Oh star I so love reading your posts, and you are right - I will be really glad when you have your baby, but I do sense that that won't be the end of your concerns!

I will be asking for a sweep tomorrow whilst I'm at diabetic clinic. It didn't hurt at all last time I had one done, but also didn't bring on labour!

You can get several shows star. The total size of the plug is quite staggering. I lost a load several days before going into labour with dd, but whilst in labour the midwife showed me an enormous handful of gunk, and said that that was my show!

OP posts:
sambrads · 28/09/2008 21:11

pistachio i will sweep myself if they dont do it on thursday i cant wait til she comes i so dont want to get induced again i want to do it myself so if a sweep can help i will let them do it

i can refuse it and see what happens naturally but thats not going to happen .

csws when doc did an nternal this pregnancy she did a sweep and it was not sore but with ds the doc either had shovels for hands or really did touch my stomach

star6 · 28/09/2008 21:17

I love you csws. You should be a midwife or a doula.

Emmsy1 · 28/09/2008 21:25

ronshar glad someone else was asked to do swabs as was starting to get a little paranoid that it was only me (thought they were implying I probably have MRSA because I was strep B positive 2 years ago

star I only remember having a 'show' once amd that was when I was well & truly in 'proper' labour, nearly died when I seen the size of what had come out when I went to the loo, I had lots of blood in mine, thank god I was already at the hospital as I thought something was wrong, MW put me right and reassured me that it was only the 'show'have read that you can have a show as early as 6 weeks before you have your baby

forgive me all the ladies who have already had their babies, I didn't say a big CONGRATULATIONS please excuse my rudeness, I hope you and your little ones are doing really well XX

sambrads hope all goes well if you have started labourX

Honeymoonmummy · 28/09/2008 21:44

1sttimer, how are you feeling now?

Star, make the call if you want to, the worst that can happen is they think you're a paranoid 1st time mum and so what if they do?? (Spoken by a paranoid first time mum!! )

sambrads · 28/09/2008 21:50

has anyone else got really sore boobs???

i am having awful bh i feel like my belly is going to split open.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/09/2008 21:53

My nips are sore when dd is feeding Sambrads, but that's about it. Still not had any BHs at all, but only had a few with dd very late on too.

OP posts:
jenwa · 28/09/2008 21:57

star I had a slight show with DD on the tues and she was born the sat, I may not have noticed it only went for a wee and wiped and felt something stringy (sorry if TMI) and then realised what it was. It was reddy/brown. Not everyone gets them and if thats what it is baby still may not arrive straight away.

made malteaser cakes today, looking forward to them tomorrow Can you make them and then maybe add melted choc on top with malteaser on top too??? Thought that also may be yummy?? Maybe choc on top rather than in biscuit base? Someone made banoffe pie once and instead of digestive base used choc chip cookies. Ohhh its making me hungry thinking of it!!!!!

Baby is coming through my skin, I am sure of it! I think as my tummy muscles have come apart baby has more room and is looking like an alien, it makes me feel a bit funny seeing a leg move right across my tummy!

Back really sore again today, had to give in and take paracetamol, did mow lawn again fri and have had pain in groin too, was worried would not get out bath tonight (DH popped to pub so noone to even pull me out!) but managed ok. Sorry cant remember who said about having difficulty getting out bath after emptying water but it did make me chuckle as did that when pregnant with dd1! Def learnt from that lesson

So wonder how ajm is doing???

ajm200 · 28/09/2008 22:23

Hi everyone, wow you've all been very busy. No action here unfortunately. After 30 odd hours of contractions on Fri/Sat that seemed like the real thing. Increasing intensity, frequency, etc. They reached 5 mins apart then stopped and I've only had a few BHs since. Spent the day walking, shopping and making a little baby cardigan. If this LO turns out to be a boy, I'll have a few handmade girlie cardis up for grabs.

Star, don't worry so much. You and your baby will be just fine.

Right off to read page 9 now...

1sttimer80 · 28/09/2008 23:37

Hi all, just checking in.

Unfortunately, no contractions, no water breaking nothing... and the nauceous part has gone... kind of... so think it was a false alarm my end!!!

star6 · 29/09/2008 05:33

Thanks everyone for reassurances. I've stopped losing gross stuff and feel more "normal" this morning, so that's good.
ajm I'm so impressed that you know how to make a baby cardigan! Your children are very fortunate to have you for a mom.

I was just reading through and this is a bit funny, here I am, freaking out about signs, wishing they aren't signs and pushing them away and everyone else is embracing the signs of imminent labour and hoping for more! . I DO want the baby!! Just not at this moment. I'll be more prepared in 2 weeks

star6 · 29/09/2008 05:35

sorry, meant to write "mum" not "mom". Sorry.

ajm200 · 29/09/2008 06:30

Good morning. 1sttimer, It's a shame that it looks like a false alarm. You never know, it just be a slow start and something might happen over the next few days.

