star mine also slowed down with a couple of weeks to go, although in the last couple of days has been moving loads and then gone back to not much again! i just put it doen to the position its in, like how engaged it is and so how easy it is for it to move. Having said that, if you havent felt it at all for best part of a day and cold sugary drink doesnt do anything, then yes you should phone and go in. With ds1 i stopped feeling movements at 40 weeks, went in was monitored and everuthing was fine. Then again at 41 weeks it stopped, just as i started early labour. went in and he was in distress, they broke my waters and he had pooed so he definately needed to come out! Try not to worry

Emmsy1 · 28/09/2008 08:08

leaking, not leeking!
csws I have bouts were the baby hardly moves and I start to worry, I quite look forward to bedtime though as this is 'usually' the time that I feel more movements than I do in the whole day!

MW appt for me tomorrow, must remember to use the swabs they gave me to test for MRSA, supposed to be routine now according to them! has any one else been given 2 swabs to rub up their nose & their groin area?

sambrads · 28/09/2008 08:16

emmsy have not heard of this at all???
maybe its a new thing they are starting ??

i too have been feeling less movement and my mw said that if i dont feel 10 movements or more to go straight to hospital and get scanned. i told her that i hate to annoy the mw at the hospital and she said thats what they are there for and i am at the end of my pregnancy and not worth letting anything happen at this stage .

heart burn and piles killing me this morning already its awful

ds up from 6 today so have done house work and tiding and now watching lazy town.

WombFor1More · 28/09/2008 08:47

ONE DAY TILL D DAY!!!

but he is bound to be a week late like the others lol!

Congrats to the new arrivals, can't believe we have so many impatient babies. Quite glad mine is laid back though. I simply don't have the time or energy to have a baby any time soon

Has been complete madness here for the last 2weeks. Firstly dd came out in chicken pox so had to have all bloods checked to check immunity, all ok though. Then after her being ill with that we then had her awake all night Thursday, she had woken up Thurs morning with a slight cough and cold so straight away I started giving her her asthma pumps. She is very prone to asthma at the 1st sign of a sniffle. By 10.30pm I was on phone to NHS direct who got local emergency doc to call me and she advised giving her 6 pumps every 4hrs, so no sleep for us then!! Still no better Fri morning so made her doc app for 9.30am. Doc said she far to wheezy, gave her steriod tabs to take immediately, should see significant improvement within 1-2hrs. So drop her at friends as planned under instruction to call us if she gets any worse. Off we go to our booked growth scan for this little one, or not so little one as we now know!!!

All looks fine at scan, he is measuring over 8lbs and she said by the loks of his rather plump tummy and very chubby cheeks we are en route for about the same size as dd, poop! (9lb 4oz) So much for my little baby then!!

So get back to find dd no better, ring docs at 2 who see her straight away. They send us to the very same hospital we have just left. Basically she's put on nebulisers every 2-4hrs throughout day and night, so yet more lack of sleep, they finally get her oxygen sat backto 100% by 11am Sat and say we can go home 4pm that afternoon.Phew! Very scary I must say. She is still pretty wheezy and is having meds every 3hrs but hopefully she'll be fine asap

Then I get home to find out my ds1 is ill!!! I think someone has it in for me

Sooooo nothing has been done now that we had planned for our "last" weekend. It's ds1's birthday Thurs so was supposed to have gone and got all his pressies Sat, oops. Hopefully can go later today if dp can finish work early but hey these things are sent to try us!

Btw to any 1st time mummies to be, welcome to the very real world of parenting

(Sorry for the essay )

star6 · 28/09/2008 09:54

Thanks csws plusone and emmsy!
I've finally felt a little slow wriggle.. it's like he's more lethargic now or something. And I think I felt some hiccups as well... some sort of rhythmic light thump for a minute or so.
I've been going to the toilet a lot and now I'm thinking it's just because i'm nervous. I really want the whole 2 weeks until 40 weeks!! I'm 38 weeks today. I just had a little bit of discharge that looked like something that would come out of your nose with a bad cold (but it was only a little). I think I'm just getting nervous. I want him to stay in there for 2 more weeks!!!

star6 · 28/09/2008 10:06

ok the greenish snotty discharge was just a bit smaller than a 50p piece if it were to be rounded (of course didn'tcome out round)... I'm losing my head here, please tell me this isn't the mucous plug. please!

