I had a big grumpy strop this evening about crumbs on the kitchen floor and DH not having put DD's dinenr things away. Shouted at DD to SIT DOWN as she kept getting up through her dinner. Feel guilty now, as was being rather unfair- DH tidies up the kitchen more than I do generally and DD was such a good girl today. But I turned into a complete hormonal bitch. After handing out a round of apologies, family stability was restored.

I always seem to feel better after 8pm at night - I get renewed energy. Same with last pregnancy.

Jools1 · 29/09/2008 22:17

I went to my Body Balance class tonight (Pilates / Yoga / Tai Chi) - forgot to put my sports bra on, so ended on the cross-trainer in a normal bra as I'd got the time wrong and was early, then had serious problems following instruction and working out what to do when told to raise left leg and right foot

Felt very chilled and full of energy by the end of it though

llareggub · 29/09/2008 22:28

Body Balance

I can't even summon the energy to get a glass of water!

Momino · 29/09/2008 23:15

Hi all, I'm never here anymore, do any of you know me?
was just away at in law wedding and had a tough time hiding my tummy, my lack of drinking, my tiredness, etc. i had an awful time! i was so irritable too - any of you like this?
still nauseous and the food I craved in the first weeks now make me sick (eg dime bars and ice cream, crisps and coleslaw). i can usually just stomach cheese on toast.

i'm also so stressed at work. have a home job that's meant to be 3 days but it's impossible to get the job done in that time and the pay is rubbish so am feeling a bit undervalued for the amount of stress the job induces. i've heard stress isn't good for pregnancy and growing babies to be so am trying my best to relax. would love to take a hot bath but am afraid i'll cook the little bean!

I've got my booking in appt with midwife on Wed. That will mean I can book my scan soon, eh? can't wait.

hope you all are well and bumps are growing. i'll try to catch up on the posts so I can get to know all the ones who've joined since I last posted (at least a week ago!).
night night. xx

inni · 30/09/2008 09:01

morning everyone
How are you feeling today?feeling a bit nauseous at the moment and have a terrible lower back pain. I didn't know anything about not be allowed to take hot bath during pg cos can harm baby in some way. I did during my two previous ones but I'm not doing it this time around just in case, tho they were so relaxing and take the pains away, I'll miss them.
Does any of you know if is recommended to use a hot water bottle during pregnancy? I'm not quite sure and think that can't but want to know for sure.
good luck to those with scan this week, fingers crossed for you.

Rubysmom08 · 30/09/2008 09:17

Hi inni- I suffered with dreadful sciatica dring my last pregnancy and they do not recommend anything heated unfortunately worst part of pregnancy I think! Had an awful sickness bug which I caught off dd and when I spoke to the doctor he told me that I had to 'ride it out' because of my condition!

I feel pregnant but no massive symptoms to speak of here. Saw the bean last Tues when it was 5+5 weeks and have another scan next wed to see the heartbeat etc, fingers crossed...

When I was pg with dd I craved salted popcorn and fruit pastel ice lollies went off chocolate really!

Anyone else getting leaky boobs already? stopped bf about 4 months ago (dd 8 months)- woke up this morning with patches on each 'area'?????

bantam73 · 30/09/2008 09:28

Morning every 1

I haven't posted for a while but I've been watching and reading.
I'm 9 wks now and we are still here. Had to go to doctors yesterday and we got some good news, I have asthma and have been put on a load of inhalers plus I have been given a 2wk sicknote so I can get it undercontrol.
Alot of people would be shocked about getting it but I have got it when I was preg with my 2 daughters so it's a good sign!!!!!!
My doctor says it common when carrying girls!!!!!

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 30/09/2008 09:30

morning all, ive still got a permanant headache all day and night making me feel really bad and tired!

DF got 3 days off work now which is nice looking 4ward to the help wiv DS as im just so tired its unreal, i went back to bed yesturday for a few hrs while DS was at pre-school and was still really tired all evening and was in bed by half 9!

trying to eat abit more healthliy now in hope its gonna give me more energy and help me feel abit better. still gonna have the crips and things if i really want then though!

hopefullypregnant · 30/09/2008 09:34

Hi everyone, I can't keep up! I sympathize with the nausea. I felt terrible at the 7 week mark, could hardly move head from sick bowl, but since then have managed it by eating little and often and - as I did with DD - sipping weak squash instead of water during the day. I've also got seabands.

DD is nearly 11 months and I am 9 weeks. Seeing mw for booking in today - went last week but because of the bleeding she sent me for a scan instead. DD is sleeping badly because a) she always does and b) she has a cough, so I'm shattered. Anyway I'm not eating very healthily, I'm eating what I can face, which is basically pasta and toast and grapes (exactly same as with DD).

How many others are still bf? I'm bf DD still and not sure if will wean her before lo comes along or not. Dont want to but will probably be deemed weird....

llareggub · 30/09/2008 10:00

Hello hopefullypregant, I'm still breastfeeding DS as well. I think I want to carry on, but thought I might leave it to him to decide. He certainly shows no sign of stopping and I've heard bf a toddler helps with supply in the early days.

aquababe · 30/09/2008 10:27

hmmm I'm not fitting into either camp.
I've been craving chocolate and salt and vinegar.
I've gone of cheese, which is a bugger for a veggie
didn't really have cravings on dd but needed to have ice all the time.

