Wow, go away for a few days and you miss loads! You lot are busy.

Sorry to hear there's been a few more bits of bad news. Very best wishes to those affected.

There's also been a lot of scans happening too, so good news as well.

Around here they've started offering nuchal scans on the NHS, but DH and I decided that we wouldn't have it (didn't have triple test with DD either, no nuchal scan then). Everyone I know thinks we're bonkers, so cece was pleased to hear of someone else who's turned it down.

Another Bravissimo babe here, been shopping there by mail for years. I was so excited to discover that I could have matching underwear! Aged 25 I was a 36G, lost a lot of weight and dropped to a 30/32F, got pregnant and went back up to a 36H at peak of BF, settled for ages at 34G, and then disappointingly after stopping BF shrank back to a (slightly saggy) 32E/F. Was hoping to grow again with this pregnancy but nothing at all so far - boo!

My morning sickness has almost gone now fortunately, but I am so tired all the time now, I'm desperate for my second trimester bloom (13+6!) but nothing doing yet. I am really struggling with eating though, takes me ages to wrok out what I really want to eat,,and then when I eat I feel really full and bloated very quickly. I haven't even got a huge bump squashing my stomach yet, though am definietly starting to look pg now. Even DH commented today and he never ever comments on my size/shape! Sure the constipation isn't helping though.

Sorry, this turned into a essay.

FiKelly · 05/11/2008 20:40

MrsEvs I can whole heartedly recommend germaloids ointment much better than the creams and has a slightly numbing effect on application too (sorry if tmi)

when the ointment has started to take effect... shouldn't take much more than a few days maybe you should use some lactulose (see doctor) or senna tablets (totally natural stuff) or eat a few prunes every day Both of those have worked for me when i'm not feeling able to guzzle huge quantities of liquid!

FiKelly · 05/11/2008 20:47

btw i'm loving my new seraphine maternity jeans that arrived today... so comfy I think i'll just live in these for the next 6 months

flippineck · 05/11/2008 21:02

Fikelly - which jeans did you get? Am seriously thinking about getting a new pair. I have two pairs from last pg, uder bump blooming marvellous that were ok until I got really pregnant and they just fell down all the time, or some over bump ones donated by a friend that were ok but made me look like I was pregnant and had several spare tyres!

FiKelly · 05/11/2008 21:25

flippineck i treated myself to these... they were out of stock when i ordered them a few weeks ago and I put mine on back order. Their shipment of regular length and long has come in... they're still out of stock of 3 sizes of short & largest in long.

I don't have a saggy bum in these... in fact my mum commented how trim i was looking in them today... apart from the small bump of course! I am having to pull them back up after i've been sitting down but no biggie. when the bump grows i'm sure they'll not need that so much!

llareggub · 05/11/2008 21:31

What a day. I've been crying on and off due to the election in the US and also a good friend of mine emigrating to NZ. Pesky hormones.

I look very pregnant indeed today. Loads of people commented and I'm a bit concerned about how big I'm going to get. I do look all tummy!

We're not having the nuchal scan or any of the blood tests. We talked it over briefly and concluded very quickly. We made the same decision with DS and I'm pretty sure it is the right decision for us.

Next week I have another scan as the "12 week" scan was done at 11 weeks so the sonographer wanted me to come back so that she could complete her measurements. I'll actually be 14 +2 weeks, so no where near 12 weeks. I also have my first consultant appointment next week. I can't wait, as he is the same consultant that gave me fertility treatment first time around.

Weirdly, I was sick this morning for the first time ever!

MsG · 05/11/2008 21:42

I'm a day off 11 weeks too and feeling more sick and tired!! I used to just feel sick in the evenings but the last few days it's been throughout the day. Not been sick but just feeling sick, retching etc.

My scan's on Friday too - soo nervous.

FiKelly · 05/11/2008 21:43

llareggub been a day for being in tears for me too today. Started at lunchtime with a discussion with DH over the phone about the fact i'll probably be more on my own this time in birth of LO because of having no one to look after DS. Took me ages to stop bubbling away after that conversation.

Then this evening my best friend who also went back to NZ last december returned my answering machine messages from the last few days. I'd been trying to get hold of her to tell her our being pregnant news. Ended up in tears again... although more tears of joy as she was so excited and it then hit me how far away she is again! was great filling her in on my pregnancy stuff so far.

I seem to be having a few days of being really really irritable, and then burst into tears at the drop of a hat if DP says anything vaguely contentious !

