runningmonkey I've found two websites that may ease your worries?

community.babycentre.co.uk/find?q=painful%20boobs

homemade-remedies.com/mastalgia.html

trawled through a few websites and most of them said it's quite common but to speak to your MW if you are worried...

I've had pains in boob/s but that was after having DS when the milk was coming in...

FiKelly · 04/11/2008 19:20

detsy if the pizza calls... a drive may have to be done... stained track bottoms or not. You can always spritz yourself with something nice smelling and pop on a big overcoat and no-one will know!

Jools1 · 04/11/2008 19:21

How incredibly sad Febes I really can't imagine coping with that heartbreak

OP posts:
Rubysmom08 · 04/11/2008 19:24

Hi Ladies

Febes that is so upsetting, even though I don't know your friend I'll be thinking of them both how sad

Jonesy really sorry for you, I suffered 6 miscarriages and an ectopic before i conceived Ruby and she stuck. It's horrible what you are going through just seek comfort in your DP and take your time x

I have done something really stupid..... I have a shooting pain in my left bum cheek. My mom has a TENS machine which she said to use because there was nothing in the instructions to say not to. Only had it on for 20 mins but could hardly feel anything because of it being on my bum fat. Went to Boots this pm to see if there was anything else I could take and mentioned that I used a tens machine and the woman said I shouldn't use until after 12 weeks, now I know I am 11 weeks and tere is only a week in it but I am worried. Rang my midwife and she didn't seem bothered more interested in getting me referred because I was in chronic pain with Ruby near the end... I shouldn't worry should I?

febes It's anyones worst nightmare. I can't get my head around what they must be going through.

FiKelly · 04/11/2008 19:36

Rubysmom08 if you're not satisfied with your MW response today why don't you phone your local hospital maternity ward for a 2nd opinion.... & you could always phone NHS direct too and they'll ask you a heap of questions then probably get someone to phone you back... and talk it over.

runningmonkey · 04/11/2008 20:12

Thanks detsy and febes its been going on for 2 days now. Think if I get another day of it I'll call mw. They are getting obviously bigger along with belly so its prob just 'growing pains' but its really uncomfy

febes What a sad bit of news. Don't really know what to say other than how sorry I am and my thoughts will be with you and them tomorrow. xx

runningmonkey · 04/11/2008 20:17

Sorry, meant FiKelly not Febes in the first bit of my post. Am blaming it on the boob pain.

Well I had my scan today - was terrified as had two miscarriages including one missed/silent one before and I had convinced myself it would be the same again as I had absolutely symptoms.

But, fortunately, everything seemed fine!

One little one, 11 weeks and 6 days and the cprrect number of arms and legs that were being waved at us quite merrily. Due date changed by one day, so now due 20 May.

Bit relieved. But also bit scared as now I think this may actually happen!

Why are antenatal clinics so rubbish though? My appointment was at 9, and I didn't even get seen to have my BP taken til 10.45. I actually got out of there at 1.45! Spent all morning hanging around with no signs of anything much happening and wondering how they can be so disorganised?

Still, all OK so far. Nuchal scan next monday so fingers crossed for that.

Sorry about those with bad news though, so sad.

I'm so, so sorry Jonesy.

Jools1 · 05/11/2008 09:44

Great to hear Mags You must be relieved !!

My scan is on Tues - have an irrational fear they won't find a heartbeat after reading about so much heartache on Mumsnet, but trying hard to stay positive

Jools1 - I've also got my scan on Tuesday and also worried there'll be no heartbeat.

I'll be 13+3 on Tuesday, and do seem to have developed a TINY belly... just clinging on to that.

Looking at the list - will you be about 11 weeks on Tues? ..

What time is your scan?

Yes I keep telling myself the same thing...

Only 5 days to go... Now the scan is so close I want to start telling people but I know that would be a mistake. Got to admit I'm getting a bit excited too!

OK, off to try to completely distract myself from all thoughts of children/babies/pregnancy etc...