Alexa808 · 28/09/2008 10:09

Oh how exciting, we did make it to a new thread. Thank you CSWS!!

Just a quick update: I have had my last scan last week and am booked in for CS on Thursday the 2nd of October here in Asia.

Am really nervous and scared if everything will be alright with her. Have had freaky dreams and my mood hasn't exactly been bright & sparkly. The doc will also take the cyst out and I'll be under a general straight after baby is lifted out. So I'll see her for a minute & then get knocked out.

Alexa808 · 28/09/2008 10:11

Hey star, how are you? Not sure about mucus plug. Could you call out of hours line to midwife?

jenwa · 28/09/2008 10:12

wombfor1more oh no, poor you and your family, I hope they have all recovered now, good job baby never decided to make an appearance too, that would have been kaos!
I hope you manage to sort b'day pressies out. Do you know what to get?? I ordered DD's from Early Learning (went in to shop) on the fri and they were here on the monday! So just a thought if you did not want to leave the house and knew what you needed. Also my Sis in law ordered hers and got next day. NO garauntee it may come next day but saves carrying bulk about town and you get to stay in the house, although maybe you would like to excape for a while after your events!!!
Glad your baby is well and [ouch emotion] at weight!!!

star hope all ok. Glad you have had some movements. Try couting today and see how they go but I am sure the MWs would not mind if you went there to check. Baby was prob just very comfy and sleeping

I am still in PJs. DD was stroppy yest and put it down to tiredness so she slept in til 8:30 so we all had lye in and DH has gone in to work and we have just eaten brekkie and are having a lazy day . sambrads going to make those malteaser cakes today, you are soooooo bad putting that receipe on here, making us all have to make them Feel free to keep adding chocolate cake or any cake receipes . Oh sambrads sorry just seen you been up since 6!! Me boasting about my lazy day

star6 · 28/09/2008 10:17

I don't even know if such a line exists. Maybe I'll wait until tomorrow morning when the GP surgery is open. I have an appointment on Tuesday with midwife (it's the only day she goes to the gp surgery).

it's a bank holiday weekend??

4andnotout · 28/09/2008 10:34

Morning all
DD1 DD2 both have a vomiting bug today, i have an ironing mountain to tackle before i can unpack the baby clothes for ironing and putting away.

star6 · 28/09/2008 10:39

So sorry to hear about your chaotic weeks, womb!! I hope things settle down for you soon especially with the new LO... or not so L one
Does everyone here iron? Maybe it's a british thing... everyone seems to iron everything. The only thing we iron are DH's work shirts and trousers. We must look a wrinkly mess!!!

rosebury · 28/09/2008 10:43

Oh star big hugs luvvy I am sure everything is ok your baby will come when it decides to it will not do you or baby any good to be tense and stressed all day if you are not feeling ok then pop in and get checked or do something today that will keep you busy and take your mind off the worrying you need to find some relief from this anxiety one way or another. good luck with whatever you decide to do.

wombf1more what a weekend you have had I hope that the children aare ok now and that you can find some time for yourself today to put your feet up or have a nap, is there someone who can take over for a while to give you some space otherwise you might end up being the next one to be unwell. take care.

i am now in my final week what a year it has been so looking forward to seeing my new baby I held a friends baby the other day he is one month old and 9lb 11oz he was lovely and so wide awake looking around everywhere his little mouth rooting for milk he smelt so nice gosh I will stop now .

There is a fab new shopping centre opened here in Bristol and i am going to see it later wont be able to shop as i can hardly walk but I am so excited about all the new shops i just want a little visit to take in the atmosphere.

have a good day everyone.

star6 · 28/09/2008 10:54

rosebury, your description of holding the new baby has really calmed my nerves. No matter when he decides to arrive... that's the end result and how lovely that sounds Shopping sounds like a good idea. We just got £40 in John Lewis vouchers, so that's a good excuse!!

sambrads · 28/09/2008 11:04

star try not to stress honey as long as you have fely your baby then everything will be ok as for your snot like mucas it does sound like a show but it does not mine the baby is going to come now !!

i had a show 2 weeks friday past and still no baby i also had an internal a week and a half ago and doc said i was 1-2 cm dilated and still no baby so dont panick .

your wee man will come when he is ready and he will feel your stress if you stress

womb41 god love you there is nothing worse than having ill kids you just want to take all there pain and sickness and watch them running about

going to head out walking today not sure if it will be good for the piles but i do intend on buying germoloids cream this afternoon before i go
betho do you use this cream ?? i have got anusol and everyone says its crap???

