hi I am friend of lovely bethoo
She has texted me to ask me to let you all know
Baby girl Maia arrived just before midnight last night weighing exactly 7lbs
Beth is staying in will update if she asks me to
Good luck to you all
Piffle

belgo · 04/10/2008 13:42

thanks Piffle, congratulations to Bethoo!

AJM - what a stressful time! good luck whatever happens.

pepperrabbit · 04/10/2008 14:26

well done bethoo - and at 3pm yesterday she said "think my LO will never come"... !

loulou33 · 04/10/2008 14:55

HI all, and congrats to anwoo rosebury and Bethoo sambrads - and any others i've missed.

Am knackered, Joe was up for 10 hours last night, feeding continually , he finally fell asleep at 3am to wake again at 6 and then ds1 got up so only got about 3 hours sleep if that. Joe was 3 weeks old this week so i am putting it down to growth spurt rather than a sign of things to come but have expressed some milk this am to help if not settling again tonight.

Joe had been out of phototherapy for a week and his jaundice levels have finally started to come down on their own. I am really relieved as i thought he would need to go back in this weekend. The transfusion has been postponed till next week as his maeoglobin levels are higher than they expected - he' a little trooper (if very annoying at 2am!!)

AJM - sorry to hear about breech/footling - absolute bummer (no pun intended) is all i can say

Hope you're all well and good luck to those in labour (star where are you??)
xx

07mumstheword · 04/10/2008 15:18

Thanks Piffle for letting us know and many congratulations to Bethoo on the birth of little Maia. Hope you don't have to stay in hospital for too long and you are ok.

Snowymum Welcome back

Jenwa Hope you enjoyed lunch out and DD has worn herself out. Oh and DH has chilled out

Loulou Sounds exhausting hope you manage to get some rest I've got the sleepless nights to look forward to

AJM Sorry to hear about baby being breech

Hello to everyone else

I had reflexology this morning which was very relaxing and I went to bed for an hour afterwards. I feel really tired today but I did get 8 hours sleep last night with just 3 toilet trips
I also feel quite anxious today I've got 2 wks to go but wake everyday wondering if today will be the day. I wish your big toe turned yellow or your belly turned green to indicated labour is starting and get to hospital I think it's the unknown that frightens me.

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/10/2008 16:41

Blimey - that came out of nowhere for Bethoo. Must be all those prostoglandins she'd been getting . Congrats bethoo, and thanks for letting us know Piffle.

Getting worried about Star now - thought she'd have come back and posted sooner than this, so wondering if she needed a c-section for some reason, and is therefore still in. Hopefully she and baby are well, whatever happened.

Just back from a lovely day at the zoo with dh and dd. Unfortunately dd is now asleep in the car, which means that either bedtime will be difficult, or she'll be up early in the morning and all out of routine tomorrow, which is really not what we need at the moment. Can't wake her though, or we will get screaming for an hour or until I cave in and feed her back to sleep!

Congratulations to anwoo, rosebury, bethoo and sambrads!!! Its all getting very exciting on this thread! I'm struggling to keep up....

We're still surviving here. Dd started with a childminder on Tuesday and its gone really well so far - only a small fuss when I dropped her off and she's napping and eating really well, so thats relieved me a bit. She'll only be in on Tuesdays (9.30-5.30) and Weds pm (3-6) but I'm hoping that it'll help me cope with two... Am now booked in for a homebirth and from Tuesday am 'allowed' to have one, but I'm trying to keep my legs crossed at least till after 15th Oct as thats when the birth pool arrives!

I'm sending positive labour vibes for those who want to go into labour soon!

Ekka · 04/10/2008 18:43

Oops, and congrats to aubergenie as well - sorry..... Plus anyone else I missed out on!!!

Hope alls well with star too.....

star6 · 04/10/2008 19:07

Hi!!! baby Quinlan was born on Thursday morning after 36 hours of labour... and a vontouse - ouch, stitches... ow... but end result is AMAZING
... I'll leave details for a more appropriate place.. not sure where that would be.
He's 5 lbs 15 oz and 19 inches long! He's the cutest baby in the whole world and I can't stop crying of sheer happiness when I look at him!
We were kept in hospital until JUST NOW!! I see the reasoning behind a homebirth now. We were SO anxious to just get home!!! He's a bit jaundiced... we have to watch that now. Blood sugars were low at birth and had to get them up.... which meant cup feeding formula. I've had a really horrible hospital stay... midwives telling me that I couldn't pick up my baby from the cot in the night because he needs to learn to sleep on his own, telling me I wasn't allowed to breastfeed until after glucose tests... it was just really difficult.
But NOW, we're HOME and we couldn't be happier. I never thought it was possible to love someone so much.

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/10/2008 19:10

star!
But at some of the bollocks you were told in hospital, esp re blood sugars and bf.

