Oh my God, I think I may beat them to it! I think my waters have gone. Rather than a big gush all over the floor, I've had a number of smaller gushes mostly when I move, but enough that I need to wear a maternity pad and sit on a towel. (hind waters?) It's completely clear, so no worries there. No contractions as yet either.

I'm going to the delivery suite in the morning, so I don't want to have to go the hospital tonight if I can help it.

Do I need to do anything apart from try and get some rest?

ronshar · 03/10/2008 21:13

Brilliant Aubergine. Have a shower, shave anything that needs shaving, do your hair all nicely. Sorry, thats what I would do to take my mind off it. Also you may not get a chance to do your hair nicely for days Does that make me shallow or vain
Then get yourself into bed for some sleep while you can.
Good luck lady.
I am really excited we are getting nearly a birth a day.
Off to watch Ugly Betty but I shall be back in the ads to check on progress.

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/10/2008 21:14

Aubergenie. Yes, you need to remember to post regular updates to the rest of us .

OP posts:
hedgepig · 03/10/2008 21:42

fantastic Aubergine be calm and try and take your mind off contractions so they can sneak up on you when you are not looking

ajm200 · 03/10/2008 21:43

Ronshar thanks for the advice, unfortunately the position of the babies legs make a VB very unlikely. One foot is kicking my cervix, the other is by my hip so baby would come out doing the splits. If both feet were up or down, I'd have more chance. I've been told any signs of labour this weekend will result in an E-CS

ajm200 · 03/10/2008 21:45

Aubergine.. you need to let us know how you are doing and check your temperature every hour or so. If your temperature starts to rise, you'll need to go straight in.

pepperrabbit · 03/10/2008 21:45

Congrats Sambrads! and good luck aubergenie.
I'd just try to rest if I were you.
Enjoy the zoo tomorrow CSWS.
We've had the evening from hell with the two boys - culminated in DS2 getting himself so hysterical that he threw up all over me I just couldn't calm him down. Everyone is a bit overtired....

Aubergenie · 03/10/2008 21:54

Thanks girls. Will keep you posted! Off to try and get some rest now. XX

Honeymoonmummy · 03/10/2008 21:55

Congrats Sambrads and Aubergenie, I'm so happy you appear to have avoided your dreaded induction.

Being a first-timer, I've not got as much experience as other ladies but I thought the waters breaking was the one thing that you had to phone in straightaway for?

ajm200 · 03/10/2008 22:07

They normally ask you to wear a towel for an hour, then head in so that they can check the waters are clear, monitor baby and send you home to wait for labour.. at the point depending on hospital policy they give you up to 72 hours to start labour or they start it for you.

ronshar · 03/10/2008 22:10

Thats a bit of a bugger then AJM. This baby has been sent to try you. You sit very still all weekend and dont make any sudden moves until you have your ECV.

Honeymoonmummy, if your waters go and you are more than a few weeks before due then yes you should phone and see what they advise but if close to due or past then it is normally a sign of labour starting. You can phone up but they will ask what waters looked/smelt like and as long as waters are clear and not smelly then you should be allowed to carry on to labour at home until it is time for you to go in, if not having home birth that is.
The other issue could be that your waters break and no labour. I think it is 48 hours before they tell you to go in because of the risk of infection.
If anyone can add to that or correct me if I'm wrong (every chance) then please do. I dont want to give out false info.
My waters have never broken before labour so no experience first hand, just out of a book.
Obviously if you know you are breech and are waiting for C-Section then you should get your butt into hospital asap.

I am getting some lovely pains but same as all this week. I also feel sick but that could have more to do with the half a tub of lemon sorbet I have just filled my face wth.
It is the excitement. I cant cope without eating

ronshar · 03/10/2008 22:11

See I knew someone would do better than me. Shorter also.

Honeymoonmummy · 03/10/2008 22:24

Ah. I'm learning something every day on this site!

I'm off to bed now anyway, have given up (not) sleeping with DH in the main bedroom, I'm sleeping in the nursery with the cat! Don't worry, there is a single bed in there, I'm not sleeping in the cotbed or anything!

Night night!

ronshar · 03/10/2008 22:59

Even Ugly Betty is mocking me. An early birth in her living room. What is this a conspiracy?

How are you getting on Aubergine? All ok I hope.

jenwa · 04/10/2008 08:11

Morning all. Am I the first here today??!!!

