My DP seems really stinky to me aswell !! He was getting a bit amorous the other night and I thought I'd better indulge him, but the acidy smell of his breath made me heave !! - not very romantic !!

I wish I could say I had a bump, but I'm overweight anyway and just look fat

Momino - I'll be 39 in just under 3 weeks, so risk factors will be the same for me. I'm stil undecided - will talk to DP this week. It is only recently that West Herts introduced a 12 week scan - when I thought I wasn't going to be scanned till 20 weeks, it made the decision for a private nuchal much easier. Now, I'm not so sure - private nuchal, NHS triple tests or wait and see - can't decide.

SweetBROODY - Hello! Don't know if this helps at all but your due date is caluculated from the first day of your last period. (Which seems a bit mad as you probably didn't conceive until 2 wks or so after that assuming a 28 day cycle). So even if you only conceived 2 wks ago, you are officially classed as 4 wks pregnant. Not sure if that answers your question, but that's how the scan dates/weeks are also caluculated.
Momimo - you're on number 3 like me aren't you? My bump has emerged this week and is huge. And I'm only 10+4 ish. I always look massive early though, then don't seem to ever get that much bigger (thank god). If it carried on at the same rate I'd need to wheel myself around in a wheelbarrow.

Momino · 21/10/2008 13:56

jools, i wish i'd at least done the triple scan (think it's too late as it's just two days before my scan, and now can't be bothered) to find out my risk. but in any case, i'm a worrier so am going to find something to worry about.

frazzled, yes am on no. 3. my M in law is here to babysit today whilst I work (work? ha) and I'm desperately trying to hide this bump; sucking in isn't working!

sounds funny, but I just don't want family to know yet as they're more gossipy than my friends (is that possible?). we're waiting for after the scan to tell both families.

am also waiting for the scan to buy anything maternity. I lacked a good pair of jeans the last two pregnancies and so want to buy a pair early in this one so I can get my money worth. i'm going to celebrate after the scan with buying a pair, maybe from topshop? hear they have good ones. we'll see.

Jools1 · 21/10/2008 14:05

Momino - it might still be worth asking about the triple test - can't remember till I check my paperwork tonight but the MW told me that lots of people go for nuchal rather than triple tests as the triple test happens a couple of weekes later than the nuchal - you might still be in time ?

I've been getting really tingly dead hands at night has anyone else had this? I think they will tell me I am high risk because I am Diabetic but I dont want to think that there might be something wrong with the baby!

SweetBROODY · 21/10/2008 14:31

Frazzle thank you for your comment - I do know this... thats why I am confused! According to the my last period being on the 15th August - I am due on the 22nd May. But according to the scanner women I am due on the 29th May thats a whole weeks differance!

Jools1 · 21/10/2008 14:59

SweetBroody - I've been getting tingly / dead hands for a long time - since well before I was PG. I have been referred to a physiotherapist as she things it is nerve compression probably caused by bad posture / sitting at a PC all day. it is a real pain because the only time I don't get woken up with it, is when I sleep flat on my back but I won't be able to do that for much longer ... The treatment is working though - lots of massage, manipulation and exercising and I have had a few nights recently when it has not woken me up more than once - am sleeping better than I have done all year

If yours is PG related, then it may be worth mentioning. I've heard that some people can develope carpal tunnel in pregnancy, which probably has the same symptoms - thought it happened later on in 2nd / 3rd trimester normally though.

As for thread title - sorry it is not more original I thought it was better deliberately made similar to the one before as there were no posts left on the old thread to link to it !

Is anybody else Diabetic and pregnant? I've had some really low sugars.. is that normal?

SweetBROODY · 21/10/2008 15:22

Jools I think that makes me 10 weeks and 4 days and not 8 :d thank you so much for all your help.. from what I understands the dates are all arbituary anyway.. baby can decide to come whenever it wants! good luck though and thank you for ALL your help! :D its nice to have people to talk to everyone else thinks I am obsessessed!

FiKelly · 21/10/2008 16:36

loobylou I had DS at 36yrs... had the combined nuchal scan and blood test and my results modified the national average for my age to 1:4500 for one type of chromosome prob & 1:7500 for the other. so your results can indeed be totally different to the national average for age.

sweetbroody I got tingly dead hands when pregnant with DS... I got carpal tunnel in my wrists some years previous to DS due to excessive crocheting and bad hand posture... and it reared it's head in my third timester. If you keep your wrists bent an awful lot of the time then it compresses the carpal tunnel in your wrists that carry the blood veins or something into your hands. It is cureable if that's what your prob could be. I had to wear splints on both hands/wrists that have boning to keep your hand posture better/straight. I found my worst times were at night... depending on where I placed my hands to sleep ie under my pillow... With paying attention to my hand posture i have successfully got rid of it twice. The worst case senario is a simple op... but was determined to improve posture and avoid it. My pregnancy carpal tunnel was due to fluid retention though.

FiKelly · 21/10/2008 16:44

frazzle I had a nightmare with my BF due to all sorts of things. If everyone wants to hear my saga I'm more than happy to share it but maybe I should message you it instead (so as not to give more ideas to the 1st timers!) sorry to be mysterious & DS was happy no matter where the milk came from... nipple confusion didn't come into it at all for him

Momino · 21/10/2008 16:58

does anyone feel MS worse by the end of the day? i seemed ok this morning but now just feel seasick. i'm about 12 weeks so shouldn't it be waning now? please?

FiKelly · 21/10/2008 17:01

momino mine has been worse esp in evenings this time. Last time the MS got worse before it suddenly went at 14wks...

runningmonkey · 21/10/2008 17:27

Hiya,
Just signing into the new thread too.

