Hi Heeby I've found this article which may help your breached baby! I hope this link works - go to homepage.ntlworld.com/ilana.m/turnbaby.htm

Heebychick · 12/06/2009 21:54

Thanks so much pezz* that is a great article!

(heeby crawls off to stick her bum in the air!)

Baby has been moving around lots these past few days so fingers crossed it might get into position!

If anyone is watching More4 and the film Sideways, my DH and i did this road trip and followed in their footsteps (ish) on our wedding/honeymoon in 2006! Lots of nostalgia watching it
xx

WanabeMum · 15/06/2009 12:10

Hi everyone,

My week was so busy last week i couldn't get on here much.

Heeby poor you, get that bum in the air girly!! I'm going to speak to the midwives at the birthing centre and go over for a look. Spoke to my friend who gave birth there last week and she is raving about it. I really can't face the home birth lark, I have a very active and nosey dog who would be a stressor and the thought of being 20mins away from medical intervention if needed really scares me. Maybe on my next one?

Funtime that's fantastic news that your little bean is doing exactly as it should! Keep us posted.

Wasabi as someone else said earlier (think it was pezz) never be affraid to post on here, you need to vent your anxieties and here is the perfect place to do that. There will always be someone with useful advice i'm sure. Keep positive though, one day at a time!

How was everyone's weekend?

nelix2000 · 15/06/2009 13:36

Hey all Sorry been a bit busy lol! I forgot how much a newborn poo's!!!!wow!!! she sleeps well tho so cannot complain....she gives a little squeek(her new nickname lol) feeds for 10 mins then sleeps for 3 hours at night! she snacks more in the day but my nipples are holding up to the job so far

heeby how you doing??any sign of that baby shifting yet?how long can they leave it before the baby can't turn????

funtime glad all is well!!!

Hope everyone had a lovelly weekend!

Hi all,

nelix i think it's around 36-37 weeks (so this week and next - and def by my next MW appt) and i think it depends on how it is situated (if it's stuck!) and the size of it etc - and as we know it's a biggun! I'm not sure if it has moved, i have a hard lumb moving around near my ribs but that could be a bum! or a hip! who knows!! will wait and see.

TBH i kind of secretly hoping that it won't have turned then at least i'll have the option of chosing a c-section taken away and just have one anyway, i'm getting scared about a VBAC the closer i get to having it! with it's head measurement off the chart >97centile (maybe your DP can help here) i'm guessing that aint gonna 'pop' out!

It sounds like your little girl is wonderful, maybe it's all phoebe's that sleep well ... mine did almost right away - no doubt it's now my turn to have a non-sleeper now tho!

xx

smileycat · 16/06/2009 14:34

I've been in so much pain the last couple of days with the pain in my right bum cheek.
It used to be just when I had been sat down for a while & hurt for a couple of mins after I got up, but its fairly constant now. I had to walk into town today to get some new school shoes & it was so painful on the way back I didn't know if I was going to make it to the car.
I've now phoned the midwife & booked in for some physo, they are going to call me back with an appointment soon.
God I hope it helps I've still got just over 11 wks to go I would hate to be confined to the house not being able to walk anywhere.
I looked it up on the internet & it sounds more like PGP (pelvic gurdle pain) than sacatia as the midwife said I had a couple of wks ago. Guess I'll find out for sure when I get my appointment through

Anyway how is everyone else, Heeby are you getting excited/nervous yet?? was your dd early or late?

Pezzina · 16/06/2009 15:46

Oh dear, Smileycat that doesn't sound good at all. I hope that the physio does help you. As you say, 11 weeks is a long time to be confined to your home. My fingers are well and truely crossed that you get an appointment very soon.

I have my 28 week appointment with the MW tomorrow. She is going to take more bloods - yuk! Must remember to listen to my Paul McKenna hypnosis download tonight - to stop me freaking out at the needles. It worked perfectly last time but I was good and listened to it three times at least! Just to be on the safe side.

Suffered with hideously swollen ankles over the weekend - was overjoyed to see my ankle bones again Sunday evening

Heebychick · 17/06/2009 08:15

hi ladies, apologies for the potential grammer and spelling mistakes in this post, i have DD on lap and leaning all over me!

(get off MN mummy!!)

smiley - poor you, that sounds awful! good luck with phsio, it really helped me as did yoga. maybe acupuncture might help u too?

