ajm200 · 06/10/2008 08:33

Thanks, I'm actually going in tomorrow. Today, I hope to nap as I've been up all night.

belgo · 06/10/2008 08:36

hope you get some rest then today

ajm200 · 06/10/2008 08:41

Sambrads, sorry you are suffering. The milk will just be reabsorbed by your body and dry up if you stop BFing. DRs and MWs will tell you to wear a tight bra and take paracetamol but if you are already in pain, you may need to drop feeds gradually over a few days to release the pressure a bit.

I know this sounds odd but your milk supply will regulate itself over the next week or so as your body works out how much is really needed. At first your hormones can be in overdrive and cause engorgement and pain. I used to put DS to the boob to feed whenever I was that uncomfortable but don't remember that stage lasting more than a few days. He thrived and didn't lose any weight in the first week and I didn't get anything else done so DH had to help out around the house. The extra baby time was lovely

ronshar · 06/10/2008 09:02

CSWS. Good luck today. Did I read you tried the "natural" method. Sorry it didnt work for you. I hope you get a lovely quick induction with as little intervention as possible. Before you know it your baby will be here ad you will be back to keep the rest of us inline.

Bethoo that sounds like a good birth. Was it as calm as it appears or was it a real scary rush?

Sambrads, your milk will go quickly once your body realises you are not using it.

AJM, do you think your little one is going to turn on its own? I hope so. Lots of hanging off the end of your bed upside down..

Jenwa. I am so with you there

Loulou. My DD1 was the same. Every eveing she would either cry or feed. Would be sat for hours, like a milking machine. It did mean she would sleep most of the night so it was kinda ok.

Star, sounds like it is working really well for you and DH. Well done.

Due day for me[SAD]

Pistachio, apparently the way to check if it is your waters is to lay on your back with your knees up and cough. If you find that fluid kind of shoots out the it could be your waters leaking.
If not then it is probably just the general dampness of late pregnancy. I seem to wake up several times a night and have to double check myself that I havent wet the bed!!!

Good luck to Popsy today. She is going for sweep number one! Lets hope it works for her.

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/10/2008 09:58

Oh good luck popsy. What a shame she switched hospital, or I could have seen her there!

Pistachio - yes, waters can leak and then seem to reseal, as baby stuff can block the leak, depending on its position.

Happy due date Ronshar!

Pistachio If it is your main waters they should keep trickling. It is possible to get a hindwater leak that can reseal if baby manages to damage to sac high up. As ronshar says, try the cough test.

If the MW decides to check you, she'll send you to the hospital, you'll lie down for a while then they'll use a speculum to check for pooling fluid.

Ronshar Happy due date! I'm hoping baby will move by herself. She tried repeatedly last night from midnight until about 5.30am so I got no sleep at all as it was very painful. Kept getting a strong pulling pain at the top right of my tummy, roughly where my placenta is so I'm starting to wonder if she is tangled in it as she can get as far as my hip on each attempt before springing back up again. The pains lasted up to an hour each so got plenty of deep breathing practice. I guess any problems will be picked up on the scan tomorrow.

AJM, that sounds painful. This baby is putting you through it isnt she/he. I'm sure it will be all worth it. Bright side will be at least you could get to meet baby tomorrow. Not ideal I know but nice all the same.

CSWS, I forgot you were near Popsy. That would have been great. You would have been in at the same time.

