Pinkali I don't like idea of induction either, but would urge you just to relax about it all as getting tense about it will only be likely to hinder things. Most babies, esp first time babies, DON'T come on their due dates after all. However they won't be waiting for you with a drip and tub of gel the next day. It may not come to that so I wouldn't think about it just now, there is plenty of time for things to get started naturally yet.

Sorry if that was unwanted advice but you just sound so much like I did during first PG that it strikes a chord!

I also swear by Fybogel!

Oblomov · 29/10/2008 11:31

daisy, posted thread. can't type . bf ds2. can you post on it for me please.

Tinkerisdead · 29/10/2008 11:51

yep, i'll wait until midwife brings helios kit on monday and then work out how much i wanna take etc... lacks mine has gone really quiet since the leak but i can feel it practicing breathing if i lie on my side and press against it down in my pelvis. midwife says its cos there is far less room. im not getting any kicks etc despite prodding but i do get a bum changing sides sliding by IYKWIM.

I am very, very very excited about tomorrow but also bricking it - I took Hanaflower advice and got some Mimulus which does seemed to hhave helped with the anxiety. Incidentally, where is Hana? Either we haven't been posting at the same time, or it has gone very, very quiet.....Just had a lovely, lovely text of MErrymari - she is such a trooper and a real star!!!

Why did everyone get snow and we didn't in London .

LackaDAISYcal · 29/10/2008 12:29

Pinkali, it might be piles? or if the bagy's head is right down I would imagine a big poo would hurt as it eased it's way past!

lol, if I ever meet any of you in RL I will be cringing, the things we know about each others' bodily functions

Good news on the strep B Rosa and yay for garlic

missed that coolkat is in labour. please expand.
and what is the latest on merrym, dozy ? her son is better, yes ? what is the situation please.

can someone give me a summary of where everyone is.... as it were ......

Pinkali37 · 29/10/2008 12:42

Lacks that is exactly what my siste just said to me but it isn't when i'm in the progress of (that doesn't hurt) it is when the urge comes. Doing my pelvic floor muscle thingy can of brings it to my attention it is muscular rather than pile like. Oh it's all so confusing.

Sparkles NOPE you're right. baby will come when s/he is ready and not before. Mental note to ones self "CALM DOWN I'VE MADE IT NEARLY 10 MONTHS WHAT'S 3 WEEKS?"

Thank you xxxx

LackaDAISYcal · 29/10/2008 12:58

Obs, I've posted on your thread for you; I hope I've got all the samlient points in. foxytocin has linked some stuff about latch and tongue tie for you, but I'd suggest you call the NCT and see if you can get someone out to help.

Coolkat had a bit of a show last night, had pains, went to bed, reassured her DH things were fine and sent him off to work, then had to call him home (in his fire engine ) she was getting contractions at about five minute intervals when she posted about 9 this morning and i think they were on their way in to the hospital.

MerryM is home I think, DS is fine now, and they have settled on Jude and Mirissa for first names.

Pinky is home too according to FB, but she hasn't been on yet.

It's been a busy old week

virgil is moving around now, not as much as usual

Pinkali, it could be the ligaments as if the baby has dropped even further then the strain on them will change. I;ve had problems with one particular ligament (or muscle ?) which comes from my hip around to the middle of my tum for ages, but it has stepped up a gear now things are hanging a bit lower as I think there is more strain on it. Mention it to your MW when you next see her, or give her a call if you are worried

Gah, why do children want feeding all the time.....seems like no time since breakfast and DS is whinging about being hungry AGAIN!!

and try and keep focussed that pregnancy is between 37 and 43 weeks for most people PinkAli, but that most people give brith between 38 and 42 weeks.

Advice from the MN doulas is to do something nice that's just for you for every day that you go over. And appreciate the P&Q and the cahnce to get your feet up while it lasts

Pinkali37 · 29/10/2008 13:13

I think you're great LACKS... thank you for your help. I know i suppose i'm impatient! However saving grace is Lincoln hospital won't let you go over 10 days past due date.. think that is a saving grace.

LackaDAISYcal · 29/10/2008 13:26

Just remember that they can't force you to be induced if you don't want to be. NICE guidelines say that it should be offered is all. Lots of women choose to wait for labour to start on its own rather than be induced and opt for expectant management (ie monitoring baby, liqour volume, placental function). One of the women on my June 07 thread went to 19 days over before she went into labour.

OMG I have just had the worst waxing experience of my life, Had my eyebrows done no problems at all with them. looking less yeti like for ost birth photos. Went for the bikini line and there was a problem with either the wax or the strips cause it would not budge, my lovely and very apologetic beautician had to do it THREE times ouch ouch ouch. I am actually bleeding now and it is very vey painful. I am off for a bath to try ad remove the last traces which eep sticking to my nicks and making it all so much worse!
Sorry for me post but I cannot believe how much this hurts!

LackaDAISYcal · 29/10/2008 13:57

I think things can be a bit more tender down there in pregnancy ladybuzz.