I am kinda excited, still totally undecided about whether i want vbac or elcs, i have truly hated having the choice and have asked too many people for advice as i'm now so unsure. i guess if bub is still breech this week then my choices become limited!

dd was 2 weeks late and it drove me mad being soooo late!

WanabeMum · 17/06/2009 12:17

Hi everyone,

Smiley that sounds aweful! Hope the physio can sort you out.

Heeby i hope little one decides to stay put then if you want a c-section, although wouldn't you rather have the choice? I guess never having been through it i can't comment but c-sections scare me.

Pezz i know what you mean about the needles thing, i almost passed out at my antenatal appointment so dreading this next one. I was ok at the 17week one though, think my yoga breathing helped but then again it was only one bottle they took. going to have to prepare myself in just over 3 weeks too. Yuk!

Hope everyone else is ok.

Heebychick · 18/06/2009 12:18

wanabe i really am totally undecided ... i had one before and reall didn't want one, i spent 36 hours denying i might need one because of the position of DD but then having had one i feel more scared about natural birth! i guess both can do damage to you! I recovered really well from section before and was having nice steady forest walks and lunch out at 5-6 days post birth so hope that i'd be the same again. i really wish i could know that i would get through a natuaral birth unscathed but who knows huh.

The trouble is i feel pushed to have a vbac, and would feel very guilty asking for one, which is a shame as it shouldn't be like that should it. Ho hum, what will be will be i guess.

xx

WanabeMum · 18/06/2009 13:19

Aww Heeby that's a horrible way to feel. I see now why you are secretly hoping the decision is made for you. You're right it should be your decision, especially if you're genuinly worried about a VBAC!! Hope it works out for you.

Had some horrid news last night. Went up our friends only to find out they have been through a miscarriage over the weekend. They found out they were PG after our weekend away a fortnight ago but only told their parents, then on saturday she started to bleed. She went to the hospital and was told to keep faith as the neck of the womb was still closed, then on Monday when the bleeding hadn't subsided it was confirmed. They were absolutely devastated obviously. But to top it off, they made her sit in main outpatients to wait for the phlebotomist just after finding out she had lost the baby! She told me she burst into tears as it was only just sinking in and felt humiliated sat in a waiting room full of people. Some people have no compassion. What is wrong with our NHS staff?!

I know some of you have been through this and was hoping you may have some words of advice?
I felt aweful and very guilty for being pregnant (she would be mortified if she knew that though) and really wish there was something i could do or say to help. Deep down i know there isn't and the only way the pain will ease is when she is PG again Feeling very blue today as it played on my mind all night.

Sorry for the moan

Heebychick · 18/06/2009 22:22

wanabe how awful for your friend, she must be so upset and so damn awful of the nurses to make her wait in public! . My friend went through the same a while ago and i felt so guilty being pg when she had been through that, i found i didn't want to talk much about my pg with her and avoided discussing it most of the time, but as time has gone by i have relaxed a bit, she was always really pleased for me and excited about bump but i still felt awful.

I have also been very careful not to quiz my friend about 'whether she is trying/testing/symptoms etc' it's been hard because i want to get excited for her but i have to stop myself asking.

I am sure she will appreciate knowing you are there as her friend and around for support, try not to be blue about it honey.
It is very upsetting and very sad for them all.

Heebychick · 19/06/2009 12:36

Hi all,

Well i've just had an interesting midwife appointment. She wasn't sure of position so i have to be seen again next thurs to check then will go for a scan if not.

But more worrying is that i had a high glucose result on wee sample, +2 and a bit of protein too. She called the day unit and they advised to have a blod glucose done and i have to get results on monday, if it is Gest Diab (even tho i didn't have it at 28 weeks) i shall have to treated right away apparently.

Weird huh - nothing is simple with this one!

How is everyone else?

Pezzina · 19/06/2009 15:43

Hi Heeby ? yes that is weird. Thank goodness they do keep up the testing though ? just goes to show anything can happen.

I?m doing well thanks. My MW appointment went well. She took more bloods and I was fine ? phew! I?ve also applied for some antenatal classes ? hopefully the evening ones as my DH wants to come too. Will have to wait till next week to find out if we can get them. Otherwise it will have to be daytime ones on my own which I really don?t want as this is my first baby I really want DH to be able to come along and ?learn? with me.

Have also finalised my maternity leave start date with work. Going to use up some holiday first so have basically just got 6 weeks left at work ? woohooo!

