Well I just can't imagine myself with a boy - have always wanted a girl DP wants a boy though

I'm sure I will adore the baby - boy or girl, but I can't picture a boy at the mo.

If the stories on timing are right, it will be a boy - don't they say BD a few days before OV for a girl and the day before for a boy ? I am pretty sure it was the BD the day of OV that worked for us, so will not be surprised if a boy arrives.

Momino - I'm in the office but have spent more time on MN than work

EDD is 1 May but just a guess at my last period so will know more tomorrow after scan. I hope not earlier - i want to stay with you guys!

ebay is getting dangerous for me at the moment. I just bought dd2 a gap denim skirt for £5 including postage. i wanted to pay no more than £3 but got outbid and suddenly I had to have that skirt for little Saskia. so i paid a coupla quid more. that's where it gets dangerous. though it is much better than paying full price. got a pair of clarks leather boots for DD1 for £5 including postage which i think is good and she needs them.

that's why I have to have a boy this time so i don't buy clothes all the time. I know we'd have to buy anew as no handmedowns but longrun, i wouldn't buy as much for a boy.

SweetB, i wouldn't admit to friends/family, but i would love a boy. I've always wanted a boy - got lovely DDs instead but deep down want a boy.

Momino · 22/10/2008 12:10

Jools, if that is true about timing, we're defn having another girl. I would be surprised anyway if it is a boy. But, there's still a tiny bit of hope.

FiKelly · 22/10/2008 12:17

I've been having a clear out... selling stuff on ebay and then treating myself to some new bits

FiKelly · 22/10/2008 12:21

apparently boy sperm is faster at the swimming but girl sperm last longer in the body. So the idea is you have a better chance of a boy if you have sex as close to ovulation as pos and a better chance of a girl if you have sex a few days before only... giving the boys time to disappear?! All very difficult to time though lol!

Momino · 22/10/2008 12:30

would love to sell stuff on ebay but don't think i've got extra energy for admin and packaging time. I need any extra time to be on MN.

SweetBROODY · 22/10/2008 12:50

I think I feel more sick when I am constipated :S that is soooo embarressing...

Any one else in the same boat? I have always really wanted alittle boy.. And I hope I get one! I'm always praying will obviously love a little girl as well.. Hubby is convinced its a girl :s I wish people would stop guessing - It hink i'll just ask to find out at the scan at least then iw ill be prepared whatever it is! :D

FiKelly · 22/10/2008 13:55

Gah i'm having a really bad ms day. I was hoping it'd be a bit better for having some lunch... no luck though.

Poor DS is bored... finding it v hard to keep him occupied as he's of full of beans. Our lounge is strewn with toys at the moment and got to somehow summon up the energy to clear this mornings stuff away and get some fresh toys through.

Selling stuff on ebay was a necessity. We came off the market as we'd had no viewings since nov last year and did't think it'd pick up for a while yet. So instead we recently swapped DS bedroom in our apt with what used to be our dining room as it was a much bigger room... room enough for 2. This meant a lot of clearing out of stuff as there just wasn't the storage space in our new intimate dining room. I gave some away... but thought some might generate a bit of cash and gave ebay a go. Never done ebay before but it's gone quite well, some things sold & some not but still a help with any expenses of #2 etc.

I've still more to photograph and write listing for but can't face it today...

Momino · 22/10/2008 14:10

can relate to the MS but i'm not doing myself any favours. just had a fish pie (pastry so not healty) which is sitting at the bottom of my stomach like a brick.

am really interested in selling on ebay but when I have the time .

flippineck · 22/10/2008 14:31

Wow, what a lovely shiny new - and very busy! - thread. Hello to all the new people.

Just wanted to say thanks all for trying to ressure me and soothe my irrational fears. Still worried of course, but feeling a bit better now - I had my booking in appt this morning with the midwife, she was lovely and very reassuring, especially about the crampy backache - she said that quite often the early pains are worse in second/subsequent pregnancies. The annoying thing though about the mw is that she's leaving the community team and going back to the hospital next month so I won't see her again. Hope her replacement is as nice as she is.

MsG · 22/10/2008 14:58

Hi all - I've only just found this new thread - kept wondering why there had been nothing on the other thread for a few days - d'oh!!!

I think you can drink no more than 300 mg of caffeine - I'm quoting from babycentre.co.uk here - "Guidelines issued by the Food Standards Agency, the Department of Health and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recommend that women have no more than 300mg of caffeine a day while pregnant. This is equivalent to three mugs of instant coffee or six cups of tea or eight cans of cola per day."

Why haven't I gone off coffee?! I tend to stick to decaff but I haven't gone off the taste of it, which is odd, isn't it? I'm trying not to panic over everything though.

My sickness comes on worse in the evenings - I'm working a lot of late shifts at the moment too so it's annoying!

I don't think I'll check out the names threads! I think DH and I will have enough trouble picking names we like - I don't think I want any other opinions especially as I know I can be over-sensitive!

Not buying any clothes either until my scan - just over 2 weeks!! I had to buy 2 new bras though. As I'm overweight anyway, most of my clothes are a bit loose fitting so will last a bit longer! I need a coat as all mine are too tight across the chest and stomach now, but I'm gonna wait.

Have been quite moody the last few days and crying over nothing - wondered when that would start!!

xxx

SweetBROODY · 22/10/2008 15:14

Oh is that part of all this MsG I hadnt realised! I've been crying all over the show! :S Are we allowed to get excited at this earlystage? I feel guitly for doing it. Jools let me know how your scan goes our dates are so similar I'd be interested to know how you get dated etc. freaky to think we may have conceived at the same time!

