Oh dear, doing 'silly' things seems to be a hallmark of this stage of pregnancy. I am quite bady ANYWAY, but have been exra bad recently. Worst was taking dh's car keys instead of mine and being locked out of the house...

Well, I've got my babies' birthday sorted. 22nd October!! Consultant asked me how I wanted to deliver...how should I know? I asked him what he recommended and he said c-section so we booked it in. I will be 37+1. They may still be earlier, but I am excited to have a date that is as far away as it can be.

Some classic doctor wisdom for those suffering swollen feet. I told the consultant my feet have really ballooned over past 3-4 days and all he said was, "IT'S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE." Oh, okay, thanks for the reassurance. So then asked what I can do to help it and he said, "JUST DELIVER THE BABIES." So I guess there's not much you can do except put feet up when possible. He does get me in and out of there very quickly.

MerryMarigold · 03/10/2008 15:39

PS. C-section because lower baby is breech. I guess he offered me a choice as he was going to let me push them out (or else just wanted to have a fight with me when I said I wanted a natural birth), but anyway...I was undecided if I wanted a VB and giving birth to a 'good sized' breech baby decided me .

lacks is ring off? I haven't worn rings since ds. I am permanently 'naked' (hate wearing rings, poor dh after spending all that money on them!).

Pinkali, keys?

Londonladies meeting up right now. Bit but not not of the journey on tube or the walk from the tube!

suiledonn · 03/10/2008 15:42

Hi Merry, you must be excited to have a date picked. You can start planning towards that now.
LOL about the doctor's sympathetic reaction to your swollen feet! Honestly, if it isn't life threatening they seem to be so unconcerned regardless of how you feel.

In solidarity with the ladies who are going out for tea I have just had a big cafe mocha, a slice of home made chocolate cake and two choc biscuits. And then I remembered I have a check up this evening and am now worrying I will have traces of sugar in my sample after all the nice food.

Pinkali37 · 03/10/2008 16:09

Merry Oh how exciting, so you are officially going to be our first? Can not wait to hear that all is safe and see pictures oh and hear birth weights and names.

NO KEYS.... Does anyone know how to break into a safe?

Should i be taking my rings off? They seem fine up to now.

Oh i feel soooo fat. I seem to be eating chocolate everyday thinking that i'll be able to lose the weight one the baby is here because it is all floppy as opposed to firm and big. Am i fooling myself?

ruthosaurus · 03/10/2008 16:37

OMG Merry - that's your babies' birthday! How exciting! It must be really nice actually knowing when as well as how. Do you get a spinal/epidural or are you getting general anaesthetic (I don't know much about c-sections)

Aren't doctors nice? I don't think many of them have seen their poor feet turning intp flippers in front of their eyes. Although if it's a choice between sympathetic or really, really good at performing c-sections, I know which I'd go for!

Pinks if I knew how to break into a safe, I wouldn't be sat here right now. Best of luck, they will turn up. I dunno if you're fooling yourself about the chocolate, but if you are we're both fools. While ironing I have become quietly horrified at how huge my clothes have become and am definitely going to buy seriously enormous trousers tomorrow.

Pinkali37 · 03/10/2008 16:54

LadyBuzz i've made a move on scrabble (ok so i'm 2 days late, i'm a slow thinker.. no really computer problems). Can we play Monday?

Pinkali37 · 03/10/2008 16:59

Sauraus I've invited you to play scrabble! Let's play on Monday Blimey i sound like someone asking a 7 year old friend to play out. Do you need to ask your mum?

I'm off for a chinese tonight, perhaps i should ring ahead to pre-warn them that a pregnant woman is coming, they may need to get extra supplies in.

LadyBuzz · 03/10/2008 16:59

Pinkali yes no probs sounds good to me!
hope the keys turn up soon.
Well my bathroom is spotless but I hurt everywhere now - i knew there was a reason nesting was a bad idea!
Chocolate is not a good idea I know from previous experience - funnily enough though it has not stopped me this time round
Well we can all encourage each other to get the weight off - I have 4 stone to work on (only 3 from this pg though!)

LadyBuzz · 03/10/2008 17:08

Forgot to say great news Merry so glad you have got it sorted out, hopefully the babys wil be comfy where they are until then!

ruthosaurus · 03/10/2008 17:21

Hi Pinks - can we scrabble on Tuesday? I am working from home then and I have to do my homework on Monday so I can't play out... I am also having Chinese tonight unless DH has one of his evil health moments and insists on cooking veg from scratch or having more bloody soup and bread for tea (unlikely on a Friday, but could happen).

Buzz maybe we put weight on during pregnancy because it's nice for babies to snuggle on? It beats my other theory, which has more to do with lack of control in the confectionary aisle.

God, this ironing lark is taking AGES for some reason.

MerryMarigold · 03/10/2008 17:32

rutho, gotta secret to share with you...

i don't touch an iron. EVER! dh does his own shirs. i hang and fold well...no-one would ever know (or maybe just too polite to say ).

LadyBuzz · 03/10/2008 17:37

Merry me too DH irons if he is going out and I don't ever and like you no one ever notices

ruthosaurus · 03/10/2008 17:47

I seem to have this disorder whereby if I don't iron my clothes I look like I've slept in a skip. Even brand new clothes look like I've slept in them after about half an hour and I always have a bra strap showing or a stain on my top that wasn't there before I left the house...