Wanabe ? sorry to hear about your friend. I agree with Heeby and think that she will definitely appreciate your support as a friend. I can?t believe she made her wait out in the public waiting room ? you would think they would have a little more ?understanding? than that!

Heebychick · 20/06/2009 11:18

pezz wow just 6 weeks to go till you lave, that's come round quickly! So glad your appointment went well and you got through the dreaded needles, i have a whopping bruise now (as i normally do with bloods) so no short sleeves for me! Good luck with ante-natal classes, i enjoyed them first time around and having DH there it helped him to understand more about what we mums-to-be are going through etc.

I am feeling fed up today, DD is really pushing all the stops out to make our lives hell by demanding attention 100% of the time, Dh and i can't even talk for a few seconds without her throwing a paddy, we put it down to the iminent baby arrival and a strive for attention 'don't forget me mum' so we are trying to be supportive but it's hard when you spend most of your day trying to calm her down. Roll on post-birth and having my body back to normal!

We have finalised names! We were in doubt about our chosen girls names but think we are there now, have packed hosp bags and got baby stuff down from the lost - all very exciting but quite scary too!

nelix2000 · 21/06/2009 09:31

heeby I hear that! re 2 year old acing up! DS did it to me as he knew I could not chase him, or lift him (he is 2 years old and 100cm tall and weighs 16kg he is V tall) and he played up big time towards the end. Post birth his sleeping was affected resulting in a less than happy boy by afternoon and now she is almost 3 weeks he is slowly getting back to normal it is a godsend to get your body back and show them who the boss actually is

Phoebe is starting to go longer than 3 hours between feeds which is fab!!!

I cannot believe how quickly it is all coming around for you!!!I cannot wait to see all the pics!!!

OP posts:
Heebychick · 21/06/2009 11:37

Thanks nelix it's refreshing to know they are the same in their toddler ways! I am sure she is finding it strange that mummy is tired and unable to bend, and we talk about the baby a lot in conversation so maybe she's feeling a little threatened or concerned.

That's great about Phoebe sleeping longer, the joy of big babies huh. Have you gotten into any sort of routine now? I imagine once you have your body back and you are able to think straight it must be nice to get some order again,i know i shall be happy for that time!

I have to call about my results tomorrow regarding GD plus will see a midwife on thurs to check position, i've been feeling kicks in my pelvis area so guessing it's not head down now! but i'm sure it changes as each day passes!

smileycat · 22/06/2009 08:40

NHS could do with a little tact I know they are overworked, but they need to see the bigger picture when dealing with these kinds of problems.
Heeby so exciting getting your hospital bag together I guess it makes it all feel real
Pezz I'm on work count down too I have 4 wks left today. I have a physio appointment half day Weds & have taken Thurs & Fri off so only really 3 to go & the last wk I will be training my relief so looking at it that way only really 2....OMG thats scary I still have so much to do.
11 year old DS's are just as bad as 2 year olds mine is playing me, I've tried to explain that I can't do as much now & he needs to help out some more & although he does to a degree he still plays up on the attention side of things, I too I'm hoping that its a little bit of jealousy that the baby will soon be here.

I have my physio appointment on Weds for the pain in my bum cheek. Its not been too bad the last couple of days but has its moments so looking forward to some relief
Saw my MW yesterday & she said the head is down which is a good sign (sorry Heeby) & all is well

Heebychick · 23/06/2009 08:04

Hi all,

Well i had my blood results last night for GD and turns out i am borderline and creeping up, good job i only have 3 weeks left! so i have another appointment on thurs to see the MW to check position and was told to push for a final growth scan so i can make a final decision re VBAC or ELCS.

I cannot believe i have spent most of my PG going from one to the other, awful to have the choice and i shall hate to have to decide again!

How is everyone?

smiley good luck on Wed - wow 2 ish weeks left!! gosh that's come around quickly, i rememeber sending you good sticky vibes al those weeks ago.

