Morning everyone, didnt get chance to catch up last night and missed the baby news!!!!

Congratulations CoolKat and love the name (am biased as Rebecca is DD's name )

Good luck Browny and Dozy for today, exciting that 2 more babies arriving today!!!!

Saw MW yesterday and all fine, baby has started to engage but not fully yet, but I know they dont usually with 2nd ones anyway! Seeing her again next wed but will be 40+4 by then so hope that I dont make it to that appt she says they dont do a sweep until I reach 41 weeks but hope I can convince her to do this next wed if nothing has happened before then!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 30/10/2008 08:00

ooh, you were up early MM. I hope you're safely tucked up in ben sleepng now.

I had my usual twice awake for a loo break, but that was it last night. I still feel really tired though, so onviously I'm not sleeping that well when I'm in there.

No twinges or anything in the night though. Looks like Virgil has decided to stay put for a wee while longer.

This pregnancy is like a mini version of my age........39 has come round way too quickly, and I'll be very sad to hit 40

LackaDAISYcal · 30/10/2008 08:19

Hi tegan...sounds promising?

How many weeks are you? Is the MW cutting it a bit fine with the home birth kit.

And, I'm coming down with the cold as well.....my nose feels like I've eaten too much ice-cream and my throat feels like sandpaper. Maybe virgil is being thoughtful and waiting until I'm feeling better?

DAISY, RESULT, see my other thread.

tegan · 30/10/2008 09:23

I am 36+4 wks. mw was supposed to deliver kit this week but is on holiday so is coming next wednesday instead. I've never had a homebirth so am a little new to all this and realised last night that i don't even know who to call if it all starts.

Oblomov · 30/10/2008 09:25

Dozy, good luck. wishing you all the very best. Hope it goes smoothly.
Goodluck Browny.

cricri · 30/10/2008 09:41

Congratulations Coolkat and welcome Rebecca Mae What a lovely name. Hope the infection is only minor and you'll be home very soon.
Good luck for today Browny Can't believe how many babies are suddenly arriving!
Obs So pleased you've got an appointment for tongue snipping.
MM Sorry to hear you were suffering from insomnia last night. I actually slept pretty well so feel human again. The cat is still insisting on sleeping right up against me during the night so don't know what all that is about Hopefully it means that he can sense baby coming soon!
Off to visit a friend from NCT this afternoon and her newborn so I'll be cuddling him. Apparently that's also meant to be good for encouraging baby's arrival. Releases oxytocin I guess.
Hope everybody else is OK and that things start happening soon for those with twinges!

chocolategal · 30/10/2008 09:43

Tegan They won't usually deliver your baby at home before 38 weeks anyway, so plenty of time for the home birth kit to arrive. Mine came in two rucksacks, one has the gas and air cannisters, the other has all the medical bits and bobs, pads, etc. Also, I was given a list of different names for each day (night and day shifts included) with the phone number for the midwife on duty, so don't worry, all will be explained and will become clear when you get the kit.

Heartmum2Jamie · 30/10/2008 09:51

Teagan, I am also having a homebirth and was told to just ring the hospital delivery suite as that is where all the community midwives are based and they will get in touch with the on call midwife. However, it was expressed very adamently that if I went into labour BEFORE 37 weeks I would have to go to hospital, so I hope your baby keeps cooking for another 3 days at least, lol! I hoped that for myself and now here I am at 40+1

Dozy & Browny, best of luck!!

Coolcat, congratulations!!!

Still no signs here even though I had a fair bit of back ache yesterday. It felt like the baby was desperately trying to kick me in the kidneys, lol! Oh well, not a bad sign that baby stay put as the central heating is completely bust so have no heat or water. It isn't cold in the house as we have a couple of wall mounted gas heaters and 3 portable heaters, so just take them from room to room. The water is a bit more of a problem, but the shower is electric, so still works. I worked out that both my other boys were born 19 days the full moon in their respective birth months/years, so if this baby follws suit, he will arrive some time on Sunday, lol!

