Morning all, congrats plusonemore & mrsBish babies thick and fast now!
ajm good luck this afternoon, hope baby behaves - and your blood pressure drops a tad!
No action here , still just period pain backache and occasional cramps.
keeping an eye on emkay - my due date buddy!
I rang work this morning to see how they're getting on (I work in corporate lending so you can imagine the response! ) and all I got was - "haven't you had that baby yet???"
I would have mentioned it if I had...

Pidge · 07/10/2008 11:49

Oooh congrats MrsBish. How exciting.

I just had a call from dp at work, who is obviously bored with the waiting and was convinced he would be on paternity leave by now! Must confess, I was happy for the baby to not appear till 41 weeks, like my other two, but am definitely ready now. Come on bump!!

mumstheword - for the first time today my lunchhour swim is taking serious will power!! But I know I'll enjoy it once I'm in the water. As for the knitting ... that's just an excuse to sit down and not do much! Perfect.

SmudgeyDoodle · 07/10/2008 12:17

Congrats on all babies - there are some really lovely unusual names. We still haven't got a clue what we are going to call our LO but are hoping for inspiration when we see him/her. We finally got a double buggy on Sunday so now starting to feel more organised.
Pidge at least you know you're not going to be the last one on this thread. Very impressed with your activities. I'm not even due for another 2 weeks and mostly seem to be entertaining DS with CBeebies!
Must go and do some ironing whilst he's asleep though. Will log on later to hopefully see news from CSWS, ajm with a head down baby still inside etc etc

tedmundo · 07/10/2008 13:26

ajm - good luck with the ECV. I had it done last week and it was painful, but bearable. Over in about 15 seconds and consultant managed to turn him/her on the first try. It is worth a try to avoid the c-section and get the homebirth you so clearly would love. Will be thinking of you.

Pidge · 07/10/2008 14:23

smudgeydoodle - the swim was worth it if only for the gasp from the woman who asked when I was due!!! And indeed it is nice to know I'll not be last on this thread. We're only 7 days out of September and I'm already on my lonesome over there, so it's rather nice to do a bit of moonlighting over here too with you lovely October ladies.

Right, I'm off to knit a bit more of a baby hat as a present for a friend's baby, whilst whispering "you can come out now" to baby bump. I am getting so curious to meet this character!

hansnava · 07/10/2008 15:02

well been cleaning today and repacking my hospital bag think im trying to convince my body that im nesting in hopes it will bring labour on . i will try ne thing lol.

flipping heck everytime i log on someone else has had their baby. so congrats

SparklyPseudonym · 07/10/2008 16:22

Hi ladies,
Emmsy has asked me to pop in and tell you all that she had a baby girl this morning. She has named her Amy Louise and she weighed 5lb 12oz. Emmsy is very tired and will be staying in for 48 hours and I'm sure she'll be here to tell you all about it then. Congratulations Emmsy and a huge wlecome to Amy. xxx

07mumstheword · 07/10/2008 16:22

Congrats Mrsbish

I had headache and felt a bit dizzy this morning so phoned MW as I had very late onset of pre-eclampsia last PG and it was only spotted a wk before DD was born. MW checked me over and all ok so I'm obviously over worrying although she did say "my goodness the head is very low down you could be in very early labour" I keep getting pains but nothing lasting more than a minute or so 20 mins apart then nothing for a while so if it is it's very very early labour I have a routine MW appt tomorrow so they've advise me to keep that and see what happens over night.

07mumstheword · 07/10/2008 16:25

Sparkly thanks for letting us know. Emmsy what wonderful news many congrats I hope you are ok and your stay in hospital allows you the rest you need. I'm really looking forward to hearing more from you when you are up to it.

perkypopsy · 07/10/2008 17:04

Hi Everyone Sorry have been incommunicado - don't know what I have been doing appart from getting really F**ked off with baby not arrivingam 41 +1 today grrrrr

Went for a sweep yesterday but cervix not open - was not as bad as I expected - for some reason was dreading getting my pregnant bits out so to speak...is all much easier when there is no cold hard speculum isn't it?

Midwife pretty annoying - booked me in for induction on Saturday but am determined not to have one if am not favourable - apparently I can go and get monitored each day instead - want to give minipops as much time imn there as he/she needs poor thing

So many babies born since I last posted - has taken 4 hours (today and yesterday) for me to read through them all.

