Jools, i was almost 8 weeks when first got sickness symptoms. Mn is like a diary of everything you have done, i just looked back at what i was writing in the 1st trimester. You want to feel sick coz then you know something is growing but once it hits you you think oh bum!!! My friend is 9 weeks and she is going off food like i did, i feel so sorry for her as i am now more or less eating properly again. Not very happy at moment as my brother is emigrating to australia next week and taking my young niece and nephew. Not sure hwen will see him again, kids will porbably be grown up. Personally don't understand people who leave their family to emigrate. Feel like he doesn't care a bit about the rest of the family. So i am a bit down and depressed at the moment. Can't be bothered to do much, that include talking to DH who is being rather annoying at the moment!!! just want to sleep

iggypiggy · 20/04/2009 10:37

Hello - all just a brief post to say a quick hi to you all - feel bit like an interloper, so not going to stay!

But I hope you all doing well - that's nice re: kicks smiley

A small update from me is that I had the MC a week ago and am now having a good cheery day today - so am making the most of it.

Am hoping to be joining you all again at some point. In the meantime, hope you all cheerful and happy and healthy xxx

C1NDY · 20/04/2009 10:47

Joolsiam · 20/04/2009 10:54

Good to see you C1ndy Really glad you are feeling better

Thanks for the congrats Sparky and Nelix I think I'm getting my head round the idea I am now 5 weeks PG - boobs starting to get sore, low-level nausea in the mornings, raging insomnia etc etc. Have had a few wobbles thanks to that Clearblue test with the conception indicator giving me wierd results, but am keeping hopeful. Will be seeing GP tomorrow to "announce" this PG and beg for an early scan, so it will be official soon

The symptoms this time seem quite different - am hoping that is a good thing

smileycat · 20/04/2009 11:02

Just got back from my 20wk scan & everything is where it should be & growning as it should be and we are having a GIRL....I'm so happy one of each is just perfect

We were all watching the scan & when he went between her legs I spotted the 3 lines & asked him if it was 3 lines & he said yes. So I said does that mean what I think it means, in the meantime my DH was asking what what does that mean & the doc said yes its a girl. We are all so happy, a boy would have been just as lovely but if I had the choice I really would have wished for a little girl

WanabeMum · 20/04/2009 13:10

Hey everyone,

Nelix wow only 6 weeks! That's so scarey, i know i'm going to be terrified by the time i get there, although this is my first! Good luck and glad the move went well.

Smiley that's fantastic news, i'm so pleased you're getting a little girl so you have one of each

I had my down's screening test on Friday, just have to await the results. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time adn i almost cried, it was so amazing. Midwife said it was strong adn rhythmical so sounds very positive and today i felt my first flutters , well more like the little one was doing somersaults down there! I'm so excited and I'm definitely starting to think i want to know the sex . DH wants to know and starting to feel the same so who knows, in 3 weeks time i may know the sex of my baby!

The last few days have been weird though, been having pain in my hip/back on the right side when i bend over. It starts at the indentation in myack at the base of my spine and goes around into my hip. Has taken my breath away a few times and tends to get worse if i'm stood for long periods hoping it's not the start of SPD or something aweful like that Any ideas??

WanabeMum · 20/04/2009 13:14

Wow just read my last post and sorry about the spelling mistakes! that's what happens when i get excited and carried away!

Forgot to say i've now got a lovely little bump developing too so everyone is noticing I'm pregnant now. It's weird, you wait and wait for something to happen, a bump, flutters, and then for me it all comes at once!

Take care everyone xxxxx

smileycat · 20/04/2009 14:00

It could be the baby lying on a nerve, I had as one a few wks ago for about a wk, but it cleared up by itself, I guess when the baby moved up a bit it released the nerve, or it could be the dreaded SPD, if it lasts more than a wk I'd ask your midwife about it, I'm seeing mine again on Monday if you don't get any answers from yours by then & you still have the pain I can ask her on your behalf if you like, she is very aproachable

Heebychick · 20/04/2009 14:14

Hi all,

Lovely to hear from you cindy and iggy keep strong ladies and hope to see you every now and then.

wanabe i had the same pains and they reached my bottom and it got the point that i couldn't find any comfortable position and getting off the sofa was awful! sadly it is SPD, i hope yours isn't, but have seen physio and it has eased a fair bit now, it's all about controlling things i think. Plus they do lie in funny positions so could well be a nerve thing, i had allsorts with DD.