No nausea and spinning tonight was a revelation - I could keep up and even do the sprint tracks !! All I have is a thickening waistline !!!

I've just realised that we're rapidly approaching 1000 posts again. Do we have to think of a new thread name?!

Yes, we have time to be inventive I had to start this thread cos the last one filled up, so deliberately kept the name similar so people would find it !!

If we plan these things, we can add a link to the new thread before we run out of posts

I keep trying to think of something with maternity clothes or brands in the title as we are discussing them so much - haven't come up with anything less than lame yet though !

Thanks for the tip FiKelly! Your Seraphine jeans look lovely btw v. jealous - I've never been able to do the under the bump stuff but they do look fab.

FiKelly · 05/11/2008 22:07

My suggestion for the title of the next thread is...

heading into the 2nd trimester and we'll be blooming marvellous!

or something like that

Dandylioness I liked your name - made me chuckle. Exactly how I'm feeling, although if the nausea and vomiting could just stop that would be nice.

Very informative couple of days posting here. I have come to the conclusion that despite my NHS postcode lottery experiences so far (20 minute booking in appointment consisting of filling in forms whilst midwife faffed with other stuff and barely spoke to me) and rubbish local hospital, I seem to have lucked out on the scan as I will have my dating and nuchal scan tomorrow as standard. Very excited about seeing the tomato (as my sister is calling it, as a certain website says that's how big it is at 12 weeks). My letter also very clearly states that a full bladder is not required - I have re-read it several times as this seems to be so at odds with everyone elses instructions, but even my pregancy addled brain can cope with such clarity I think!

I have had baked beans on toast for tea for the 3rd time in a week but did managed to walk past McDonalds at lunchtime and head for italian cafe for pasta instead, so not all bad.

Small belly appeared this week and after I gave a presentation at work on Monday, someone who was in the audience asked my PA if I had any news...might be shopping for those maternity clothes more quickly than I thought. However, had a 'colour consultation' today (you know where they tell you you are an autumn or summer palate and show the colours you can wear) - very interesting and lots of fun, but now I'm scouring maternity catalogues for clothes that come in 'my' colours, which adds another layer of complication.

I'll report back on the scan tomorrow. Hope everyone is OK today. Night, night.

FiKelly · 05/11/2008 22:44

how about... for a non-company name based title

Heading for the 2nd trimester our time has come to bloom.

detsy · 05/11/2008 22:51

ugh was sick this evening but only cos i had to clean the fish out and the smell of fish poo made me gag till i chucked up. Didn't happen before so must be feelign especially delicate I guess. Still the fishes have a very nice clean house as they had been a bit neglected to be honest!

Had a strop with DP as he has booked a meeting tomo when he promised he would be home in time for my long awaited and much needed hair appt (still at least the fish beenfited from my temper!!)

Get you Ist mrsF with a PA and everything - what do you do? I had a teleconf with boss today and he wants me to go to both Dubai and S Africa before Christmas - nightmare with logistics with sproglet - maybe she could come with me and help?? (she's 1, )

Really suffering with stress incontinence and desperately trying to kegel my way thru every day. Hopefully once my cough has gone so will the pee'ing - never been this bad before!! Ok off to bed as up early for marathon in the office. Sleep tight mums and babies

detsy · 05/11/2008 22:53

2nd trimester - time to be bonny, blooming, busty and beautiful...??

I'm off to bed too... all the tears & emotional stuff have worn me out.

Have a good night all and good luck to all those with scans tomorrow

Momino · 06/11/2008 09:23

good luck those with scans today! Can't wait to hear how they went and how exciting.

xx

Momino · 06/11/2008 09:33

fikelly i've been emotional too, crying at everything including the election (weird). i'm from Ohio though and cast my democratic vote by post last week - it's the 1st time Ohio's ever gone democratic , so i feel like maybe this time i made a difference (?). usually I don't think it matters.

love the seraphine jeans, sigh. i spent £40 on these topshop skinny ones but still need to wear a belt with them. I can't be bothered to spend any more.

also jealous of all your 'little bumps'. another sigh. my 1st pregnancy i didn't have much a bump till 20+ weeks. now, 3rd pgnancy, i feel as big as 20+ weeks.

did someone mention a birth trauma thread? I'll have to scan back posts to find out. Working today again so hoping really i'm not on too often or I'll get nothing done.

see you soon...

FiKelly · 06/11/2008 09:37