Oblomov · 30/10/2008 09:58

Heart2mum, this sounds like a nightmare. How are you going to have a home biurth, with no central heating or hot water. Have you got it all arranged to be fixed yet ? What a total nightmare.

Heartmum2Jamie · 30/10/2008 10:10

I haven't told the midwives, lol! We can boil kettles or use the water from the shower which is hot and we have no problems with warming the house adequately. I am still hoping it will be fixed by the weekend. It sounds like something as simple as a valve is stuck. If I could manually refill the system, I could repressurise it and get the boiler working again.

Hi all,

YAY COOLkAT! A little coolkitten called Rebecca Mae - well done, you!

We really should have called this the October/November thread!

Good luck to Dozy and Browny - hope all goes smoothly and can't wait to hear about your babies as well.

Heartmum you poor bugger with the boiler - mine is about 100 years old and powered my the mice from Bagpuss and I have NO working gas fires either, so I have my fingers crossed for all of us with Dickensian heating in this crappy weather. You must be bloody freezing - I hope your homebirth still goes ahead as planned and you don't have to break the ice on the birthing pool.

The score so far this morning:

shags - 1
Huge bloody eye-openingly painful contractions - 2 (1 at 6:30 ish, 1 at 8:30, both lasting about 2 mins, 1 before and 1 after shag, TMI, I know)
shows - nil
waters breaking - nada
conversations with midwife trying to describe weird spaced-out feeling while feeling weird and spaced out and shaky from big contraction - 1
level of midwife scepticism about me actually having SPD and not being able to come and see her so needing a home monitoring visit - high (maybe she thinks I just don't want to go out in the sleet )
embarassment factor about this - v high

So, I am not in labour BUT I feel like I'm heading slowly to the top of the rollercoaster... Here's hoping, anyway.

Got to go, need to make house look less squalid in case a midwife actually does turn up.

None, but just had another painful contraction and feel all shaky and a bit weepy (cos I am a massive wuss).

I got halfway through my cup of tea before that contraction started, does that count?

Pinkali37 · 30/10/2008 10:57

Sauraus Oh poor you. Let us know what happens. Hoepfully someone who knows what they are talking about on here will be able to help you. HUGS x

Coolcat YIPPEE, congratulations on the birth of Rebecca Mai. Can't wait to see photos. So how long was the labour - anyone?

QUESTION: TMI ALERT This morning i had some well clearish jelly like stuff come out. Not a big blog but enough to make me go What is this?????

MummyNic · 30/10/2008 11:02

Morning everyone. I havent really caught up I'm afraid but hello Obs, good to have you back.

I have been feeling a bit down since Monday's escapade at crossing the road, haven't taken dog out since which makes me feel bad so I will today. I finally picked up a Tens machine yesterday (it was always quite low on the 'things to do' list).

I went to my last antenatal class yesterday and I'm not sure about having the sweep today. I have convinced myself that cyril is too high up for them to do it . Anyway, I am booked in at 6pm for the sweep, I'll go along but I fear I may chicken out. It was talk of potentially lots of bleeding afterwards that put me off. DH wants to wait for induction next Wed and I'm tempted to agree....

Talking of DH, bless him, he trimmed my foo foo yesterday with hair clippers so at least I'm looking nore respectable 'down there'.

Sorry for the me me me post, I'll try and read a bit more later but I need to clean the bathroom and kitchen this afternoon... Just in case I'm brave enough to have the sweep.

ruthosaurus · 30/10/2008 11:04

Pinkali I think that's a show, matey - wheeee! Looks like things are starting to happen for you as well, although maybe could be a while yet. I have been having bits of this for a few weeks and my MW says it can come either as 1 big lump or in bits. Nice.

Feeling a bit better and am off to drink a pint of orange juice and wash up last night's tea things.

chocolategal · 30/10/2008 11:04

rutho lets hope the mw does make an appearance so you know what your dealing with!
hana cant believe you are still working, i am in awe!!!
are you still working too pinkali?