SweetBROODY · 22/10/2008 15:22

I've been eating loads of bananas
and MS is'nt too gory! But I do feel really sleepy all the time. Works reallygood about letting me nap at lunchtime but I have to then make up the hours... any other mums from the Barnet area? I'm really new to Barnet and wonder if there are facilties that I am unaware of!

I really should start selling on Ebay and fixing the little room.. but I think i'll wait until the scan before I start all that! so superstitious its unreal...

I seem to have gone of Cheese as well - but cant seem to get enough MILK!

Its strange how quick time is flying by as well! calucalting in weeks you forget that this goes on for months!

Anyways hope im not boring you ladies with my rambles.. but I think I am well and truly obsessed!

MsG · 22/10/2008 15:26

I'm really close to you and Jools too, SweetBROODY - due on 29th May and am 9 weeks tomorrow!

I have phases where I can't stop eating...last night I ate so much pizza I felt really bloated for about 4 hours afterwards - was awful! Other times I don't feel like eating much, but then I always get queasy. x

Jools1 · 22/10/2008 15:31

MrsG - have you expanded ?? I just looked down at my tum (sat at an office desk) and had an "OMG I'm pregnant" moment !!

I am going on a business trip to Cardiff tomorrow, where my boss is based. He hasn't seen me for over a month and I really don't want to tell yet, but I think I am actually growing a bump

I have my EDD as May 29th, but think I am only 9 weeks on Friday as I ovulate later than average - am sure the scan will disagree

Somehow in the last couple of days, I've really started to stop obsessing and just get really really excited and happy about what is to come

As for eating - I have hungry days and no appetite days but nausea is pretty rare now. As for energy levels - I'm booked in to my normal spinning class tonight !

OP posts:
SweetBROODY · 22/10/2008 15:34

MsG I've been told thats my due date as well.. I think after having another look that I am 9 weeks today! :S Although I am really confused about the whole dates thing... according to the websites i'm 10 weeks..but i'll go with the hospital I guess...

I have phases like that - sometimes I just cant even think about food, and sometimes I cant stop. Actually mainly most foods making me feel ill so I avoid it :s I hope its not bad for baby if I dont eat..

I read earlier that its good news if theres a heart beat.. that made me feel a bit better. Then I read there was to begin with but there wasnt afterwards! that scared me all over again.. I even worry if I dont have symptoms..

Its a scary world! Do you any other children MsG or is this your first?

SweetBROODY · 22/10/2008 15:38

Wow your gonna continue spin! I am so scared of going gym :S I had a day were a bled so i've been worried since..

I think I have a bulge - but then I have a round tum anyway! husband really wont let me wear certain clothes though he can see it and so can I! Boobs hurt alot - and I am wearing a larger bra..Its silly but I keep gropeing them to make sure they hurt still to make sure I am gettting symptoms!

SweetBROODY · 22/10/2008 15:45

It looks really weird I sit and squeese my boobs randomly! Let me know how your scan goes as well MsG we'll have to form a mini group and keep in touch.. I'm trying sooo hard not to get too happy about this. My mum rekons i'll jinx myself if I get too happy!

SweetBROODY · 22/10/2008 15:46

Jools dont envy you the train journey! I'm hating on trains and people on them... feel sicky on them!

MsG · 22/10/2008 15:51

It'll be my first. I had a m/c in June 2007 - it's taken us till now to conceive again! I do feel more positive this time.

I have expanded - normally I'm a comfortable size 18 (should be 14/16 really for my frame and height!) but now I'm wearing trousers in a size 20 and 22! I bought 2 new pairs of trousers (£15 each) from Evans last week. I seem to have got wider.

I'm not too worried about how big I get as long as I exercise throughout and eat fairly healthily.

My cold's finally going so I'm planning on going swimming later in the week. xx

Jools1 · 22/10/2008 15:52

I've actually been very lucky this week with travelling and have been in my local office for 3 days, so tomorrow will be my first train of the week - bliss ! I don't enjoy getting across London to Paddington, but after that it is fine

I'd booked in advance, so have a cheap first class seat on the way home on Friday Shame I can't take advantage of the free wine though !!! At least you get free snacks and soft drinks, and I am guaranteed a comfy, quiet seat.

It has been really really noticeable how much better I have felt this week and I am sure it is all down to not commuting into London - am going to try hard not to go in more than one day a week any more

OP posts:
SweetBROODY · 22/10/2008 16:01

Hmm my trousers are definately tight as well...

I travel to Charing Cross daily and back and hate the commute.. I feel dreadful on the train and theres never any seats.. Its a real ordeal!
MsG I miscarried in May this year.. i was suprised when we got pregnant so quickly :S hadnt really planned for it and it was a suprise! I am really happy for you lovely.. everythings gotta be fine after going thru that once! thats what I keep telling myself!

SweetBROODY · 22/10/2008 16:06

My Chest infection/ cold is just clearing up as well - will defo go swimming this week... Thats supposed to be good right! Looking for a yoga class as well... spoken to a few people they all say after 14 weeks though

don't envy the commute.
I work from home which has it's own joys and distractions but i miss the office rapport and general communication with the adult world. which is why i talk to you ladies !

at home, it's really hard to be disciplined. I've only done about 5 hours of work. There's always tomorrow....