Jools1 · 05/11/2008 10:24

Yes, I shall be 11 weeks and 4 days (by my calculations) on Tues

GP reckons I'm a day further on, so we shall see ...

Appt not till 15.50, so practically all day to wait

DP is taking me away to Cornwall tomorrow - a birthday present to take my mind off things as we get back Monday night

I have suddenly developed a larger belly this week - maybe there is a bump under the blubber

OP posts:
Jael · 05/11/2008 10:52

Can I just ask, what's the difference between a scan and a nuchal scan?

Well I was up for over an hour the night before last with extremely bad indigestion and heartburn. I had crippling pains all across my chest, and my stomach went absolutely rock solid. I knew what the pains were straight away, as two years ago a naive DP and myself had to call an ambulance out after I'd had the pains for over an hour (the pains really are that bad) I suffer from asthma and panic attacks and I knew it wern't any of them, so off to docs this morning, and was back home an hour later armed with a huge bottle of gaviscon, got to take it every night thorough the pregnancy. Sorry for rambling.

Jael XX

Jools1 · 05/11/2008 11:14

Jael - the 12 week scan is I think just a dating scan - they check the size of the bean to confirm dates and not a lot else I think.

The nuchal scan measures the nuchal fold - not entirely sure what that is - the neck ??

I don't see why the two can't be combined tbh, unless I'm missing something !

Momino · 05/11/2008 11:53

Hi all. good to hear about the scan Mags.

To those waiting for scans - hang in there! I was worried to there would be nothing/no heartbeat and was so relieved. Until you see it on the scan, it's so hard to believe. I'm glad York finally introduced 12 week scans as it was awful waiting in my 1st pregnancy for the 20 week scan. did hear a heartbeat at week 14 but that's ages!

a ridiculous food question: we had chicken soup last night that we forgot to put in the fridge. it's home made and lovely and i want some now. if i boil it for a while, do you think it's safe to eat even though it had been sitting out all night?

Momino · 05/11/2008 12:35

decision about the soup made: i left it on the hob too long. when i went down to check, it had burnt to a blackened glob and the kitchen was in smoke . luckily caught it before the smoke was too thick to set off the alarm.

now what to eat....

FiKelly · 05/11/2008 12:48

mags great news

I had my booking appointment with the MW at 9.40am. Phew i forgot how long they were! Fortunately DS slept in this morning so I took his breakfast with us and loads of toys. He managed very well considering. All is well with me/us so far they're sending off my referral for the consultant so that appointment should be quite soon. No sign of pre-ecampsia & my BMI was 25.5 which was lower than I'd expected

Just spoken to DH at work to fill him in and the subject veered onto who can look after DS when next LO arrives. This is a major problem for us as both my parents are elderly and disabled, I'm an only child and DH mum lives in scotland, also has health problems and is older than my parents...

My closest friend here is also pregnant and will be tied up with her new born that's due mid march. I have other friends but they also have at least 1 young child and jobs to juggle....

Really not sure what to do. DH is the best person available to look after DS but i'm really scared about having next LO completely on my own in hospital... At that point in the discussion I burst into tears and i'm still bubbling away.

It is very likely that i'll need another CS & I can understand DH not wanting to see it after last time... but I know I don't handle anaesthesia well... even the spinal block made me really groggy & I wasn't with it for hours. I need someone with me to check i'm all right, fight my corner when I'm unable and see to the baby if need be... Any ideas anyone?

Momino · 05/11/2008 12:56

Fi, keep scanning round your friends to see who may be available to sit with DS at the last moment.

my family is in the USA and dh's are 2 hour drive away. When i went into labour with dd2 luckily it was nursery day for dd1 and we called my inlaws who drove across in time to pick up dd1 from nursery.

if you can't depend on parents, maybe a health visitor or MW has ideas as well? how old is your ds? does he go to nursery?

i know it's hard to say but don't worry, it will all work out ok. i'm worried as well with 2 but i keep thinking how things went smoothly last time without planning and hoping it is the same this time.