Am i right in thinking that we are all non-first time mums on this thread? Or wannabe is this your first?

Wonderful news about the pink flavour smiley i'm really pleased for you - it's a girly thread this one! Although i am the opposite as we have a DD ( a 2year old 'little miss bossy knickers') already so a little blue flavour would be lovely, but don't mind really.

My SIL finally had her baby this morning, she'd been in labour since Saturday! i won't scare you with the details but after a scary start all are fine and looking forward to getting home. It feels like all eyes will be on me next in the family ... she had a succesful VBAC so i shall be hoping to follow her lead!

xx

Joolsiam · 20/04/2009 14:17

I'm an ageing first-timer

spats · 20/04/2009 16:56

smiley that great news, glad you are getting what oyu wished for. Now tell me are you carrying this one differently to your DS. Is my theory that boys are all just a bump and with girls you carry weight all over true?? I keep winding my DH up by saying its another boy as i am just bump, no puffy arms or face or hips!! My scan is 2 weeks on Wed fo 21 weeks and still not sure whether to find out or not. DH wants to. I will um and arr for the next couple of weeks i think. I have a massive headache today and as the only thing which ever gets rid of a heaadache is nurofen plus i have to suffer (not in silence i may add ) May be due to the school rush being back again. But i have just booked a weeks hols for us in June (having to take DS out of school tutt tutt) to Yorkshire in a nice cottage with a pool so that is soemthing to look foward to. Praying for decent weather. Our trip to Cornwall last year was in the middle of that miserable summer weather. I will be about 29 weeks by then so not too fat to not join in with stuff. Well gotta go cook dinner - beef and horseradish casserole - i am starving, can't wait for it too cook!!

Pezzina · 20/04/2009 17:05

Hi guys

Great news on your scan news Smiley and good luck with your results Wannabe. It is wonderful when you hear the heartbeat for the first time.

I'm defintely feeling movement too now - really like it.

Heeby - I'm a first time mum.

I've got my next scan a week on Wednesday. We're not going to find out the sex - its going to be hard holding out though.

Pezzina · 20/04/2009 17:06

Spats can I come for dinner please - beef and horseradish casserole sounds great - YUM!

smileycat · 20/04/2009 18:17

Spats I thought that this might be a girl as its been a very different pg to my last one with ds. I suffered really bad headaches for the first 12wks with ds & only had one with this one, my niece had a girl first time round with no headaches & had really bad headaches this time around (she is due July) & I told her she was having a boy & she is. I havn't really put any extra weight on on my arms, face etc but I am carrying differently, my ds was all front & you couldn't tell I was pg from behind, this one has given me love handles already & I started showing by 4 months & didn't show till after 5 with ds.

Hope that helps with yours
We are so happy that we found out, it feels so real now, we have given her a name & can go out & buy the clothes in the right colour, plus an added bonus with my niece having a boy this time round I can have all her girly stuff for mine as she wont need it now & can except offers from people giving away any newish baby girl things

Heebychick · 21/04/2009 09:12

spats when i was carrying DD i was all bump - no weight anywhere else just a bowling ball out front, smae with my SIl who has just given birth to a bonny wee lass ... so not sure the outfront/all over theory works .... Holiday sounds lovely, lucky you. so do tell us if you decide to find out, be interesting to see what the result is, do you feel any different than last time?

pezz i'm with you girl, we didn't find out and it is hard esp as i am on a 'boy' week, each week it changes so in a way i'm glad i don't know! Mind you there are days i wish i had found out!

smiley i am a little like your family in that my SIL has just had her second baby - a girl - so i hope i have a boy as last time we had opposites, so it will be nice to swap this time! Will you tell us your chosen name for her?

