usuallytooshytochat · 07/10/2008 20:39

Hum. 18 pineapples - I can't even face the one I have sitting in a fruit bowl - its not very ripe and will give me heartburn.

today was not a great day - my brother managed to upset me, trying to guilt-trip me into having him and his kids round for the afternoon - when all I want to do is sleep.

and have 41 week appt tomorrow, don't know what the policy is with inductions in my area, so don't know what to expect. Maybe just a sweep? Not sure what I will do if they say 'stay in'!

pepperrabbit · 07/10/2008 21:20

usuallytooshy unless there's a complication I don't think they normally keep you straight in at a routine 41 weeks appt - they may book an induction but I'd expect at least 24 hours notice!
07MTW sound hopeful! but I've had those exact things for about 3 days now every evening and then it comes to nothing
so don't take my word for it! I've only ever been induced so spend my time wondering if this "is it" and this is No3....

plusonemore · 07/10/2008 22:20

jenwa hospital was great, much cleaner than last time dont think i've brought home any bugs!!!

Aubergenie · 07/10/2008 23:06

I've just got back from the hospital and haven't had time to catch up with the thread yet. Had a baby boy on Saturday night. Stanley, 7 lbs 12oz. More details to follow. I just posted this question on childbirth but want to ask you ladies too.

I just checked his nappy and inside was what looked like a small amount of blood, kind of pinky colour. It looked like it could have been wee'd out, as there were no stools in the nappy. He then did a poo that was brown and seemed normal, no blood there. He seems fine, doesn't appear to in any discomfort and is feeding well. He's been weeing normally up till now.

I've called NHS Direct but won't be getting a call back for a couple of hours so could really do with some advice or reassurance.

Has anyone heard of this before? Obviously I'll be getting it checked out ASAP but I'm wondering whether I should be taking him back to A&E or something tonight.

Aubergenie · 07/10/2008 23:38

Panic over! I've been reassured about the nappy on the childbirth forum. Now I can sit down and catch up with all the news ...

ronshar · 08/10/2008 00:35

Ladies I think my time has arrived. Been getting what I thought were the usual nothing since 11ish. Went to bed and soon realised that they were still coming. At first it was 15mins. Then 10, now about 5! I have put on the trusty TENS. I had forgotten how great that feels. DH has flu so no help! Bloody typical.
I am going to phone hospital as I need to find out if community midwife is on! Scared if no midwife. I want to stay at home.

ronshar · 08/10/2008 00:42

No midwife on duty. Fuck and Bollocks. I have to go in. Ouch I had forgotten it hurt.

07mumstheword · 08/10/2008 04:23

Ronshar You are probably in by now so good luck. Me too I forgotten how much it hurts! Good luck

My contractions are really sporadic anything between 15 mins and 2 mins. I'm at home really want to phone my Mum to come and look after DD so I can go to hospital but trying to hold on until 6am. DH has just said can't you wait until MW appt tomorrow which is 11.15, no I bloody can't!

Just had a 4 min contraction only 8 mins apart maybe I shouldn't wait

07mumstheword · 08/10/2008 05:36

Contractions more regular, phoned hospital and they said to go in so called Mum to take care of DD. Will update you when I can.

4andnotout · 08/10/2008 07:38

Oh how exciting ronshar and 07mumstheword hopefully you will both be holding lovely little babies this morning

perkypopsy · 08/10/2008 08:25

Morning ladies

Ronshar asked me to post her news

Baby William Dexter born 2.54am, 7lbs 11oz

Mum and baby both well

She's staying in hospital today as meconium in waters - will be tonight hopefully

What a fab start to the day...looking forward to news from MTW07

Am planning a LONG walk - if ronnys is baked then mine should be too yipeeeee

sambrads · 08/10/2008 08:56

congrats to all the new babies cant believe how many of us have had our babies in the space of a week just shows it only takes one for us to all follow

to all the ladies who are over due i feel for you all i know what its like all to well keep your chin up

brooke is doing really well she is in a 4 hour routine and is taking 4oz of milk which is great i cant stop looking at her and i am buying pink like its going out of fashion

ds loves her he holds her hand when she cries and sits with her beside her bouncer and talks to her it really is heart melting business

jenwa · 08/10/2008 09:43

ronshar congrats really pleased all well and a quick birth

07MTW Good luck, hoping all ok. as you are my due date buddy!!!!

usuallytooshytochat · 08/10/2008 09:53

It's a joy to see all the babies being born - congratulations ronshar Being overdue can feel a bit like baby is never coming! Especially since I haven't had much in the way of BH or anything. I feel less pregnant now than I did a month ago. I'm sure you're right pepperrabbit - it would be a bit unexpected to suddenly say you're being induced tonight, but with ds1 I was admitted early and induced, so don't have much faith in my intuition!

