Hi MatthewAndBumpsMummy, welcome to the thread! I'm due 30th May and I think Doris and Jools are due around the same time too - it's so nice to have people to "talk" to who are at the same stage.

This will be my first baby. Sadly I had a miscarriage last year, quite early on. Whilst I was pregnant, I wasn't sick but felt nauseous a lot. This time, I've started to feel slightly nauseous already but I've got a new problem - trapped wind! It's really uncomfortable.

Anyway, I've been told that every pregnancy is different, so you might not get the sickness this time. It must have been horrible for you last time. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I need to improve my diet - not eating enough fruit/veg/pulses at the mo. I find sometimes I feel really hungry but other times I just don't care about food (very unlike me!) Any tips??

xx

Febes · 28/09/2008 13:17

Hi all this thread goes so fast I can't keep up. I have been sick the last 2 days so I guess MS has begun at about 8 weeks although it's afternoon sickness and seems to hit around 5pm. Its not as bad as last time yet and I think it started early last time too.

We went out for a lovely meal last night with DH and SIL babysat its the first time in ages since we did that we chatted and had such a lovely time but I threw everything up afterwards. If I'd known I would have had dessert!!

I have a slight cold at the moment so thats not much fun either but I can still smell like a blood hound DD nappy first thing this morning was gag inducing.

kjat · 28/09/2008 13:37

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind me joining the May club. I'm around 9 weeks with my third and the MS has been truly vile. However I woke up today and it was gone. Is this the real thing or will it return?

SpangleMaker · 28/09/2008 14:13

Hi all, quick post from me as I told DH I was doing the internet food shopping! Poor thing, I've been horridly hormonal and grumpy today.

Welcome to all the new joiners , feel free to add yourself to the list.

rubysmom (Ruby is a lovely name btw) don't worry about your friend, I'm sure she's really chuffed to have a close friend to go through pregnancy with who can advise her. I'm certain she won't feel 'overshadowed' in the slightest. I have a good friend at work who was the only person who knew we were ttc. I think she must've felt a bit awkward when she got pg with her 2nd before me (my first), especially as she hadn't even got around to trying properly and I'd just finished my 6th unsuccessful month. I'm just really glad I have a friend I can talk to about pg-related things and although she's been very laid back about her own pregnancy this time around, she understands how excited I am about things like having a date for midwife appointment etc (I know, I'm a bit sad!) which even DH doesn't get! I'm sure your friend is really chuffed to have someone to confide in.

Hope everyone else is ok and not too sicky.

What a lot of people due 1st May!

I guess some of those are going to be April babies ...

I really hope mine is born in May and doesn't keep hanging on in there until June. Last DD was two weeks late and I couldn't bloody bear it.

Jools1 · 28/09/2008 15:17

Pregnancy brain big-time ops: I just put a post on the old thread !! Carrying in the hormones theme of that post, once I'd realised what I'd done, that set the tears off again

MsG · 28/09/2008 15:24

I thought I was doing well emotionally, but yesterday and today I have been crying over the most silly things! How long does that go on for, anyone know? xx

SpangleMaker · 28/09/2008 15:44

Awww Jools Couple + technology + pregnancy hormones sounds like a total recipe for disaster!

Me + technology = ok
Me + technology + hormones = grrr
DH + technology =
Me + DH + technology + hormones =

Just done internet shopping and spent a fortune on soft drink type things - fruit juices, sparkling water, ginger beer etc. Probably not much cheaper than wine! However I'm getting a bit bored of plain old water all the time.

BubbaP congratulations and thanks for updating the list.

OP posts:
Jools1 · 28/09/2008 15:48

I'm finding cleaning windows somewhat therapeutic today - most unusual !!

I'm with you on the soft drinks Spanglemaker - have been wondering myself what more interesting drinks I can find.

Up to now, I've been happy with a little bit of fresh orange juice and water / fruit squash but am getting pretty bored now. I thought I might try sparkling grape juice and pretend it is white wine when DP has a glass with dinner

I have packed him off to the pub for a couple of hours so we can both calm down !

Bumpsadaisie · 28/09/2008 16:36

Hello everyone !

Could I join in? I would be due 28 May 2009 !! It's our first.

Still feels like something very hypothetical !! Can't quite imagine that in 8 months I'll have a baby if all goes well!

My symptoms so far have included having go to the loo a lot for a wee, combined with constipation! Also getting more hungry and more tired than usual. Also have sore nipples (as opposed to sore boobs, which is what I usually get just before AF).

Good luck to all!

Love Bumps x

Jools1 · 28/09/2008 16:40

saz007 · 28/09/2008 17:23

Hi everyone!!

Can I join in your thread please? I've been lurking for a while but thought I should make it official

My EDD is May 20 and it will be my first. It's still not feeling real. But I have an appointment with the midwife on Oct 6th, so hoping it will feel more real then!!

I don't have a lot of symptoms but I'm weeing loads!! Oh and I'm really tired too

ps hi Bumps

mootie · 28/09/2008 17:33

flippineck - Ginger pills are from Holland and Barratt. I've felt better since taking them, although it could be a coincidence. Much better than steeping fresh ginger in water, which I can't really bear. The pills give you gingery burps, though! As for B6, I have to admit that I have been feeling so vile that I've been taking the US dose, 100mg, for a couple of days.

