Yorky have a great day with your mum and thanks for making me smile! What's the hammock for, btw?

LadyBuzz · 27/10/2008 09:46

Morning, Just had a call from the hospital and I am now going in on Monday 3rd instead of Tuesday - Yay 1 less day!
Sorry to hear people are in a lot of pain - we need some of these babies out now to give the poor suffering mums a break!

Morning all...no 2am contraction
woke up, no trickling waters, no pains..nothing. midwife is coming at 2pm and i think i'll decline GBS testing, dont want anything going up there!
coolkat i cant believe your sis and asking you to feed in the toilet. i think if that was be i would expose myself fully at the table and feed away!
ladybuzz i still have your book to send, im sorry, been a bit manic and all over the place this last week.
thanks for all the advice yesterday, i reckon mine isnt coming until at least the 14th due date now. I def dont want induction so i'll ask to be monitored more i think.

LadyBuzz · 27/10/2008 10:22

Drswife No worries I have a couple to get through anyway and will prob hve my hands full from next week.
Dozy I know the hospital would probably have issues if you were having a general ut as it is a spinal it will prob be OK. Fingers crossed it doesn't turn into anything bad anyway!
Hana I'm still on the Gaviscon with you, the manufcturers are going to get a big shock when these babies have been born, their profits will plummet

ruthosaurus · 27/10/2008 10:22

Hana, if you have the aniseed Gaviscon you have my sympathies - I don't know which is worse, heartburn or the aftertaste.

Hi LadyB that's so exciting! That's, like, a WEEK from now! Are you all packed up and organised?

Drswife, do you also keep going from "OMG it's due any day now" to "Sod it, I'll still be pregnant by Xmas and end up in the guinness book of records"?

Rosa OW for your hands. Sounds awful and hope they feel better soon.

Tinkerisdead · 27/10/2008 10:32

Ruth i was visited by my second midwife last week, she took one look at me and said, i think its a girl, 7lb 2oz and its coming on the second nov. not due til 14th so i though whopppeeeeee, i'll take that bet. yesterday i actually believed it could happen. now today its stuck firmly up my jumper still. you are right, i will be pregnant on my 30th birthday in january im sure!

ruthosaurus · 27/10/2008 10:43

DW I have been telling DH for the last 2 days that I reckon it will be this week but I bet I'm wrong now I've said that. I've been having a premonition it will come at 38 weeks or thereabouts but I think that's because I'm not ready yet .

Your midwife is one spooky lady, though. She didn't get this from reading your palm or anything? I want a midwife that says things like that! Some certainty, even if it was rubbish, would be great right now...

Hana, beleive me, it wasn't my choice. I have little moments with heartburn in the night where I sit on the edge of the bed holding the bottle and weighing up the pros and cons of actually drinking the stuff!

I bet this baby is a 10lber - I've just logged into Babycentre and have realised that the smiley blonde woman on the home page now looks small - a few months ago I was thinking "Jeez, I hope I don't get that big". It's like when policemen and doctors are suddenly your age or younger...

LadyBuzz · 27/10/2008 10:49

Rutho yes all packed and ready just need to clean the house at the weekend put the moses basket in our room and fit the car seat (if I can remeber how to ).
DS is soooo excited.
My MW predicted last week that my baby would never come itself and had a big wide head so TF for a CS

Tinkerisdead · 27/10/2008 10:50

This was the second midwife, my main midwife always refuses to play the guessing game, she says she's crap at it. this one came to meet me before D-day. So its not some stranger strolling in. She did all the palpations and stood up, stared at me and came out with her predicition! on her way out she said, i know i said 7lb 2oz but i may change to 7lb 8oz but i'll stick to 2 for now!!! prob is, i still have no girls names!!!!!

your right ruth it could be rubbish but its so nice for someone to just make a big guess. im hanging on it! plus if it comes on the 2nd, i could watch the charity fireworks from my house in the birth pool and miss a crappy wedding that i have to attend. it would be heavenly!

LadyBuzz · 27/10/2008 10:58

Drswife it will be very interesting to see how close she is on all accounts!
I was convinced DS would be 2 weeks early, quite small as me and DH are and also a girl.
He was 16 days late big and a boy so I really am crap . Some people just get it bang on and have the knack!
Most people told me last time it was a boy and were right, Most people have said boy again this time!
I'm most interested in its hair colour!

Tinkerisdead · 27/10/2008 11:01

me too, i wanna know what colour its eyes will be as mine are green and dh brown but we both have a blue eyed parent. i know its eyes will be blue initially but dying to know what colour they will be, what colour hair, gender. i think girl, dh thinks boy!

i know it will be short! thats all.

ruthosaurus · 27/10/2008 11:14

I have to say I do want a baby with lots of hair, not that I'll be disappointed with a bald baby, but I just think they look so funny with a big shock of hair. My sister looked like a baby monkey for months and months (she is now v glamorous so you never can tell). I heard that heartburn means a hairy baby - is this just more BS or actually true, I wonder?

DW, love the crappy wedding and know what exactly you mean. Mm, firework and new baby or sore ankles and dodgy canapes? Tough choice.

Have just bumped into my Iranian next-door neighbour in the shared yard. She is v sweet and has a daughter who will be 1 in a week or so, one of last year's November batch! Neighbour has limited English so we have conversations like "Soon now - boom!" and "Baby nearly ready, lots of ow?". It's ace.