I have just found out my friend is 11 weeks pg which is lovely as they got married last year and been trying since then. It's great to have someone to pass lots of baby things too as i like the idea of being able to help them as much as i was helped when i fell pg with my DD.

spats · 23/06/2009 12:53

hi all, been away on hols for past week to York. had a lovely time and was actually quite relaxing which i didn't think was possible with 2 DS!!! Had 28 week appointment yesterday with midwife and all seemed OK. Had blood and Hb is bit low so think am a bit anaemic which accounts for the tiredness (mind you running a house, bring up to DS and working probably contributes to it as well!!)So will up the dose of iron at some point. In a can't be bothered to do much mood now though, just doing bare minimum to get throguh the day.
Can't wait to get body back - forget that the bump doesn't shift and you can't bend down to pick things up or tie shoe laces, its a pain. Only 12 weeks to go i keep telling myself.
Hope everyone OK, sort of scanned messages over last 2 weeks to catch up but am at work so can't really post much.Only 8 week until mat leave for me xx

Heebychick · 25/06/2009 14:46

Hi all, how is everyone?

I've been having a lot of BH today, quite painful ones too.

Baby has been checked and is head down so that will mean we are on route to having the planned VBAC unless it moves again.

I really would like it to come out today please, it's so hot and i feel so huge!!

Pezzina · 25/06/2009 15:46

Hi everyone

Heeby ? great news that your bub has moved head down. What are your thoughts regarding the VBAC? The increase in BHs could be a sign that things are likely to get going soon! What do BH feel like exactly? I ask because I have been having mild cramp like pains and my bump goes rock solid. I was wondering whether I could be having them or would it be too early? (I'm nearly 30 weeks now)

I hear you regarding the heat! I?ve been suffering from swollen feet and legs. I have resorted to piling up files at work so that I can put my feet up on them ? which helps a little bit.

Spats ? glad to hear you had a good holiday and managed to relax in the end. I?m also finding it a pain not being able to bend over. I have to get my DH to do up some of my shoes and have even asked if he will paint my toe nails for me as its my little brothers wedding this Saturday and there is no way I?m going to be able to reach my toes to paint them!

Smiley ? I?m very jealous that you have less than 4 weeks at work. I have a feeling that these last few weeks will drag. Wish I could take leave now.

Hi to everyone else ? hope you are all doing well.

xx

smileycat · 25/06/2009 16:57

Hi all had my physio today & she said I have movement in the right side of my pelvic, she has given me some excerises to do to strenghten the muscles around the ligaments so that they can take over. & a belt to lift up the bump for the days its gets bad. She said I'll have good days & bad days depending on where baby is lying & I might get it on both sides when the head locks in.
As long as it doesn't too much worse than it is now I guess I can cope with it.
I know what you mean Pez & Heeby about the heat I had really fat toes yesterday, its the first time they have swelled up but it was over 30 for us here & although I stayed out of the heat I guess it still got to me.
Heeby does that mean that you are due?? or are you hoping the babe comes a little early.
My midwife has some girlfriends out on holiday this week & one of them is a midwife in Portsmouth & she said she will take me on when we get back to UK, I'm so happy to have a number to call when I get back to UK & a friendly face to see as I'll only have 4 wks to go by then, she said she will book me in & show me around the new unit at QA as soon as I get home
Pezz BH can happen from quite early on so you are probably getting them now at 30 wks, it sounds like it from you have said. They say they shouldn't be painful but make your tummy go rock hard

spats · 25/06/2009 18:51

i am not sure if i had BH with the other 2 but my stomach does go rock hard, i am 28 weeks so maybe it is them. The top of my bumo always huts near the end of the day though like when you press a bruise, that knid of hurt though i can feel it without pressing my tummy. Mabe it is ther point where bubs is kicking me all the time??
It is hot but luckily i have not suffered from swollen feet today.

Heebychick · 25/06/2009 22:13

Hi ladies,

I never had BH with DD but this is def them, yes bump goes rock solid and it feels like trapped wind almost in the lowest part of my tummy, almost the same cramp pain you get with a bladder infection if that makes sense. It makes me take a breath and stop in my tracks almost. They have been on and off all day and they have been worse when i'm walking rather than sitting down.

My friend had them from 24 weeks onwards - but sadly she was 2 weeks late so no indication of an early baby there!

I'd be very pleased for an early one, i am packed and prepped and of course knowing it's a biggun it would be nice not to have it late!

So the plan now is, stick with the VBAC unless position changes that in the next 2 weeks and then if i go overdue i will have ELCS. So it's a plan, not sure if it will be simple but hey i'd still rather give it a go.

Heat is yuk huh - Smiley you must be suffering in 30 degrees!! ouch. So glad you have a MW when you come back, Portsmouth is close to me!