As for snacks, Dandelioness, I made some flapjacks last week and they're fine, but I want to find something really light but that keeps me going. Trying clementines today, that seems ok. And I love avocado on oatcakes, will try that.

llareggub · 28/09/2008 17:45

Does anyone know if goats cheese is OK to eat? I really fancy it but can't remember if it is on or off the list. Oh, and smoked salmon too.

Blimey, I could recite the whole list of banned foods when I was pregnant with DS!

SpangleMaker · 28/09/2008 18:28

llareggub not sure about goats cheese - I think the key is whether it's pasteurised or not - does it say on the packet? I had some in a butternut squash/spinach/goats cheese lasagne (mmmmm...) but I figured it's cooked so should be ok.

I read somewhere that smoked salmon is off the list as it's raw. Have to say I've eaten it since being pg, couldn't resist the idea of smoked salmon & scrambled eggs for breakfast (mmmm again!).

Really hungry now!

Oh and welcome saz007

OP posts:
frazzledoldbag34 · 28/09/2008 18:31

llareggub - suspect no to the goats cheese as it won't be pasteurised will it? But yes to smoked salmon (at least I always eat it when I'm pg) - it's just sea food like prawns and mussels, clams etc that you shouldn't have I think.
mootie hello - have you noticed any improvement since taking the B6? Reckon the US dose must be ok, must it as they will sue for anything won't they? Have been taking 50mg today and last night, may up it again to try and feel better.
Have survived the weekend with DC's and without DH. Now just got to get up and organised in the morning for school which is always my worst time of day. DD2 has school photos tomorrow too so she's got to look even more well groomed than usual. Help! I just want to die at around 7am usually. Not get the hair straghteners out!
Welcome to the newcomers - congrats to all!
Have a good evening everyone. x

frazzledoldbag34 · 28/09/2008 18:33

By the way does anyone else feel sick when they need a wee, then feel better once they've done it? Or that just me being a weirdo?

runningmonkey · 28/09/2008 18:57

Hey ladies, just back from visiting Mum. She did clock something was up and since I felt awful all weekend I told her. As I thought she is totally over excited (first potential grandchild and all that). Kind of made me feel better which was nice.

I can recommend tesco value ginger nuts as a nausea stopper... not too healthy tho.

Hello to all the newbies too!

runningmonkey · 28/09/2008 18:58

ps thanks for the nipple shield advice too - will be off to the next website next!

agooboo · 28/09/2008 19:26

Welcome to all the newbies!

It has taken me about half an hour and two attempts to read the thread since I last read it and I'm still laughing at the knee hair 2beautifulgalsandabean

Did I read right that you can get a pregnancy test that tells you when you conceived?

Had a sickly trip to the supermarket today with DH and DS x2. Urgh the fish isle..cooked cickens....and then to top it all i picked up an egg box that had 2 cracked eggs in and just the sight off them made me want to hurl.
Anyone else craving oranges? I can't get enough of them.

As for healthy snacks how about
boxes of raisins/dried fruit
granola bars/cereal bars
grapes and chopped melon
weetabix - very low in cals and good for you but not really a 'handy snack' you can keep in your bag!

Going to attempt the gym after work tomorrow. We'll see!!

frazzledoldbag34 keep us updated with the B6 and if it helps or not.

Hope everyone is coping with the sickness.

agooboo

Nic13 · 28/09/2008 19:40

Hi

May i join too? I am Nic and i guess its now 9 weeks - due date is the 7th of may. its my first ... so excited. Had my first scan this week - i concieved through IUI so they check early that its not etopic. it was so amazing to see its heart beat ... really strong ... got another one in 10 days ... just hope the next 5 weeks and all the scans will be fine ...

Rubysmom08 · 28/09/2008 20:15

oooooooh there are lots of midalnds bird- I am in Solihull- hope everyone is well! I look 6 months gone, anyone else expecting their 2nd and massiveo already?

detsy · 28/09/2008 20:38

Hi girls

Am expecting second and tryin to breathe in all the time, jeans are already uncomfy and only coming up to 9 weeks this week. I think it has to be slack muscles ([shock} and i did so well with tummy last time) Think it will be a different story this time round - breathing in is exhausting! Am also breathless - god knows why its hardly as if anything is squashed yet!

Mega hormonal day - had big row with (D)H who was being a prat on the road and I ended up whacking the dashboard with my fist then bursting into tears Then i had to sulk for an age whilst he was trying to talk to me and I just wanted to smack him hard, oh dear...

Just packed up all my little size 10 clothes into bin bags (they were in the divan from my last pregnancy) and am giving them away. By the time I'm back to that size I won't want to wear them anyway. So now have lots of space and feel better for a declutter. Plus lots of hangers free for some oh so comfy maternity wear. Was still in PJs today when one of the neighbours (bloke) popped in for coffee and chat with DH. V embarassing as pg nipples were on red alert in skimpy pj top.

Just eaten a bowl of olives stuffed with jalapenos and now wanting chocolate nesquik. Was desperate earlier for a cream cheese and beetroot sarnie. So no real symptons still other than being shattered, ratty and weird food desires. Also dreamt that DH had Sh*agged becky off Coronation Street whilst we were away for the weekend and he refused to come for coffee with me, preferring to sit in a caravan and giggle with her.... maybe I am pregnant??!!

Right off to check DD - talk soon
x

llareggub · 28/09/2008 20:43

oh yes, rubysmom, I'm huge. In fact, I swear the day I found I was pregnant I looked at least 20 weeks. They do say with your second everything expands quicker.

It doesn't help that I'm ravenous, either, and eating like a horse.