I avoid all hot things on belly during pregnancy as have had 2mcs and really don't want to do anything to risk this one. hot water bottles, cats, hot baths etc

jools i admire your ability to go and do exercise classes. I've so little energy by the end of the day i can just about make it upstairs to bed.

frazzledoldbag i'm thinking about a doula, but am down in kent. I just feel like dh was a bit too overwelmed last time and also we'll have dd so he'll be relying on grandparents to arrive in time. I like the idea of having some one who'll come when called too as he was 3hrs after I asked for him last time. Have you had a look at the [[http://www.doula.org.uk/utilities/userServices/search_regionsUK.asp doula uk website ]

MsG · 30/09/2008 11:40

I think the thing about hot baths is it raises your temperature which can be. Is it the same with showers? I'm guessing so. Found this on babycentre.co.uk: "However, you do need to be cautious about "hot" baths as there is little known about the possible effects on the blood flowing through the placenta or on the baby. If the water is too hot, you could also feel faint or sick, as it could lower your blood pressure a bit too much - not a good thing."

"Mags" and "Doris", I'm also a bit nervous after having miscarriage last year, and keep checking for pregnancy symptoms! I don't feel as anxious as I thought I would do, though. It's horrible about the innocence having gone, isn't it?

I hate reading how stress can be bad for your baby - who doesn't get stressed, ever?!

Finding the trapped wind a bit of a nightmare - it's stopping me sleeping sometimes. I'm taking Gaviscon but it doesn't seem to be working - I need to take more, I think as I've only been taking 2 or 4 a day.

MsG · 30/09/2008 11:41

I'm such an idiot - I used "" instead of asterisks there.

Jools1 · 30/09/2008 11:44

I've actually felt more of a need for relaxing baths recently than ever before

I have had two recently, but had them a huge amount cooler than normal. It isn't entirely satisfying as they are too cool after around 15 mins, but I am also terrified of doing harm to the bean.

As for lack of PG symptoms - I ended up doing another test this morning as I've had loads of energy, no nausea and no cravings / hunger

Had a lovely fat line come up even before the control line

However, next time I talk about lack of symptoms, could someone please cyberslap me very hard please ?! I now feel really nauseous again !!!

hopefullypregnant · 30/09/2008 12:02

I think nausea comes in waves sometimes Jools.. it does for me..

As for baths, I avoided them in first trimester with DD, then the midwife basically said don't be so silly; it'll do you good, so I'm not avoiding this time and didnt last time - just having them warm rather than hot, which isnt as nice, but better than nothing. I'm still having showers hot though - I can cope with dizzy etc; I just avoid heat near bump.

The stress thing seems to me like yet another stick to beat pregnant women up by! who wouldnt be stressed in the first trimester? My DD was very late and I was intensely stressed by the time she arrived, and she was fine!

Craving: salt and cheese!!!! well not salt on its own, but crisps, and then I feel sick if I eat them, but cheese on toast works for me. Fridge cold grapes work for me too, and ice pops...

Jennster · 30/09/2008 12:36

Feel really stupid. Went to bed last night with a focal migraine thinking I would wake up ok. Well I woke up in the early hours with a stonker of a headache. It just got worse, and then I got nausea and photophobia. Dh managed to get the dc to nursery and I rang NHS direct to found out what to do. They wanted to call me an ambulance. Anyway I went to AandE and spent a few hours there. Head got much better and finally stopped with the focals so they let me come home. At one point I was laughing my head off at the poor chap who was having his dislocated patella replaced. He was screaming like a loon.

Anyway, hot baths yes. Hot wheat bag on back for sciatica yes. Paracetamol yes.

Off to bed for some sleep.

Jools1 · 30/09/2008 13:12

Jennster - I've no experience of migraines and don't really know what the focal bit means, but that sounds very painful and scary

Hope you are feeling a bit better now

frogthistle · 30/09/2008 14:02

Hi, I hope I'm not the only one who can't keep up! Apols in advance!

Frazzledoldbag do look at doula.org.uk for general doula info but not all UK doulas are on there. It might also be worthwhile contacting your local NCT groups and/or HomeBirth Support group and asking if they are aware of anyone - quite often doulas advertise through them.

I live in surrey so I don't know anyone locally to you - you don't say where you are in East Scotland but the Edinburgh NCT groups should know more (if that helps) www.nct.org.uk and search by postcode. Try EH7 for central Edinburgh & see what comes up.

We had a doula for DD2's birth and she was utterly & completely wonderful. We gave DD2 her first name as a middle name in her honour to say thank you. She helped us both throughout the birth and in the preparation for it. I can only wholeheartedly recommend a doula's involvement. DH really enjoyed the birth as she was another specialist partner in the proceedings. Really important to meet, discuss things and know you're going to get on together though. I did speak to three before we choose her.

