Thanks for the welcome folks!! AJM I was due on September 27th, it's my third baby, I have two dds aged 6 and 3.5, the gender of this one is as yet unknown, and I'm hoping for a homebirth. Oh and I'm in London.

I always suspected I'd go into October, as the two dds were a week late. So I'm very relaxed about the whole thing. Rather enjoying my maternity leave actually. I worked up until 38 weeks, so am loving having time to go swimming every day, not to mention doing bits of cooking, baking, knitting and generally being domestic. That's when the kids are in school or with the childminder of course. Anyway, am very lucky to be fit and healthy and enjoying the calm before the storm!

4andnotout · 06/10/2008 21:57

PIDGE your dd's are the same age as mine, dd1 is 6.11 and dd2 is 3.7 also have dd3 12months and this is another girl

emkay · 06/10/2008 22:21

Congratulations plusonemore - love the name!

I make that 18 babies already and we're only at the beginning of the second week! I'm also enjoying maternity leave pidge although every time I turn up at one of DD's toddler groups everyone looks surprised to see me with comments along the lines of, 'haven't you had the baby already'? I'm not even due until Friday!

Got to pin DP down now to talk through names - we still haven't even had a proper discussion and I'm beginning to panic!! Anybody else out there not have a clue what they're going to call their LO?

1sttimer80 · 06/10/2008 23:39

Hi all,

Just quickly wanted to post that DH and I had a beautiful baby boy born on saturday 4th Oct.

Irregular contractions... followed by a lot of bleeding not mucusy. Went staright in, they did sweep because I was overdue, started proper contractions overnight (they kept me in)... was dilated enough so went to break my waters and found that my waters had broken and I didn't even know so must have been a slow leak which I didn't notice. Anyway shortly went into natural labour anyway and out 'popped' the little one!!

ajm200 · 06/10/2008 23:41

Thanks Pidge, I'll update your details tomorrow when I get back from my hospital appt as long as baby doesn't arrive and I get stuck in.. otherwise I'm sure someone will help out until CSWS gets back..

Flum · 07/10/2008 00:48

ah ah. Finally read this whole thread of 32 pages. Nice to hear about the babies arriving and so many natural births too. Am secretly hoping for one this time too as have and em section and a natural with an epidural and ventouse before.

Braxton Hicks seem to be doing the rounds. Anyone not get them. I have to be honest I don't hink I have ever had one and am 37 wks and had two babies before this. Would it be possible to not notice as I get it that they don't hurt. The only time my tummy seems to contract and go hard is after ahem, well you know a bit of 'hows yer father' which there is very little of due to my scary scary vaginal varicose veins turning me into elephant woman downstairs. I know tmi but I've just read about everyones gooey shows so............

usuallytooshytochat · 07/10/2008 05:36

can't sleep again. Is anyone else already up?

usuallytooshytochat · 07/10/2008 06:04

Whats the story with pineapple - how does it get labour going? Does it work?

ajm200 · 07/10/2008 08:13

Congratulations 1sttimer! Sorry I missed your announcement yesterday as we x-posted.

UTSTC I was up most of the night but not online. Hope you aren't too exhausted. Pineapple is supposed to help get labour going as it contains an enzyme that triggers the right hormones but you have to eat an awful lot of it. I eat two in a few hours when I was having my DS and can't stand the stuff now

Flum I hope you get the birth you want this time round. You are so lucky if you aren't noticing your BHs. So many people on here are going to be jealous. I had them almost all the time for the last two months until my baby turned breech and now they've stopped.

Everyone, please keep your fingers crossed that I come home with baby right way up and still inside this afternoon. If she turns I'm still hoping to be allowed a homebirth from midnight tonight

belgo · 07/10/2008 08:18

I'm sure I've read on mumsnet that you have to eat 18 whole pineapples for it to have any effect!

Again ajm, good luck for today, hopefully you will get your home water birth.

WheresTheAuPair · 07/10/2008 08:43

Hansnava you are now my c section buddy! I had mine put back til the 21st too (tho unlike you I don't want labour to begin before that). Feel so stretched I'm sure I can't last til then

Congrats to Plusonemore- fab news and lovely name

Belgo I think i've read the same somewhere- anyway- eating anymore then 1/2 a pineapple gives you that funny taste in your mouth so you'd have to be pretty hardcore to eat a whole on imo!

Pidge · 07/10/2008 08:44

4andnotout - how exciting, 4 girls!! My two are campaigning heavily for a brother this time, and I keep having to warn them that it might not be. Just hope they're not disappointed if it's a girl, I don't mind either way.

emkay - we are still not decided on names, and really I have no excuse now. Maybe that's why this baby is staying put!!!

ajm - all fingers duly crossed for a baby the right way up this afternoon for you. Good luck!

I'm now 10 days over, and determined to stay relentlessly cheerful!! Dd1 will be in school and dd2 is off to the childminder, so I'm planning another swim and a bit of knitting! Lovely.

star6 · 07/10/2008 08:50

Fingers crossed for you, ajm!!!! Pidge sending strong labour vibes your way! Get that baby out!

ronshar · 07/10/2008 09:20

Just wanted to say a quick Good Luck AJM. I hope they get baby back round the right way and you are home to tell us the gory details later. If not Then it will bw wonderful to meet your little one a bit early

Will be back later to catch up and say hello.

Off to soft play witha bunch of toddlers. So help me I may not make it home alive

07mumstheword · 07/10/2008 09:22

1sttimer80 Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy. Any name yet?

Plusonemore Congratulation on the arrival of Alfie, I love the name

AJM Fingers and toes crossed that baby turns for you today.

Pidge I'm impressed at you going swimming and doing a bit of knitting I've just done an hours ironing and want to sit doing nothing now

Good morning to all the other ladies in waiting and those lucky ladies who have already had their LO's

I think I've had bit of a show this morning. Quite a bit of mucus with a tiny streak of blood. Does this mean things are starting or from Sambrads experience it could still be a while yet couldn't it? I'm getting mild period type pains low down but nothing much it'll probably all be over by lunch time

ajm200 · 07/10/2008 09:51

MTW It could mean that things will start soon or you might have to wait a bit longer. Fingers crossed.

ajm200 · 07/10/2008 09:52

Thanks everyone.. I'll let you know how I get on. BP is currently 152/99 but maybe they won't notice

star6 · 07/10/2008 10:03

ajm that sounds dangerous with high BP. I hope things go well for you today. I can't wait for you to have your little baby girl!

MrsBish · 07/10/2008 10:27

Baby Bish arrived on Sunday at 1150! Rachel weighed in at 8lb 8oz.

All pretty straight forward, three days after due date.

Hoping to see you all on the 'other side' soon!!

belgo · 07/10/2008 11:21

congratulations MrsBish!