The scruff gene was obviously not transferred to my lovely sister who can sleep in her clothes and have people ask her if her skirt is designer. I have seen her go out for the night wearing tights which I KNOW she has turned inside out to hide the paint marks on them and a top that she has dragged out of the washbasket and febreezed and she still gets asked where she got her shoes.

So I have to iron otherwise I look smelly

barbareebaa · 03/10/2008 17:59

Hello!

Just to say I have left a message for my secret stork on the s.s thread I got my lovely gift this morning and am totally thrilled with the little boys Next outfit and first Christmas top - thank you so much xx

re: ironing - I barely iron anything - unlike my mum who irons pants, hankies and socks

Merry How exciting to know when your babies are coming!! Not too long to go! Wow! Would love to meet up sometime if you are up for it (but understand completely if it's too much at the moment!)

pinkali hope the keys turn up!

Hope the tea drinking ladies have had a lovely afternoon!

MerryMarigold · 03/10/2008 18:30

Barbs, next week good any good? Thursday? I am not allowed to drive (by dh) after next Friday!!

MerryMarigold · 03/10/2008 18:33

Just asked mum if she wants bananas or potatoes with her salmon!!! Bananas being rice of course.

barbareebaa · 03/10/2008 19:01

bananas and salmon!

Next thurs would be good I think - I finish about 4 - so could meet about 4.15ish? - is that too late? There is a car park just off Wanstead High Street, near somerfield.

ceebee74 · 03/10/2008 19:41

Merry how exciting knowing your babies birthday - and it gives you a date to aim for!! Do we think anyone will beat you??

Pink hope the keys turn up - probably when you least expect it!

I have done my last full week at work - I am knackered and honestly don't think I could have done another one which is bad considering I am only 32 weeks

vbab78 · 03/10/2008 20:44

pinkali - hope you find the keys. I constantly (even before pregnant) have a habit of losing my keys or mobile phone. Often they are at the bottom of one of my many bags I pack stuff into for DS. Only had an organised bag when DS was a baby since then I have relaxed my bag etiquette.

lacks - I every now and again, normally when baby moves (at 35/36 wks hurts me), think s**t I'm pregnant not organised and my house is upside down in a decorating mess and can I do the labour (baby looking big like DS) and baby stuff again! Even put myself through the breastfeeding saga and emotion again and through those first bad 6wks like DS.

merrymarigold - congarts on your babies birthday .

MonkeyMargot · 03/10/2008 20:46

Hello ladies!
Saurus glad the minisaurus is fit and well - what a relief!
Lacks - you obviously haven't got your ring off yet, as I see you haven't made any Scrabble moves!
MerryM - wow - that's less than 3 weeks away! That's so exciting!!!

Well - The London meet-up was absolutely fabulous! It was so, so lovely to meet everyone in real life - and it felt like I already knew everyone. Tea itself was scrumptious, and the afternoon flew by. We will most definitely be doing it again. I wish it were feasible to meet everyone...

LackaDAISYcal · 03/10/2008 21:36

I have been at the school disco....woohoo (being a mum bloody rocks) although it was hit and miss whether we went if anyone saw my AIBU thread earlier. DD had a ball.

Ring isn't off, but I now have a rather fetching and painful friction burn around my finger . They are going to need cutting I fear.....or I could leave them as an experiment in how long it takes gangrene to set in

Cat is home minus a few more teeth, and looking wired...obviously good shit, whatever pain relief they gave her

rutho.....you have had me giggling again with your witticisms . I used to work with a chap who had the same sort of natural SOH as you; tis very very funny

OUCH OUCH OUCH

I think virgil has just engaged his head in my pelvis . Felt like he was trying to chew his way out before the hatch has opened.

A mighty strange and fecking painful feeling. Am worried though; I'm sure they aren't supposed to engage this early in second and subsequent pergnancies

Ladies - especially ones local to me (Epsom) please please please can you help me. DH and I have just been trying to test our birthing pool for our home water birth and our taps aren't powerful enough to send any hot water through the hose. Cue DH running up and downstairs with pans of hot water for the last 2 hours... anyhoo, we were thinking of getting a few electric kettles in to help, as its much quicker so does anyone have a spare or old one that they could give / lend us?? We would be happy to come and pick it up - let me know!! Thanks!

PS - sorry this is a very selfish post, I don't have time to read as I am running back and forth with our one kettle.

PPS - London Ladies Tea was fab and everyone was lovely!!

LackaDAISYcal · 03/10/2008 22:35

choco can you fill it from the bathroom taps?

or put it downstairs and use bathroom taps so you have a head of water?

or connect the hose to the shower in some cunning fashion if you take the shower spray off?

Glad the tea was a success; am very jealous that I wasn't there to meet anyone!

OP posts:
ChocOrange05 · 03/10/2008 23:47

Daisy we tried both taps and we don't have a shower. Its a bit of a shame but we managed to half fill it with cold from the hose as the pressure was good enough but not any hot. Anyhoo - I think the kettle thing will work ok, just time consuming. DH and I just had a lovely dip in the pool together, very relaxing but also freaky thinking next time I'm in here......

OK - I don't want to say much on here as I feel like a bit of a freak (and especially as I would like to stay friends with the lovely ladies I met today and fear they will never look at me the same) but if I say "skin tags" - anyone know about these?? If not, lets ignore it and forget I ever mentioned it! But I know you ladies are so lovely I don't feel too embarrassed (well 95% instead of a 100!) asking on here.