I am off swimming at lunchtime, really trying hard to kick the habit of eating junk (i eat lots of good stuff too but on top of that i'm stuffing choc and biscuits) at the beginning of this pg my appetite was very different, i craved salty and savoury things and couldn't handle any sugary stuff at all - that's now changed tenfold! Mind you i'm going for a diabetes test on sunday so that might show up why i'm craving so much sugar, not sure what the symptoms are - except a big baby - don't want another one of those!

so glad we have some first timers, it's so exciting for everyone obviously but lovely to have a mixture, it helps with the support i think.

smileycat · 21/04/2009 10:40

Heeby we are calling her Katie
Its a name we have always both really liked but I'm just worried that it might be a bit too popular now with Katie Homes & Will's Katie to name but a few, but what the hey we like it

I do have a small problem though, my good old MIL has asked us to give her two middle names Mary for my mum & Ann for her (her 1st name is Shelia but she knows I wouldn't consider that, Ann is her middle name) but I'm not sure, I think it sounds a bit old...what do you think??
We gave my ds a middle name Michael after my FIL but this was so that he carried on the family name as he is the only boy with the family surname so far to carry it on & I think she feels a little left out & assumes that we will do the same for her....what do I do
I was toying with the middle name Rebecca myself

Joolsiam · 21/04/2009 10:46

Smiley - how about combining them to make Marianne ? - a compromise perhaps ...

Well, I'm official now - GP has referred me to the local community midwife and put in a request for a scan when I'm 7 - 8 wks, so 2 weeks time. She did say it might get refused, but wrote up quite a lot in my notes about post MC trauma / anxiety etc when I broke down and blubbed when talking about last time

Heebychick · 21/04/2009 11:22

Names are a nightmare, we are struggling and my SIL still hasn't named her little girl yet and she is 2 days old. Her DH asked if they could name her after his mum - Valerie, now nothing against the name but for a baby???!!

jools lovely lovely news - so pleased for you, i have a good feeling for you this time honey xx

nelix2000 · 22/04/2009 08:50

Good morning everyone!!!
jools thats fab news

We have a list of girls names, one in particular, but are not really saying it aloud as someone my partner knows actually had two children by the same names as we have(picked before I knew the story) and one of her children died(sad) so it sounds silly but we don't want to call her the name officially just in case...how daft is that???

5 weeks today tho!!!!! max....no longer than that left hoorah!!!! thank god as I am ready to explode at 35 weeks....she moves SO much! I saw the midwife on friday and she said "oh my she is going to be big"....oh lucky me!!! DS was 8.1pounds, but was so long he looked skinny. Most babies in our family are at least 8 pounds....ow ow ow. Though I am at that stage where I want her out so am willing to do the pain part.

I cannot sleep as can't get comfortable and her head is down on my bladder 24/7, heartburn is awful...but wow I still love it. I complain to DP daily who does all she can to make my life easy...bless her...really, total saint through mood swings, nesting etc...spoils me daily despite working loads, moving house etc.

Wow I had a rant, sorry!

Heebychick · 22/04/2009 11:07

jools lots and lots of sticky vibes and hugs coming your way, do let us know how you are doing.

nelix your DP sounds amazing, how lucky are you?!! Joys of having a female partner eh! My DH is getting better, he is quite good at bossing me around - which i guess is the same as caring for me but in a slightly different way?!! I hope the next 5 weeks goes so quickly for you, i am starting to feel fed up but have ages to go! Mind you, like you say i am so happy that i am blessed with a little bub.

lots of love to everyone xx

funtimewincies · 22/04/2009 18:56

Just popping in to try and catch up on the gossip. Can't believe that you're nearly there Nelix. Very selfish of me, but I so glad that I got pg again before you dropped, I'd have been very glum otherwise seeing as how we started out at the same time !

The name thing drove DH and I mad when we had ds. We didn't know the sex (and don't plan to this time) so had to have both ready. We finally decided on ds' name (which I still love so a good choice) on the slip road off the road to the hospital 2 WEEKS OVERDUE .

smileycat · 22/04/2009 19:49

Jools also sending sticky vibes your way, I hope its just the bean settling for you

The girl who lives down stairs from me went into labour at 12 oclock today, had her daughter by 4 & was back home by 6. She was 8.3 and 11 days overdue. God I hope mine goes as well as hers

Good luck Nelix only another couple of wks to go & you will be on tender hooks waiting for those tale tail signs that she is on her way

Heebychick · 22/04/2009 20:03

My god! smiley that's amazing!! Wow. Lets hope we can all have such an easy one eh.

I'm feeling fed up today, feel very bloated and gassy (nice) and generally huge, and i have ages to go!!

jools how are you honey?

funtime that's so funny about DS's name, mind you my SIL only named hers yesterday and it was born sunday night!
