Hi everyone - can't keep up with you all but ocngrats to all the new arrivals, i hope you're all well.

Joe and are finally home. We've had a few eveings at home but had to stay in on Friday night as Joe very yellow - jaundice now ok but getting more anaemic so will need blood transfusion on thurs (just going in for the day). Its great to be home and ds1 very happy to see us both again. Just relaxing and catching up on mn whilst both ds1 and 2 asleep.

thanks ronshar - he's been moving off and on throughout the day. More lethargic than usual it seems, but moving nonetheless. Sometimes it's a bit painful, but nothing really crazy painful so I don't think they are contractions. I think I will call in the morning. There's no number on my notes... there's a big red stamp with my allergies to ibeuprofin and asprin, the name and number of my GP (old GP not the one I see now!) and other information about me... no hospital numbers.
Glad to hear waters breaking is more obvious than just increased urine. I think I'm prob just experiencing common 38 week symptoms and just so worried about going before saturday that I'm working myself up about every little thing. Yes, still anaemic. hb level dropped at last blood test 2 weeks ago, despite all of my efforts with iron tablets, floradix and iron rich foods (and not mixed with milk)

Congrats loulou and myjob so glad you are both home and babies are healthy and well. So lovely to hear you saying its wonderful and happy!! Everyone keeps saying how much work it is... how hard it is...etc. It's great to hear from you both! Keep telling us about all of the fun you are having with your new little bundles

sambrads · 28/09/2008 17:26

loulou and myjob i will hopefully be joining you soon although not sure if it will be on due date
glad you all getting on ok and not to tired

deo think we should start a postnatal thread when we all graduate

got my cream today so hopefully will be in less pain now

so os tired being up from 6.30 and running after 2 year old is hard work i have also cleaned the car and hoovered it brushed and mopped the house and done 2 loads of washing and still no sign of labour although i am a bit sore

star6 · 28/09/2008 17:28

yes, postnatal thread, but please keep posting after births for those of us in waiting - it is so encouraging hearing your stories!

Honeymoonmummy · 28/09/2008 18:29

Yeah, I'm not due till the 29th Oct ... Don't all leeeave meeee!!!

Star, it's unbelievable they've not given you direct numbers to call when you need to. The labour ward will still be staffed even on a Sunday. I also went in for monitoring the other day because I'd had reduced movements and they told me off for not phoning sooner!

star6 · 28/09/2008 18:44

Ok... I just lost more mucousy stuff.. more this time - it was like a whitish and clearish gel with a bit of a yellowish tinge. Is this ok or does it mean things are moving along more? I'm really sorry to keep asking this...

star6 · 28/09/2008 18:49

oh my god I almost vomited after seeing it... it was a big glob. No horrible cramps though - aren't you supposed to get horrible cramps? I know that a lot of you said it can still be weeks... that's really encouraging. But I want to know if that still holds true when you lost two bits in one day?

Thanks, pistachio I love the reassurance that MN provides!! What did people do before MN???

sambrads · 28/09/2008 19:15

star i ave also had a show today and starting to feel a bit more pressure and discomfort but i know this is not labour so am not panicking

put my cream on and i have relief think my bum is numb thank god

seen a girl today i seen last time i was in for check u and she has had her baby a wee girl oh it looks so lovely 2 kids i cant wait but i am a realist its going to be hard hard work

star6 · 28/09/2008 19:16

what exactly is a "sweep"? Is it just sweeping fingers in there? So, just wondering.. if my midwife examines me internally on Tuesday if I tell her about the mucous stuff, will that induce labour - won't an internal exam do the same as a sweep? I don't want that to happen. I just want them to leave it alone and let whatever is meant to happen happen... you know? oh goodness, so sorry!! You are all going to be so happy when my baby is finally out and I can stop asking all of these ridiculous questions!!

I blame NCT for only offering to book us a course TWO DAYS before my due date! No, it's my own fault for reading up all about pregnancy and babies and totally being in denial about the whole childbirth part!

star6 · 28/09/2008 19:20

yay sambrads!!! You're due this week, right?