There are also separate post-birth doulas who offer support & come to that, there are NCT, La Leche League & Breast-feeding support network BF counsellors if you wanted specific help.

This time, she has very limited availability at the time this baby in due so I am investigating an independant midwife option to see whether that is a route we might want to take this time. I (& DH) know her personally so it would be someone close to me. More expensive though, c£3,500 versus c.£500 for the doula - I'm not sure we can afford it but the NHS options here are dire. Again, really important to do your research to ask the questions which are critical to you. I want a homebirth again (I hate hospitals & labour wards most of all after DD1's birth) so they have to be happy to support me at home etc etc.

Ask away if you have any q's & good luck.

FT (9ish weeks DC3 and knackered!)

divedaisy · 30/09/2008 15:11

Hi Gals!
feeling so awful. craving everything and yet eating makes me feel so ill. haven't been sick in a while, but this nausea is so draining! Hurrah for it - makes me feel the pea is OK. After ERCP in April I am pleased in feeling this awful...
So very tired too. bed most nights at 9pm or earlier if I can get away from DH's looks and declarations of 'surely you're not tired again!?'
Frazzled - like you - I work for myself although only have 1 DS. Do you have any staff giving you 'help'? I'm on my own... for now anyway, but will need to get someone. We will be opening up our shop in the next few weeks, which is exciting!! DH is other director of the company, but he works full time on top of his contrabutions! If I feel awful, it's very hard to go home and have a lie down. I had very bad PND last time which is a worry for me about getting back to work after this one is born. how's the anti ms bracelet - has it helped?

What does Vit B6 do for MS? My GP never mentioned anything about it at all. and normally she's very up to date with things.

I see my MW in a week - don't know if I'll get a scan then, but I reckon I'll be Consultant led cos I've a list of medical probs (heart, prolapsed discs in my neck) and had probs during first preg (SPD and pre-eclampsia).

I'm still fitting into my size 12/14 clothes during the day. But by night my belly is needing released! Boobs still achey too and HUGE!

I love hot baths. I had one back in March which triggered off bleeding. Don't honestly think it made me have an non-embryonic pregnancy as it would have happened anyway. During first preg I had hotish baths to help with SPD and lower back pain - I always was dizzy after.. but the hardest thing about them - I needed help to get out of the bloody bath!! i couldn't get myself out of it!! Ha Ha!! Not a pretty picture!!!!!

CoteDAzur · 30/09/2008 15:47

I might do another test tomorrow. Reading about all the terrible nausea and various other symptoms going around, I'm beginning to worry about my only two symptoms being: (1) BFP, and (2) no AF.

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 30/09/2008 17:14

being eating little and often today and feeling much better still got killer headache though!

MsG re: trapped wind i suffer badly wiv that and i find that windease tablets are a great help for discrete release and they are safe during pg as they dont go into the blood stream. they work a treat for me gaviscon never works wiv my trapped wind.

got really sore boobs still and one of them has been driving me mad itching today anyone else had this?

think DF is satrting to think he better prepare himself for a sexless nine mths i just haven't got the energy at the moment and headache dont helping either im hoping will get better after first few mths for his sake really!

being trying to spring clean flat at the mo wanna get it all done before im too ill and big to do it. not going to well though as no energy and feeling rough. gonna try the kitchen 2moro while ds at pre-school but not to hopeful!

Jools1 · 30/09/2008 17:17

I've been getting quite an itchy tum on and off - just above my belly button - wondered if that could be skin starting to stretch ?? Not an unpleasant feeling - quite exciting

Is anyone also finding that their hair is no longer blocking the plughole in the shower as nothing is falling out !!! I could never run a brush through mine without losing loads, but now it all stays put !!! I have shoulder length, very thick hair anyway so I guess it will be really thick at the end of 9 months !!!

runningmonkey · 30/09/2008 17:54

I've been ok today - little and often eating seems to be working for me too. Only felt rough this afternoon on way home.

Biggest worry/disappointment is that I have completely gone off chocolate... DH opened some last night and I nearly vommed from the smell.

SpangleMaker · 30/09/2008 18:49

Booked my nuchal scan today - 2 weeks tomorrow. detsy I'm going to the place in Stockport too, on your recommendation - in fact yours was the only recommendation, my GP, midwife and the nurse at the hospital had no clue whatsoever how to get one and suggested looking on the internet

Before I booked it all I was thinking was scan = (hopefully) seeing cute wriggly baby but now the worry is starting!

Jools not really noticed that with my hair yet, but as my hair's naturally fine I'm really hoping I get a long, glossy mane

Re doulas, can't decide, but I think not. Considered it, as DH is not very at all assertive when it comes to dealing with doctors etc and tends to forget details, and I don't want to stress him out too much by telling him he needs to do x,y,z; make sure this happens/that doesn't etc. But I think both of us may feel a bit uncomfortable with a stranger and (naively?) I wonder if having a doula would make it less of a shared experience between the two of us, with DH feeling pushed out. So will probably save the cash for other stuff.

Just ate half a large bag of Twiglets
