like walking into an oven, i don't know how the nursing staff haven't flaked out yet!

Where's Funtime??

nelix2000 · 30/06/2009 14:05

heeby def true about 2nd babies engaging later! Phoebe was back to back and not fully engaged when i went into labour with her! then all day on the monday when i was in labour she sorted it all out and delvered!

OP posts:
SparkyMalarky · 30/06/2009 14:12

Same here - thursday DD was not engaged at all; saturday afternoon fully engaged and sunday afternoon (7 hours before born) MW could feel the head when she was checking to see if I was dilating.....

smiley - any news on your niece?

heeby - it is without doubt better than a cs (but still be careful picking up your DD if you do get stitches.....)

now squeeze that pelvic floor ladies

spats · 30/06/2009 15:01

does anyone else find that the top of the bump hurts like a bruise. Its usually towards the end of the day but today its earlier. It is really causing me grief, if i touch it makes it worse amd is really feels like you are touching a bruise. I guess thats where the well placed kicks are.
I work ina hospital but luckily its in the labs where they have to have air con coz the machines pack up if it gets too hot. IN winter its freezing for me but today i am grateful for it. I feel like a beached whale today. I long for my shape to be back to normal, it feel sso weird being frumpy I guess its worth it though for what i will get at the end, mind you its me that has to give up my shape, my dance classes etc the DH seems to not make any sacrifcies - oh except lack of BD x

Heebychick · 30/06/2009 19:31

I am squeezing again! i have found that if i promise myself to do at least 10 after each wee whilst still sat down (not mid flow as that's not good for bladder etc) it makes me sit for a bit longer and seeing as i go about 30 times a day it means i get lots done!

spats yes my bump has been sore on top, i heard that it could be something to do with breech babies at a later stage. but yes i guess it's where everything is pushed up there and together with the pull of skin downwards it's not nice. My friend used a belly bra support type thing which helped 'lift' her bump a bit and released the stress on the skin at the top, that might work?

nelix2000 · 01/07/2009 09:44

spats my bump hurt there too!

If anyone has a girl, and wants some clothes, let me know! I grow very very long children and DD is just outgrown most of her 0-3 month dress's etc. Sad days......she has also grown a centimetre a week!...DS was the same...they do not stay babies for long! So these clothes have been worn maybe once each, and I will happily gift them on if anyone wants them

OP posts:
Heebychick · 01/07/2009 14:40

That's really kind of you nelix i am happyto gift off some of my bits too, i have plenty of maternity wear and things like almond oil and bump bands if anyone would like them!

Have some nasty pains in my very lower back today, could be the busy morningn i've had or could be .... also still having tightenings and pain in lower tummy. Have also been feeling quite sicky today too.

Please please be early baby!

nelix2000 · 01/07/2009 15:12

Ooooooooooooooooooooh!!!! heeby sounds quite promising!!!!!!!!keep us posted!!