Momino - I know what you mean, I'm feeling really awful because DH is being so lovely and affectionate but I'm just not in the mood at all... in fact wish I was!!

llareggub · 21/10/2008 17:30

Found you all. Just tried to post on the old thread!

I've spent the afternoon in bed napping with my toddler. Bliss. I am so, so tired at the moment and I'm sure I need some iron supplements. My MS is worse in the evening, definitely. I didn't have it at all with my last pregnancy, so I'm not convinced by the partying theory raised on t'other thread.

Following my scan yesterday I ordered a load of maternity clothes from M&S last night. I'm starting to run out of clothes and I can't seem to find my maternity clothes from last time around.

sweetbroody your dates are probably out because your LMP method doesn't take account of your ovulation date, unless you know it, of course. I'd say your scan is the accurate date.

SpangleMaker · 21/10/2008 17:53

Seen my midwife today to deposit an armful of blood for the battery of tests they do - hope I haven't got anything nasty.

I told her I thought I could feel my uterus while lying in bed the other morning. She said it was probably my bowels pushing it up (even more - she was right!). Said that there would certainly be something to feel when I go back in 4 weeks and she will listen for the heartbeat then too. Warned me not to go getting myself a doppler. I'm not going to because I'm certain I'd get myself into a right tizz if I couldn't hear anything.

My yoga DVD arrived today but it says not to do it until 14 weeks don't really understand why - does anyone know anything about doing yoga in early pregancy?

JosieC · 21/10/2008 17:55

I'm due 01/05/09, dating scan yesterday. I've never been pregnant before + none of my friends have had one + are mostly all years away from it! I get so worried at any symptoms but suppose I can relax a bit as the 12 week scan was all good.

Momino - I am exactly the same. Have a great relationship with my husband but at the moment but keep pushing him off and he got all teary at the scan and I actually felt annoyed with him! No idea what is wrong with me !! Oh well he's being v. patient.

My bump is just beginning to protrude + I am having some v. thick discharge (sorry!)at the moment - went to GP today who didn't seem too worried but I am - any advice?

One bean with heartbeat, no apparant reason for spotting. Was a bit annoyed though cos the lady who scanned me said that I wouldn't have a 12 week scan now. Due date brought forward 1 day to 23rd.
Have lost a bit more pink discharge this afternoon - so after I was reassured this morning I felt a bit upset. Perhaps I' doing too much.
Still got a bug (although it is hard to distinguish between bug sick and ms) actually threw up tonight - who was it who said about weeing when they were sick? I just did it too.

sweetbroody - my Lmp was on the 17th Aug so i worked my date out to be 24th may (yours would be 22nd), however if you ovulated later in your cycle and conceived later that may be why your scan date is different.

momino - top shop do do good jeans - definately worth getting a pair. I ended up having to cut the elastic in mine near the end though as I think their sizes were on the small size.

llareggub · 21/10/2008 19:56

A heartbeat is a very good sign indeed. I had very heavy unexplained bleeding when pregnant with DS. Sometimes it happens and we never know why.

Putting your feet up sounds like a jolly good idea though, and try to relax and not to worry. You have a heartbeat!

Overtiredmum · 21/10/2008 20:01

Hi all

Had my dating/nuchal scan today and it was so weird. Thought it would help me digest the information that I am actually pregnant now, but nope . Anyway, all measurements are normal and my dates are bang on so am due 5 May 2009!! Just awaiting blood results back and then hopefully with a good result it will finally sink in. Am just worried about my age (34) - crazy I know!! DS (3) loved seeing baby on the screen.

DH treated my afterwards to a TGI and a new pair of maternity trousers for work - my god, they are sooooo comfortable!

frazzledoldbag34 · 21/10/2008 20:10

OOH was just on the baby name threads having a look. Remember I was asking the other night if Billie Piper had had her baby yet....well apparently she has now had it (a boy) called Winston. I really like that actually. Unusual but I reckon quite cool?

Am totally knackered and feeling nauseous (properly) for the first time in a few days. Haven't eaten much - DH on way home right now with some food so hope to feel better after eating. Am just sooooooooo tired today, my eyelids keep drooping shut and work has been a real slog to get anything done. Boo.

agooboo congrats on your bean and heartbeat!

sweetbroody - my LMP was 21st July and I'm due 16th May (am now 10 wks 4 days according to scan). My GP told me I was 2 -3 wks further on than I actually am based on this (but I knew she was wrong). Obviously it depends on when you ovulated and as sperm can live for 5 days (or more?) and eggs can survive for 2-3 days there is room for error using dates. And without knowing when you ovulated it's just pot luck really. Scans are usually very accurate to within a day or two so I'd just go with that!
As you say it will come when it's ready anyway!!!! Babies don't listen to dates.

Hi all Glad I found you. I tried to post on the old thread about 8 times before I realised it was full.
I am still BFing DD is 11 months but I agree with Frazzled as I was not supported in hospital with BF I didn't know how to latch and noone showed me until (thank goodness) my mum arrived about 17 hours after birth and latched DD on straight away. She is a midwife too and stayed with me for 2 weeks and without her I would have found it really hard but she was there to hope me especially in the middle of the night when my boobs were engorged and I couldn't latch her on. Thank goodness she is coming again this time (she lives in NZ) Also my dad and aunty is coming ths time so I'll be well looked after.

runningmonkey · 21/10/2008 20:44

agooboo, just been on the topshop website and bought two pairs of jeans... oops

congrats on the heartbeats and scans everyone who's had them so far. Good luck for those with them soon. I am so jealous as I've still got 2 weeks to wait.