Trying to catch up but it goes soooo quickly that when I try to reply I cant remember who I was going to say what to

snowy meant to say yest "welcome back" and also ignore peoples comments, people seem to be able to say whatever they want and think yyou either will be fine coping or you wont, its only from either there own experiences or someone they know. It will make you stronger and more determined anyway you will be fine.

aubergine hope things going ok for you and you have a nice birth.

I had the best sleep last night. Went shopping with my mum yest and DD, got DD her b'day cake and rest of pressies and am now sorted, just need to buy her some party food for small family party weds (on her b'day) Was shattered when got in and did read the thread and posted congrats to sambrads but that was all I was up to doing. Tried staying up later so could have a decent sleep and it worked. Never even had to get up for a wee and DD woke me at 7:10. Left DH in bed so hoping if nakered later he will let me nap

Good luck today to any one whos little one decides to make an appearance.

star Hoping that all ok with you and your baby is here safely and you are loving every moment.

jenwa · 04/10/2008 08:11

sambrads will go read your birth story now.

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/10/2008 08:32

Yes, you were first today jenwa .

No word from Aubergenie?
And as you can blame it on hormones, can I point out that it's AuberGENIE and not Aubergine.
And Sambrads NOT SambraNds.
Thank you .

snowymum · 04/10/2008 09:10

Thanks, Jenwa! It's nice that it's the weekend so I'll bump into fewer people, which means fewer pieces of unsolicited advice. I really feel at the moment that I want to be left alone (just me and DH) - I wonder if it's an aspect of nesting? 2 days over today, so who knows if this weekend is the one? Feeling a bit periody, but then that's been the case for the last 3 weeks!

jenwa · 04/10/2008 09:19

Ok I put Aubergine but never did sambrands dont think I blame it on this crap laptop, whenever I type my hand seems to hover over the mouse and shoot up in to another paragraph and start typing inbetween other words, it is a real pain in the arse! I end up sending people emails with words missing or words attached inbetween others...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

snowy Sometimes I think seeing people is annoying as they state the obvious like "oh you not had baby yet" doh, of course FG NOT!!! people can get stuck on a due date and ecpect it to happen or keep calling to see if anything has! Should have taken sis in laws advice re telling people due date was later than it was
Just enjoy some time with DH and have a restful weekend. Maybe your body is telling you to rest before baby arrives.

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/10/2008 09:39

Comment wasn't aimed specifically at you Jenwa - just a general rant .
Your laptop has one of those mouse pads built into it? I hate those. Have it disabled on my mac, but when I'm on my other one (when in bed!) I have the same problem - very annoying.

OP posts:
hansnava · 04/10/2008 10:15

morning all
ive had little period type pains since i got up but i think they might be wind

congrats to everyone having babies. wow to sambrads and the speed her lo popped out. sounds good to me.

ronshar · 04/10/2008 10:56

OK I hold up my hands. It was me with the Aubergine not Aubergenie. I will not admit to the Sambrands though. I have been told off for that before and so I try to always double check now..

I had four 10 minute apart pains this morning. Got all excited/scared then they stopped and I went to the loo(TMI). Bugger.

Rest up while you can ladies.

jenwa · 04/10/2008 11:30

CSWS will see if I can disable my mouse, well will ask DH , it is bloody annoying!

off out for lunch in bit, cant be arsed to cook and lets DD play in ball bit to burn off energy although dont think DH too impressed with idea . He has one day off and does not want to do very much except some work from home or start his open university!!! Dont mind but whos to say this is not our last weekend just the 3 of us. We have his nephews party next weekend so this could be our last family day as he has already requested doing work stuff tomorrow I even let him lie in this morn!! Sorry having a rant, just sometimes feel that when I suggest stuff its no good yet he can go out when he wants or do stuff he wants. Will get my way this time , things WILL change soon and he will have to help me or I will end up being a single mum!!!!

Its never quiet on here is it. Poor ajm at least it was picked up, good luck with it all, its been quite a month, hows the chickenpox, has that settled.
Well done sambrads it must have felt like it was never going to happen, just gas and air, v.impressed.
Well done aubergenie, looking forward to hearing your news.

i feel less pregnant now than I did 2 weeks ago. Its absolutely baltic up here, we've got snow on the hills and a hard frost yesterday. I have lots of summer maternity clothes, thought I'd be OK as DS early but now I'm desperately trying to get jeans dried on radiators as its all I've got.

Good vibes to CSWS too, hope you do and aubergenie and just go yourself.