My boiler is broken so off round my mums for a nice hot shower. Just what we need no hot water! Baby cant come today. How will I be able to have hot water and towels with no heating or hot water. Some kind of home birththat would be.

ajm200 · 06/10/2008 10:40

I hope you get your heating sorted out soon.

rach010 · 06/10/2008 11:22

CSWS GOOD LUCK

star6 · 06/10/2008 11:29

I hope you meet your baby today csws!!!

pepperrabbit · 06/10/2008 11:30

Good luck CSWS today, looking forward to your happy news!
sambrads I'm more the bottle feeding type too, with DS2 I was in agony for at least 2/3 days then it got better. Wore a seriously industrial bra, cabbage leaves and only had a bath, so sat with boobs above the water line as the hot water of a shower seemed to encourage leaking and you mustn't stimulate them at all.
At least you can take some quite strong painkillers if you're not feeding. HTH!

hoff · 06/10/2008 13:25

just to let you know baby hoff, aka Oliver, arrived on 3rd safe and sound. back home after natural pain relief free birth! we're both doing great. congrats/good luck to you all xx

Pidge · 06/10/2008 13:57

Just peeking in from the "Due in September" thread .... I now appear to be the last one left there, still to have my baby and talking to myself!!! So thought I'd seek inspiration from all you October folk. Congrats to those of you already with babies.

This is my 3rd, and I was 7 and 8 days late with the other two, so at only 9 days late this time, I'm not considering myself seriously overdue yet. But give me a few days and I'll start getting twitchy. Hoping for a homebirth if everything goes to plan, but this baby seems intent on staying put.

pepperrabbit · 06/10/2008 14:37

Hello Pidge, you're very welcome!

hansnava · 06/10/2008 17:13

hello,
urgggghhhhh i just had a phone call from hospital and they moved my section date from the 20th to the 21st i know its only one day but when the 20th seems ages away an extra day feels twice as long. im gonna try ne thing i can now to bring on labour naturally. im already on raspberry leaf tea and having plenty of sex (tmi sorry). so ne other tips would be greatly welcomed

csws hope ur holding ur lo by now even though im totally of u and everyone else who have already had theres

07mumstheword · 06/10/2008 19:28

What is the matter with my internet it's not been working since last night until now and I need to keep up! It is very quiet on here though with so many babies having arrived already.

CSWS Hope all is going well for you

AJM I'm not going to touch it because I'm bound to mess it up but just to let you know it appears your birth updated knocked Bethoo's off

Nothing new from me. I had a pedicure this morning so I'm all ready for hospital when baby is

rowanmac · 06/10/2008 19:31

I've tried spicy food, fresh pineapple, raspberry leaf tea, excessive gardening, bouncing on the trampoline and sex, although not all at same time. Baby still in situ so I'm no expert.

pistachio I've had sessions of something similar and then it all goes back to normal. I'm assuming its just my bladder being headbutted. The only time I leak (TMI alert) is when I'm throwing up.

Congrats to new arrivals and welcome to October thread Pidge.

07mumstheword · 06/10/2008 19:31

Hansnava Sorry to hear they've put your CS back. It's a difficult waiting game anyway but lets hope something happens naturally for you.

plusonemore · 06/10/2008 19:40

Hi all, sorry tried to do this from hospital but it wouldnt wotrk!

Had my beautiful baby boy yesterday at 6.46pm! Went in for induction at 8, pessary at 9, walk round hospital, fry up, painful contractions by 2pm, checked at half 2, 1cm dilated but fully effaced (was 3cm long) so broke waters. 20 mins later (!!!!) it was too much for me and i asked for an epidural!!! Felt like such a wimp at the time as had planned to use tens and gas and air and yoga breathing but as it turned out i was justified! Had epidural about 4.30pm, only worked on 1 side but better than nothing. I had been saying i had been feeling loads of pressure like it was the head but they ignored me. Eventually checked at about 6pm and was ready to go (i think had been like that for a while) 45 mins later there was my boy, just as the epidural was wearing off. lovely midwife made it a really calm and quiet birth and left us for almost an hour of skin to skin before weighing etc. Onto the ward bout 11pm, he fed all night and home by 11am! No stitches, feel fine, would reccomend induction as you can labour through the day and not miss a nights sleep.

Oh...he's called Alfie Thomas and weighed 8lb exactly.

Want to thank foxy in particular for all the bf tips, its really helped me to get it right so far this time. Goos luck to anyone who's left