HOORAY for the new babies (sambrads, bethoo, star, mrsbish, alexa, rosebury, hoff, anwoo, plusonemore) and also - hope I have a story to post soon but trying not to get my hopes up. Has been fab to read the positive induction stories as I'd gotten myself all worked up about them turning into marathon labours resulting in C-sections...phew!

pidge I have been swimming lots too - the receptionist keeps jumping back in alarm when I arrive and asking if she needs to get the hot towels in...ha bloody ha... It is a really nice feeling being in the water isn't it? I feel like I should go now to get myself out of the house at least once today but am feeling very very lazy for some reason

CSWS Thinking of yu lovely lady - hoping you will be back here soon with one of those "oh I just did a big sneeze and out popped the baby" stories for me . Am silly to have changed hospitals to be honest as it looks like the snazzy low risk unit is (1) never open and (2) no go for induction ladies

ronny still sure you are going to beat me to it - is my sisters birthday next wednesday so maybe it will be then...wouldn't be so p*ssed off but can't stand one more sleepless night listening to DH and the cat snoring away

Have tried all the things you need to try to get babies out and am now officially giving up - eating all that pineapple just made my tongue numb and the midwife asked me not to have a curry as it wouldn't be pleasant for whoever was doing the delivery ha ha

Good luck to anyone in labour - please send some cervix-opening, labour inducing vibes this way

Loving hearing all the names - EmkY we're still changing our minds every few minutes - maybe that is why baby is staying put

perkypopsy · 07/10/2008 17:06

p.s. emmsy Congrats to you too - had not updated my new babies list and brain can only hold so many names these days

Flamebat · 07/10/2008 17:52

Cantsleepwontsleep thread here with regular updates

rowanmac · 07/10/2008 18:22

18 pineapples I guess the individual snack pot of fresh pineapple won't make much difference then!

Had a rotten day, feeling really low and weepy, can't have a good bawl as makes me throw and that would be a waste of good maltesers. Its mainly lack of sleep but I'm now getting myself worked up that as this pregnancy is so different to the last that labour will be different too, last time was v straightforward. Also worried that as I'm getting low in myself I'm not going to cope with baby.

Just to put the tin lid on the day Icesave have gone under which is where we have our ISAs. It looks as if we're covered by the compensation scheme but it'll take months no doubt. Fortunatly the money to cover me not working is elsewhere but is anywhere safe?

ajm200 · 07/10/2008 18:22

Hi everyone..

Congratulations Emmsy and anyone else I've missed. Can't believe how busy you've all been..

just got back from the hospital after 4 hours.. baby turned eventually and is currently head down.

Tedmundo i'm at your 15 seconds!

Had 45 mins of monitoring, raised eyebrows at my high BP. Baby was well and truly stuck. Took two consultants almost an hour to turn her and I can definately say I don't want to repeat the experience especially as they don't give pain relief and one of the consultants had beautifully manicured longih finger nails....just shouldn't be allowed. Further two hours of monitoring as I started having mild contractions when the relaxant wore off.

Good news is my BP fell back to normal levels after baby turned so she must have been causing it somehow. Homebirth is ok as long as I go to hospital at first sign of labour, get scanned and monitored for 1 hour then can go back home.

Sorry, that's a bit of an essay

Pidge · 07/10/2008 18:28

ajm - brilliant, brilliant news that she turned. Fingers crossed for the homebirth.

perkypopsy - swimming is the business isn't it! Walking is quite painful at times, but I love being in the water. And as you say, it gets you out of the house.

emkay · 07/10/2008 18:45

What great news ajm and fingers crossed that you have a smooth run of things from now on.

Congratulations MrsBish and Emmsy - keep 'em coming!

I'm keeping an eye on you too pepperrabbit! Nothing to indicate anything is happening at all apart from the odd twinge here and there. DD was two weeks early so this is now unchartered territory for me. She's been acting up so much lately, I'm sure from anxiety about all the imminent changes, so it'll be great for the LO to arrive so that we can all settle into a new rhythm. The anticipation is doing my head in!