Pidge · 08/10/2008 11:14

Congrats to all those with new babies.

And sympathy to those overdue. I'm now 11 days over, but ... for the first time, there has been some sign that baby might emerge. From 4am to 6am I had very mild contractions every 15 minutes, and a bloody show. Lovely. Of course everything has stopped now, but I'm going for a walk to see if that will help.

And dp has started his paternity leave anyway, even though I warned him it could be days till the baby actually comes. He gets 2 weeks, then will be back at work for 3 days, then it's half term, so pretty ideal really. He's downstairs fiddling with the birth pool .

Bit of a treat to have some time with him before the baby arrives, as both girls are at school or with the childminder.

hansnava · 08/10/2008 11:48

hi all.
im determined not to moan today

just wondering did ne one who has had their lo feel really wet before they went into labour. i woke up this morning and i feel like i used to before i'd start my period(achy belly and more discharge then normalbut not a show ,generally feeling wet but not as in waters gone) sorry tmi.

star6 · 08/10/2008 12:47

Congrats ronshar where's csws?
did I miss her baby?
Having a really, really, really difficult time with breastfeeding... had two midwives and a breastfeeding counsellor over so far and still excruciatingly painful latch. Baby has a very little mouth and even if I put more of my nipple in, he still wriggles until he's got just the little part he likes in his mouth.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 08/10/2008 12:51

huge congrats ladies with babies, how exciting! still 2 weeks til due date here, waiting back on phone call from a different community midwife team in the hope they can take me on at this late stage because my midwife team only ever has one midwife on call for homebirths

SmudgeyDoodle · 08/10/2008 12:57

HI ladies. Just typed quite a long message and then computer froze and I lost it all. Off to check CSWS thread and then will report back.

rowanmac · 08/10/2008 12:59

Well done ronshar thats what I want to hear, quick deliveries. Congrats aubergenie. Glad baby turned ajm all these complications must be worse when you want a homebirth.

Cried all over DH last night and kept both dinner and maltesers down. DS now has a cold and fell off sofa as getting ready for nursery (he was standing on his head while I put his shoes on, makes perfect sense if you are 3 I suppose) and smacked his head off the coffee table. I've just been emotional Mum at nursery and teacher loooked at me like I was daft for suggesting she could phone if he wasn't happy. I've now got to drive to a MW appt (I've not been in the car for a week, gives me sciatica)when all I really want to do is go to bed. There'll be nothing wrong and i'm sure any mention of vomiting or pain is just background noise to them now. I think I should change my nickname to 'cantcopewontcope'

SmudgeyDoodle · 08/10/2008 13:07

Ok girls. DS just woken up so not going to get chance to post individually again. Checked CSWS thread from yesterday and still no baby. At 11 am she wasn't much further in dilation from last night so was waiting to see consultant. She's obviously keeping up with this thread though because says congrats to Ronshar and somone else (sorry can't remember )
Ronshar I hope the birth was ok - certainly very quick - even if not at home. Hope you get home this afternoon. 07MTW hope your mum arrived in time. Sounds promising Pidgin - just a swim in the birthing pool this lunchtime?
Star sounds tough about the BF. Don't be afraid to keep asking for support. It's not that your boobs are too full for him is it? I know with my LO if they were too hard, he couldn't latch on well so I used to express some off first by putting a warm towel on and then just squeezing a bit.
Big hug Rowanmac, sounds like you had quite a morning. Hope MW appointment was ok and sciatica keeps away.
Phew, DS gone quiet again so did manage to post - sorry for ramblinG!

bethoo · 08/10/2008 13:22

star keep perservering i thought the same with my dd as she has a little mouth and as i have massive nipples as pointed out to me on several occasions. it was even worse as i became engorged so could not even see if i was putting her on properly. 4 days later and she is latching fine. if your lo does not latch on right take your lo straight off then try again. it will work out.

i had mw round yesterday and my uterus has contracted back down already .that will explain excrutiating pains when bf! and me and new dp are already at it since night before last. feels good not to have a bump in the way!

congrats to all the new babies and mummies. cant keep up at mo with having toddler and newborn!

star6 · 08/10/2008 13:27

just wondering... does it always hurt just a little to bf? or should it be comfortable at some point?
Really curious about csws!!!

emkay · 08/10/2008 13:47

It will feel comfortable star be rest assured. And it is completely normal that it doesn't when you start off because both you and LO are learning. I'm sure you're getting lots of good advice from your MWs and the counsellor but just keep asking for them to watch you latch baby on so that they can make sure you are doing that bit right. And make sure you use your little finger to break suction when you take baby off so that he doesn't pull on the nipple. La Leche League should be able to help too. Take each day one at a time. Good luck!!

many congratulations aubergenie and ronshar - fab news.
