and all this group B strep flying around is quite worrying; they don't routinely test for it here but if it's as common as it seems to be.....

hana, BH aren't usually painful the first time out......but as far as I can see (and ime), they get worse with subsequent pregnancies. there are exceptions, like rutho though!

sparkletoes · 14/10/2008 13:36

Do you know what I BET that garlic trick works Hana!

Don't know about the unused childcare vouchers Lacka was under impression you can't get the money back but if you pay the tax/NI don't really see why not. Ceebee may know...

LackaDAISYcal · 14/10/2008 13:36

I vote for "too late to change our minds...." It will get folks chuckling

I think we might have baby name twins rutho

Ate a cheese and tomato sarnie for lunch and the acid indigestion is a killer

Gah, my DD won't stop whinging......

OMG my BIL called and said I'm going to be an auntie again!!! Only 3 or 4 weeks in though, so fingers crossed and not allowed to blab about it (apart from to you ladies - he said that was okay). She has evil morning sickness, though, poor thing.

Yay babies everywhere!!!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 14/10/2008 13:49

congrats for your sil rutho ...and fingers crossed.

Know what you mean, it is awfully early. He said they've known for about 2 weeks, aren't modern pg tests amazing? But yay babies!

I just hope DH doesn't go all "wise older brother who has been there done that" at him, it'll drive them nuts...

Dozymare · 14/10/2008 13:57

GARLIC IN YOUR NOONY??!! now there IS a very good form of contraception!! It has actually made me feelquite queasy thinking about it - what if it got "lost up there"

Imagine explaining that one to the Dr!!!

rutho I love your sense of humour, you should write a book on the trials and tribulations of pregnancy, would deffo be a best seller!!!!

Obs sorry about your cyst, sounds very painful indeed.....wish you better soon

lacks must be something in the water as my DH has also agreed to my slightly way out girls name of Tallulah - although saying that, it is highly likely that I might change my mind again, at the moment it is still number 1 by a long way though.....

I am in a panic today - nursery still not finished, hospital bag not packed, house a right royal mess and I can['t be ased to do anything about it, DS1 is 5 early november and I need to organise a party NOW so I am on top of things....aaarrrggghhh......stress city and I am bloody tired which doesn't help!

Anyhow, off for a reviving cuppa earl grey now....

Hugs to all

What if it didn't come back out tho or do you leave it in... (the garlic I mean)

Just heard that song "Fill my little world right up" on radio, it always reminds me of bring PG with DS so I got all sentimental and lifted him up and gave me a big kiss. Then he said to me "You are teasing me mummy!" ?????????? Wondering where on earth has he picked that up from!!!!!

Love the thread names Ruthy, esp the first one and the one Lacksa liked...

ALso glad your DH has come round to your way of thinking on the name front!

I am still liking Neil, Luke or Euan for a blue one. Can't seem to stay away from 4 letter names but Luke has the same 2 last letters as DS so maybe too many **ke names!!

ruthosaurus · 14/10/2008 14:06

Dozy, siddown and breathe through your ears, girl! And make me a cuppa while you're up, DH has put the teabags at the back of a high shelf, grr .

Plus, noony? A new one, yay! I'm collecting MN words for fanjo...

And garlic? In the noony/fanjo/mimsy? We're supposed to flavour it now? Or is it to keep the vaginal vampires away? I'm definitely not explaining that one to the Dr, and I won't be able to watch Coppola's Dracula again for ages...

Baby Saurus has just done something weird, dunno what, but I definitely heard as well as felt it. Urgh.

Go Tallulah - I wasn't allowed it but I can still live vicariously through you!

Pinkyminkee · 14/10/2008 14:11

that's lovely news, rutho!

glad you got some sleep in the end, lacks*obs ouch, pooor love. Hope the pills take it away very quickly.

Greta news re-home births a go go. Very jealous.
it
re foods etc. I agree that a lot of it is over-caution, but then you see people blithely smoking and drinking through PG. DH has to deal with quite a few FAS teenagers, it's very sad, but like rutho says, you have to be a real binge drinker, it's thought. No really conclusive evidence either way.

regarding toxoplasmosis, I did work on a long education project with a lovely lady who has it, but she got it from playing with cat poo as a toddler at someeone's house, not from raw carrots. It is a really horrible thing- she goes blind from time to time and has to have regular steroid injections- it never goes away once you contract it. But she is the only person that I know of who has it. Apparrently you are more suseptible if your immune system is compromised- HIV+, for example.

Sorry that was a bit gloomy.

Had a lovely morning at a friends house. DD is asleep YAY.

Pinkyminkee · 14/10/2008 14:15

Sorry what is all this talk of garlic vaginas??? I missed this..someone please explain.

LackaDAISYcal · 14/10/2008 14:17

sparkletoes, I think it's just that time of pregnancy where they realise they'd better agree to everything or it's psycho fat lady with a kitchen knife time .

If there are any "way out there" name suggestions, past experience has shown that they will agree to anything post delivery when they are cuddling their newborn, in utter awe at your capabilities, and realising that the last nine months of earache were so, so worth it

LackaDAISYcal · 14/10/2008 14:18

pinkee, apparently tis a cure for strep B!

OP posts:
ruthosaurus · 14/10/2008 14:18

Pinky! Where and how have you been? You're a fab fabrics lady - any idea where I could get a liner for my moses basket? I have the padded bit from Claire de Lune but it's just the padding and not covered. I am thinking I may have to make one.

Anyone else got any ideas?

LackaDAISYcal · 14/10/2008 14:19

Random thought.......would garlic puree, applied liberally, do the trick as well? much safer than cloves I'd wager!

OP posts:
Pinkyminkee · 14/10/2008 14:20

quite right, lacks I wish I had a list of things ready for after DS was born, I could have got DH to agree to pretty much anything I asked of him! Not that I would be soo cynical, of course...

ruthosaurus · 14/10/2008 14:24

Okay, I'm going to start a new thread while I'm here, and I'm boringly going for the safe option so as not to offend anyone.

Here it is!

ruthosaurus · 14/10/2008 14:25

Also, holy crap, Lacks, how much would that sting!?

Pinkyminkee · 14/10/2008 14:26

OH I see...

Perhaps more of a home made garlic tampon affair? I can't believe I just typed that...

rutho I but most of my cloth from the US. How much would you need and what sort of thing are you after? John Lewis is actually very good for cloth. I don't kniw about where to buy moses basket liners as I don't have a moses basket. You are welcome to buy a bit of fabirc off me iof you give me an idea what kind of thing yuo want and how big a piece you need.

Pinkyminkee · 14/10/2008 14:27

I buy, not but, obviously..

sparkletoes · 14/10/2008 14:33

Yes I did actually consider that after I got my way with DS name on delivery table that a new carpet for the lounge may not be out of the question too...