Sorry you've had a bad day rowanmac. My sister-in-law is getting married in December and the money for that was with Icesave... doesn't seem to be much good news around at the moment.

perkypopsy · 07/10/2008 18:53

Hi Rowanmac sorry you are having such a shitty time. I know what you mean about needing to hav a good cry. Was in bed lat night giggling with DH about my tactical use of the massive cushion to keep him on his side of the bed when giggling turned into massive sobbing - poor thing just doesn't know what to do with himself when I'm like that - have felt better today though so maybe it was a good thing

pidge been for that swim - was GLORIOUS - managed 30 lengths for first time in AGES (hooray emoticon). Pool was full of kids having swimming lessons - was smiling to muyself thinking someone will be calling me Mum one day soon...

Just been reading CSWS updates on induction...crikey is like watching an episode of ER...go on CSWS you can do it (cheerleading chanting from pops to CSWS in Stevenage)

belgo · 07/10/2008 18:55

that's great news AJM! And totally agree about doctors shouldn't have long nails - I had some eye examinations recently carried out by a doctor with long nails - it was rather scarey having those talons coming straight at my eyes!

07mumstheword · 07/10/2008 18:58

AJM That is wonderful news

Rowanmac Sorry you are having a down day I hope the Maltesers stay down

can anyone help ? I've been getting period type pains all day and they have become more persistant and sometimes more painful.
Last labour was a bit like this for the daytime then at 6-7pm waters broke and DD was born 10.38.
I've forgotten what contractions are like and what they should be like before phoning the hospital? (I was admitted to hospital with pre-eclampsia last time so constantly monitored) Is there a rule of thumb with regards to how often and how long they should be?
Also it feels like they are pushing into my bowels too so is that another sign?

4andnotout · 07/10/2008 19:26

Hi everyone
Well i have now packed my hospital bag so i can officially have this baby whenever she is ready
Didnt realise i had sold most of the newborn clothes though will have to go and buy some more babygros at the weekend.
I'm not even thinking about my due date really as dd1 and dd3 were both late and i know im likely to go over!

jenwa · 07/10/2008 19:46

COngrats 1sttimer80 plusonemore mrsbish and emmsy Lovely birth stories and hoping you are all well. plusonemore was it ok in the hosp???!!!!! No bugs????!!!

07mumstheword Could poss be the start of things for you!! I think it is easy to forget last time, as we prob would not do it again I planned HB last time and ended up going to hosp but general rule is to call and they can usually tell by your voice and how long you are able to speak etc but if you are in alot of pain then best to go and get checked! Normally every 3 mins lasting for a min in the norm but depends on pain I think, def the pushing thing though, I think you should give them a call good luck.

07mumstheword · 07/10/2008 19:51

Thanks Jenwa I'm going loopy here wondering what is going on. It's not that painful yet so perhaps I'm just getting ready I'll phone hospital if it all gets a bit much and or more frequent. Probably a false alarm I'm not due til 20th

star6 · 07/10/2008 20:25

oh 07mumstheword I hope this is it for you!! Best wishes to you throughout tonight. I would call hospital just to be sure.

ronshar · 07/10/2008 20:29

Congratatulation to all the mums with thier babies. Too many for me to remember and DD2 has stolen my computer pen!

Welcome to Pidge. The more the merrier. I hope we can get you through your last few days.

07mumstheword, it does sound like early labour but it could go on for days. The midwives dont count anything until your pains are at least 4 mins apart and at least a minute long. The pressure you feel is quite normal as baby is obviously in the right place to begin the journey south I would try to carry on as if it is not labour and see how you go. If you make it to midwife tomorrow ask her for an examination to see if your cervix is open, especially if you are still getting pains.
You are 38 weeks so not considered early any more.
You lucky lady. I am excited for you if this is it.

SmudgeyDoodle · 07/10/2008 20:37

07MTW hope we aren't going to jinx you by saying that this could be it. I've had stabby pains this evening but I think LO is headbutting cervix rather than anything else. He/she is also lying on a nerve for my left leg as I can hardly walk. DS wanted me to play football today so I did my best Very impressed with those of you still going swimming. I know I'd enjoy it when I was there but the hassle of getting dried and dressed after is totally putting me off. Thinking of going to cinema tomorrow but not sure if I will be able to sit for that long. 4andnotout I'm so pleased to find someone less organised than me . LOL at finding you've sold most of your newborn clothes. Maybe it will be big enough to go straight into 0-3 - it'll soon grow into them
Congratulations to anyone who's posted since I last caught up. I daren't go and look at birth stories because I'm starting t get the jitters so will have to just do general welcome to the world statements.
