Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lozza70 · 27/09/2008 14:11

Hi everyone I've been very quiet recently as our baby boy Sander arrived on Monday 22nd October at 14.44 weighing 7lb 5 oz by emergency c-section. I was supposed to be induced on the 23rd but was straight into hospital on the day I finished work due to raised blood pressure and high levels of ALT's from the liver. I will post the full gory details on the birth announcements topic as I don't want to put anyone off We were just released from hosp yesterday and are enjoying our first day at home. Will post pics when I have a mo.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/09/2008 14:21

Congratulations Lozza!

OP posts:
Lozza70 · 27/09/2008 14:22

CSWS for the purpose of list updating his full name will be Sander Gene

07mumstheword · 27/09/2008 14:32

Congratulations Lozza You didn't get much of a rest between finishing work and having your little one though You wrote you had him 22nd Oct but I'm assuming it was 22nd Sept? We completely understand pregnancy/post pregnancy brain Hope you are enjoying your first day at home.

Lozza70 · 27/09/2008 14:56

Oh yes 22nd Sept, post preg brain in full force here . Loving being back at home and just working out all this baby stuff....and doing all the things I should have been doing at the start of my mat leave. Need to rest though as stitches are still in and blood pressure is still up but on meds and I begged the doctor to let me out of hosp yesterday.

To all the other first timers on the thread it's just wonderful meeting your baby for the first time.

Sander has a proper old man face and really looks like he has been here before and I think he is too cute for words. Proud Mum alert

07mumstheword · 27/09/2008 15:14

I've read your labour story and checked out your pictures What a wonderful time (now not the labour!) and so lovely to see your little boy in your arms

Aubergenie · 27/09/2008 15:57

Congratulations Lozza! I just read your birth story - sounds like you had a tough time, but what a sweetie. I bet you're enjoying being at home again.

ajm200 · 27/09/2008 17:11

Congratulations Lozza I'll take a look at your birth story in a bit.. He's gorgeous!

ajm200 · 27/09/2008 17:16

Hi everyone. Things picked up again at lunchtime, suddenly went from 25 mins to 5. Had us scurrying around to get everyone and everything into the car. Then after 20 mins they stopped, luckily just before I made a fool of myself at the hospital

Looks like she is too comfy by far.. Been for two long walks and have had a few really strong contractions but nothing regular or sustained so looks like we start the waiting game again

i am due tuesday and if nothing happens i will be going for sweep on thursday dread it already

pingviner · 27/09/2008 19:07

congratulations Lozza! hes beautiful

What are you meant to do with all the hang time while youre waiting... suggestions please as I'm really getting bored!

(for thread update purposes - glasgow, baby likely to be a boy, may or may not be penguin )

ajm200 · 27/09/2008 19:44

Sambrads Don't think theres much you can do before the baby is here as pushing makes them worse. You could try rubbing them with a slice of lemon after you go to the loo. It will sting but does shrink them. You could try the cooling/healing pads that I posted about on the last thread.

rosebury · 27/09/2008 19:48

cONGRATULATIONS LOZZA HOW FANTASTIC TO BE HOME WITH YOUR NEW BABY BOY I AM SOOOOOOOOOOO JEALOUS sorry for caps

I am feeling much better today i think that I had a tummy bug it really was quite scarey because i felt so unwell, anyway have slept lots today and feel much better.

I cannot remember who has said what as this thread has moved so quickly ajm sorry it wasnt the real thing this time but i think that most of us will have a similar experience before giving birth false alarns are common.

positive birth vibes to everyone who wants them i know that there are quite a few of us now who are ready to pop it is a strange feeling though being scared and excited at the same time.

fingers crossed ladies.

4andnotout · 27/09/2008 20:01

Congratulations LOZZA i have had my hair dyed today so feel a little less frumpy, im 26 yet have the hair of an old lady loads of grey hair always sticking out!
Im really looking forward to ditching the maternity stuff, last time with dd3 i was back in my normal clothes within 2 days and im hoping it will be the same this time! See there is a few positives with being a plus size mum!

sambrads · 27/09/2008 20:30

ajm thanks i have cream but not sure if it is working

i have really restless legs tonight and am wrecked running after 15 kids think this one is afraid to come now after all the shouting

Honeymoonmummy · 27/09/2008 20:44

Thanks for adding me on CantSleep. I didn't see that you said what you were expecting, I'm expecting a girl

Plusone - I thought it was braxton hicks myself but the midwife said braxton was more of a tightening across the whole stomach area. I've hardly had it today, so who knows?

emkay · 27/09/2008 21:35

Congratulations Lozza! We shared a due date so I'm particularly pleased you have your LO happily at home now .
Braved IKEA this afternoon and was stunned how many parents were there with really tiny babies. So much for my argument that we had to go now or not for the next year because we wouldn't feel like it!
All well and just ticking along here. Beginning to believe that the baby will actually stay in for the whole 40 weeks - just so much more comfortable now than a week ago. Can't say I'm wishing the days away because DD is being very clingy and we all have colds so I feel like I need as much R&R as we can get.

plusonemore · 27/09/2008 22:48

it is definately a tightening honeymoon but its also quite an odd feeling- fine tend to be just across the top of my tummy

plusonemore · 27/09/2008 23:16

umm mine not fine

just a bit of reassurance needed...
yesterday, last night and now this morning the baby's movements have become much slower. That's the only way I can describe it, just slower, not the active little guy he usually is at all. I haven't felt him all night, so of course I'm up at 5.30 on a sunday in a panic that he's not moving still. I drank a cold glass of water and tried pushing him around. I only felt some little movements during the day yesterday and not the usual wriggling before bed. Should I call the hospital? It's a sunday, so not sure who will be there.
Also (sorry if tmi) I'd know it if my waters broke, right? I've been having very small amounts of urine when I go lately and this morning woke up early with urge to pee, went to the toilet and did a lot more than usual, but not more than usual if not pregnant iyswim.
sorry for long rambling post...

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/09/2008 07:49

Hey star - I understand exactly what you mean by slower movements. I was worried yesterday because I'd hardly felt ds for a day and a half, and when I had the movements had been tiny and slow rather than his usual wriggles and big stretches. Thankfully he eventually had a bigger wriggle during dinner last night, but if he hadn't then I think that I'd have been calling the hospital today to ask for a bit of monitoring.
If you are really worried then it doesn't matter about it being a Sunday - there should still be people about who could stick you on a monitor for a bit.
Have you tried having something sweet to eat, or a strong coffee/coke, to see if he reacts to that?

As for waters, you'd certainly know if your main ones went, but wouldn't necessarily if you just had a leak in your hind ones. If you did though, they wouldn't confine themselves to just leaking when you are going to the toilet - you'd find you had damp knickers all the time.

OP posts:
Emmsy1 · 28/09/2008 08:00

star it is quite usual for the baby's movements to slow down a little as the baby grows and the space for it lessens. You should still be able to count at least 10 kicks/movements a day though so probably best if you record how many kicks you feel today, and take it from there, no harm in popping to GP tomorrow if you are still concerned. Your waters are not supposed to smell like urine, when I pee it always feels as though I've got loads to expel but only tiny amounts come out, obviously there is more in the morning cos I haven't been for a few hours, I'm sure you would know if it were your waters leeking and not urine