Thanks, csws!
And thanks everyone else for your thoughts and especially for all of your HELP during the waters breaking initially. I don't know what I would have done without you. DH was a superstar throughout the whole 36 hours!
Yes, paying bf consequences now... and still told to top up with formula in order to make jaundice totally disappear (it's mild, not even enough for treatment but have to watch it... that promise to use formula in addition to bf was our ticket out of there!!!). I'll post my story on birth announcements in a little while...
Congrats to other arrivals... going to look through the thread for them right now!!! How exciting!!!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/10/2008 19:21

Star - dd was jaundiced but never had formula (my hospital never even suggested it, despite her having to go back in for tests when jaundice hadn't cleared). If this is something that you don't want to do, then please don't feel pressurised into it. Start a thread in breast and bottle feeding and you will get lots of great advice. Look out especially for any from tiktok - she's our resident breastfeeding counsellor.

Firstly apologies to everyone whose names I've misspelt. My typing is awful and my 2yr old helper makes it more challenging..

Congratulations to Bethoo.. {smile]

Been out all day today and haven't had a chance to read all the updates but will catch up tomorrow... congratulations to anyone else whose baby has arrived.

Had my haircut today and walked round the shops getting bits for baby and DS. Baby seemed to like the motion and has spent most of the day trying to turn back up the right way... hurts like crazy (I actually stopped and groaned in the middle of the shopping centre earlier It's promising.. she gets her head halfway down my side then pops back up... hopefully she'll succeed soon or she'll be happy to stay head down after they turn her on Tues..

jenwa · 04/10/2008 19:43

WOW exciting stuff here!!!!

bethoo congrats on your new baby girl and lovely name. Hope you both doing well and labour went well. Thanks piffle for informing us

star Welcome back, we have all been sooooo waiting for you to post and sooooo glad all ok except the crappy time in hosp and the long labour but what a lovely baby boy you have now you will have to post a piccy. Remember like CSWS is saying, it is your choice what to do and hopefully the MWs will support you when they come to the house and keep posting on here and on the BF thread (like CSWS suggested too, She is an expert on here ) Never heard of formula milk helping with jaundice but what I know is that keeping baby near sunlight helps so put moses basket/pram near window/door that lets in light as often as poss.

Need to look now to see how many where early babies I keep losing track of who was due when.

I had lovely lunch out and DH let me go back to bed this afty so had a nap and DH has been a dream. DH wants to do some work stuff tomorrow but I have requested afew jobs to do too (not asking too much! )

myjob glad Naomi is doing well and things going well for you

loulou hoping it is a growth spurt and he settles down, imagine it is difficult when you already have one who also wants to get up. Scary thought and not looking forward to that bit!!! Glad Joe is on the mend though.

heather1980 · 04/10/2008 19:43

congratulations star!!!!
i've been worried about you, still not fair that you had your ds before me though!
tmi alert, my piles are killing me, just been to the loo and was so sore i might as well have been pushing a baby out anusol rubbish, and i can't remember what i used last time... might pop to the gp on monday and get some lactulose and better cream.

DH has been wonderful today, he and mil took DD out for the day so i could have a nice relaxing day. infact i haven't even got dressed and then he went to costco and bought me a box of 48 wispa bars mmmmmmm must not eat them all at once!

twinklytoes · 04/10/2008 20:11

congratulations bethoo - beautiful name.

congrats too Star - yet another good name. has the baby shower been postponed?

Honeymoonmummy · 04/10/2008 20:36

Hi, congratulations to all the new arrivals!

I need some advice ... I was shopping earlier today, and she NEVER moves when I'm out and about. I suddenly had what I can only describe as feeling like she headbutted me in the pelvis? It really stopped me in my tracks. I wondered if this was her dropping down but she doesnt seem any lower. She's been moving normally since. Its aggravated my SPD a bit, my pelvis is aching.

Any ideas???

Honeymoonmummy · 04/10/2008 20:39

Oh, I'm 36 and a half weeks.

emkay · 04/10/2008 21:25

Many, many congratulations star and well done! I feel quite relieved now to have heard from you!

Also congrats to Bethoo and Sambrads - all wonderful news!

No real ideas there honeymoonmummy although I did start getting movements that took my breath away around 35 or 36 weeks - slower and more deliberate but sometimes quite painful. Possibly it's due to less room and amniotic fluid to cushion things. I'm sure if she's moving normally now everything's fine. Aggravated SPD might be something you find happening now as you're carrying more weight. I've just started getting sciatic pain for the first time in the last week - now 39+1 - and I think that birth is the only solution!

Loulou great to hear you coping so well with the marathon breastfeeds and another child! That's exactly what I'm steeling myself for.

jenwa · 04/10/2008 21:25

honeymoonmummy she prob dropped down abit or moved into an akward position. Sounds normal if she still moving about. Sometime they lye on a nerve etc which can send a shooting pain in your groin/legs. Mine feels like she is lay on a nerve as every so often I get to get up or walk forward and I get what feels like a pulled muscle in my groin and cant move my leg.

Just watched x factor, always a pain when you have to wait the next day for the result