Oh that's great!! Now I'm not even worried about the mw appointment on tues. Just have to master the art of not looking worried... as you can prob guess, that's going to be hard... lol

Where's bethoo and ajm? I wonder if they are having their babies? I hope bethoo is enjoying time with her new dp!!

1sttimer80 · 28/09/2008 20:07

Gosh so much is happening!!! Sambrads, Star6, bethoo, ajm?!!!

Can I add my two pence worth and just mention I have this horrible horrible nauseous feeling for the past couple of hours. I feel so rotten! I don't think I have had a show yet, but due this week.

Is it possible to go into labour without a show?

Honeymoonmummy · 28/09/2008 20:10

According to my antenatal classes at the hospital, the only definite symptom that you're in labour is contractions. A show, waters breaking, nausea, diaorrhea etc are all possibles only. So yes... Are you having any pains?

1sttimer80 · 28/09/2008 20:12

yep that's what I thought, but been having some discharge (sorry if tmi)... so not sure if I may have missed it... if that's possible????

after you've just said that a cramp has just started... but it's on the top of my bump and actually a little at the bottom.

4andnotout · 28/09/2008 20:12

I didn't have a show with dd1, the first thing that made me think i was in labour was i started to be sick and had diarrhea and then a back ache. My contractions started a few hours later. I did have shows with dd2 and dd3 but up to a week or so before they were actually born.

star6 · 28/09/2008 20:13

oh thank goodness.. no pains. Just baby moving in a weird way and a bit lower down movement.

1sttimer80 · 28/09/2008 20:16

ok will have to wait and see how things go... if I start feeling worse then will call in the labour ward and see what they think, although liklihood is that they'll probbaly not take me in unless watersbreak, or I start having contractions.

rowanmac · 28/09/2008 20:28

had a better day today so am cancelling hosp appt for tomorrow, cannot possibly justify asking for early induction when managed 2 hrs gardening. anything to bring it on, all I've acheived is a shrubbery with a scary haircut and a very sore pelvis. vomiting is getting silly now, threw up doing online tesco shop at thought of food, heaven knows what'll arrive.

For the first timers DON'T PANIC. you'll know if get proper contractions and you'll know if your waters go. Generally speaking if you think they might have, they probably haven't! If anxious though phone labour ward.

Aubergenie · 28/09/2008 20:29

I think you can go into labour without a show 1sttimer. The other symptoms do sound promising. How exciting!! I wonder if the others are in labour at the moment??

I've hardly had any BHs but I've developed shocking backache in my lower back this evening. I?m due on Tuesday so am desperately looking for any possible signs?

Star I?m glad the baby is moving well now, but I?m appalled that they don?t give you a number to call. My hospital make a big thing about calling if you've got any concerns at all even though they're always really busy.

sambrads · 28/09/2008 20:35

star i had sweep with ds it was painful i remember doc saying to me if you feel sick tell me and i will stop and i remember thinking why would i feel sick then e started and i thought he was holding my stomach !!! a sweep is when they stretch your cervix and sweep the bag of waters.

this is onl done if your over due or your cervix is favourable for labour .

you can say no if you dont want one done .

i will be getting one done on thursday if i dont go by then

1sttimer try to relax and wait and see if the pains come as i am kept reminded by my mu you will know when your in labour
( i am not so sure though)

star6 · 28/09/2008 20:38

Maybe my hospital will be more responsive now that I'm 38 weeks? When I called at 36 weeks they didn't want anything to do with me and had so many other things to deal with.

LOL rowanmac!! That's what DH keeps saying when I say, "feel my bump.... do you think that is a contraction??" he says, "from what I've read... if it's a contraction, you'll know it!"
I've been sitting here with DH in several bouts of tears and have NO IDEA what brings them on. Then, DH says, "what is wrong? you're breaking my heart!"... which, of course, made me cry AGAIN!!!

Strong labour vibes to those wanting them!!