LadyBuzz · 27/10/2008 11:27

Rutho I had very bad heatburn last time too and DS was very hairy, he still is TBH he has a furry back like a little monkey! Maybe just a coincidence!
I had loads of jet black hair when I was born and it stood perfectly straight on end then fell out and has been blonde and curly ever since.

ruthosaurus · 27/10/2008 11:30

I'm not surprised your hair was standing on end - I bet birth comes as quite a shock to babies! That's why they all look so surprised for a while afterwards...

My DH is very hairy (sorry if anyone's eating) so I expect Baby Saurus will actually turn out to be a monkey baby and not a scaly saurus at all. And I'm ginger, so the poor little thing will most likely look like an orang utan. Bless it.

LadyBuzz · 27/10/2008 11:32

My DS is ginger, his hair is gorgeous its a dark coppery red - until he gets in the sun and then he is very ginger. But so beautiful with it biased mummy alert!

ruthosaurus · 27/10/2008 11:37

One of my mates has a little boy with amazingly fine flame-red hair - I am v jealous as I am just mousy ginger these days and freckles (I have to henna my hair to look MORE red-headed). It's really funny as well because his dad always used to tease me about the likelihood of me having ginger children. Karma...

MummyNic · 27/10/2008 11:41

Morning everyone. Just catching up and motivating myself to change the sheets (including spare room as DH is being badly affected by my snoring, drooling and moving around) and dust the bedrooms - might even clean the windows.

I recon it'll take an hour so I'll be back later - although the kitchen needs a good going over too but I might save that for later. SPD plays up so much if I do more than an hour on my feet.

CTG on baby tomorrow - consultant said that baby's heart isn't as lively as he'd like - probably due to my blood pressure tablets so I must remember NOT to take it tomorrow morning so we can see how the baby's heart is without my own medictaion interferring. Sweep on Thursday!!!

Yorky · 27/10/2008 12:01

Think I'm packed now, even rememebred Dad's birthday present! House looks like a chinese laundry. Drop swab off at med centre, collect DS and hit the motorway.
My brother is ginger and his son is getting brighter haired I think. Would love a midwife who makes predictions, mine wasn't even going with the fast heartbeat=girl theory (or is it the other way round!)
Saurus - the hammock is baby's bed, check out Amby, DS loved it
lacka - I have 2 books for you as you'll have so much time to read in half term! One is definitely right, the other I hope is!

Pinkali37 · 27/10/2008 12:13

Morning All,

Wow what an eventful weekend for some!! Dr's Wife......

You're due the same day as me so I am that you could meet your baby very shortly! Touch wood you will be able to have the birth you would like and have planned for.

HM2J It was me that mentioned the show and the squatting. Was talking to my mum this morning and she said with my sister she didn't have a show or her waters break.

Vbab I am so sorry about your DH. Big Hugs go out to you!!!

MIssygoo OOh at your babys weight. So long as they keep an eye on you I am sure s/he will be fine. I suppose it is one of those difficult things, is the baby better off inside you (no if placenta not working properly) or out where TLC can help it grow to be a big strong baby.

Lacks Primrose Oil.. really... you put it up your minnie? YIKES....

LackaDAISYcal · 27/10/2008 12:13

Helloo all

seen my new consultant this morning and it was a very positive meeting. We have talked about monitoring and she said that although they are recommeniding CFM as it's trust policy, if I don't want it then they will be happy to do intermittent monitoring at 10-15minute intervals. We discussed how long I would be prepared to go post dates before having a section and she said don't make an appointment now; lets worry about it if we have to, and she was also wary about booking me in for a post dates appointment and said I should do that as and when as well. She had no objection to trying a stretch and sweep, but doubted that my CMW would be prepared to do it due to me being high risk. It also increases risk of infection so I think I won't even bother with that.

Feel very positive about the fact that although I'm considered high risk I'm being given every opportunity to be relaxed about it all and let things happen naturally. she is going to get in touch with her head of midwivery to do a care plan which will be in my notes so that when I chip in at 3 in the morning, there'll be no arguments with the labour ward about what has and hasn't been discussed.

So, we are good to go here now.....and baby is 4/5ths engaged, and the MW couldn't move his head at all which would explain why my pelvic pains are back again.

BRING IT ON

she did talk about the risks to me and the baby of scar rupture and tried to scare the bejesus out of me, but that risk is still only 5 in 1000.......pretty low odds I think.

sorry, tis all me me me. am off to catch up now.

pinkali i dont think mines coming as soon as i hoped. im sure you'll beat me to it xx
i was gonna put the evening primrose up there but took it orally first, then i had this leaky waters 12 hours later!! my midwife uses the capsule oil when she does a sweep, although she wont do a sweep on me yet.

reckon lacks is gonna see hers before be, 4/5ths engaged ooohhhhh.

ive been cleaning the house like mad, i dont think its nesting, more like trying to keep as busy as possible. every time i go to the loo, i wish i was one of these women who look into the pan and a baby is there! wouldnt that be brilliant!

so, i'll keep cleaning the loo and hope for a miracle!

LackaDAISYcal · 27/10/2008 12:24

I think I might try taking the capsules orally ans see what happens.

Have you stopped leaking DW?