All this preening that's being done! My fanny alopaecia aside, I don't really care what state it's in when I'm giving birth; I doubt anyone will be paying much attention to how ungroomed I am....and if they are, well....questions will be asked

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 29/10/2008 14:03

I wasn't tht bothered but suffered from shaving rash last time and din't want it again. I was just going to get the top inch done cause its not that bad usually but decided to go the whole hog - I wish I hadn't bothered
It hurt much more then usual although did remind me why I stopped having it waxed in the first place!!

LolaBella · 29/10/2008 14:18

Just been out for lunch with a friend and a couple of people noticed bump and enquired 'oohh when are you due?' Their faces were a picture when i said 'today!' to which they replied 'why are you out of the house?' . Obviously didn't realise i'm not allowed to leave house anymore.

Ladybuzz have to say that sound very painful. I'm a wax virgin i'm afraid and could not face the prospect of my bikini line being touched. I'm trying to maintain my own ladygarden but proving more and more difficult

Welcome back to Obs and lovely name too

LackaDAISYcal · 29/10/2008 14:23

lol lola; I think people forget that babies don't come exactly to schedule. I've been a bit vague when asked my due date and have always said the beginning of November rather than No 6th. People get so hung up on the fixed date. It's getting more difficult to be vague now though.

I hope you had a nice lunch.

My friend is coming over this evening and bringing curry with her; I hope it's a hot one

Heartmum2Jamie · 29/10/2008 14:28

Obs, welcome home and welcome Max!! He's absolutely gorgeous!

Well, I have just forced a ton of red grapes down my throat. Maybe this will get my bowels started, which in turn may set off my uterus, lol! I suppose I should jump in the bath and shave legs and tidy up ect. I have been reading about Caulophyllum with interest, but am not really sure where I could try and get it from around here. I am guessing holland & barret wouldn't have it.

40 week bump pic is on my profile, I actually look higher this week than last week which is a real blow

LackaDAISYcal · 29/10/2008 14:38

I don't think it looks higher as such heartmum, but it's definately more sticky out.

I should take some pics of mine as I haven't since 18 weeksish, but I still haven't found the leads for my camera to upload anything. I'll be running out of memory card for my camera at this rate!

no twinges or anything then?

I've just tried the EP oil again.......not sure how much is too much though, or to go on the premise that if it isn't working, then it doesn't matter how much goes up there

OP posts:
Heartmum2Jamie · 29/10/2008 14:59

No twinges at all! I am going to do the EPO again as well, orally as well as up the min-min! I suppose 1000mg orally and 1000mg shoved where the sun don't shine is probably a decent amount.

MonkeyMargot · 29/10/2008 15:01

Welcome back Obs!! Baby Max is absolutely gorgeous. I really hope you get the tongue-tiedness sorted out quickly - I'm sure now Lacks is on the case you will do. Great to see you posting. Ready for Scrabble yet? .
Hello to Sunshine/Beam! Coolkat - fantastic that you are actually in labour!! Another baby soon!
In fact, another baby tomorrow Dozy!! Glad you're feeling calmer - I really hope all goes brilliantly for you tomorrow. Lots of luck!!
Hello to everyone else - it's taken me so long to catch up on thread...
LadyB OUCH at your was . I had a wax today (Brazilian of course!!) and the lady asked how long was it since I'd had it done, she guessed 4 months - it's only 2 . She then backtracked by saying she'd heard that pregnancy makes ones hair grow quicker....
I've also booked a pregnancy massage for tomorrow. Hoping this might get things moving. I'm 39 weeks today, and getting grumpy that I might go overdue. Not sure why, but just feeling like a real grumpster. Poor DH. I've had continual stomach cramps etc for past 10 days since starting RLT. It's annoying me, as it's painful and now I'm not sure if I will be able to detect labour starting or not.
Rutho hope you're not too shattered petal. I was also up at 4am as the real MM needed to pee (or at least bark at animal intruders in garden). But finally got off again for an hour or so thankfully.
On the bright side, I have baked some delicious scones, and the Blind man (man who fits blinds - has 20/20 vision as far as I'm aware) has fitted black-out blind in nursery. Yay!
P.S. Thanks Lacks for detailed explanation of stovies. Always wondered what those were!!
P.P.S. Grumpiness might also be related to everyone else improving at Scrabble and beating me....grr. This is the grumpy monkey....watch out!

Oblomov · 29/10/2008 15:08

Thank you kindly for all the lovly comments, ladies.
It is good to be back.
LadyBuzz, that wax sounds So painful.
How exciting about the fire engine, with coolkat. am picturing it now. making me laugh. we await news.
heart2mum, love your picture, at 40 weeks.
I didn't tkae any photos in the last few weeks. wish i had now. but to be fair, I did only get to 36.
my stomach has gone down alot already. dh said, he loved, his "new slim wife" and it had all dropped form my face aswell. he says the sweetist things. But don't worry ladies, I still have an awful long way to go before I'll be back in my skiny jeans. Correction, oblomov NEVER did get in a pair of skinny jeans. ha ha.

chocolategal · 29/10/2008 15:17

chocolategal · 29/10/2008 15:21