Star I know you are desperate to keep baby in for a while longer. I remember worrying about every little sign last time too. I think it's a first time mum thing, I was a bit panicky last time too, especially when the real signs of labour came at the end. I can remember bursting into tears at my mums because I just didn't want to give birth at all. It had seemed so easy to get baby there (I'm one of the lucky ones, I know some people try for ages) but the prospect of getting him out again seemed so daunting.
Last time DH was really interested and supportive. This time, he's completely useless. We stopped at Tesco on the way to the hospital to grab a few last minute bits after dropping DS off. I had a big, uncomfortable BH in the middle of the carpark that stopped me dead. He didn't even notice and kept walking. The trolley guy had to run and get him to come back to me . I think he's like this as I am so calm

This time I only worry about the MW visits and the threat of PE. I'll be so happy when I reach 8th Oct and can have a homebirth as I can just let labour progress without the worry of hospitalisation. I have a really strong, totally irrational fear of hospitals. With DS I was in labour, confirmed by the CMW but it stopped as we prepared to go to hospital. Very like what happened at the weekend.

I just feel a bit of a fool as I was struggling to cope with a toddler and how I was feeling and called DH home 15 mins early for a false alarm

ajm200 · 29/09/2008 06:33

Sambrads have you tried using the EPO capsules as pessaries? I think that is what got things going for me on Friday. OK mine were only BHs but they were so strong that they had me fooled.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/09/2008 07:41

Awwwwww - no babies overnight from anyone?

Nothing to report here, but just signing in as off to clinic this morning and then dashing about until mid-afternoon, so prob won't get on again til then.

OP posts:
star6 · 29/09/2008 08:02

I know! I was hoping for a baby announcement from ajm!
ajm is your DH just more stressed at work now or do you think he's just nervous about having 2 children and isn't sure how that will change things? Men can be really tricky to figure out and a lot of times their changes in attitude or bad moods or seemingly lack of interest can really just be them suppressing some feelings of anxiety? Or it's possible he's just being a d*ck.

sambrads · 29/09/2008 08:14

i got into bed last night and took really bad pains in my back they were coming and going every 15 mins for 2 hours and then they went .!! i was in agony defo thought that was it i was in labour as i had al my labour in my back with ds

feel like shit today to be honest had a wee cry to dh before he left for work. dont know how i am going to cope if i have to be induced again really wanted to do it myself this time and see whats it like to arrive in hospital already 5 cm instead of going in and lying there waiting on the pains to start

i think it so much worse as i know whats coming to me i will not want my dh leaving me at all as when he left me the last time the pains started 10 mins after he had gone and i had to cope by myself for 2 and half hours in pain

sorry for the rant i just feel so down today {{{{{{{{{{{{{{cry}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

ajm200 · 29/09/2008 08:19

The joys of parenting.. my DS has just told the postman 'I naughty, mum mum put Callum in bin' good job he's still under 2 and difficult to understand or I'd have social services here later..

I'd threatened to put him back to bed as he was whining so much...

bigmouthstrikesagain · 29/09/2008 09:09

Star I feel exactly the same I do not want baby to make an appearance for a couple of weeks either (due 16th Oct). I have had a few signs but with dd (no.2) I had a show/ bleed at 36 weeks and she still didn't arrive till 39 weeks - so I wouldn't panic you may still get a few weeks yet.

I have all the homebirth gear sorted though in case....

WombFor1More · 29/09/2008 09:16

Good morning!

Today is officially due day, wooohoooo

Nothing happening though and I am VERY glad! After dd being in hos fri/sat and still not being 100% now, ds1 has had a temp and headaches since Sat then wakes up at 5am today throwing up! Now is not a good time, grrrrr! It's just been one thing after another for the last 2wks. I'm hoping this little one decides to be a week late like his siblings. Now the wait for everyone else to be ill begins.......

Sambrands I'm so sorry it all came to nothing and you're feeling so bad. I have my fingers well and truly crossed for you that they all start up again for you today. At least it's a good sign that something is happening xxxx

Ajm at your ds!!! That's so funny. They just love to try getting us into trouble with the things they say

ajm200 · 29/09/2008 09:29

Sambrands. I'm so sorry that you've had another false alarm. They are mentally and physically exhausting aren't they... I really hope you avoid the induction this time.

I burst into tears too when DH had to leave this morning. I couldn't face the thought of the BHs kicking off again like they did on Friday and having to deal with them and DS on my own as I'm reluctant to call DH again in case it is another false alarm...
I couldn't walk when the last few happened and I know that DS will just take advantage and play up if it happens again. He unpacked all three of our bags on Saturday while I was dealing with BHs that were just a few mins apart..

The only good thing that came of this weekend is that DH has got the carseat down from the loft and ordered the buggy again to replace the one that we ordered weeks ago that hasn't turned up. DS and DH also went to buy a pressie for baby and came back with a really adorable dress and the tiniest baby shoes..

hedgepig · 29/09/2008 10:00

morning sambrads AJM I am exactly the same as you guys all weekend I have had back ache, strong BHs which just went on and on for hours but didn't go to the next stage. Sobbed of DH too I am not the most patient person in the world and I'm getting really fed up. The weekend would have been a great time for the LO to come cos we don't have to arrange getting DS to school etc.
I have appointment at hosp to book a repeat cs if I don't go into labor naturally....so no pressure there then! I will push for date as close as possible to 42 weeks, I'm not sure what induction options they have after a cs it seems to depend on the consultant and TBH I don't want to go there anyway.

rosebury · 29/09/2008 10:02

Morning ladies lots of bhs here but nothing else it all feels so near now my tummy will burst if I continue growing.

Sorry to those of you feling emotional crying is just part of this birth business we are going through massive hormonal changes but not much longer to go.

positive birth vibes see you all later an maybe bethoo will be back soon it is either labour or love that is keeping her busy.