Aubergenie · 28/09/2008 11:18

Star ? I asked the midwife about movements last week as I felt that they?d changed a lot and they just seemed to have slowed down. She said that once the head is engaged the baby doesn?t move as much. As long as you?re getting I was still getting at least 10 every 12 hours then not to worry. Like Emmsy says, maybe it?s an idea to note all the movements down today, just to check. Just tick on a sheet each time you feel the baby move. I find that when I?m not doing anything, I?m aware of the smaller movements so much more than if I?m busy. But do call the midwife if you?re still worried. They really won?t mind.

BTW ? I?m British and I hardly iron at all!

Wombfor1more ? Sounds like you?ve all had a pretty awful time recently. I hope you get a chance to rest before your LO makes an appearance.

Does anyone know how much babies grow at this stage? Two weeks ago at my growth scan (38 weeks) they estimated he was around 6lb 4oz I was just trying to work out what he?ll be now.

star6 · 28/09/2008 11:20

oh that's good news! Thanks sambrads. is it true that there is more risk of an infection after mucous plug is lost? I'm certainly not going to have sex, so no worries there, but any other things to avoid, like baths?
by the way, that looked totally gross. I thought it was supposed to have brown or blood in it. It really looked like something from my nose during a bad cold.

star6 · 28/09/2008 11:23

lol aubergenie about the ironing! Glad to hear it. I blame the media for that stereotype. DH and I always see it on TV (especially reality shows like wife swap ). It seems like people iron everything... so we thought we were just lazy americans, not ironing

sambrads · 28/09/2008 11:27

i am 2 days off due date and dont feel like hugging husband never mind sex

i have been taking baths so dont think you should worry about infection i think you only worry if waters break

i asked the doc about my show and she said that not all shows have blood in it only some. it is totally gross but lets us know that babies will be coming soon!!!

cant believe that tomorrow is the offical first due date for some of us its all so exciting !!

i would love to meet my wee woman now but afraid of pushing my insides out as well
hate the thought of what the mw will see if i do need sweep on thursday although im sure she has seen it all

star6 · 28/09/2008 11:32

Good luck sambrads! Fingers crossed for an arrival soon for you - I'll send any crampy feelings or feelings of imminent birth your way!!!!

Honeymoonmummy · 28/09/2008 12:05

Thanks Plusone.

Star, if you ring your hospital you can speak to the labour ward if you're still concerned. They're really nice at my hospital and don't mind you ringing at all.

Good luck Sambrads!

star6 · 28/09/2008 12:16

Wow honeymoonmummy - which hospital is that? I've only tried to call mine a couple of times before but they are never very friendly and always busy and i'm just passed off to someone else... then to someone else... to someone else.. never really getting an answer. So sundays are a bad day for any concerns I'll wait it out until tomorrow... I'm in denial about birth anyway, so should be ok if we go shopping

ronshar · 28/09/2008 14:00

Star. On your notes should be a contact number for the labour ward/delivery suite. If you are even slightly concerned about reduced movements then you should phone them and they should get you in for a little bit of monitoring. I did this last weekend. I went in on sunday evening after I had put the girls to bed and I sat on a bed attached to the monitor for 25 mins and then the baby danced a little jig and they threw me out again. The midwife told me to never hesitate to phone if baby stops moving as this is classic sign of fetal distress.
However. Dont forget you are a very busy lady, you had a very late night on Friday! If you get tired remember baby gets tired. Are you still Aneamic? Also, if mucus you saw was your plug, your body keeps producing it to protect your cervix. So dont worry too much. It is only infection risk if your whole waters break and you are walking around for a couple of days before labour starts. Look out for a warm bucket of water down your legs, you cant miss it

Sambrads. I am really pleased you got your wish for DS birthday party. I hope you can relax a bit now and prepare for your DD

Wombfor1more. What a nightmare for you. And add in a big baby. I would have taken to my bed by now

Emmsy, I had swabs of nose at 36 weeks. It is so they can treat you for MRSA before you enter hospital and spread it to the baby. If you have it obviously!!
Hope every one else is healthy and well today
